I was initially clipping this to capture the overwhelmingly accurate, absolutely devastating hilarity of "you went for realistic, and sadly, you nailed it". And then just kept recording because I really fucking love the discussion about how to balance the line between like:
You are trying to tell a story that feels good and gives you the kind of lift you might be looking for in an explicitly fantasy story,
vs
How to ensure it still feels grounded and rewarding in a way where you can "bring this good feeling back to earth" at the end.
Like they're talking about TTRPG's but they clearly make parallels to other forms of storytelling/worldbuilding mediums, like movies, and. like. Yeah. Yeah.
Like the framing of "you really recreated the feeling of powerlessness..." and wanting the fantasy element to manifest in there being the clearer, straightforward ways to solve complex issues, vs trying to ensure that you can have a victory and it feels feasible and substantial and applicable in some way, and has something you can take out of the fantasy world and hold with you back on "terra firma".
Its tricky! Its a tricky thing to balance, and I don't think there's a single "right" answer nor should there be because it depends. It depends on the story, and the intent, and the setting, and the medium, and etc. Big fan of this framework to explain it.

Arasha saying Courtney was the first person to make her feel welcomed......... the hug........ Courtney's "knowledge is power, baby" and then them apologizing after while Arasha went "no it was great". Arasha using they/them pronouns here and there for Courtney. Courtney picking up on Arasha's jokes. Todays Uno video was great for Courtrasha enjoyers.

You know, I've been thinking. The stars in our world often look quite dim, especially in areas where there is light pollution. Suddenly, I'm imagining that in the Imposter!AU, the Creator looks at the stars at night, captivated by their brilliance. Perhaps Scaramouche or Mona (Whichever you prefer, you may also just write another character you think fits this scenario :D) find them. The Creator looks at them, then back at the stars.
"They're very lovely, you know? The stars never shine this brightly back home. It's a lovely sight..."
They smile. "I'm happy that I'm able to see them, even if it's in another world. I appreciate you letting me look at them before I die."
Perhaps the character takes pause... And sits next to them.
It's a lovely night.
in the stars
word count: ~1k
-> warnings: violence, blood, both of those in your future so technically you’re not hurt yet, not written for mona mains, sorry, didn’t work with the plot :/ also diona/klee/qiqi/nahida/sayu mains are on thin ice with this one. questionable plot. barely edited.
-> lowercase intended

the stars never lie.
mona clutches her catalyst to her chest, wide eyes turned to the sky. she whispers to them, hoping they’ll change, shift into something she’ll understand, anything.
they don’t.
her head lowers, inspecting the book. thrilling tales, the spine reads, the cover a simplified dragon with a sword through it. she tries to read into it, to try and pick apart the motives behind the weapon, but all it returns is a simple needlepoint.
a compass. one she’d followed ever since she caved into the pull on her catalyst, one she’d followed out of the city at dusk and into the plains, hiking up starsnatch cliff at its behest. her twin tails had lost some of their curl on the journey, her hat flopping sadly. it was late, later than she’d normally be awake, and she stumbled once on a rock before quickly catching herself, checking to make sure you hadn’t moved.
you, sat at the peak of the cliff. you, surrounded by cecelias, face turned to the stars. you, who turned at her short cry.
“are you alright?”
she couldn’t bring her hands to shift her catalyst into its attack position. her hands, free from their usual gloves, dug into the cover of the book, shaking both with the chill of night and with… she couldn’t tell, couldn’t pin whether it was fear or nervousness, or something else that blurred the line between panic and excitement.
“just fine, thank you.”
her voice was harsher than it should have been. she could tell you were being genuine, the way the water in the air shaped around you like it wanted to cling made that clear enough, the stars shining down on you as if you were the only being on the planet.
the stars never lie. so why were they saying you meant no harm?
you turned back to the stars, your hands shifting back to weave into the grass between the cecelias.
"they’re very lovely tonight. the stars, i mean. they never shine this brightly back home….” against her better judgement, mona glanced up. the sky was particularly clear, constellations shining down unhindered. “it’s a beautiful sight.”
orders from the knights echoed in mona’s head, orders extended from a god she’d never met. she knew the knights wholeheartedly meant what they said, truly believing the words they were told, but you…
hesitantly, she brought her hand in a circle in front of her, scrying for your constellation. you didn’t have one, unsurprisingly, and she relaxed slightly in the knowledge that you didn’t have a vision.. still, there was something strange about the empty space where yours would have been. swapping the sigils and rotating the outer edge, mona decided to read your future.
all the air was sucked from her lungs, the images depicted in the water making her mouth dry. the water warped and bubbled a dark color, as if it itself hated to show what it did.
you were on your knees, tight steel chains wrapped around you and latched onto hooks in whatever you were sitting on. in front of you stood the favored, the creator’s most prized, their weapon drawn. their form was taught with anger, nearly seething. it was strange, so uncharacteristic that it froze the astrologist in place for a moment.
no matter how fiery the disposition, vessels of yours were calmer after being wished upon, heart stiller for being by your side. they, the most prominent on your team of them all, should be at most handling such a severe situation with a tick in their jaw and quiet fury in their eyes, not…
she watched with sick horror as the favored attacks once, your chest caving once, twice with hitched attempts at breathing before you slumped over, blood trickling from your neck. the favored stepped back, weapon dismissed, and mona closed the illusion before it played any further. she hadn’t meant to look all the way to your death, only a few-
…only a few hours.
her hands shake where they’re still clasped in front of her, the remains of her scrying circle swirling in her palms. you didn’t even have a day.
she let the water fall, sending it towards the cecelias around you, willing them to stand brighter as she approached. she couldn’t bring herself to summon her catalyst, not now that she knew what your fate held.
the grass was damp beneath her, seeping slightly into her nightclothes. you didn’t say anything, simply passing her a flower that you had been twirling in your palms. she willed it to heal, restored the color to its petals and the strength to its stem, then passed it back. she had no use for it, not when you…
you chuckled as you took it, staring down at it for a moment before turning skyward once more. mona followed your eyes up, spotting a well known constellation directly above you. nearly perfectly straight up, glowing like a beacon, was the constellation of the favored, six stars making themselves prominent against the dotted sea of night.
“beautiful, isn’t it?”
she swallowed, eyes flicking down to you. you were still watching the stars, probably tracing the shape of the constellation above you. unknowing of what it spelled for your fate, unknowing of the warning written above you.
mona settled into the grass a little more, taking her hat off her head so it wouldn’t fall when she looked up again.
“indeed, it is.”

Steve Harrington x fem!reader
Summary: You watched as Steve Harrington sat in the driver's seat of a car with two girls closely next to him. And then what? Go read!
CW/Disclaimer: There's alcohol involved, doesn't have to do with Steve or reader though. But drunk people are around.
Author's note: Just a little blurb based of a dream I had :)
Words: 1326

It was a mediocre festival. Small, music okayish but not great, and above all… in your town, where nothing exciting ever happened.
You watched as Steve Harrington sat in the driver's seat of a car with two girls closely next to him, one nudging herself in between from the backseat. The girls were having the time of their lives it seemed, and you couldn’t blame them. It felt obvious that they knew.
Steve on the other hand, looked less than impressed. You recognized his fake smile (why did you recognize his fake smile?) and it seemed that he was trying to convince them to leave the car. Eventually, he reached a limit for their giggles and got up to get them out. One girl followed, stumbling out of the car and the other got some help for her friend. Steve looked around for, perhaps a place he could take them to safely? You didn’t know. But when your eyes met his, you did realize that you had been staring for way too long.
You opened and closed your mouth nervously and looked away, but it was too late. With big steps he approached you, girls in tow.
“Hey, do you know any hotels around here?”
Your mind completely blanked.
“Uh… uh there’s one nearby, I think, if that still exists…” you rambled, trying to get out a useful response for him. Steve nodded. Waited.
“I’ll look it up, hang on.”
Steve took another step closer and turned slightly so he could look along with you. In the meantime, one of the girls had slipped and fell to the ground, dragging the other one along with her with lots of giggles.
Steve sighed quietly and his mouth was close enough to your ear to hear him lick his lips.
“Your friends?” You asked softly. Steve huffed a laugh and shook his head.
“Nah, not really.”
“You’re sweet for taking care of them, then.”
And you meant it. Trying to help out strangers was a rarity nowadays.
“Figured I might as well, and I also need a room it turns out,” Steve shrugged. You handed him the phone number to call and stuck around while he discussed it. From the sound of it he managed to get a room. Just one, though. Would he stay… with them? When he hung up, he grimaced.
“Just one room left.”
“Oh, that sucks,” you said emphatically. Steve shrugged and gave you an easy smile. “Guess I gotta dance until the sun comes up,” he mused.
“That’s a looong way to go still.” You chuckled and he followed along as you wordlessly got one of the girls in your arms. Somehow it had been silently decided you were gonna help him.
“Yeah, but I’ve got some company, right?” Steve looked at you, gently bit down on his lip with a smile as he tried to make an angelic face.
“I think they will be out like a light as soon as they hit the bed,” you responded, trying to slightly tease him. Steve snorted and poked your arm with his finger, as if he didn’t need all his strength to hold up this girl like you did.
“You know I meant you.”
“Perhaps I did.”
Getting them into the rooms required some effort, and the hotel clearly wasn’t happy with the ordeal but you considered yourselves lucky that the girl behind the desk really didn’t seem to want to step in. When one of the girls asked for Steve’s number he politely declined and wished both of them a good night, whereas you were already waiting outside in the hall.
“So… what’s good around here?” Steve asked, leaning sideways against the wall, arms crossed and looking at you with a lopsided smile.
“Uh… well, not much?” you giggle when nothing comes to mind. Steve hums and pushes himself off the wall, nodding ahead of him so you go along.
“Then let’s find a huge chunk of grass and watch some stars. They’re always around.”
“Except when it’s cl—”
“Shush! Don’t jinx it, dude,” he laughed, giving you an elbow nudge. As you made your way outside, you directed him to a nearby forest that had a huge open spot in the middle. You’d never go there by yourself and honestly, shouldn’t be going there with a stranger either but, gosh… What a way to die, right?
“Hey, I actually don’t know your name yet, I’m Steve.”
“I’m Y/N,” you told him, accepting the hand he held out. Steve smiled and brushed his thumb over your knuckles before letting go.
“Hi Y/N,” he said softly. “Thanks for helping out earlier, by the way. Didn’t expect that. Very welcome though.”
“Kinda felt inspired by your selflessness, I guess.”
“Who says I wasn’t doing it to impress you?” Steve said, wiggling his eyebrows before laughing again. “I mean, it would be original.”
“Sure would. I guess it’s more original than inviting me to the woods in the middle of the night,” you muttered, causing Steve to grimace.
“That’s actually really fucking creepy isn’t it?”
“I guess it should be, would it not for the fact that I opted this place.”
“Oh, right. Wait…”
Steve narrowed his eyes at you.
“Are you gonna murder me in those woods?”
You laughed.
“Yeah, I’ve got my ax and plastic bags waiting near a familiar tree stump.”
“Damn, you really thought this through, huh?” Steve asked with a chuckle.
“I sure did! Always come prepared.”
When you arrived at the open spot, Steve immediately took off his jacket and placed it down. It was big enough for the two of you to rest your head on if you lay close together.
“Won’t you be cold?” you asked.
Steve shrugged.
“Might have to snuggle you a bit if I do.”
“Gonna steal all my warmth?” you asked, while also trying to keep your breathing level and your mind in one piece. Steve hummed warmly and you could feel him turn his head towards you.
“Might try sooner than later,” he mumbled. He shifted his body, moving to lay on his side when suddenly—
Rain. Lots of rain.
You both laughed and scrambled up quickly, instantly realizing that the walk back to any type of shelter would be way too long for you to not get soaked. Still, Steve tried his best and held his jacket above his head, motioning for you to grab the other ends as he stood in front of you.
You could barely make out his face now that it was partially shielded from the moonlight, but his smile was evident. As well as the rain gliding down his arm from the angle with which he held up his jacket. Neither of you moved just yet.
He watched you, his breathing coming a little fast from the sudden movement, and his smile slowly grew wider. With ease, he leaned in, softly pressing his chapped lips against yours, the plush of them still soft despite the rough edges. You kissed him back, suppressing your own smile. Steve dropped the jacket in favor of holding your waist and your hands ended up on his back and in his hair. The jacket rested mostly on your heads and a chuckle escaped his lips when he felt the rain soak his shirt from behind. He threw the jacket off with one hand so he had more freedom to move around, cup your cheeks (one of each) and explore your mouth with his tongue.
A soft gasp escaped you as his lips followed your jawline, right up to your ear when his whisper distracted you despite the loudness of the rain.
“You’ve got a place?”
“Mhm, came here on my bike though,” you sighed as you craned your neck. He got lost in kissing your neck for a bit before he responded.
“I’ll cycle? You on the carrier?”
You nodded.
“Sounds good.”
