—Jasmine’s Hisui-era team (aside from Oshi) doesn’t get enough shine for a lot of obvious reasons, and though this doesn’t amend my neglect that, I wanted to give them their flowers for a moment:

Chi was the first to come along, as a meek Petilil, and provided the first signs that comfort could be achieved even despite the bizarre circumstances (aka being caught in the cosmically-horrific crossfires of Unown between Alph/Sinjoh/Solcean), as well as an indication that not all Pokemon in feudal Sinnoh were out for blood on sight. 

They grew particularly close—Chi became somewhat her ace, during those 18 months, and was one of two partners Jasmine considered bringing back with her to present-day (though that didn’t pan out).

Pingo, the Alpha she was somehow able to befriend. Though primal as all fuck and not the easiest to be around, something clicked between the two. Considering Jasmine spent a majority of her time around the Coastlands, gaining respect from the Alpha that once slinked around the northern shores was a huge plus when fending off predators while on fishing trips.

It was her first (and only, at the time) experience working with a dual-combination of her two favorite typings, water and steel. Needless to say, their time training together was eye-opening in regards to sharpening her “specialist” skills, and she solidified these skills later on in Mesagoza.

Because, of course Jasmine befriends what the villagers of Jubilife deem a menace. Éoko is docile as hell, rarely one to raise a fuss, and sort of just-- began following Jasmine one day, only to never stop?

Éoko became a true guardian angel during the most perilous of situations, however. Aided by the call of Éoko, Jasmine was able to summon help when something was amiss over the ridge, in the valley, wherever however whichever way. The Chimecho was another she considered bringing to the present, before deciding perhaps it wouldn’t be in the psychic-type’s best interest.

Pii was complete baby and served no other purpose than to be baby (as she deserved!), and was happily reunited with her family before Jasmine and co. departed back for the modern day. She was influential in Jasmine seriously considering motherhood, the genuine culprit of her baby fever.

Jasmine thinks about them all, from time to time. Aside from a few sepia-tinted photographs that were salvaged, though, only bittersweet memories remain.

“I tend to fly back to UK one week early to celebrate not only my birthday but also spent time with my family on holidays. All of my younger brothers and sisters were very excited to see me coming home every year. I even planning to bought many gifts as possible for them for their liking. Well there is one person I’m not looking forward to see… I do have other relatives from UK coming to our home for my birthday, as well. I knew myself I’ve done this before but it feels like such a long time to see familiar faces after staying in Japan.”

“Well I am a street magician so of course I enjoy going outside playing the snow on winter season. There are times I tend to play with the children at the nearest park doing bunch of fun activities with snowboarding, building snowman/small igloo and my favorite snowball fights! I’m always the one to be the elements of surprise of throwing snowballs at my dearest friends and no one knows I did it~ usually at Yoichi, it was the most entertaining 💗 Haah~ I really love that game so much. At the end of the day, I went straight back home and rest on my couch with drinking hot chocolate.”

“I-I’d like to think I’m the one who’d work my butt out earning much salary I have rather than waiting for someone to give me a present. 👪 - Does your HF oc have any relations to any canon HF characters, be it familial, platonic, romantic, or what have you?

Yes - She is the adopted youngest daughter of Roman Murray, quickly snatched out of the foster system after her mother's murder and dad's lifelong incarceration - Which the Starry Children were responsible for. Therefore she's also the little sister of Linda Monroe (And fellow adoptee with Zero Paxton, if you'd like to count other OCs). She does not like being part of the family, and treats living in the Murray estate as just renting a room in the house, as much as Roman would like to wrangle her into playing along with the family.

She's also the same age as the Nerdy Prudes Must Die cast, 18 years old at the time the show would take place, so she's generally familiar with them, and pleasant enough to the other nerds, even if she's aware she creeps them out to some degree. Trudy doesn't feel she really has any friends, and struggles to tell the difference between romantic and platonic feelings due to having experienced neither very much. 🎭 - If your HF oc were to appear in Hatchetfield canon, which cast member would you want to play them? Whilst Trudy does have a canon faceclaim (Miel Escamilla, who you might know if you've seen Adamandi or The Art of Pleasing Princes), I think if she were to be played by one of the actual HF guys, Lauren would probably nail her vibe. ❗ - Just name a random fun fact about your HF oc! Renee has a good relationship with all her family. She visits them when she can get the time off to, and she calls them a few times a week. She has a brother! (But I’m grappling with whether or not to make him a twin for the lols or just have him be younger)

😨 FEARFUL - when scared, do they go into "flight" or "fight"?

Renee has various fears, and depending on which she’s faced with, she reacts differently. If it’s a Pokémon she’s uncomfortable around, she’s avoid it. If it’s someone in danger, she’s right in there, ready to duke it out if she knows words won’t help.

She’s not afraid to throw hands for others

Renee’s not picky about cakes. She prefers ones with chocolate in them, whether the cake itself or in the icing.

Not really! Sometimes she gets sniffly around plants and grass types that are very pollinated

Renee, surprisingly, isn’t about her own picture. She’s so used to taking pictures she hardly thinks or is concerned about her own picture. It’s what makes a gift of her own photo or something similar so sentimental. She takes pictures to preserve moments, and to help study Pokémon, and if someone thought she was worth preserving

Renee is pretty peppy and all smiles all the time. She’s “kinder” to strangers, and plays around more with people she’s familiar with. Playful bickering makes it seem like she’s not fond, but she is. She’s very fond if she’s teasing you about

Jeans and a comfy shirt, usually with a fun pattern. She’s often out and about, photographing pokemon, so her clothes and comfy and able to get dirty

Renee cannot draw. She’s got a decent grasp of cartoony styles, so what she draws looks recognizable with a reference. Without its pretty bad

Despite doing her best to be friendly and make friends, Renee doesn’t have very many close friends. She moves around too much to really make any real connections. Even her family has grown distant due to her traveling, so sometimes, she feels very alone

Renee looks at the sky and thinks of constellations, stories centuries old captured in a never fading blanket of darkness. She’s fond of the stories, and whenever she’s with someone where the stars are visible, she tells the stories.

She dreams of a little one, and telling them the bedtime stories only nighttime provides

☄️ COMET - what do people assume about them? are they right?

Renee talks fast, and with that people assume she doesn’t think before she speaks. And it’s true. She doesn’t, not always. Her brain moves quicker than her mouth, and she also hates missing a moment, so she strives to be on top of things. Thus, she stammers and stutters sometimes, leading people to think she’s a bit ditsy.

💓 BEATING HEART - what gets their heart racing?

Someone that can make her laugh usually gets her a little flustered. She’s used to being the clown, and having someone else able to throw her wits back at her is a delight.

She also finds a rush in quick events. Moments over in the blink of a eye, like the diving of a bird into the sea, or a spider leaping off a branch, spiraling towards the ground. Renee strives to capture these minuscule moments on film, and when she manages, the thrill overwhelms her with happiness

💗 GROWING HEART - if they have a crush, is it noticable? what changes when they're in love?

It’s not completely noticeable. Renee doesn’t do much of anything different when around a crush than around other people she likes. The only thing that’s different is she may seem more subdued around the person. She’s interested in them, what they have to say, who they are in life, so she takes a backseat in conversations and hangouts, wanting to witness all there is to offer, and commit it to memory

Goeun tem dois irmãos e uma irmã, todos mais novos que ela. Além disso, também mora com os pais na residência real da família, em Busan, além da avó paterna. Ela costuma dizer que a relação familiar é um tanto quanto fria, o que se espera de membros da realeza. Todos se dão bem, mas nunca há muita demonstração de carinho entre os Kwon. Ela é mais próxima da irmã mais jovem, Gunhee, que tem 7 anos e vê Goeun como um modelo a ser seguido.

Goeun nasceu no dia 19 de novembro. Como primeira na linha de sucessão, seu aniversário é comemorado religiosamente, todos os anos, mas ela não gosta muito das festividades oficiais. Costuma se reunir com os amigos na noite anterior à festa e sair com eles para algum local reservado, para que possam aproveitar devidamente.

Aqui é interessante, porque desejos são coisas a serem desenvolvidas na Goeun. Ela nunca teve espaço para desejar muitas coisas e nunca conheceu nada e nem ninguém que desafiasse algo nela, pelo menos até a Yulhee. Nesse sentido, é com ela que a Goeun vai aprender o que é fazer tudo o que estiver ao alcance para ter o que quer.

O dia em que ela entendeu quem era e o que representava para as pessoas. Em uma comemoração na residência rural da família, ela acabou de distanciando e indo brincar com algumas crianças da mesma idade dela. Quando apareceu outra vez, as roupas, feitas especialmente para a ocasião, estavam todas sujas. Ela se recorda de ter ouvido sermões por dias dos pais, que precisavam fazer a filha entender quem ela era naquele momento e o que seria no futuro. A situação acabou marcando muito o restante da infância e desde então, a Goeun se preocupa muito com a aparência que está mantendo para as outras pessoas.

Judge lies with the same straight face and dead tone that she says most everything in. Most bugs, especially mortals, will leave it at that. What the wyrm god says goes, after all.

If you know her better or are more persistent, the tell is usually that she's making shit up on the fly, so watch for inconsistencies, evasiveness, and circling around back to the same few points. Uhh many, by mortal standards. As a wyrm, she's lived a long life, and experienced a whole plethora of emotions so many times over that she's got good ways of handling them. Or, at least, she can hold herself back if need be. However, that's as a wyrm. In her new body she's often dealing with less familiar situations, and her responses don't come across the same way.

The one she's probably worst with is overstimulation. Not quite an emotion, but being surrounded by people just didn't happen as a wyrm, so too much noise, scents, that kind of thing, drives her up the wall.

👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings?

Haldegard does have a sibling, to get that one covered! She's got a twin, her name is Inrai. They're... pretty different. It's kind of a Thing for the culture they grew up in that twins (and sometimes other even numbers of kids) encapsulate duality, which is a big part of spirituality; one will be one way, one will be the opposite. Inrai... I don't know how to describe her personality other than like, 30-something year old Instagram influencer. Which is actually her job; she does social media travel stuff, but unlike Haldegard she sticks to her home planet.

Though, despite the differences, Haldegard still talks with Inrai! They get on each other's nerves sometimes, but Haldegard will pick up if Inrai calls and they'll let each other know any major events. Their parents, however, she will ignore as much as she can and the crew's in on it. See, she realized she was queer growing up, and they found out somehow. In a panic, they hooked her up with a friend's kid, hoping that being in a relationship with the "opposite" sex would make her realize it's not that bad. I forgot my in-universe term but Haldegard's homosexual. So's the kid she got paired with. They became friends and were each other's beard for a while, but it really put Haldegard off. Between that and some other incidents, she doesn't really want to talk to them anymore.

(Her parents have actually learned a lot since then, and may not always be 100% on top of it as allies, but they try to support queer folks when they can now. Haldy won't hear it.)

The rest of the family's pretty extensive. Most also don't talk with her much by extension of the same reasons she won't talk to her parents. At least for her cousins' and parents' generations. The elders keep in touch every once in a while, and I think there's one she's particularly fond of.

🌌 MILKY WAY - what was the inspiration behind your oc? what was the first thing you decided about them?

Longest Johns songs, I believe! That and that one post that goes around sometimes about space shanties. My other SF universe doesn't have rules that let it get into the like, singing to keep time during FTL travel thing, but I really wanted to play around with that sort of idea. So the Merciful Steel's universe was born, with much more loosey-goosey rules about things. (Hence why Hex exists!)

Of course, if I wanted space shanties and the like, I needed a ship, and the ship needed a captain. This happened around the time Warframe put out their Railjack update, and while I was dreaming up what I'd do with my railjack, I thought of naming it the Merciful Steel. The ship and the characters were all originally for a Warframe fic! Haldegard was a Hildryn, Hex was a Limbo, and Lwx was an Ivara who learned engineering from a Vauban. (Yip I never could get a feel for which frame to use, might have ended up being a Volt if I stuck with the Warframe idea.) There's still some callbacks to that in their designs - Haldegard's body shape, Hex's suit, Lwx's single eye.

But of course, it's no longer Warframe fic, though I do still consider my Hildryn to be the "captain" of my railjack, which is indeed called the Merciful Steel.

Elina.

OT: Jasmine Origin: Area Zero, Paldea (Crater Arc) Careful; good perseverance. Sample moveset: Gigaton Hammer / Thunder Wave / Play Rough / Stealth Rock

the menace, the legend.

Elina had it out for Jasmine the moment she first saw the woman take flight on Morga, early on into the ex-Leader’s Paldean adventure with James; from then on, the Tinkaton’s sights were set on taking down the most pristine Corviknight she’d ever seen in her life.

She’d slink around the outskirts of the Academy’s grounds, waiting for the opportunity to snipe Morga out of the sky to rob her of those gorgeously groomed (and polished) feathers.

Elina’s mission wasn’t necessarily predatory in the way that’s expected of her species—she fancies herself an artist and sculptor, with the metal along Morga’s body being the medium she’d been seeking since her last burst of inspiration.

Everything came to a head around the rim of the Great Crater.

In a flurry of events that will be explored at a later date, Elina’s first adventure with Jasmine turned out to be one more memorable than the Tinkaton could’ve ever expected—a friendship soon bloomed from the traumatic experience.

Elina accompanied Jasmine and James back to Alto-Mare, along with the other newly inducted members of the Daniels-De Luca gang.

Upon the move from the villa in the city of Alto-Mare to a dilapidated, seaside mansion off of Viale Delle Fate, Elina was essential in the repairs that went into the reconstruction of everyone’s new home.

She maintains a frenemy relationship with Jasmine’s Corviknight; following the events in the Great Crater, a respect has formed enough for the Tinkaton to not go for Morga’s throat every time the two run into one another around the property.

In Jasmine’s adjacent garage, where the woman handles any mechanical work requests from those in the city, is a small workshop for Elina (and James’ own Tinkaton, Amy) to toil away with any smithing projects.

Speaking of Amy, the two have become quite close following the return from Paldea! Most of the (best planned) pranks around the home are the result of the two’s mischievous streak when brought together.

Still an artist of the highest caliber, Elina will bribe Netillo and Shodan to scour the island for scrap metal in order to complete her more ambitious endeavors. The bribe? Thunderstones, naturally.

These thunderstones are acquired by Titania on her routine digs through the bedrock below Alto-Mare; Elina repays this favor by offering to “hammer out” chips and kinks along Titania’s body that result from the Steelix’s vicious (but congenial!) battles with her son, Koloss.

Though she has everyone and their mother (literally) eating from the palm of her stubby hands, Elina takes her art very seriously; the grounds around the perimeter of the mansion are decorated with many of her favorite creations—surprisingly, her sculptures are becoming less crude as time goes on!

Jason Grace and The Dii Consentes

Book 1: The Son of Lightning

Jason didn't have a lot to his name but the clothes on his back and a tattoo he never understood. He knew he was Roman, unapologetically so, and he would do anything to defend his home and fight. But first step? Joining the Legion. Preferably without getting stabbed by Octavian or falling off cliffs for a mystery girl.

→ Jason grows up as an orphan under the care of the Vestal Virgins 🧒🏼 He doesn't meet many other demigods until he hits SPQR. Because of his age, he trained alone one-on-one with various people, but never was with the other kids. When he hits about 12, he has to go through Wolf House before entering SPQR with the others

→ Before he enters SPQR, he goes through Wolf House for a few weeks with the other hopeful legionnaires 🐺 Here he meets Octavian and a few other minor characters (Consider this like Percy meeting Annabeth, but also Clarisse/Katie/The Stolls). Octavian sees Jason's tattoo and scowls (this is because he's jealous but Jason doesn't realize this and covers his arm up). They hate each other but use each other to succeed ahead of the others (both are too arrogant). It's essentially survival camp but people probably die. Jason thinks about what he remembers of his time under Lupa, but never verbally mentions it

“You look stupid. Stupid and useless.” Octavian sneered. He dug his knife against the tree. I winced, hearing the scraping noises as he carved his name into the bark. He grinned wickedly at the sight of the scratchily clawed OCTAVIAN. 

“I’m smart enough to not leave a trace of where I am.” I told him. His mouth flapped open for a second, and he screwed his jaw shut, lips pulling together in a thin line. 

Octavian brushed off his knife and pushed past me. “Keep moving, Bar-code.”

→ They make it out obviously ⚔️ Their next step before getting placed is some war game outside of the SPQR walls and into the mountains. It is here that Jason stumbles into Reyna.

She was dripping with whatever was in the murky river. The girl was about my age, long black hair and dark penetrating eyes. She wore one of the centurion helmets made for someone with a head twice as big, no doubt found abandoned with its giant dent and streaks of dried blood. Big slimy chunks of green mucus latched to her skin and clothes.

“Uh,” I said, still holding my nose. “Hi. You fell in the river.”

She cursed, loudly, and began to run off in the opposite direction. I heard Bryce’s victory whoop from beyond the trees, and against my best judgement, grabbed my sword and sprinted after the mystery girl.

→ They become fast friends and win the game together 🏆 Jason is surprised that she's not a demigod (she is, he's just 12 and dumb), and tells her to join the legion. Octavian swoops in just to be annoying saying it's not that easy. Reyna scowls and says "Watch me." In the excitement of winning the game, Jason loses sight of her.

→ Before their placing into cohorts, Octavian tells Jason that he's useless and doesn't have a family so he's going to the 5th cohort anyway 👪(Octavian has a long ancestry in 1st cohort and as officials). To both their surprise, Jason is placed in first cohort with him. Jason asks the current praetor why. It's pretty obvious, but it's the first time Jason is told explicitly that he's a son of Jupiter. In the feast afterwards, Jason looks for Reyna but she isn't there.

I stumbled up onto the podium. The Roman legionnaires stared back, blank-faced, silenced by the shouting Augur. Despite her best tries, a low murmur rippled through the crowd.

I clenched my teeth, thinking about what Octavian said. You're a no one. You have no family and no home- as if they'll accept you. I could hear his snide laughter. Scanning the crowd, I searched for someone familiar, someone I knew. The Vestal Virgins weren't in sight- they weren't allowed here and that made my fists clench- but then I saw Gwen. She smiled from over the helmets and spears. 

She was in the fifth cohort. I wanted to be in a cohort with someone like her. Then the crowd exploded with noise, and I realized I missed the announcement. I didn’t need to ask- Octavian’s reddening glare and sputtering said enough. 

Gwen stayed smiling. 

→ Jason and Octavian make a pact together when they get branded 🤝 Something about being rivals and they're not going to lose to each other. Then Jason gets another bar added and Octavian gets his tattoo. He looks ticked that Jason already had his, but is proud of his new tattoo anyway

→ A few weeks later, Jason stumbles out of bed into another "new recruit" ceremony 🗡️ There's a girl on the stage. It's Reyna. He yells that he would vouch for her, and Octavian calls him stupid because Jason's on probation. The legionnaire wearily accepts Reyna, and the three of them are now in first cohort together.

“It’s you,” I grabbed her hand. “Reyna, you’re here. You’re a demigod.”

“And?” Reyna snatched her hand back, folding her arms. She was still glowing from the feast, her hair covered with one of the faun’s confetti. On her forearm was a single thick black line underneath a crossed sword and torch. Bellona, I thought. A war goddess. That fit her. Reyna was strong and strategic.

I grinned at her. “We’re in the same cohort. So we’re teammates- again. But this time with less sewage and slime monsters.”

She blinked at me. Then broke out into a laugh. “Can you show me around? Octavian offered but I think he was trying to get me alone to kill me.”

“He does that a lot.” 

“I can tell.”

Now, Jason has bare memories of Lupa and a glimpse of Thalia. Following the journey of three years in five books like PJO, the Roman Trio are around 12/13 years old. Ultimately, there is still the Titan War in the last book, but the focus is little on the actual Titans and what leads up to it. 

While Percy and Annabeth had Luke, Jason’s in the Annabeth position in which he’s being betrayed by family- in this case, this is the Roman Senate. It in incredibly frustrating because of the secrecy and abandonment that the government had, and Jason/Reyna gets tired of the fact that they are just kids in a war camp

The Roman Trio’s struggle would be Reyna who despises the Senate and has no ties to SPQR, Octavian who has a long ancestry in power and strives to become praetor instead of Augur like expected of him, and Jason who grows up under the care and tutelage of the Senate but is treated as a trophy rather than a child. By the fourth book, the Senate topples because of the lies, but this leaves the Romans in an uncertain state of reform by the fifth book as the titans rise. The Roman Trio get thrust to the front of the battle, and take their place, despite hating it because it’s what they fought against (at least for Reyna and Jason- Octavian’s just pissed that Jason was praetor instead). A new senate rises and nothing really changes, and Jason disappears when Reyna needs him most. In his absence, things settle and everything goes back to how it was, and when Jason returns in Mark of Athena, he hardly remembers what happened. 

🤔 with the Roman trio, there's also the morals dynamic brought up much more than in PJO. Jason is strict on what is good and bad in the beginning, while Reyna questions it constantly ("Who is the one who created the rules?"). Octavian has his values rooted in the Senate as well, but unlike Jason, he hardly falters in his beliefs (the rare moments he does, is a split decision to trust the other two over the laws). Jason's disposition on morals changes almost entirely through out the series. Secondly, Octavian is suspicious but he's not really a villain. Just a dick 💀💀💀 he's 13 so idk what u want me to say

Some things do change though. Like the process to joining the Legion is different from what Percy goes through. Little things, but they happen 🤔

--- Anyway, since SoL is an intro book, it doesn’t have much substance but introduces topics. I’m a huge fan of the (found) family concept going on with PJO, and this would be great in between this and HoO. Reyna and Octavian’s backstories get explained through out the books I guess. Ngl, it would be very cool to end the final book with a mention of Hazel and Nico. 💑 As for romance... I don’t care cause valgrace wins in the end... PJO wasn’t ever about romance, but it’s probably there. I'm not picky.

Regana's greatest wish... is for her and her family to be safe and have peace. She wants her older brother Raubahn to not have to fight, she wants her husband Thancred to be able to relax, she wants her children to grow up in once place that they can call home. And the only thing she will not do to achieve that wish is sacrifice friends and family.

Oh Toshasha is so disgustingly a morning person. Comes with having been the Sultana's Lady-in-Waiting her whole life. First thing she does in the morning now that she's an adventurer/ Warrior of Light is wake up, get dressed, wake everyone else up, and make sure the day gets going.

R'osi tends to be quieter around strangers, and sometimes has an intimidating resting face. He gets very comfortable around good friends, willing to joke and speak his mind more. Around family, he tends to be quiet again but a much happier, relaxed quiet, where he isn't watching everything.

💡 LIGHTBULB - is your oc a planner? do they write down every small detail or just wing it?- Akimune

Akimune is absolutely a planner, he was taught by Gosestsu to not rush headlong into a situation. He doesn't write down every little detail, but he usually has most of the plan together before trying anything. And that habit only grew once he got close to Cid and picked up enough Machinist to be able to help him.

🎁 PRESENT - what types of presents would they be most happy to receive? are they good at gift giving?- Valljan

Valljan is not very familiar with the idea of gifts, and never knows how to receive them. He was happy to receive the gift of his glasses, as it turned out he was farsighted. He's okay at gift giving, tends to give very practical gifts that have a definite use.

Rivienne is definitely a romantic, and does believe in love at first sight. She looks for people who are supportive, kind, and good leaders who want the best for their people.

👁️ EYE - What color are their eyes? Do people notice their eyes? Is there anything special about them (shows emotion easily, literally magical…)?

Abby has deep blue eyes, which are a bit noticeable. In his John Smith incarnation, the Doctor finds them familiar, though he doesn't realize where from until he turns back into his Time Lord self: Abby's eyes are the same shade of blue as the TARDIS. Other than their shared color with the TARDIS, there's nothing particularly special about Abby's eyes.

🤥 LYING - Are they good liars? Do they have tells to show they’re lying?

Abby is not a very good liar. She's never really had to lie in her life before, so it's a skill she's sadly lacking. It's pretty obvious when Abby is lying; her voice goes slightly high-pitched, and she has a hard time making eye contact with the other person.

👻 GHOST - Do they believe in ghosts? What are their “ghostly experiences”, if any?

Abby doesn't believe in ghosts, nor has she had any ghostly experiences.

💥 COLLISON - What emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Abby doesn't have any trouble dealing with her emotions, except maybe when she's grieving. She more or less shuts down when she's grieving the loss of somebody, especially in the immediate days after that loss.

😭 CRYING - What makes them cry? Do they cry easily?

Losing people that she loves. And maybe sappy movies. Other than those two things, Abby doesn't cry easily.

👊 PUNCH - Are they quick to violence?

At the beginning of her series? No, not at all. Abby would balk at the idea of hitting someone, even if that someone was threatening her or her loved ones. But as her series goes on, she does become more prone to violence (particularly towards the Master).

💢 ANGER - What are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

Being a bit sloppy. Abby is still used to having someone pick up after her, so her slightly sloppy ways take some getting used to (though she does get better about cleaning up after herself and not making as much of a mess).

👪 FAMILY - What is their family like? What is your OC's relationship to them? Does your OC have any siblings?

Abby was the youngest child and the only daughter of James and Edith Larchmont, and she had three older brothers: James Larchmont II aka Jimmy (26), Henry (25), and Arthur (23). Abby was very close to all of her family, even if she sometimes didn't always agree with them (like her mother and her desperate attempts to make Abby part of society), which made their deaths aboard the Titanic that much more painful.

Though Abby is more likely to go into 'flight' mode, she tries to push past this instinct to fight instead.

Abby does fall asleep fairly easily, but she does like to sprinkle a few drops of lavender on her pillow to make sure she has a deep, restful sleep, as well as have her stuffed black teddy bear, Leopold, close beside her.

Banana waffles absolutely drowned in syrup, which the Doctor gets her hooked on while they're stuck in 1969 during the events of 'Blink'. Bonus points if the waffles are in cute little shapes, like Mickey Mouse heads.

🎂 BIRTHDAY CAKE - When is their birthday? Do they like celebrating it?

Abby was born June 11th, 1891. She does like celebrating her birthday, though not in the way she did it when she was younger. Coming from a well-to-do, upper-class family, Abby's birthday (which fell right in the middle of the London Season) was usually used as an excuse to throw a huge party that would introduce Abby to different members of society (namely, men). There would be a private, family celebration later, but Abby's birthday was mainly a grand affair that Abby never felt comfortable with. Traveling with the Doctor, Abby prefers her birthday to be low-key, with the Doctor, some friends, and cake.

🍩 DONUT - Favorite sweet treat?

Oreos. And, when she begins traveling with the Doctor, Oreo ice cream.

🍟 FRIES - Do they order food often? Or they prefer to cook their own food?

Abby does prefer to order food since, growing up, she rarely set foot in the kitchen, having servants to do the cooking and all. The Doctor does teach her a few basic things in the kitchen (how to make scrambled eggs, cook soup, etc.), but for the most part, Abby prefers for someone else to worry about food preparation.

Abby prefers hot drinks, namely strong tea and hot chocolate. Her favorite drink is a good cup of Darjeeling with a little bit of lemon mixed in.

🍓 STRAWBERRY - Do they eat their fruit & veg? What is their favorite fruit or vegetable?

Abby does eat her fruits and vegetables. Her favorite fruit is crispy red apples, and her favorite vegetable is carrots.

Abby's favorite cake flavor is chocolate with rich, dark chocolate icing. She's very specific about having this cake on her birthday (it was really the only thing she looked forward to during those extravagant birthday parties growing up), along with Oreo ice cream.

🍧 SHAVED ICE - Do they still have any objects from their childhood? What significance does it have to them? What would their reaction be if they lost it?

Abby has several photographs and even a few paintings of her family, which she values very highly. She would be absolutely gutted if she somehow lost them, so she keeps the photographs in one of her father's old cigar boxes, and the paintings in a bank vault (later aboard the TARDIS).

Plants & Nature

💐 BOUQUET - Create a bouquet for them! What do those flowers mean? Are any of the flowers their particular favorite?

A bouquet for Abby would consist of pink camellias, some coreopsis, and some yarrow. Pink camellias symbolize longing for someone (as Abby does for her family and for the Doctor), coreopsis mean always cheerful (as Abby is very optimistic and cheerful, eager for an adventure), and yarrow means everlasting love (something that represents the Doctor and Abby's relationship).

Abby likes all of those flowers, but none of them are her favorite, which is purple lilacs (lilacs themselves symbolize joy of youth, but purple ones specifically represent spirituality, and Abby's not particularly spiritual).

🌙 MOON - What is your OC’s greatest wish? How far are they willing to go for it?

Aside from somehow getting her family back, which Abby knows isn't an option, it would be to travel, experience new things, and maybe even fall in love. Abby's willing to go far to achieve that wish (she was already traveling before the official start of her story), though even she is surprised at how badly she wants to go on the TARDIS and get to know the Doctor.

🌋 VOLCANO - How bad is their temper? Is it a slow boil, or an instant explosion?

Instant explosion, essentially. Abby has no qualms about speaking her mind on something, particularly if she feels it's a horrible situation, or somehow wrong.

🌺 HIBISCUS - Do they have any allergies?

Abby is allergic to cats, which is unfortunate, as she's quite fond of them.

🍁 MAPLE LEAF - What is their favorite season? Why?

Abby's favorite season is fall. In the past, it meant that the Season had come to an end, offering a reprieve from social engagements and allowing Abby to simply spend time with her family. But as she got older, Abby grew to enjoy the changing colors, often taking long walks in Hyde Park just to admire the scenery and be out in nature.

🍃 FALLING LEAF - Do they enjoy being in nature? What is their favorite outdoor activity?

Abby does enjoy being in nature, but she's not really the hiking type. Her idea of being in nature is walking around a park or sitting on a blanket in one with a good book.

Abby is a very annoying morning person. She's the kind of person who wakes up before dawn just so they can watch the sun rise. In fact, at Farringham, that's exactly what Abby does nearly every morning; she gets a large thermos of tea and hikes out to a spot on a hill and watches the sun rise.

🕷️ SPIDER - What is their biggest fear? Do they have any irrational / mundane fears?

Abby hates rodents. Mice, specifically. They symbolize untidiness and poor hygiene to her. Her biggest fear, however, would have to be losing everyone she loves.

A slightly irrational fear she has is traveling on ships, water-based ones, to be more specific. After the Titanic sinking, which she only avoided by being sick at the time of the voyage, she's leery of getting on another one. Traveling on the Titanic's sister ship, Olympic, to fetch her family's bodies was a very unsettling experience for her.

🌹 ROSE - Do they like Valentine's Day? Have they been confessed to before? Have they confessed to anyone before?

Growing up, Abby only experienced Valentine's Day from the view of her family. They would exchange cards over breakfast that day and her parents would go out in the evening, but other than that, it wasn't a big, noteworthy holiday for Abby. But with the Doctor. . . Well, it's safe to say she'll be getting confessed to then, and maybe doing some confessing herself.

🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL - What's a side of your OC that they don’t want to show other people?

She does, eventually, use her medical knowledge to harm people who have wronged her or her loved ones. It's not a side Abby is proud of, so she does her best to keep it hidden (at least, from everyone save the Doctor).

🙊 SPEAK-NO-EVIL - What is something your OC will refuse to stay quiet about?

Anything that she perceives as injustice, or as being racist or prejudiced.

🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - What is the worst thing your OC could hear from someone?

That someone she loves has died and she'll never see them again. That's Abby's greatest fear: losing everyone she loves.

🌱 SEEDLING - What is their most vivid memory from childhood?

Wrestling with her older brothers on the parlor floor, and her father teaching her several self-defense maneuvers, like ducking, dodging, and proper fighting stances, and even learning how to fire a gun. Those were very unconventional things for a woman of Abby's standing in that time period to learn, and they stuck out to her.

🍀 CLOVER - Do they believe in luck? Are they lucky?

Abby doesn't believe in luck, nor would she consider herself lucky, though she and the Doctor both wonder if it was really dumb luck that they met when they did, or if the TARDIS chose Farringham 1913 for the specific purpose of introducing them.

🌏 EARTH - Will they give up the world for someone they love? Is this decision easy for them?

Abby would, absolutely, if it was to save someone she loved. She wouldn't even think twice about it.

🌌 MILKY WAY - What was the inspiration behind your OC? What was the first thing you decided about them?

I have never liked 'Human Nature'/'The Family of Blood', for many reasons. One of them is because of Matron Redfern. She's an absolute racist bitch to Martha and is also rather rude to the Doctor at the end (look, let's be honest, John Smith was no prize). I wanted to create a character who was basically her exact opposite, who would treat Martha with the respect she desperately and rightly deserves, as well as be a much-needed friend to her, and who, while attracted to John, would much prefer the Doctor's real personality. From there, it took a bit more thinking and puzzling, but finally, Abby was born!

The first thing I decided about Abby (aside from all of the above personality traits) was that she would be a nurse and was from an upper-class family who had tragically all perished aboard the Titanic (partly because I'm a bit of a Titanic history buff, but mainly because I needed an excuse that would allow for her to travel on the TARDIS full-time without anything holding her back or tying her down to her time period).

Activity

⚾ BASEBALL - Can they play sports? What is their best position if they play a team sport? What’s their strong suit (speed, power etc.)?

Due to the time period and lifestyle she was born in, Abby does not play sports. She's never learned any. The closest she's ever been to playing a sport is lawn croquet.

🏊 SWIMMING - Can they swim? Or are they afraid of water? How well do they swim? How do they feel about swimming in the ocean?

Abby never learned how to swim (it just wasn't something upper class young women learned in her time). The Doctor does end up teaching her how to swim though! Abby prefers to swim in a pool, instead of the ocean, where she's content to wade in the shallow water.

Abby isn't loud, but speaks . . . at an average volume, I guess? She speaks like her face claim, Shelley Hennig, but with a posh, RP London accent.

Abby loves reading! She really enjoys reading travel and adventure books, with her favorites being H.G. Wells' The Time Machine and the Tarzan series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. She also enjoys reading the latest medical texts and journals.

🪤 MOUSE TRAP - What will always lure them into certain danger? A loved one in danger? A promise of something they are always searching for?

A loved one being in danger would absolutely lure Abby into certain danger, no question about that. Also injustice, or just some wrongdoing that Abby can't abide by.

📸 CAMERA - Do they enjoy having their picture taken? What’s their go-to pose? Do they like taking photos? What do they take photos of?

Abby definitely prefers having her picture taken via camera than sitting for a painting, as she did quite a few times growing up. Initially, Abby adopts a formal pose when having her picture taken, but over time learns to loosen up and give silly poses instead. Abby will take some photos when she gets a camera phone, but it's not a big priority or hobby for her.

🎭 MASKS - Do they act differently around certain people? What’s different between the way they act around friends, family, strangers, etc.?

Around fellow members of her social class or at Farringham (mainly around people she doesn't like), Abby tends to draw on her upper-class background and act very posh. At Farringham, it's a subtle way of reminding whoever she's talking to that she's on an entirely different level compared to them and that she is their "superior" in a way. This is vastly different from the way she acts around her friends and family, where she's far more easygoing, cheerful, and supportive.

✂️ SCISSORS - What is the “last straw” for them to cut someone out of their life? How easily do they let go of people?

Abby has never cut someone out of her life before, so I'm not sure what the last straw would be. It would have to be something very big though, something so wrong and horrible that Abby couldn't immediately forgive it. It's not easy for Abby to let go of people. She hates losing people, especially those she loves.

💡 LIGHTBULB - Is your OC a planner? Do they write down every small detail or just wing it?

Abby is a planner. It comes from her nurse training. She tends to try to analyze every possible option and the outcome of each before acting on one. With the Doctor and his lifestyle though, sometimes there's no time to think things through and she has to wing it.

💎 DIAMOND - How rich are they? Can they live the lifestyle they want to?

As the sole remaining member of her family, Abby inherited quite a bit of money after her family's passing aboard the Titanic. She is considered a very wealthy (and thus desirable) young woman, but money isn't very important to Abby. It's mainly a tool she uses to live the lifestyle she wants - mainly, traveling the world.

🎁 PRESENT - What types of presents would they be most happy to receive? Are they good at gift giving?

Abby would be happy to receive presents regardless, but she'd be really happy if she got something she specifically wanted, rather than what someone thinks she should have based on their own expectations/experiences. Abby is good at gift giving! She has a knack for knowing exactly what people want.

🍼 BABY BOTTLE - What are their thoughts on children?

Abby is, initially, rather indifferent to the idea of having children. She likes children well enough, but she's not sure how she would do as a mother and is disinclined to go through childbirth. However, circumstances shift her point of view a bit. . .

🔪 KNIFE - How do they react to injury / misfortune befalling their loved ones (significant other, family, friends)? Do they put themselves at blame?

Abby doesn't tend to put herself at blame, but she does go absolutely livid at whoever caused the injury/misfortune. Her nurse training would win out over confronting that person though. She would much prefer to go ahead and take care of her loved one, making sure their injury was tended to as quickly as possible, and then tending to them through the recovery process.

👑 CROWN - What does your OC want to be remembered as? Why?

Abby doesn't want to be remembered as anything in particular, but if pressed, she would hope people remembered her as a caring individual who loved her loved ones fiercely and passionately.

I really associate Abby with these lyrics from 'Born to Fly' by Sara Evans. . .

🎵 MUSIC NOTE - What is their playlist like? Their favorite artists? Do you associate a particular song with them?

Abby's playlist would include quite a few orchestral tunes (as that was really all that was available in 1913), but after being introduced to other artists, she develops quite the love of pop music. She loves Taylor Swift, Judy Garland, and the Beatles, in particular. I really associate Abby with the song, 'Born to Fly', by Sara Evans, 'Untouchable (Taylor's Version)' by Taylor Swift, and 'Over the Rainbow' by Judy Garland (her and the Doctor's song!).

🎤 MICROPHONE - Are they good at singing? What is their go-to karaoke song?

Um, no. Abby can't hold a tune to save her life. Though what she lacks in skill, she makes up for in enthusiasm. Her go-to karaoke song would be 'Over the Rainbow' by Judy Garland or a Taylor Swift track.

🎷 SAXOPHONE - Do they play any instruments? Are they any good at it?

Abby does play the piano and she is rather good at it, but it's not something she does often. Usually, only when bored.

📚 BOOKS - How were they at school? What is their best subject? What is their worst subject? Do they have a favorite subject?

So, Abby was tutored at home by tutors and governesses. Her lessons included basic arithmetic and science, reading, writing, embroidery, Latin, French, German, flower arranging, etiquette, dancing, that kind of thing. Abby excelled at science, reading, writing, Latin, French, and German, but she could have cared less about the others. Her favorite subject was science, specifically, human anatomy.

👖 JEANS - What is their go-to outfit?

Abby's go-to outfit is usually a dress, or a skirt paired with tights, boots, and a long-sleeved top or sweater. Usually, this will be accessorized with earrings, a necklace, maybe even a ring or bracelet.

🎨 PALETTE - Can they draw? What do they like to draw?

Abby cannot draw and really doesn't draw anything.

🎡 FERRIS WHEEL - Are they someone who wants to kiss at the top of the Ferris wheel?

It's not a fantasy Abby ever thought about, but after being introduced to the concept, she would be eager to try and do that with the Doctor!

⏳ HOURGLASS - Are they usually late or on-time?

On-time. This was drilled into Abby, first by her mother, and then through her nurse training (the phrase, 'When nurses are late, people die' was used more than once during that training, and Abby took it to heart).

🔫 PISTOL - Do they trust people easily? How easily will they turn their back to someone? Have they been backstabbed before? Will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?

Abby does tend to trust people easily, at least those she likes. For people like the Master, Abby doesn't trust them at all. She's never been backstabbed before, but if she was, she'd immediately seek to do worse to the backstabber. If it was to save someone she loved, Abby might betray someone if given an ultimatum, but overall, she wouldn't ever betray anyone.

🎀 RIBBON - How would they fit into other worlds / au's? What au's would you like to try out? What fictional world would they fit / not fit into?

Abby would fit very well into the Downton Abbey universe, even the Peaky Blinders one. Basically, any period drama, Abby would fit right into it. The only AU I have for Abby right now is writing her into the Human Nature book by Paul Cornell; essentially, putting her in Redfern's place and having her be romanced by the Seventh Doctor and befriending Benny Summerfield. The only fictional worlds I can't see Abby fitting into are ones that involve the supernatural (Teen Wolf, Supernatural), and any superhero universes (the Arrowverse, et al).

Abby values science and art highly, though she's more likely to give more importance to science, just because she's a nurse, interested in curing people of diseases, so she'd pay more attention to scientific progress in that regard.

🔧 WRENCH - Are they good at fixing relationships? Or do they tend to avoid doing so?

Abby has never had to fix a relationship with someone before, so I'm not sure how good she'd be at it. We'll have to see if she ends up doing that at some point.

❇️ SPARKLE - What is their most prized possession? What do they value?

Her most prized possession is her father's cigar box, where she keeps photographs of her family, articles about the Titanic, and her unused ticket for the ship. Another prized possession is her stuffed black teddy bear, Leopold, a Titanic mourning bear produced by Steiff that a well-meaning family friend gave her a week after the tragedy. Leopold has a prized spot on her bed, and Abby sleeps with him every night.

📏 RULER - Is your OC well educated? Where did they get their learning from?

Abby is well-educated, having gotten a traditional education at home, as well as a good nursing education at a well-regarded nursing college. Abby is always eager to learn though, even if she doesn't think there are gaps in her education.

🚆 TRAIN - What is their answer to the trolley problem?

Abby would lobby for an answer that didn't involve killing innocent bystanders, no matter the number, suggesting that the driver somehow sacrifice themself instead.

🚲 BICYCLE - Can they ride a bike? What do they remember from learning to ride a bicycle?

Abby didn't learn how to ride a bike growing up (it just wasn't something girls of her social status in her time period were taught to do), but she does eventually learn from the Doctor.

Abby isn't scared of lightning. Actually, she rather likes storms, particularly if she's indoors curled up on the couch with a cup of tea and a good book.

💧 DROPLET - Random angst headcanon.

Only three members of Abby's family were recovered in the aftermath of the Titanic sinking. Her mother and two of her brothers were found, but they never found her father and other brother's bodies. It's something that haunts Abby, knowing they're spending eternity at the bottom of the Atlantic.

❄️ SNOWFLAKE - Do people consider them cold? If so, what made them this way?

Just the opposite. Abby is the warmest, most optimistic and eager person you've ever met. The idea of her being cold is rather laughable. That being said, she can become cold, typically if her loved ones are threatened or hurt.

🌪️ TORNADO - What is the biggest change you’ve ever made to them? How have they changed from their original version?

The only change I've made to Abby since first coming up with her is getting rid of her desire to become a lawyer like her father. I just decided it didn't really fit with the story I wanted to tell.

🌈 RAINBOW - What advice would they give to their younger self?

Never take time with your family for granted, always tell them you love them, even if it seems silly, because life can end at any time. Also, tomorrow is promised to everyone, so live each day with no regrets.

Abby doesn't have any self-destructive tendencies, nor does she have any habits that hinder her from becoming her best self.

☁️ CLOUD - A soft headcanon.

On the anniversary of the day they met, the Doctor likes to take Abby out dancing (mostly because he just loves it when she gets all glammed up, giving him a glimpse of the young woman she was before they met). No matter where they go, whether a ball being thrown by Henry VIII or an alien nightclub in the 33rd century, the Doctor always makes sure the band, orchestra, or whatever plays Judy Garland's version of 'Over the Rainbow', his and Abby's song, so he and Abby can dance to it.

🌟 GLOWING STAR - What do they think about when they look at the night sky? Is there someone they want to star gaze with?

Abby thinks of all the other worlds out there she'll eventually get to explore traveling with the Doctor. She would absolutely want to star gaze with the Doctor, and she does!

To bring her family back. No question about it.

☄️ COMET - What do people assume about them? Are they right?

People assume that Abby is very optimistic, plucky, eager for adventure, and not encumbered by anything, despite the major tragedy in her life. Generally, this is true, but Abby is deeply affected from losing her family. It has made her terrified of ever losing anyone else she loves, and she'll go to great lengths to try and prevent it from happening again.

💓 BEATING HEART - What gets their heart racing?

The Doctor. Also exploring a new planet or time period for the first time.

💘 HEART W/ ARROW - What traits do they look for in a relationship? Do they believe in love at first sight?

Traits Abby looks for in a relationship is passion, trust, intelligence, and compatibility. She doesn't believe in love at first sight, but she does believe in attraction at first sight, which is what she experiences with John Smith and, later, the Doctor.

💗 GROWING HEART - If they have a crush, is it noticeable? What changes when they’re in love?

It's pretty obvious when Abby has a crush on John Smith and, later, the Doctor. Nothing much changes when she's in love. The Doctor can still get her blushing and flustered years into their relationship.

Love languages Abby responds to are words of affirmation, acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. She also responds to receiving gifts, but not as much as the other four.

Abby definitely misses the Doctor when he's not around. She doesn't act very differently when he's not around, except to maybe try and finish whatever she's doing as quickly as possible in order to get back to him.

The Doctor hugging and kissing her definitely make Abby feel comforted, as well as her comfort foods of Oreos and banana waffles. It also helps her to watch her favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz.

Abby is probably more of a subtle lover, just because that was how she was raised and expected to behave towards a romantic partner, but I feel like she'd become showier later on.

💌 LOVE LETTER - Do they like love letters? What kind of messages do they leave for their partner?

Abby LOVES love letters! She's never gotten one before, but she loves the idea of them. Hence, after the Doctor learns about that, he endeavors to write as many love letter as possible for Abby, and vice-versa. Abby tends to leave little random 'I love you' notes in places the Doctor is sure to find them, as well as little reminders of tasks he needs to do and words of affirmation, particularly after rough or dark adventures.

💔 BROKEN HEART - What could their partner do that would absolutely break their heart?

Somehow leave them, mainly by dying. The Doctor dying would absolutely wreck Abby. So, she's in for a fun time in series 6. . .
