This is an interview that for once is not only with Deats but with Clive Bradely as well, Nocturne's writer and Ellis' replacement.

Before I start, I love how they talk about *that* ending like it's the hypest thing to ever hype. They know. They know what the fans only care about.

It ends with a clear and ready indicator that team is ready to tackle arguably the most iconic Castlevania narrative of all time, Symphony of the Night, as Richter and his allies find themselves bolstered in the darkest hour by the arrival of a familiar face… well, to us, at least, even if our young heroes aren’t as up on their Castlevania lore as gamers are.

Fucking peak. I love it. The gang is ready to tackle the SoTN story because even though they were about to die badly, after losing Tera, Alucard is there to save the day. Goddamnit if you suck his dick any harder you'll vacuum it off his body.

Also lol and lmao they cannot adapt SoTN at all. Where is Richter grappling with the fear that after killing Dracula his life is now done, making him easy prey for Shaft's manipulations? None of this can happen. Dracula isn't even around!

The character of Annette, trapped in a castle, made me think of Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame—this extraordinary woman who sweeps into France. It seemed an obvious step to make Annette a revolutionary from St. Domingue/Haiti on that sort of model.

This... sure is a train of thought. I'll just say N!Annette fucking wishes she had Esmeralda's charisma.

Later we had a Haitian adviser on board, Cècile Accilien, who helped us with aspects of the history and culture. We wanted it to be as authentic and grounded in reality as possible.

I just loved the idea of Richter’s grandfather as this bitter old guy who’s been through hell, lost his magic (which at the point they meet is also true of Richter)—kind of the opposite of Richter, or an image of how Richter could end up if he doesn’t evolve into the hero he needs to be.

Fuck off. I've already ranted about this. My poor man Juste deserves better than being "that one stupid asshole that exists as a warning".

I just wanted to add that Juste is a really special inclusion in the series for me, and Clive brought him into the show in a really great way that resonates really well with the Castlevania fan in me.

I don't like Deats. I know it's mean of me, but the more I read him talk, the less I like him as a person, he's just so conceited. I don't know who is the bigger hack between him and Flynn now.

So there’s almost a bit of a debate about Alucard’s design and whether he has intended to have pale blonde hair or white hair in Symphony of the Night based on the artwork of him and even his character’s sprite in the game. At the time of designing him in the original series, though, I decided to lean towards the pale blonde hair in order to invoke his mother, which was appropriate to the story. His hair got more saturated during lighting/compositing than I had ever intended, though, which was a constant frustration of mine. But even back then I tinkered with the idea that if we were to jump forward in time, to show how time has passed by leaning more towards the white haired direction (this also had the added benefit of not being something we would have to worry about getting over-saturated during lighting!).

Well, there you have it. N!Alucard's hair got lighter in-universe. I wonder if he changed color naturally or he decided to change his appearance.

welcome to tera-type! this is my agere + petre sideblog, with occasional posic and aesthetic posts. the bulk of this blog and the theme is pokemon, as it is very near and dear to my heart and helps me feel small.

my big age is 18, and i use he/him and she/her pronouns interchangeably. i’m under the non-binary umbrella and bisexual. i am black, disabled, and been in the regression community on and off since about 2018.

for age regression, my range is pretty vague but i do wear diapers for medical reasons. for pet regression, i tend to regress as a puppy! however, majority of the time this blog focuses on agere.

i’m aiming to make more posts that cater to the POC regressor community, especially those who are also queer.

technically speaking, i do not have a caretaker and i’m not really looking for one. i am taken romantically as well.

This is like, totally unrelated to any of the Lily stuff whatsoever, but I wanted to tell you because I thought it was fun

I used to be very neutral towards Gallade. I loved Gardevoir, but I didn't have strong feelings about Gallade one way or another. But always seeing your Gallade icon, hearing you talk about Gallade and knights, it made me really want to give him a shot. I happened upon a male Ralts in a tera raid, and Lancelot the Gallade joined my party soon after. I adore him so so so much. He looks so cool in battle, he hits hard, and he's an excellent False Swiper. I've been dipping my toes into shiny hunting for the first time, and he's been by my side all the way!

So basically, thank you for opening my eyes to the coolness of Gallade ^w^

gallades are just protective best buddies who look super serious, but you know deep inside are big softies who just want the best for you. how can you not love them?? i just have a lot of emotions about this knighlty pokemon and i'm so glad i had a part in more people learning to appreciate them!

I wonder how Whitney would be handled if they ever remade Johto again. She's supposed to be the Normal gym leader, but her Clefairy - which is also what her gym is shaped like - is no longer Normal type. But you can't just make her gym Fairy either because that would mean sacrificing her iconic Miltank.

My first thought was that if they made her Fairy, they could introduce a Miltank regional form that's Fairy type and have her use that, but it wouldn't make much sense to have a special "Johtonian Miltank" when regular Miltank is already from Johto (unless maybe the Fairy Miltank is introduced in a different region first?). I suppose they could also do the opposite and make a Johtonian Clefairy that's Normal type (since regular Clefairy is a Kanto Pokemon), but that sounds like it'd be an incredibly lame regional form.

Another option is to make her Fairy type but have Terastalization be in the game and make her Miltank Tera into Fairy. But that's also not a perfect solution either; because if we're introducing Terastalization into the game, then that means either every other gym leader Teras their ace into a type that it already is (which is kinda wasting the fun of the gimmick), or that every other gym leader's ace will need to be replaced, which I can't see them doing all for the sake of not changing Whitney's ace.

Ultimately I think the actual best, simplest solution and probably what they'd end up going with is just scrubbing her association with Clefairy entirely. Replace the Clefairy on her team with a Furret or something and change the layout of her gym so it's no longer Clefairy-shaped.

𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭: Recruit.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Laila is headstrong, opinionated, and very stubborn. She knows what she likes and doesn't like, and has no qualms about making those feelings known. She does not believe in "giving grace" to people's bullshit, you can have grace if you're a kid, if you're old enough to know better, you should act better. She can seem mean, and that's not unfair, she's VERY biased towards everyone who she considers as part of her circle, if you're outside of that, she can be extremely vicious, especially if you dare to hurt even a hair of one her people. She's not a big believer in forgiveness or second chances. One and done, hun.

Laila is very much the spoiled youngest child, and spoiled only child. She's the only child of her parents, and the youngest of all her cousins, thus getting double doting, and that shows. She's always done whatever she's wanted and gotten away with it very easily. She can be a little (a lot) narcissistic, and vain, but she's not naive nor does she live in a delusional, la la land fantasy where everything is about her and she's the centre of the universe. She does not think that, HOWEVER, she is very aware that due to her very lucky circumstances, a loving, powerful family, she can do whatever the fuck she wants, she doesn't have any pressure to do anything, there's no "you must marry a good/rich man, you must do this job, you must inherit this magic or this business", she's the baby princess, and she knows well how to take full advantage of that.

Laila is a little aloof and not particularly easy to get close to, though she can get along perfectly fine with people, she doesn't really bother to get to know them herself, and considers anyone outside of her circle as simply an extra in her life. She's not interested in being the centre of everyone's attention, except of course when it comes to her family, but that's just youngest child things. She has no problem speaking up in class, but prefers to do her own thing with her friends, and can be a little snobby, especially towards strangers. While she's not inconsiderate, she also won't act to spare someone's feelings. If you're not her friend, you're not her friend, she'll absolutely help a girl out in a sticky situation (always be a girl's girl), but you don't need to have brunch with her afterwards.

𝐒𝐭𝐲𝐥𝐞: Laila's personal style is "whatever I like", but in general her wardrobe tends towards classic, chic, and preppy clothes. When it comes to "ethnic" wear, she generally prefers Pakistani salwars, and relies on big brands like Sabyasachi and Manish Malhotra for more oppulent event wear. She also prefers salwars and lahengas over sarees, they're pretty but a hassle to wear. She can wear it so long as someone puts it on for her. She also HATES that the culotte trend is back and cannot wait for it die again. Laila is also very much a heel girl, from the first moment she ever got a pair. She's tiny, she needs that feeling of power.

𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲: Daughter of Turkish business woman Aleyna Burakgazi and Indian RAW Agent Vikrant Raichand, Laila is a djinn through her mother, though her father's family is no stranger to the supernatural either. While her father is by all means a normal (aside from his abs, they are not normal), her grandmother is an Astradhari, the bearer of an astra, a divine weapon, specifically the Agneyastra, the astra of the God Agni. She is also deeply knowledgeable about Kala Jadoo (black magic), but claims she does not practise it. It's a very unreliable claim 'cause it's well known that Dadi (paternal grandma) will fuck you up. While their grandmother has not yet decided which heir to make her successor and pass her astra on to, she has made sure to educate all of them of the power of Astras, the Gods, and kala jadoo.

Laila lived with her mother and more immediate extended paternal family (so her father's brother, his family, and their mother) in India until she was about 7, at which point she and her mother moved to Dubai, where her mother took over Raichand Industries Middle East interests. Her father often travels for work, and cannot maintain contact for extended periods of time, so his presence wasn't as constant as his family's, but whenever present he is always doting and spends time with her and her mother. She is definitely a daddy's girl, he's not the whole cause, but a significant amount of her being spoiled is absolutely his fault. But she is also very close to her mother and admires her very much.

Laila does not exactly have the best track record of controlling her djinn abilities, especially when she's angered. It wasn't too much of a problem growing up, she's mostly a homebody and surrounded by family, and people who know about the magical world, so losing control could be easily covered up and often didn't even need to be. However, one time, she, her best friends Kiran and Isabella, and some other friends went to a concert and as they were leaving, some grown ass adult kept hitting on Kiran, and they were literally 12 years old at the time, how disgusting. It was a kids concert too, like what is that guy even doing? Trash. In her annoyance, Laila exploded his hands, she wasn't aiming to do that, but she has no regrets either. That was a little bit harder to cover up, since it was in public, but ya know, it's Dubai, they're rich, buh-bai pedo. This was not the only time she lost control, but she assumes it was probably this incident that got her on the academy's radar.

Before getting the email, Laila was all set to continue her high school level education at the private school she was attending. Honestly, at first she thought it was spam, all the magic training she's received so far has been passed down generation to generation within family, so she wasn't even aware of Thistle Grove Academy's existence. She was unsure of whether or not to attend, she's already got her dadi and taiji (paternal aunt-in-law) for deeper magical instruction, her mommy for the basics, and she's a Raichand, she can get anything she needs at any time. Ultimately, she was convinced to attend by her one of her besties, Isabella, who is a legacy at Thistle Grove and also got the email.

𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬: Djinn (also romanized as jinn, anglicized as genies, as a being can also be analogous to an angel, demon, or fairy, but none are entirely accurate)

𝐀𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 & 𝐌𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜: Laila has a number of abilities as a Djinn, such as shapeshifting, mind control, astral projection and body possession, however, ultimately each distinct ability is governed by the same factor and all of them can be classified under the singular power of "Essokinesis", the ability to control reality, though Laila was taught that her power is to make HER wishes come true. Some guy touches her friend and she wants his bones to explode? Okay, boom. Papa's work trip is taking too long, oops, suddenly he's back in India. She wants Valyrian silver-gold hair, she got Valyrian silver-gold hair, that one can at least be hidden easily, you know how awkward it is when you're in the middle of a gun fight in an undisclosed location, and then suddenly poof into the centre of a massive Diwali celebration?

Because her magic is linked to her thoughts and desires, it's hard for Laila to control her abilities and prevent herself from making the silliest thing reality, to forcibly keep her powers from manifesting, she usually wears a simple gold taweez (amulet) given to her by her aunt-in-law's father, Zafar Khan Qadri, who is a Sufi of an Indian branch of the Qadiri Order (as a VERY quick, oversimplified explainary, a Sufi is basically someone who practices Islamic mysticism, honestly of the ones I've met and have been told about, they're more like nerds about magic in relation to Islam rather than a magical priest, but whatever, also Sufism is divided into a bunch of orders which all eventually trace back to Mohammad cause he the OG of everything).

7. My favorite type is Bug, followed very closely by grass. I am an unapologetic bug pokemon fanatic, so much so that in Pokeclicker I made my icon a bugcatcher. I want more legendary bug pokemon (There's only Genesect the mythical and... Bug type Arceus (The Mythical)/Type Null/Silvally (Finally Legendaries proper), and ... uh... I guess... that's it? I guess if you count Paradox Pokemon and Ultra Beasts there's Pheremosa, Buzzwole, and Slither Wing). Still the smallest contingent by a wide, wide margin.

I'm a big Jynx apologist a lot of people hate her because a. she sucks now, b. she has uh. a difficult design (It's based on a japanese cultural thing it wasn't MEANT to be read as blackface they recolored her face stop being MEAN TO HER, c. Smoochum is. Um. and d. just. Ice types (still kinda do even with snow's buff and Tera helping a lot) are tough to use. Now I get its probably reusing assets from the Scvi team since they were worked on roughly around the same time maybe. Not uncommon to do that, but this would mean these statues were the first instance that the tera icons were ever shown before Scarlet and Violet was even announced. They aren't in Sword and Shield!

LORE WISE who knows why they're there. They're used for the Regis typings in the puzzles inside the temple but for lore reasons, it's crazy to think Sinnoh and Paldea have anything remotely linking them to each other (besides the Pokemon Home connectivity to bring the Hisuian pokemon to Paldea soonish) they are so far apart XD

I love stumbling on tiny details like this, it's the Pokedex wearing down all over again! XD

Can you tell us more about Altaria? What's their personality? Can I pet them

Of course I can tell you more and I think it's nice of you to ask. Genuinely.

Altaria has been my partner since forever and she's the first pokemon I've ever trained, too.

I met her as an abandoned egg out in the snow, way before I had my accident. At first, we weren't even sure if anything would hatch out of it at all since the egg was so cold, and obviously, I had no idea how long it had been abandoned for either.

Luckily my parents allowed me to keep it, so I started with building a makeshift nest to keep it warm. I remember being so excited to see what'd hatch.

When it finally started to crack open and a little bundle of fluff and feathers emerged I was so proud of myself for saving the little thing. She was very weak at first and I started to understand that the mother probably knew the egg wouldn't have made it under her care in the wild and therefore abandoned it. But I was very happy to care for her instead.

Training her was a very slow process because she was quite frail and couldn’t take a hit, but we were both determined to not give up. Especially after I got into my accident it seemed like she felt the need to get even stronger which in turn caused her to evolve shortly after.

Then when I was scouted to be a gym leader and assembled my team, I was kind of afraid I couldn't have her with me since it's kind of daunting fighting with Pokemon you barely know.

But then I heard about changing your Pokemon's tera type at this restaurant in Medali and immediately went to try it out. It took a lot of meals until I got access to it but it was certainly worth it and now I can fight with her by my side which I'm grateful for.

I also have some old pictures from when Altaria was still a Swablu that I still keep around.

The ribbon you can see there is handcrafted and very old. When I was younger I was extremely passionate about contests and felt especially inspired by Lisia and her Altaria since I had my own Swablu right by my side. Of course, with my career as a snowboarder laid out for me, it was pretty clear I couldn't be a contest icon but whenever they showed contests from Hoenn or Sinnoh I was glued to the TV. Considering everything now a career change might have helped avoid all of this but I guess it doesn't matter now.

On a different note... Personality wise my Altaria is truly the greatest. She's loyal and very loving, eager to cheer me up whenever. She also loves peanut butter sandwiches, so if you got one of those ready she will let you pet her.

Okay still figuring out silly woy pmd au but here we go for initial ideas:

It's not based in a specific pmd game, just general PMD vibes. This means legendaries and canon PMD characters do not appear, but things like Mystery Dungeons and Pokemon Villages exist.

I am debating if Wander and Sylvia would just travel the land, or of they would travel through ultra wormholes to visit new areas? Pokemon villages/settlements would represent every planet, regardless.

Sylvia: Feraligatr, uses Z moves with Wander's help. Used to be a bounty hunter that worked as a grunt for a pokemon gang.

Wander: Mew (last of his kind, fits thematically) that transforms into a (now undecided) pokemon. Has terra fairy type. Tries to befriemd everyone lol.

Ms. Myrtle is Terapagos lol must be kept calm to preserve tera powers and the fabric of reality.

Lord Hater: Annihilape fits thematically? So does Incineroar... but he's a Big boss/gang leader wanting to take over areas to hear people chant his name. Big bully just wants friends...

Peepers: Patrat? I would have made him a pawnyard but watchdogs are meant to be kind of pathetic and squishy lol.

Watchdogs: Patrat and Watchog bc "Watchogs, eyes up!" is too iconic.

Lord Dominator: Hisuian Zoroark. Would probably transform into Guzzlord or 100% Zygarde or something scary like that for the Lava suit, and for her Night out disguise she would be Amped up form Toxtricity or maybe Salazzle. She def would be hopping through ultra wormholes, and as a Hisiuan Zoroark she comes from a very different time, to reference how Dee is meant to feel like she comes from a different show--badass anime villain. Vicious Pokemon battle era.

LD uses roly coly/Gigalith/etc as minions.

Emperor Awesome: either a Sharpedo or Gabite or... honestly the ugly Palafin fits too lol. Minions are Binacle to fit the sea theme.

Drakor: Drampa

Brad: Chesnaught or Gallade. Chesnaught fits for his cousin to be a quilladin.

BAM, type icons

If you're going to post pokemon art, you need type icons. So I drew my own!

Some of these are existing icons, some of these are self-made, and some of these are combinations of existing ones or tweaks to them.

Like for example, this normal-type icon. It's a combination of the icon for Normal in SWSH and before, and that of Battrio/Tretta. With a little bit of Mezas in there.

Fire and Water are pretty much existing icons (Water also being Battrio/Tretta). When I was designing Grass' icon though, I wasn't thinking of the icon from the Ranger series... I tried to add a little more energy to the icon for electric and forgot to color in the bolt dangit

I added a little aura to the fighting fist. Some respect to the very rare special category moves for fighting type. That's just the New Snap flying icon. I decided to take inspiration from Masters EX with the poison icon.. I like how it turned out. Ground's icon is just if MasEX and SWSH had a kid. Rock is also the MasEX icon.

I gave the bug icon little antennae! I cannot draw the moon. Psychic is just the tera jewel from SV. Ghost is a nice reference to one of my favorite series, leave a guess which series. Steel isn't inspired by any particular icon except maybe the modern one.

Ice is the MasEX icon with a dash of Mystery Dungeon DX. Dragon's icon is also the MasEX icon with a little mouth added. Fairy is some stupid hodge-podge of previous icons: GO-SWSH's weird light burst, Rumble Rush's heart, and the modern fairy symbol. oh my god i made the little tail ends too thin

And a bonus! Classic ??? type, and two fanmade types: Nuclear from Pokemon Uranium (awesome fangame go play) and Cosmic from Pokemon Infinity (also really cool).

WOW this got much longer than I anticipated. Whoops. Having never played Masters EX (i do not enjoy gacha anymore) I am surprised by how good the icons in it are.

Expect to see these used in future posts, and some touchups to them from time to time!

You won’t miss anything by not watching the series, it’s absolutely dull. The monster designs are boring (this is the most grievous offense to me, they’re all human-looking but with added body parts, shells/armor, wings etc), the most frequent action our protagonists do is running away, the characters share no similarity to their game counterparts (big oof with Juste), the main boss is especially lackluster compared to Dracula (even Netflix Dracula), the music is lacking and unimaginative, the voice acting combined with the animation/design is awkward, the aristocratic enemies are non-entities (they’re just npc vampires in powdered wigs, heck the Headhunter has more personality and they only have attack voicelines), the plot is Richter, Maria, Annette, and Tera have to defeat the vampire Messiah and their underlings along with a subplot about saving a friend (how is it different and better than the games which “have no story”), their modus operandi for giving the protagonist characters a backstory is to have their loved ones killed (heck even Olrox’s past lover was killed), and France was underutilized.

I noticed in the first three episodes how the series has regressed to NFCV S1 tier of generic monsters, when the rest of the og show actually tried to bring back iconic enemies - I remember smiling when I saw Karasuman! Hell, Abel stole the show in S4E6! What happened here?

I'm already seeing takes that always bringing Dracula back is boring and we need variety (which is the literal same argument moved against Eggman. I hate it here). And look, not only Castlevania, original name "Dracula's Demon Castle" is all about Dracula and his castle... but are the replacements worth it? The games gave us the likes of a corrupted Richter lamenting the fate of his clan, Walter the entertainingly sadistic lord serving all sorts of cunt, Isaac the cruel, insane, cunning yet tragic and loyal servant, Brauner who stole two girls and turned them into vampires out of grief, Barlowe the eerily realistic abusive cultist... only the Sorrow games are lacking in this department IMO. What did the show replace Dracula with, after swearing up and down that he's nothing but a dysfunctional dumbass? A girlboss? A cute rapist? An edgy redditor? Now a thundercat with her BDSM simp that wants to be Isaac so badly but doesn't have what made him charming? I also noticed how both animation and voice acting took a nosedive. The fight betwen Richter and BDSM mommy is 10 fps, and Sun Thundercat sounds like she recorded herself on a shitty flip phone. c'mon bruh those were like, the two things I could easily praise about the og show. what are you doing.

I also also noticed how everyone has a dead mom, or alternatively a dead sister, and now we have a dead lover because Olrox has to be a poor little meow meow too on top of the tiddies.
