Day 11 of “until i get bored” making pokemon teams for DBD survivors! This time: Jeff

NOTE: I tend to lean more towards giving them all fully evolved pokemon as I find that more fun (even though in the games not everyone has fully evolved mons) but you will occasionally see a few unevolved here and there, which i will try to explain. I DID NOT BUILD THEM TO BE COMPETITIVELY VIABLE. THESE ARE FOR FUN

I also like assigning each character 1-3 types that i feel best fit them because that’s how my brain likes to sort things

Jeffery “Jeff” Johansen: A kind, quiet artist who enjoys homemade beer and metal music. The latter helps him get his emotions out when thinking about his past.

Typings

Dark: Chosen based off of his interest in heavy metal as a way to get his feelings out. Not much else to say here.

Normal: He’s kind of just a guy. He’s calm, he’s down to earth, he’s a normal dude. I added this to kinda “dilute” the dark typing a bit since mono-dark to me leans more towards the sketchy image of a dark type trainer (haha get it. sketchy. because art?).

Note: I was tempted to give him Ice but went against it, because — even though he’s from a cold place — it didn’t really feel right to me as a primary since he’s not really “cold” in the emotional sense. I still gave him one ice type though.

Smeargle: A bastard in competitive Pokémon but a gentle painter in lore. Fits with Jeff being an artist and all that.

Vivillion (Tundra): In Jeff’s lore, when his parents split he was forced to go live with his mother, which made him extremely homesick. I like to think he caught this Vivillion, adorned with the patterns of his old city, to remind him of it when he left. When his father passed away, it became a permanent part of his team.

Zweilous: Jeff takes care of stray dogs. I can’t explain why, but this makes me think of a dog; a rowdy, messy dog, that only Jeff is able to calm.

(PARTNER 1) Mabostiff: Again, Jeff took in a stray (something close to a Boston Terrier implied by his masquerade mask) and this fella is a similar looking dog; notice the short legs and broad shoulders. It is very gentle despite how intimidating it looks, similar to Jeff, who was described as putting on an intimidating face to get through Highschool.

Obstagoon: A Pokémon based off of Glam-Rock and Heavy Metal bands (KISS specifically). He probably picked this fella up as a zigzagoon and evolved it till it could help him with roadie work (one of his first jobs).

(PARTNER 2) Walreign: A thick, strong walrus that Jeff has had since it was a tiny Spheal. It’s the backbone of Jeff’s team. He caught it at the beginning of highschool and evolved it to keep him safe from bullies who tried to pick on him for being (what they thought was) “shy”.
