the minute you say a number your readers can check your math and you cannot do math better than your most autistic critic. i guarantee. don't let your readers do any math. when did something happen? awhile ago. how many bullets can that gun fire? trick question, it shoots lasers, and it shoots em HARD.

you are lying to people for fun. if you let them do math at you the lie collapses and it's no fun anymore.

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

Every question Nicolas asked seemed to spin off another one. What was the difference between one malady and another? What about PTSD? Who decided? Was it possible to have more than one? What did it mean? It was probably more than could be reasonably expected for Daniel to answer- he was a well-researched journalist, not a clinician who could diagnose or treat mental illnesses. Nicolas left the conversation with half an idea more on the topic than he had started with, but ultimately feeling the whole subject was convoluted and confusing.

The book was almost as hard to read as it had been to tell. He'd weep sometimes, or have nightmares, or need to stop for a few hours, or a few weeks. Sometimes he'd have seemingly no reaction at all, only to blow up at Daniel about some unrelated, trivial thing days later.

One day, he approached Daniel with an anxiously irritable tone. "Daniel... in this chapter, you refer to the plays as a reenactment. What do you mean by that? I'm afraid you've misunderstood something. The plays weren't a reenactment of anything. This makes it sound like they were all one play, and they weren't. They were completely different."

Daniel was wandering the city in search of a story. He had no destination in mind. He wasn’t exactly sure what he was looking for, but knew he’d recognize it when he saw it. He needed a real unique story, something that would make his career and that no one else could write.

The sound of music drew him in. He found himself watching a performer busking on the corner. The young man was ridiculously pretty. The melancholy music seemed to flow from his very soul. The violin was an extension of himself. Daniel was in awe. He’d never seen anything like it.

A small crowd had gathered, a few of them dropping money for the talented performer. Daniel waited until the other people had dispersed, then he approached the musician. “You’re incredible,” he blurted out, immediately embarrassing himself. “I mean, I’m a journalist. My name’s Daniel Molloy and I’d love to interview you.”
