Charms of Fate: Chapter 9
Paring: Remus Lupin x Fem!Professor!Reader
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Plot: Amidst the echoes of a bygone era, you return to Hogwarts years after parting ways with Hogwarts. What begins as a journey fueled by nostalgia transforms into an unexpected reunion with Remus Lupin, now a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. As the past intertwines with the present, the two former classmates navigate the complexities of grief, the resurgence of friendship, and the unwritten chapters of their shared history in this tale of rediscovery and the magic that binds them together.
Warnings: so. much. fluff.
______________________________________________________
You had signed up to go to Hogsmeade as a chaperone. You were regretting it. Minerva and you had walked around the village, looking in different shops and things to buy for friends and family for Christmas. You had spent a particularly long time picking out a gift for the DADA professor, to which Minerva gave you a knowing look. You ignored that meddlesome old woman.
As the sun started to set, the two of you walked in the wake of the students, making your way back to Hogwarts. The day had been long, and your feet were feeling the strain.
"Oh, Minerva, I swear, I may never volunteer for this again," you grumbled, massaging your sore feet.
Minerva chuckled, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Ah, the perils of a field trip. Did you not consider bringing more comfortable shoes?"
You rolled your eyes. "I thought these would be fine. Turns out, I was wrong."
"Learning from experience, my dear," she teased. "Perhaps next time, you'll be better prepared."
You sighed dramatically. "Maybe I'll just stick to the cozy confines of my room. Who needs outdoor excursions anyway?"
Minerva laughed heartily. "I'm sure the students would disagree. But, fear not, we are almost home."
You couldn't help but smile, despite the discomfort. "Thank Merlin for that. I might need a week to recover from today."
Minerva's eyes glinted mischievously as she walked beside you, leaning over to you in a hushed whisper, "Well, my dear, if your feet are truly in agony, perhaps Professor Lupin could lend a helping hand."
You couldn't believe your ears and stumbled for a moment, genuinely shocked that someone as dignified as Professor McGonagall would make such a suggestion. "Professor McGonagall!" you exclaimed, your face flushing with embarrassment. "I… I can't believe you just said that!"
Minerva pulled back with a smirk, walking ahead, and ordering students to make sure to be in their dorms before curfew. You stood dumbfounded for a moment before recollecting yourself, heading inside the castle.
Like muscle memory, you headed straight towards Remus' classroom, where he had said he was going to hole himself up in so he could finish up grading papers and get ahead on lessons for after the break.
You knocked twice before letting yourself in. Remus stood by the window, watching the sunset. He turned as you drew near, setting your bags down on an empty desk.
"Busy today?" he asked.
You groaned. "You have no idea. My feet are killing me. Feels like they're gonna fall off."
Remus chuckled. "Yeah, I heard those trips can be grueling. Surprised Minnie can still keep up."
"I think she put some kind of charm or something on her shoes, who knows. Maybe I should look into it. Though, I highly doubt going back to Hogsmeade all day is in my future."
Remus smiled, nodding to your bags. "What did you buy?" he asked.
"Oh, just some gifts for family and friends," you replied, shrugging your shoulders.
You reached into your bag and pulled out a small, carefully wrapped package, adorned with festive paper and a ribbon.
"I got you a little something for Christmas," you said, handing him the gift. "Figured I give it to you since I won't see you until the beginning of the next term."
Remus looked pleasantly surprised. "Oh, you didn't have to get me anything. Thank you."
He unwrapped the gift with a smile, revealing a beautifully crafted leather-bound notebook. "It's a journal," you explained. "I thought you could use it to jot down your thoughts, or maybe it could be handy for lesson planning."
Remus ran his fingers over the smooth leather cover, his eyes reflecting gratitude. "This is thoughtful, thank you. I'll make good use of it, I promise."
"Oh!" you exclaimed, reaching into another bag. You put a hefty amount of chocolate bars on his desk. "I figured you were still a chocolate fiend, given that night in the kitchen and all."
Remus couldn't help but laugh, genuine and heartfelt. "You know me too well. Thank you, really. This is sweet of you."
Remus grinned and held up a finger towards you, motioning for you to wait a moment. He walked over to his desk, opened the drawer, and carefully retrieved a wrapped gift. "Here you go," he said, handing it over with a gentle smile.
You accepted it with curiosity, tearing open the wrapping paper to reveal a muggle book. Pride and Prejudice. "I remembered you mentioning this one during our conversation a while back. Thought you might enjoy it," Remus explained.
Your eyes lit up with delight, touched by his thoughtful gesture. "A while back? Do you mean fifteen years ago? Remus, this is perfect! Thank you so much," you said, genuinely grateful for the gift.
In response, he chuckled warmly, his eyes reflecting a mixture of happiness and a hint of bashfulness. "Well, I remembered you mentioning your love for literature, and I thought this might be a good addition to your collection."
Grateful for the thoughtful present, you couldn't resist the impulse to express your appreciation. With a beaming smile, you pulled him into a spontaneous hug. Remus, though slightly taken aback, soon embraced you in return. His arms wrapped around you securely, and you could feel the steady rise and fall of his chest. There was a tenderness in the way he held you, as if cherishing the moment.
Remus nuzzled into the crook of your neck, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine. The softness of his touch as he petted your hair was both comforting and intimate.
As Remus embraced you, a subtle but distinctive scent emanated from him, creating an olfactory tapestry that spoke of warmth and comfort. The earthy undertones, reminiscent of damp soil and fallen leaves, seemed to linger in the air, grounding you in the moment. Intertwined with this was a faint whisper of chocolate, like a mug of hot cocoa on a chilly winter's day.
As you leaned into his hug, the unique blend of scents became more pronounced. There was a comforting familiarity to it, as if each fragrance was a chapter in the story of his life. The subtle musk, not overpowering but present, reflected the quiet strength that defined Remus Lupin.
As you both pulled back slightly from the hug, Remus's warm hands found their way to your face, cradling it with gentle care. His amber eyes, filled with a mixture of emotions, locked onto yours, and in that fleeting moment, you sensed an unspoken understanding between you. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation, and before words could bridge the gap, Remus closed it with a tender kiss.
In that stolen moment, time seemed to suspend, allowing you both to savor the sweetness of the kiss and the shared emotions it carried. Remus's lips, soft and tender, spoke volumes about his feelings, leaving you with a sense of warmth and belonging that lingered long after the kiss had ended.

Ooh prompts! How about albus handling the post-lily year a bit too heavy-handedly, it goes south, and minerva is LIVID :3
Minerva focused
Loved this prompt, such a thing had been on my mind for quite a while as a continuation of one of my fics - I'll be posting it as the next chapter too. I have just changed the timeline, as I do not imagine Minerva vehemently defending Severus in their first year as colleagues. This is the beginning of his third year. I suppose I could write one where Severus gets furious too, but I am sure this would not work in his first year as a teacher; rather ten years later ahah
Power play
Well, let’s see. There were five essays left to grade, including that one still soaked in black ink – that is unfortunate, she had told Mr Longbourg before picking it up with the tip of her fingers. She lowered her gaze. Bugger. They were still stained.
Then there was patrolling to do for an hour, and some sewing to tackle, because her right sleeve was in dire need of mending – ah, and before that, a short meeting with Albus, to get the updated list of next year’s young recruits. She sighed heavily and turned around, heading towards the headmaster’s office. She hoped that this time, he would be mindful of his handwriting. Albus Dumbledore was a talented wizard, but he wrote as neatly as a muggle doctor when he was in a rush, and she spent enough time already trying to decipher her student’s poor attempts at calligraphy.
“Truffe au chocolat”, she said in a dry voice as soon as she stepped in front of the gargoyle. She felt a tinge of regret at the thought she was the one who had encouraged Albus to go back to Savoie in the Summer when two students behind her glanced over their shoulder, and started sniggering.
She climbed the flight of stairs quickly. The door to the office was opened. She was about to get in when the echo of a voice stopped her in her tracks: it was Albus’.
His voice was cold, almost menacing, unusually low. Her mind, still infatuated with the image of the adorable, foolish old man who had not ceased to speak about Chambéry chocolates since the beginning of the term two days ago, did not quite comprehend how that voice could be emanating from the same person. She froze completely.
“I expected better from you. Do you not see how Mr. and Mrs Sweeney will be valuable assets to us when the time comes, Severus? Is there any need to treat their son this way? Do you take pleasure in belittling children?”
“I don’t understand what you mean, headmaster. I have... told you before that your definition of a “harmless prank” differs from mine. Mr Sweeney deserves the detention, and I stand by my decision.”
“You are hounding the boy.”
“No. He is neither special nor important, and I intend to teach him so. You usually do not meddle with my decisions, headmaster. Am I to understand Mr Sweeney deserves special treatment?”
Minerva raised her head. That is bold of him.
“Mr Sweeney deserves equal treatment, Severus – all Gryffindors do. You will call off this detention at once.”
A pause.
“I cannot do that, headmaster. With all due respect, this would embolden the students to -”
A chair being pushed back.
“This is an order, Severus. I am not leaving you a choice. I am tired of your methods, and tired of the parents’ complaints. You cannot rule by Terror alone.”
“I have no other choice, headmaster”, Severus replied. It was subtle, but even Minerva did not miss it: his voice was trembling slightly.
There was another pause. She thought of clearing her throat, or perhaps turning back – but Albus’ voice rose again.
“You have a choice, Severus. You always do, and yet again you take the easy way out. You do not try. I don’t know what I am to do with you.”
There was no reply.
“Do not forget why I have taken you in, Severus. We are building a network. I will not have you jeopardize the school’s reputation or my plans because of your personal vendettas.”
“Headmaster-”
“Do not disappoint me again, my boy.” A pause, clearly planned. “You owe me as much.”
“What is the meaning of this?”
Both men turned their heads towards the threshold of the office, taken by surprise. Minerva, herself only half-conscious of her movements, made her way towards the desk.
“What, Albus, is the meaning of this?” she repeated, stopping right next to Severus. The young Potion Master was hunched in an armchair, his shoulders down in defeat; the headmaster, standing tall, was on the other side of the desk, his hands clenched on the edge of the wooden surface. He was looking at her with slight confusion.
“Minerva”, he greeted her. He took a step back from the desk. “I apologise; Severus and I had not planned for this meeting to last this long. Please, have a seat.”
The Potion Master immediately rose to his feet, his face a mask of complete indifference.
But his eyes, there was something in his eyes, pain, anger perhaps– Minerva caught his arm.
He froze, his gaze locked on her hand.
“Albus,’ Minerva said slowly, still peering at Severus, “of all the vile things I had to hear in my life, what you have just said to Severus must be one of the worst.”
There was a slight change in the headmaster’s countenance. He frowned, and his face contorted – it was both sudden and disconcerting.
“Minerva, please”, he told her quietly. “This only concerns Severus and I.”
“Severus was right to punish Mr Sweeney”, the deputy headmistress replied, still refusing to let go of Severus’ arm. “And I will make sure his parents pay for the acquisition of his classmate’s new cauldron. I often complain about Severus’ methods, they are rather harsh, I must admit – you have consistently insisted on each teacher’s right to their own modus operandi. You know that I disagree with that.” She paused. “You cannot speak like this.”
“This does not concern you”, the headmaster repeated blankly.
Severus’ face had turned as white as a sheet. He did not dare make eye contact with either of them, and looked obstinately at something in the far distance.
“But it does concern me, Albus”, Minerva replied, thin-lipped.
Her tone was hard to describe, many-layered and, or so it would seem to the careful listener, surprised at itself, respectful still, perfectly certain of its legitimacy.
Albus’ gaze made direct contact with his colleague’s.
“It does”, she went on. “Aren’t you the one who told us last year that the boy’s well-being concerned us? That this whole situation requires collective effort? Or does this only apply to us? Enlighten me.”
The headmaster was looking at her gravely. He had recovered from his surprise, regained his natural charisma: one glance from him and Minerva felt herself wavering, for a second incapable of justifying to herself why, out of the two men present, her enemy wasn’t Severus.
It should have been natural. She and Albus on one side of the office, the boy on the other. It should have been natural.
Was there something new?
“My dear professor, please be mindful of your tone”, Albus told her politely, though his voice was firm and low. “It is my responsibility to keep the staff in line, as you know.”
Minerva pursued her lips.
“I am aware. And does that involve humiliation? Power play? Albus… I have seen you do better.”
He flinched, and once again she felt her assurance falter – but she was right, and she wanted to tell him acidly, to mutter angrily, need I remind you that the boy is fragile?
And there was more. An awful feeling of discomfort, the uncovering of something truly vile that terrified her.
“As my deputy, I ask that you follow my lead, Minerva. I assure you there are no hard feelings between Severus and I.”
As if the mention of his name had broken his trance, the Potion Master finally freed himself from Minerva’s grasp, taking a step back. He cast a defying glance at Dumbledore, he could not help it – the headmaster raised an eyebrow. He lowered his head.
“There is no need for this, profess- Minerva. This is nothing serious”, he told her drily.
For a moment, the deputy headmistress looked as though she was going to burst out. Her jaw contracted painfully as she closed her mouth tightly, at a loss for words. She used a few precious seconds to calm down, careful for her silence to not last too long. She did not want to look upset: it was not the kind of person she was. She was composed, and grave, and rigid, and that was how she would handle the matter.
“Like I said before, Mr Sweeney deserves this detention. As his head of house, I insist on it.”
Dumbledore took a deep breath in. He, on the other hand, did not bother to hide his growing frustration.
“I have already established that this detention is not justified, Minerva. You will handle the matter accordingly.”
A pause.
“No.”
“I beg your pardon?”
“You have heard me, Albus.”
A longer pause – one filled with tension, almost electric, terribly heavy. It was the first time Minerva was opposing her superior, her friend, so frontally; never before had any of their many disagreements turned into a violent confrontation.
Under his scrutiny she felt like a little girl, like the young teacher that had cried in his arms after the marriage of Dougal. He had been there too, when Dougal had died. The boundless empathy he had shown, the strong and reassuring hand he had extended to her each time - she had thought, vaguely, foolishly perhaps, that it had been extended to Severus also. Albus had taken in him, had defended him, had nursed him, and this all was genuine, she could swear it.
But there was something foul. A sort of… a repulsive kind of submission that Albus demanded as payment.
He liked the boy. But the boy was complicated: he was defiant, and stubborn. She had thought that, like her, when he showed signs of frustrations, he could simply not understand this behaviour. She had shared his annoyance. She had complained about the Potion Master, confronted him, called him out sometimes even during staff meetings. And this had been carried out, always, on equal footing. There had even been some cup of teas shared afterwards, in her office. But Albus did not expect to argue. He did not expect Severus to yield before reason. He expected him to yield, because he had been brought to the castle under such condition.
Was it servitude? When Severus had lowered his head just a moment ago?
“Severus”, Albus said slowly, “you are excused.”
The Potion Master was looking at Minerva, a strange expression on his face. It seemed as though he was going to say something, his muscles contracted in contradictory ways.
Finally, and not without violent struggle, he seemed to decide against speaking, nodded confusedly, and turned back.
He disappeared in the staircase. Albus’ gaze lingered on the threshold for a moment. When it returned to Minerva, he looked furious; still, when he spoke again, his voice was calm.
“What has gotten into you, Minerva?” he asked simply, his tone exaggeratedly casual.
He was looking at her intensely. She looked back; he held her gaze. For a moment she felt as though he was going through her mind, looking for clues – then, slowly, he sat down.
“Do not patronise me, Albus. This is not about me.”
“Indeed. And yet we have not closed the subject.”
She squinted slightly.
“You gave the boy a second chance. I thought it was generous of you. He does owe you his life. But you, of all people…” she was lost in thought for a second, searching for the right words. “Why do you hold this above his head? Why do you… expect him to bow before you for that reason alone? We have always spoken. Argued, even. You listened. Why do you not extend this favour to Severus?”
Albus smiled.
“I am glad to see that you now care for the boy, Minerva.”
“That is not what this is about!”
She was livid. Albus tilted his head, searching for her gaze once more.
“Answer me”, she said sternly.
He sighed.
“The boy needs to be disciplined, Minerva. For his own good.”
“Perhaps. But even when you disagreed with my choices, even when we held vastly different opinions, Albus; I was never, in all these years, under the impression that I could disappoint you.”
He frowned.
“You could never disappoint me, Minerva”, he replied, and for the first time since they had started talking there was a slight trace of weariness in his voice. “I care about Severus. He is important; more than he knows. I need to bring him in line.”
“You had countless colleagues – employees – that proved to be more or less insubordinate. It never really mattered. But Severus… he is different, is he not?”
The older man did not reply. He handed her a long parchment, which she recognized to be the list of addresses she had come to retrieve. She did not move.
“Indeed, Minerva. He is different.”
She put the parchment under her arm.
“I have disagreed with you countless times tonight, Albus. I have shown myself to be defiant, even insolent at times. You listened to me. You replied. You expected reason, and not mere hierarchy, to settle this matter.”
She glanced at Severus’ empty chair.
“You will extend this courtesy to the boy, Albus.”
_
It had been both an order and a plea.
Minerva McGonagall held on to a strict, crystal-clear image of Albus Dumbledore, one that comforted her even when her own moral compass wavered. She was brave, intransigent, heroic; but she was not fearless. One thing only could trouble her, and it was the disturbance of her strongest beliefs, of the pillars of her soul. For her sake, Albus Dumbledore needed to conform to the idea she had of him.
Severus had not. Severus had changed everything.
Her mind, her neatly ordered inner-self could not afford to be derailed again.

The bet || Harry Potter
Pairing: Fred Weasley and George Weasley x Platonic/Reader (Tiny not so tiny George Weasley x Reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: You had a normal life at Hogwarts, until the Weasley twins decided they weren't going to leave you alone anymore, and what was the reason? You would give five galleons to anyone who knew the answer.
Word Count: 4,0k
Tumblr media
It was still early, I was walking through the corridors towards the Great Hall when two red-haired figures appeared in my sight.
"Hey Y/N!", one of them waved cheerfully at me, I still had no idea which one. "Why do you suddenly look tall today?", the other said with a smile, which made me want to punch him.
"Why are you suddenly more annoying today? It sounds like a serious illness, so excuse me, I don't want to catch this", I walked as fast as I could so they couldn't keep up with me.
I could hear their laughter behind me and the whispering but decided not to pay attention to what was said, that would bring me more calmness.
And why do I basically run away from them? It is very simple.
One day I was just another Ravenclaw student, and the next day I had the attention of the most popular twins at Hogwarts.
They liked to tease me about absolutely everything, no matter if I was just sitting down reading or trying to concentrate in a class, one of them would find a way to annoy me.
I never tried to differentiate which was Fred and which was George, it made no difference, they both seemed equally annoying to me and knowing who is who was not going to guarantee me anything.
"Hey, wait. We have a deal for you", the tallest of them spoke with a grin plastered on his face as he walked up to me in stride.
"And why should I agree? Anything coming from you guys is pretty suspicious", I replied with my eyes screwed tight and crossed my arms.
"Because you can have your quiet time again, we won't tease you anymore as far as possible", the other said with a small smile and I stopped to think for a few seconds.
"Well, that sounds good enough, and what do I have to do? You're going to have to get something out of this, obviously", I still remained in the same position analyzing the two, who seemed to be enjoying themselves more every second.
"You'll have to guess who is who at the end of the day", one of them started and my face dropped at the same moment."Since we're nice, we'll just say it once", the other added.
"What if I don't succeed then? If there's a prank, I'm out."
"There won't be anything out of the ordinary, just an extra dose of us", I took a deep breath just imagining what my life would be like with these two following me around the castle. "So are you going to accept or not?", he raised an eyebrow.
I took a deep breath and looked away, a good opportunity had fallen into my hands but I would have the rest of my peace lost if I didn't win, which would be no small thing but a part of me was just screaming to accept it at once, the competitive part, the part that was going to win this little challenge.
"I accept, it won't be that hard", I replied with a smile, a wave of confidence built up inside me and I really thought it wouldn't be a problem at all.
"Okay then", they just walked past me and kept walking and if I could see my forehead, a big question mark would be hanging there, "Hey? You still have to tell me which is which, it was part of the deal", I said, taking a few steps behind them but they soon stopped and looked at me.
"Oh, you're so confident, do you really need us to tell you who's who?", I clenched my hands tightly to hold back the urge to kill him.
"Of course I don't need to but... HEY!It's not polite to leave a person talking alone", they had the audacity to walk off and wave at me on top of that.
7:30 a.m.
I wasn't going to get any help from them, why did I expect to get any? Obviously they don't want me to win but I will and they will have to swallow that. That's my new goal today, screw the herbology paper.
But now it would be more difficult, few people would know the difference, I would have to ask one of his friends or one of the other Weasleys who studied at Hogwarts.
I wasn't intimate with any of them but I had classes with some, we never spoke but I will change that today.
I just hope they actually tell me something useful, one of the twins could have easily told no one to help me and made everything even more difficult.
8:25 a.m
"Hey Kate, what's up?", I said with a smile just as she was about to pass me down the hall, it was really worth it to eat fast or I wouldn't have made it in time.
The expression on her face already told me everything, the same gleam in her eye that twins have when they are disturbing me, why do I get the impression that it won't be so easy?
"Good morning Y/N, do you need anything?", she said leaning against the wall with a mischievous smile that I chose to ignore. "Actually yes, you should already know, the Weasleys challenged me to set them apart and you as a friend should know how, anything is useful, anything really", I liked that she was direct because I could be too. I don't like wasting time with small talk, especially when I don’t have too much time.
"They actually told me it would happen, but they didn't tell me more details, what happens if you lose? Some kind of prank I bet.
"They will annoy me twice as much as they already do, I don't know how you manage to be friends with them, she stared at me for a few seconds and then grinned. "What?"
"I'll help you since you're asking me but maybe you'll soon see that it wouldn't be so bad to lose", I just nodded without really believing it would happen. "Fred is louder and generally more annoying, George is quieter and more careful. You can find out more by noticing for yourself, I'm going to get going, I want to practice a little before class begins", she pointed to the castle entrance.
"Thank you so much Kate, I'll owe you this one. See you later", I smiled and waved as she walked away from me after waving as well.
Now I know the basics but they might try to trick me, switch places or pretend to be the other one. I have to be prepared and there is only one way.
9:00 a.m
The bell rang and the halls filled with heads hurrying not to be late, especially the poor first year students heading for the dungeon. I could see some shaking on the way out of the Great Hall but my destination was completely different, I headed up the stairs along with the other forty years to Minerva's class.
There was no sign of any of the twins, if they had decided to skip this class my plan was destined to fail.
The class was about to start when the two of them entered without any hurry and I smiled internally for having kept an empty chair next to me, just in case.
"Are you gentlemen having a problem with your audition? The bell rang five minutes ago. This kind of behavior is not tolerated, Mr. Weasleys. Minus ten points for Gryffindor", her angry voice boomed, and no one seated dared to breathe.
"It won't happen again, professor", I was surprised not to hear any funny remarks as a comment and I'm sure she was too but didn't show it.
"Sit down and open your books, let's move one more step forward from yesterday's lesson...", she continued talking but I barely paid attention after one of them sat down next to me.
"So, you're George, you can tell me now that I already know", he looked a little surprised for a few seconds but soon regained his posture.
"How did you guess it? I didn't even say anything", he said looking at me intently and I just shrugged, I wasn't about to say since this is clearly a plus for me.
"That's a secret that will stay with me, it wasn't that hard", I commented, dipping my quill into the ink to start writing what Minerva was going over on the blackboard.
Behind us it was possible to hear Fred's excited whispers that I had learned to ignore after all these years. Now it seemed so much easier, it's not as if I hadn't noticed them both all this time, it's a bit impossible since they make themselves present everywhere.
We remained silent, since this is the only way I can concentrate. I even mentally thanked him for that, but it didn't seem to do any good today. My attention kept being drawn to the red-headed boy next to me, I couldn't help it.
Internally I blamed it on my will to win, because to do so I would have to pay more attention to him, that's all my body wanted to do, focus on George Weasley.
I only realized that I was crossing the line when I noticed that his cheeks started to take on a reddish tint and a shy little smile appeared. To make matters worse, there was Fred's giggles, who was watching everything with the best view; there was no way I could get away with this.
After this awkward moment, I forced myself to pay attention even though my desire was to get out of there, since he now decided to start watching me not as discreetly as he thought he was being. I was much better at that.
"Is there a problem?", I mustered up the courage to ask when it was already 15 minutes before the bell rang again.
I noticed him bite his lips and crack a small smile before looking forward again, "why would there be a problem?"
"You were looking at me", I answered quietly so as not to draw attention from the other students and especially from Minerva who was passing between the desks checking to see if everyone was practicing the spells correctly.
"You were looking at me before that, discretion is not your specialty, you know?", I was a few seconds without knowing how to answer that and in the meantime, I could see him savoring the fact that he had left me speechless.
"Yes, I was watching you to differentiate you better from your brother, and why were you looking at me?", I spoke in a direct tone looking him straight in the eyes and the other redhead's laughter sounded behind us and George gave him a nonchalant look, as did the woman, who had just passed us.
"Is something wrong Mr. Weasley?", she asked and of course, everyone around us had to pay attention too, because they had nothing else interesting to do.
"No, I just remembered a joke I heard, I could tell you if you want. I assure you it is very funny", he assured holding back the urge to laugh even harder.
"Your little jokes stay outside the room Mr. Weasley, and you all, if you haven't perfected today's transfiguration can get back to work", she caught everyone's attention and continued walking peacefully.
We ended up getting distracted from the main subject, he obviously took the chance of not answering me and just kept on training as I did.
12:00 a.m
We had the next 3 classes together and I stayed close to them and their friends as well. As I imagined everyone was very nice to me, we could have become friends much sooner if we weren't stuck in a fixed group of friends.
Some things had become much clearer in my head and others even more blurred. They didn't seem to be picking on anyone but me, although it hadn't happened all day. Then why? I was going to find out.
"Will you come sit with us today?", Katie said with an arm around Angelina's shoulders, both looking at me with a smile that wouldn't let me deny them anything.
"Sure, I'd love to. It's kind of funny that we have more things in common than I expected", I remarked as we walked slowly, with the hasty crowd in front of us. I would usually be with them but it's much better this way, time is not as important as catching up with everyone.
"I had no idea you liked quidditch, have you thought about joining the Ravenclaw team?", Angel, as she asked to be called, inquired and at that moment, I should but I didn't notice her gaze leave me and go to the twins, several times.
"I'm not as good at playing as I am at watching, so I prefer to stay in the stands", I replied with a small smile until I noticed everyone in that small group communicating with their eyes, which I chose to ignore.
"So Angeli, since when did you start playing?", I started the subject that was going to last throughout the entire lunch hour and it couldn't be better.
Everyone had some story to tell, I must admit that Fred's and George's were the funniest. At no time was there any kind of awkward silence, or a moment when I was not included in the conversation. I did notice that some of my classmates were surprised that I sat there, but in general they were looking at us because of the noise. Their special talent was talking, which I found refreshing since I could hear more and talk occasionally.
The worst part of it was that I ended up not paying as much attention to either George or Fred as I had planned, although now I know a little more about both of them and my new friends.
3:00 p.m.
After two classes of Aritmancia, I had a free period and many homework assignments to do and as I walked to the library, a familiar voice called out to me.
"Y/N!", I turned around and was faced with George and his broom near the stairs, not so far from me, "We are going to practice a little, do you want to come too?", I was about to say no, as I was already busy but then I remembered, I still had to guess who was who at the end of the day.
I had really forgotten and started to enjoy their company, I had to remind myself that I wanted to win and that it made perfect sense to spend some more time with him, if it meant that I could guarantee it. Or at least, I tried to convince myself of that.
"Sure, who else will be training?", I asked as I walked over to him and then we walked together to the castle entrance and towards the field. "Just Angelina and Fred, the others have classes or something to do," and I just nodded in agreement.
We hadn't spent any time alone since Transfiguration class and I didn't know what to say, as did he but I didn't feel uncomfortable, just lost in my own thoughts.
"You came to watch half the best quadribol team play today. You won't regret it," Fred was the first to speak up as soon as we arrived and I could only laugh, how could one person be so confident? I needed some tips.
"My expectations are higher than you Weasley, you better not let me down after that speech," I wasn't trying to be funny but I heard a chuckle come from the redhead next to me. "You're not out of it George, none of you. But remember, no pressure. I'm only going to judge a little bit," I said smirking, not really taking any of the words I said seriously.
"Go sit down and prepare to be impressed," the black haired girl gave the last words, grabbed her own broom and flew to the three right hoops as I hurried to the stands.
Luckily, I didn't miss much and less than 5 minutes later, I could tell with certainty how good the three were. They took turns as goalkeepers for Angelina, even though it wasn't really their position in the game. And after 15 minutes, the dynamic changed for the two of them to try to hit her, one at a time, for them to practice as beaters.
But honestly, I paid much less attention than I normally do. I couldn't tell them apart from so far away, and this realization made me face the shameless excuse I had created for myself. I just wanted to be there, and the reason for that I wouldn't say out loud.
More than 30 minutes later, the three of them instead of landing on the ground, came flying towards me and stopped by my side.
"So you can talk about how impressed you are now", I pretended to think for a few seconds and the indignation on his face was so funny I almost didn't say it but after such an arduous training like that, they deserved it.
"You guys were amazing, if someone from another house could watch the official training sessions I would really come to see more", I smiled and it was extremely adorable to see George's already red face redden even more after my compliment.
"You already know you can't watch the official practices, we are finally starting to understand each other", Fred said and took a step to hug me and I immediately took one back. "You're soaking wet Fred Weasley, don't even think about it. This is not the time for hugs".
"But I think it's a good idea sweetie, you can't hide from a Weasley, so just accept it", he said with an evil grin on his face and I was ready to run, I hated sweat especially when it wasn't mine but his long legs came into action once again.
"That's the most disgusting thing I've ever experienced, so you have something to be proud of after all", I complained, pulling away seconds after he had cornered me in the hug, which wouldn't have been so bad if it had been any other time.
"If that's the grossest one, you really don't know what's waiting for you honey. This is just the beginning," Angel said with a satisfied smile on his face. "But we better go now, I need a shower and we still have one last class today," she added and flew out of there after waving to us.
"Yeah, I need to take a shower too, I'll see you guys later," Fred said before getting out of there as quickly as possible, leaving me alone with George again.
"Well, do you want a ride? It's much quicker to get down that way," he smiled slightly at me and I agreed without a second thought.
I held his bare arm, because I thought it was better than hugging him and regret appeared immediately because I always had some issues with flying. It wasn't the worst thing in the world but it was far from being one of my favorites.
All I could do was close my eyes as we crossed the field, my hands automatically closed around his arm, the weather was windy and I could feel the shivers that went through his now red skin as well as mine.
It was a few seconds if I'm really honest but it didn't feel like it to me, I've never picked up a broom other than for classes and it's been a long time since I stopped having fun in those classes.
I was brought out of my thoughts when I felt my feet on the ground again.
"I'll see you later then, I haven't forgotten about the bet. You better be prepared," he gave me a beautiful smile and the consequences of that is the only thing I wasn't prepared for.
5:00 p.m.
There are those moments when you have to stop and ask yourself, what the hell is happening to me? For countless reasons obviously, and it was my turn. I didn't come up with any answers that made me blind to reality, which was really frustrating because that way it would be easier for me to just ignore.
But nobody told me it was going to be easy, which is a shame because I would have someone to blame.
All this played out in my head before I received an owl from them, telling me that I could go to the Gryffindor common room to finish our bet, along with the password for the day. I was prepared after being warned by basically all their friends, all I could think of on the way there were some spells, mainly revenge because I wouldn't let it go if there really was a prank.
But what happened was quite different, the place was quieter than I imagined, although they had many people sitting and talking normally including Fred and George.
"Oh hello stranger, you have finally decided to give us the honor of your presence, I can say for everyone, we are all grateful," I had barely stepped into the room when Fred spoke up with the most sarcastic smile I have ever seen, should I be confused?
"If I get all this reception every time I come here, I will definitely come back more often. Thank you, I feel very welcome," I said with an equally big smile, causing him to roll his eyes.
"Okay smartass, it's time for your answer," he continued speaking, the same voice but now that I was close, in front of them, I noticed that there was something very wrong there.
"Why are you talking like that George?", was my only thought, they were imitating each other, the voice was extremely similar, I could never tell the difference just by that, but looking at him, it is impossible to be mistaken.
Their expression dropped on the spot and I realized that there were more people watching me and maybe they knew the plan, because everyone was a little shocked too, was it that simple?
"That's impossible, who was the snitch that told you? Whoever it was, you're going to have a tough future," Fred even stood up and didn't bother to do another voice, he spoke and I was sure I won.
"Nobody told me, I didn't need much to realize that you guys were faking it. He spent the whole conversation scratching his arm, it's been like that all day," I pointed to George who had not taken his eyes off my person so far.
At that moment they looked at each other for a few seconds and then back at me. I should be happy but I wasn't. Even if I wasn't going to admit it out loud, they just proved to me how amazing they are and I wasn't going to lose that.
"Now that I've won, I want to change my reward. It's very simple, I want to reverse the reward and the punishment. I want an extra dose of Weasleys," I had to get a certain amount of shyness out of the way to say this but it was worth it.
It was worth it because I could see a sparkle in both of their eyes that went beyond a successful prank, it was worth it because I had the best years at Hogwarts with the best friends I could ever want. It was worth it because I found the best boyfriend in the world that day. I never thought I would be so grateful for a silly bet.

lavender And Black - part 4
Tumblr media
summary: Lily makes the reader realizes something right before her birthday
A\N: sorry that this is really late m=but university was killing me and I’m finally on vacation also  I changed the name from half a life to lavender and black so I hope you don’t mind and again I hope you enjoy my bad writing :)
Sirius Black x Reader: because if I’m going to write about anyone it’s definitely Sirius :’)
The highlight of your third year at Hogwarts didn't happen when Hogwarts was open for classes again, it was actually in the summer of your second year. You always heard of your aunt but never got to know her since she died when you turned two, but the universe had a plan for you to discover a piece of her mind. You found her potion making journal where she recorded every single potion she made. You thought that her intention was to publish it, except you discarded that idea completely when you saw the instructions to a potion that you knew too well, your potion. Nobody knew about its existence, and the few that knew about it didn't know how to make it. So you went to Hogwarts with the book as another secret.
or so you thought.
The journal was discovered by your friends two weeks after your third year started. You realized then that keeping a secret from them wasn't an option anymore. Now anyone else in your place would've planned their funeral by now, but if there's anyone you trusted more than your parents it would be your friends. Some people might call you crazy because what's at risk is your life, but you can learn a lot about people in two years, and in two years you realized that your friends won't let you get scratched, let alone seriously injured. As for the journal itself, it was for sure going to be used to get better grades in potion class, you just didn't expect what happened a week later in the middle of the night.
The Marauders found out some information regarding potion class, and of course, you were the first one that they had to tell, and the fact that is was probably past 12 am wasn't going to stop them.
their plan was to take you to their room, but they were stopped by none other than Severus Snape the minute they stepped into the Slytherin common room.
" we just want to talk to y\n," explained Remus. He was the most calm out the marauders, but it was still obvious that he was not fond of Snape.
" If I were you I'd be more concerned about the trouble I'll get into for not being asleep than talking to y\n, " said Snape.
" yeah because you're tucked in bed right now," James replied to him. " hate to be the one with bad news but you're awake too"
" y\n is probably asleep " Snape informed them, his reply to James made it clear that the marauders will definitely not get in trouble anytime soon.
" yeah right, the only time y\n sleeps before 5 am is when you finally wash your hair, " said Sirius " she's pacing or reading a book right now "
before Snape had the chance to defend himself, you appeared with a book in your hand, and Sirius immediately gave Snape an I told you so fake smile.
" Hey, what are you doing here? " you asked your friends and they told everything. You were curious about what had to tell you, so you sneaked into their room, thankfully, you still had your aunt's journal with you because they told you that professor Slughorn was going to display 3 potions, and whoever identifies them gets to have liquid luck, which James wanted. They needed your help to learn how to recognize potions, after all, you were the best at them.
All of you gathered together for breakfast at the great haul the next morning. Out of all the topics you talked about your, birthday after a week was your favorite until Lily mentioned that Sirius will probably give the best gift since you’re basically dating. You didn’t know what it was, but something clicked in your head at that moment, but you continued with the conversation with the idea still in tieback of your head without realizing it.
The next morning at potion class professor Slughorn does exactly as what your friends told you he'd do. Lily was next to you that day, and so with three potions in front of you, you start guessing.
"This is definitely liquid luck," Lilly said pointing at the potion that looks like melted gold, and you agreed.
" Oh, I would recognize this anywhere  ، this is Pepperup Potion for sure," you told Lily, and now you had one potion left. This one you couldn't identify by color and you didn't recognize it immediately, so you decided to smell it.
" It's Amortentia" you blurted out.
“ really what did it smell like? “ Lily asked, but she knew she won’t get an answer after you asked her to repeat what she said again because you didn’t hear her. Even though she definitely knew who it smelled like because you had the exact same look on your face this morning at breakfast, She decided to let you process all the realization because while everyone considered you and Sirius a couple, it was very obvious that you didn't, well until today at least.
Since breakfast, your mind couldn't stop thinking about it.  Even if you liked him, there was no way you were going to tell him especially that you didn't know if he liked you back, and rejection was a thing you were trying to avoid at all costs, but more importantly, you were definitely not going to ruin your friendship, so your decision was to just keep the feeling in there and not talk about it with hope that it goes away, you had no idea if that's even possible, but for your friendship's sake you were willing to try.
Your birthday was finally here weeks later, and you were so excited to spend it with your friends. The day was already started well with a letter and a gift from your parents. You decided to celebrate your birthday with your friends after class in your room. You got your favorite songs on a cd from Lily, a rare edition of your favorite book from Remus, and a sweater from Jame's parents as well as a month of doing my homework from James himself. Everyone was there and gave you gifts except Sirius as he was the only one who still had classes to go to. He appeared right after you opened James's gift with a box in his hand.
" I made it, Finally! " he said out of breath with a box in his hand. You subconsciously smiled and totally forgot the speech you prepared in case he didn't show up at all and didn't have to be a psychic to know that Lily is smirking.
He sat next to you and handed the box you, he was clearly excited, but not as much as you. The box was black with a purple ribbon that you untied and the first thing that you spotted was a small box which you decided to open first, and in it was a necklace with a small glass ball filled with lavender to the half and It'll pass carved on it. Now Sirius thought it was a perfect gift because your anxiety can become really bad sometimes and the only thing that helps you relax is the lavender cream you own which is why every single person says you smell like lavender. The next gift was an invitation to go to all the different places at Hogsmeade signed by my parents.
" How did you get them to sign it? "
" I have my ways, besides they'll be waiting for you there "
You were really missing your parents so knowing that you'll see them and that Sirius was so thoughtful made you cry. You hugged him and whispered a thank you. It was after the hug that he told you there's one more gift left, a huge bottle of wine which you decided to share with all your friends by playing a game, a question is asked by any person in the group,  and everyone drinks after answering the question. The game revealed some interesting information about everyone, like how lily rather die than relive her first date, What's next on Sirius's ways to drive my mother insane list and how Remus actually came up with the idea of marauders last prank.
By the time the question " what's the worst way to die? " was asked by Sirius you were definitely all drunk, and your answers, well let's just say were not what they would be different if the wine wasn't involved. James chose in vane while lily chose too soon and Remus chose in the hands of a beast.
" suddenly" you blurt out. " you're just going with your day normally not expecting anything and then poof, their gone and there's nothing you can do about it"
Everyone was clearly not expecting that kind of answer from you, and you could tell from the silence as well as their faces, but it was true, that's the worst way you could think of, and that after that day it wasn't only the worst way to die to you, but to all your friends as well. After some more celebration, all of your friends went to their room and sleep, still not forgetting that James has a Quidditch game to play tomorrow which is why the Quidditch field is the first place you went to after you all woke up.
James was a really good player, no one could deny that so it wasn't a surprise that he was the one who scored most of the points for Gryffindor, but the moment that got everyone on edge was when James was on his way to score and get that points that will break the tie between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.
Come on, come on” whispered Lily and James scored moments later followed by the Gryffindor's seeker catching the snitch.
“ Yes, he did it y/n! “
And everyone including you started to cheer while filled with happiness. Maybe it was because you had this look on your face before, or because it was the first time you saw Lily happy and excited like this, but that day staring at Lily, you were sure that Quidditch was not the only thing that James won that night.
What you were oblivious to is that after the game Dumbledore and McGonigal had a very important conversation.
" Do you think we should suggest that she uses a memory charm on her friends? " asked McGonigal. " The news is from a very trustworthy person. If it's true, I'm certain he will go after her if he discovers what she's capable of"
" She made her choice regarding that already Minerva, let us confirm that the news is true first then we'll know what to do"
