SO GLAD YOU ASKED !!!! I need to rant about this to clear things up bc I think about how Charpim would work so much and it makes me go insane bc their dynamic is fucking incredible.

Ill take this as an opportunity to do a little character study and explain why i think they would inherently be toxic at their very core 👹👹 and how I think their relationship would even function.

First off, a HUGE roadblock is the fact that they have completely different ideals. They want totally different things in life and go about life almost in completely opposite ways.

Pim's been shown in canon multiple times to want a normal, healthy, nuclear family. He wants a wife and kids and wants to raise them well and be the father figure for them that he himself never had. It's apparent that he wants to settle down, and just hasn't found anyone willing to. When he even talks to Shrimpina, he can't help puking and making a fool of himself and tossing and turning at night over it. This makes it clear that while i do NOT AT ALL think he's a virgin, Pim doesn't have a lot of experience with this kind of stuff. It's probably all been pretty awkward and never lasted very long.

I don't think that him or Charlie have any problems with being gay, but I do think that Pim settling down with a guy does inherently shatter his ideals. ESPECIALLY with the way Charlie acts. Being with Charlie wouldn't be a picture perfect movie couple, and I think that would really frustrate and disappoint Pim when Charlie doesn't act like he's "supposed" to. He wouldn't really be a BOYFRIEND to him. Pim is just a lot more romantic and holds a lot more hope in the idea of love than Charlie does. He's an optimist and Charlie is VERYRYYY much a pessimist.

The way that Charlie goes about relationships is MUCH more laid back and casual. His girlfriend (who IS CONFIRMED to be his girlfriend by Zach himself in the commentary videos, you can find it pretty easy on YouTube) is hardly ever mentioned and doesn't seem to hold much weight to him at all. To me, that whole thing with her being there kind of confirmed that Charlie casually hooks up with people/dates a lot, and doesn't really take it all that seriously. He doesn't have any intentions of settling down or moving in with anyone. Even in the ep where the fucken mustard chick was flirting with him, Charlie didn't seem to give two shits or even get a little flustered. He'd USED to that kind of stuff, where Pim isn't.

It's been a joke multiple times that even for a critter, Pim is perceived as pretty unattractive and weird looking 😭😭 and that's the biggest difference between them I think. Charlie is single BY CHOICE, while Pim is single because he can't get anyone who wants to long term date him.

If Charlie and Pim ever slept together or did anything, I think it would hold a lot more weight for Pim than it would for Charlie. Charlie is a fucking asshole! He doesn't show affection well, he's pretty inconsiderate of other people, he's very slobby and hardly takes care of himself. He wouldn't want to DATE pim the way that Pim would want to date Charlie. Pim would want to do all that mushy stuff that he's seen in movies that he's never been able to try, like holding hands and cuddling and going out to cute dinners.

CHARLIE WOULDN'T WANNA DO THAT! He's VERY CLEARLY SHOWN in canon to not be that kinda guy. He can hardly even think about himself, he doesn't have the time or want to expend the energy thinking about someone else on a daily basis. Just look at the fucking difference in their rooms--

They work at the same job at the same position, they should be making the same amount of money. And from the Brazil episode where they talk about funds, it doesn't seem like its a super lot. But Pim spent more time and money making his room look nice and his sheets and pillows match, somewhere with a nicer view and cute painted walls. Charlie just bought the cheapest, ugliest little shithole he could find.

You can fucking bet that they would not be good living together, that is if Charlie even wanted to live with him. You can literally see in the back that his sink is full of dirty dishes bro. He probably uses paper plates and plastic cups for everything so he doesn't have to do the dishes, you can bet he's always ordering nasty ass takeout food.

Also sorry, but like please open your eyes and look at the way Charlie treats Pim in the show. Obviously he cares about him and holds him as a dear friend, but he just is kinda a shitty person and doesn't do it very well a lot of the time. He's constantly fucking negative and rude, and it clearly takes a mental toll on Pim. Pim's always the one trying really hard to invite Charlie out to things, like in the alien episode. Pim just wants to hang out and tried to find something Charlie might like, and Charlie was grumpy and dismissive and tried to leave multiple times.

In the most RECENT EPISODE, he got in a physical fight with Alan and was being a dick about physical contact that he basically initiated. In the alien episode, Charlie was screaming at the aliens and ignored pim, ended up clocking him in the fucking face and didn't say a single word about it because HE WASN'T SORRY, HE DIDN'T FUCKING CARE.

they're both incredibly flawed people in completely opposite ways, and they'd both want entirely different things out of the other one. They'd both be trying to change each other, the way they literally already do in the show.

i love charpim more than anything with my entire soul, and im not trying to be a doomer about it, im just so sick of people potraying them like

Charlie: I... I like you... is that okay?

Pim: yes.... would it be okay if I kissed you?

LIKE GIRL WHAT ARE YOU SAYINGGGG THEY ARE GROWN ASS, DIRTY, GROSS MEN WITH DICK AND BALLS.

There was a whole episode where pim literally turned into a fucking crazy ass creature because he was so incredibly jealous of Charlie getting what PIM had wanted. Pim wanted to be a hero and help people and save the day and live out his little idealized world, and when CHARLIE got that and he didn't, it pissed him the fuck off. He wasn't happy for Charlie, Pim WANTED what Charlie had.

LIKE OH MY GOD, THEY'RE JUST SO DISFUNCTIONAL!!!

Their relationship would be fucking crazy and rocky and TOXIC, and that's like the whole appeal of it imo. that's literally how they act in canon. I think that the two of them could eventually work things out to be pretty happy, but it would NOT be without its hardships and it definitely would still never be anything even close to textbook.

tips on how to draw raph? :3

I’m a raph lover but he is so hard to draw 😔

hey an!! listen i get u completely, this big spikey boy can be a real challenge

my main advice would probably be to recognise raph’s structure? his shapes and how he’s formed, etc. and the best way for that imo are references! i have a tag for this actually

and here’s some raph refs!

if u wanna know how to draw the entirety of the best boy this post wouldn’t do it justice so here’s some main things:

if you’re trying to replicate the show’s style keep in mind how angular everything is. raph's main shape is a square because of how bulky and rigid he is (helps to encourage his character's role too! love that they made him such a fucken tank)

raph’s head shape is basically if you widened leo’s head- they’re both pointed too

one main thing i do for any head really is keep in mind the eye placement and the cheeks

if u happen to draw faces with the fabled circle and two lines- i use the horizontal line to mark where the bottom of the eyes are- and where the start of the cheek begins (i’m doing my best not to make this into a ‘now draw the rest of the owl’ moment)

if that makes any sense. heres a really shoddy 'tutorial'

i kinda just blank out on my canvas and raph appears out of sheer will

but also just like.

figure out how you like raph's head to look (maybe u want his snout longer, or his jaw shorter, etc etc)

figure out where his brow ridges are located and how they're moving (is he grumpy? is he angry??)

make a mask for his eyes to go in (jebus take the wheel)

pronounce snout (it protrudes, which makes it easy to figure out his facial planes)

do whatever feels right for his mouth- im not exactly rigid with how i draw as of rn, i just do what feels right

ive drawn raph with a more pronounced snout too, and oscillate between designs if i feel like it (truthfully i also sometimes begin his head shape with a square (i mean if im doing a different style), feel free to do that if it helps i dunno-)

if you want to draw his shell and plastron here’s what i do:

being able to carve out 3D shapes will help a lot with the border of his shell

by blocking out the main shape and then carving away at it you can then see how raph’s shell is structured (just. try decipher my sketch if u can pfghjhj)

for the actual shell itself it’s a lot like mikey and leo’s where it has a big curve and then dips at his midsection (where his belt goes!) also keep in mind the spikes of his shell follow those same curves (ft. dr belle)

with his plastron (chest plate) i basically make sure it’s the same length of his clavicle? the jagged edges of it i mean. it helps a lot to map out where his shoulders meet his arms

(pls keep in mind my art’s inconsistent and i don’t even follow my advice- the hole in his shell changes every time i draw it 💀)

his body shape is also just in general wider and stockier- if i ever see people draw him skinnier than he is you'd be able to hear my soul exiting my body

all of him is wider in general! hes bigger than the rest of his brothers so dont forget to show it instead of just giving him a height difference. he BEEG.

i’m not sure how else to describe the process of drawing him other than just. draw him?? 😅 my best advice would be to draw him repeatedly based on references- and study your favourite raph artists’ way of drawing him (mine would be jacocoon and itz_jazzy_jazzin)

and it helps to study bc it can answer these questions

how do you want to draw him? do you like the way a specific artist stylises his features? do you want him more spikey? more sharp? maybe you want to draw him bigger! (i myself like to give him a tail, extra markings on his spikes + a few scars post movie and his mismatched eyes)

repetition is super important to get it all engrained in your brain- and it’s why i don’t really even use refs for him anymore fldjs

dont forget a very important rule: appreciate the big boy in all his glory

When I saw the first guardians film in middle school, my love of our favorite raccoon began. Finding a community of Rocket lovers after keeping it silently inside for so long is special (in a way I can't articulate without sounding goofy bc it's an anthropomorphic raccoon we're talking about here). I graduate from college this weekend and want to thank you for your stories getting me through hard times and motivationless days. It's given me a knew way to enjoy the movies I've watched so many times :) What was the media that got you super into Rocket and inspired your fiction writing? Much love!!

first and foremost, i want to congratulate you. school is not easy, and i swear it gets harder and feels more high-pressure/high-stakes every year. i hope that your time at college has given you more learning experiences than all-nighters, more opportunities than stressors, and more joy than hardship. and i hope that you are able to take everything you’ve earned and enjoy your freedom from university surrounded by good people, with plenty of time and resources to do the things you love. if you haven’t yet, please take time to sit and breathe and really soak up the fact that you did this. be proud of yourself. you fucken deserve it.

secondly, i read this while walking to the parking garage at 11pm after helping at an event for my college students (i work at a university) and i had to sit in my car and wait till i stopped tearing up so i could drive home. this truly made me so happy and im so glad my silly stories made things even just a little easier for you. ♡

so, my falling in love with rocket was a process. (cue me narrating this for three paragraphs like a schoolgirl with her first crush)

when we first saw rocket’s back in gotg1 i was like, oh. he’s in so much pain. between that + his fucken sarcasm, i complained afterward that the movie would’ve been so much better if he was the main character (lol). i started lazily dabbling in comics content then. i hadn’t been big into marvel comics before (more of a dc/image comics kid) but rocket and groot were becoming my faves. i loved gotg2. so much more focus on rocket, and yondu’s arc had me bawling like a baby. gotg2 made me like gotg1 more, which is part of how i judge the quality of a narrative series tbh (and why i think series are so hard to make). when the first gotg3 trailer came out and it was clear this was rocket’s story, i was obsessed. i didnt watch any additional trailers or read any more comics — rare for me. i wanted to go in completely blank. then i went back to the theatre to rewatch it three additional times (i have never before gone to see a movie more than once in the theatre). i was like… almost bursting with love for this stupid raccoon at this point.

then i got around to reading his grounded comic arc, and it was like — the dam burst. i hadn’t written fanfiction since 2017ish, and hadn’t been on tumblr since 2016, but i was like — i have to write about this fucken raccoon. i need to take care of him lol.

so when you ask what media - i guess all of it? in increments? because of course now ive watched most of his various cartoon incarnations, read probably 70% of the comics content, halfway through a stream of the 2021 game, have one of the novels (sitting on the tbr pile) and frankly the love just continues to grow.

now that ive taken up thirty-two years of your life, i just want to say im so glad you found this fandom and this community. he may be an anthropomorphic raccoon but he’s meaningful to people, in so many ways. im so very very glad that he could be that for you, and that you’re here.

red shoes and the seven fucking dwarfs - that movie about body positivity and the pressure of being perceived as ugly in a society that values appearance over everything else and the double standards that come with that, whose marketing royally fucking sucked and made everyone think this movie hated fat ppl???? when the main character is this girl

and she loves herself and is confident and knows that people are most likely to help her when she puts on those red shoes that make her skinny. and the movie pokes fun at all those makeover / sexy protagonist moments in romcoms and shit with genuinely funny recurring gags. like its not a revolutionary movie, but its a pretty good movie with very nice rep and i just KNOW that if it came out during the time ppl were making edits of merida, jack frost, hiccup and rapunzel, they would've ADDED the twink ass love interest guy because LOOK AT HIM?

something you need to know about me is a like longer series' because you have more time to get attached to characters. I DONT like stand alone, one shot movies as such. I don't really watch movie bc of this reason. it's 1h30m usually, and them that's it. series like shrek are cool, bc they expand on the universe, esp with Puss in Boots. other series do the same, like despicable me. i like that.

but that's besides the point. what I'm trying to talk about is in movies, characters are usually forgettable bc they either die within those 90 minutes, or they have generic names like rachel.

ever since I was fucking 12, I was dedicated to the unique name bullshit I'm on years later. I had a character named fucken Pontimia. tell me how you think that's pronounced. (Pon-time-ia). and the way I make names is literally saying sounds until something meshes together well and it sounds like a name. or I take inspo from other characters (Miton's name was originally meant to be pronounced "Mai-ton" but I always say "Me-ton". it was meant to be a half combo of Maito Gai's name and Mito.)

that said 12 year old me made my first oc and her name was Sparky, but it was definitely not a common name or anything. also even 12 year old me KNEW Sparky wasn't cis. they're a demigirl.

Ok lmao I literally watched emesis blue with my mom last night here’s what I did, I originally was just gonna say it in tags but I got a lot to say apparently bc I love to yap

Also I know this post is hours old so I might be late but I still wanna share ✌️

MOVIE SPOILERS AHEAD, THEY WILL BE MARKED

Watching the movie doesn’t require in depth knowledge of the source thankfully but some surface knowledge would enhance the experience such as “two ugly old brothers have 2 teams of mercenaries fighting each other in a worthless war in New Mexico in the 1960s, also when they die they come back to life and it’s called respawning in game terms” this all depends on if you’ve already told your dad abt tf2 or not I uhh… had infodumped for 4 hours prior to watching the movie with my mom lmao

Key info that I think should be mentioned: that RED and BLU are acronyms and they will be mentioned in the movie as well (mainly Builders League) - Also that RED and BLU look identical and it’s on purpose, this might be confusing to a bystander - Also explain what the medigun is and the concept of rocket jumping since both are mentioned or at least implied and someone that doesn’t know might not understand shit (mainly the medigun, I feel most people can figure out the rocket jumping part from context alone but the medigun “looks like the ghostbusters thing” according to my 53 year old mother)

I advice mentioning beforehand that the movie is psychological horror and very violent just in case, if your dad is not one for confusing and time bending plots you might have a lot of explaining to do and it’s fine if you say you don’t get it bc truly it’s like that on purpose

This is just a general note that I think is immensely useful and everyone should know: Emesis Blue comes with subtitles in a lot of languages, I watched it with Spanish ones for my mom and they were very well made idk abt the others but I assume they are too. If you don’t need them in another language English is still there as well (and they are very helpful for parts where audio might be hard to understand such as the phone calls)

You might sound annoying but specifying that paying attention to the movie is important is a good thing bc truly I had to go back a few seconds sometimes because my mom missed something and she immediately got confused because missing the plot is THAT easy with this movie

Cool pieces of trivia to mention during the movie or after:

(EMESIS BLUE SPOILERS AND “M” SPOILERS) The tapes Medic has are mostly old real German movies, the movie scout picks up titled “M” is a movie about a child serial killer and the symbolism of the “M” will be prevalent throughout the movie and parallel Medic’s journey as well in fact, the scene at scouts house when he’s watching said move he receives the phone call right when the murderer finds his fist victim and if I remember correctly later on the tv shows the scene where the murderer has been caught and it also directly parallels the scene in emesis blue. ALSO the fact medic gets literally an “M” branded on his face at one point which happens in the German movie to the killer (he gets marked with an M on his back so that they could find him later). Btw the movie “M” is free on YouTube with English subtitles, all of it and contains no gore (it’s a good watch)

The movie is fan made with a free software released by Valve that’s now pretty fucken old, I think emphasizing this can bring into view how cool this is from both an artistic and technical view (while I think that the SFM models are different from the in game models they were still made years ago)

(SPOILER) The burned pyro face we see momentarily in the movie is an actual game asset from another one of valve’s games (I believe half life?) which depicts a burn victim except it’s an ACTUAL REAL burn victim and the texture used came from a real medical book (I loved telling this to my mom bc I saw the disgust in her face lmao)

You can for a fraction of a second see the 2fort cow when Medic is running away from the masked Heavy for the first time, I believe just saying that the cardboard cow is a running gag is enough explanation and it makes it funny (my mom thought it was a real cow and saw no issue with it being there bc it was a “slaughterhouse” after all)

You could mention that the Conagher Slaughterhouse is an actual in game map although edited

(SEMI SPOILER) The engineer(s) have no eyes because their models simply were not made with the idea to take off the goggles ever, this is being used for added horror factor

(SPOILERS) The movie has lots of references to other movies and pieces of media but I genuinely don’t remember the names right now, most specific thing I remember is soldier’s attempt to cross a broken bridge but falling being a possible parallel to a story of a man trying to escape hell and go to heaven but directly falling into the deepest layers of hell instead (I’d really appreciate if someone remembers the actual references and could list them, if not I might go look them up again and reblog again with the list) (EVEN BIGGER SPOILERS) also the fact we never truly find out the contents of the briefcase is a reference to another famous movie with almost the same plot line

That’s all for trivia I can remember rn, I asked my mom what she’d like to say/recommend about the movie for another parent to watch and here’s what she had to say:

Talk about it like you would any movie, explain the overall plot or a bit of it to catch attention and raise interest

It’s a really good movie that makes you think a lot and has an interesting plot that holds well even if you’re not into the source it comes from

Do not mention the fact that it’s gonna leave you with more questions than answers

Besides this she agreed with what I said before so 👍
