Dawn Raid

middle grade historical about a 13yo Samoan girl living in Porirua in 1976, as she learns about the hīkoi (Māori land march) the year before, the dawn raids happening mostly further north, and about civil rights around the world

as well as normal kid stuff like doing the milk run to save up and buy some cool shoes, and dealing with her chaotic younger brothers

she gets more passionate about learning & speaking up about these things, especially when her own family is dawn raided when they’re visiting relatives in Auckland, and her brother is arrested while protesting with the Polynesian Panthers

have you ever considered suri x adam x nate x dinah? or would that not work?

Hello, my friend!! Oh, you know, I haven’t considered that yet 👀 but I am definitely going to consider that now!

In terms of romance, I think Suri and Adam would work. Especially in the context of a polycule with Adam. Would work well!

As for Dinah, I always say she likes Nate more than she likes Mason (who she romances), so to pair her with Nate I think would work well. As for Adam … hm!! I haven’t thought of them in that context yet … but the gears are working. I’ll have to go back and see what her friendship stat is with him so set the foundation

As for Suri and Dinah?? I think they’d get along, I think they’re a bit opposite of each other but in a way that would work. Suri is more optimistic, more impulsive, more chaotic and outwardly passionate - Dinah is more pessimistic, less impulsive, and she’s very sarcastic. Nate rounds her out, and I think her energy with Suri’s could be molded and melded into something special!

I think that was my favorite season finale yet?? That felt like watching Across The Spiderverse. The build up, the foreshadowing, guys!!! Our heroes are going to be written in the stars!!!!!!

A box has appeared in Fearghas’ mail! The address seems to suggest it came from Unova, but from where it doesn’t say.

A note attached to the box reveals who sent it.

“Dear Fearghas, I apologize if this package arrives to you late, however I felt I should send you a gift for your birthday.”

“I hope you enjoy your gifts.” - 186, Calvin

Inside the box was a neatly wrapped book titled “A Birder’s Guide to Flying Type Pokémon.” The book claimed to be critically acclaimed and was in perfect condition, seeming to be brand new.

Additionally, the box contained a small illustration of Corviknight, drawn on the page of an art journal. It seemed that the drawing was made by Calvin as it was signed right below the bird’s foot.

Lastly, inside was a Flying Gem, a stone that could often be found in Unova’s many caves and gave a temporary boost to flying attacks used by the holder.

Fearghas picked up the box, and from a quick glance of it from the address that it was from Unova. Due to that he was interested in seeing what was inside the package. “Maybe this is from Calvin,” Fearghas thought to himself as he carried the box inside his flat. 

Once he was inside of his room he placed the box on his desk and read the note that was on it. As he read the note, Fearghas smiled. “I was right, it is from Calvin! Let’s see what he got for me.”

He opened the box and took out one of the items that was inside. “Whoa, A Birder’s Guide to Flying Type Pokémon! I cannae believe this…I wanted this for tae longest time, but every time I tried to order this tae site said it was sold out or out of stock! And it’s new as well, this is pure quality! I start reading this after I take all tae other things out.”

After placing the book on the desk, he took out the illustration of Corviknight that Calvin drew. 

“That’s pure barry, Calvin is a well good artist,” Fearghas exclaimed. “I will be putting this on my wall.” Using some tape, Fearghas gently taped the illustration on his wall. After doing that, he took out the final item that was inside the box. “Damn, this is also pure quality! A Flying Gem! I need tae get one of those special display boxes for this eventually, but for now I will place it on my shelf. Calvin is such a kind lad, he’s just pure belter! What a great lad tae have as a friend.”
