      THEORY TIME !   alright so grab your mug ,   ‘cause you’re about to read some fine ass rambling .

   if you know me at all you know i like to mix the lore of different movies / series into my portrayal ,   or at least create a link between them if it makes sense .    so i was analyzing   a nightmare on elm street   &    insidious ,   both movies seem to share some kind of similarity in their plot although they’re completely different story-lines .   it all started off with   this scene :

  if you have watched this movie ,   you know this fancy guy right there is a nasty ass demon .   he lives in another dimension which later in the movie elise (  the medium  )   says she likes to call it  “the further “ .   i’m betting it wasn’t a coincidence at all that he resembles freddy krueger with the claws and what seems to be a hat  (  it’s not .  his head is just weird but thats besides the Point )   .   so that got me thinking ...   wait  -   didn’t freddy made a deal with demons to become a dream entity that kills people ?  ( in freddy’s dead :  the final nightmare that’s what he claims anyways )   and if that’s true ,   could it be possible it was one of these guys ?    listen .  looking back ,  insidious is a movie about a little boy who ,   once he   falls asleep ,  can travel to another dimension ,   one with ghosts and demons ,   but it’s assumed  (  because elise says his ‘lack of fear’ has caused him to travel ‘too far’  )  that there are many levels in this place ,  and some are quite harmless  (   maybe REM SLEEP makes you travel to a harmless one ?  ) ,   which would make since since according to a nightmare on elm street  (  the first movie  )  at the sleep clinic the doctor says  ‘nobody really knows what dreams are’ .    so maybe that’s it .   maybe dreams are you traveling to another place .   but maybe people with  astral protection ,   because they are lucid ,  can go too far ,   it’s possible they can even get close to hell ,   and that’s why there’s demons around . 

   now ,  back to the demon guy .   in the movie elise tells that the ghosts want to possess their son because they crave life ,   meanwhile demons want to possess him to cause even more harm .   why is this relevant ?   I’LL TELL YOU WHY !  a nightmare on elm street : freddy’s revenge .   y’all remember that freddy freakin tried to possess jesse  &  almost succeeded because he wanted to cause harm / kill again ?   so apparently freddy   can   possess your body if you’re weak enough to be under his influence ,   but you need to carry his ass out of the dream world .  sounds similar ??   damn straight .   

the demon in insidious also manages to possess dalton in insidious because he’s stuck in a state of   COMA  aka unconscious aka  sleeping !!    it seems both these entities can get a hold of you when you’re asleep ,   and both of them have enough power to keep you that way ,  keep your soul trapped in another place .    normal demons possess people ,  that isn’t uncommon on tv ,   but what’s interesting is that both freddy and red face demon need you asleep to do their thing .   now ,   freddy got so far as   crossing over  ( the pool scene )   and this also happened in insidious : chapter 2  when josh gets possessed by the old woman ,  lady in black ,  what have you ,  because she entered his body since he stopped to talk to her  (  don’t talk to demons ,  kids . )      and yeah ,  freddy’s demon ass is probably sippin’ some tea w red face over there ,   chit chatting about the weather and all the   SOULS  they steal . 

   you’re welcome for that image by the way .    but i digress  -   the souls ,   well that’s pretty obvious .   in astral projection ,   you leave your physical body on earth ,   and lets your soul travel across dimensions ,   so when they trap you into this “dream world”  you’re basically ... their bitch .  you need to get back to your body to wake up ,  this was shown many times in insidious ,   and in a nightmare on elm street nancy also uses this trick when she goes to see her friend in jail after falling asleep ,  and when she’s chased by freddy rushes back to her room ,   climbs the window ,  and once she hops under the sheets she comes back .  so there’s some correlation here .   the problem is that in both movies ,    this dimension is immense ( possibly endless ? ) ,  and it keeps changing ,  so it’s incredibly difficult to find your way back .  both movies also show that whatever entities are against you ( if once human )  have rooms there with their memories .   so is it too far fetched thinking dream world  &  the further are one and the same ?   i don’t think so . i mean 

  kind of similar ,  don’tcha think ?   but hold on ,  i’m not done yet ! not only is it similar ,   but we’ve also seen that within this alternate reality ,  it seems   you can  fight back ,  manifest powers within dreams ,   once you are self-aware and no longer paralyzed by fear .   this is shown through a nightmare on elm street :  dream warriors and insidious : chapter 3 .   in anoes ,   once the teens realize they must fight against this entity to stay alive ,   they start to take back control of their dreams and become stronger ,  each in their own way ( one becomes wizard , another one becomes a super-powered goth i guess , idk )  and  in chapter three ,   both elise ,  upon facing her fears ,  shows som pretty badass supernatural powers if you can call it that . which makes all the sense in the world taking into consideration the lore  -  you’re a soul .   your body is unconscious somewhere ,   this world has no use for physical strength ,  because you’re not in a physical state ,  what you need to demonstrate is spiritual strength .

  so in a way ,   in both movies you see the same pattern - overcoming your fears gives you leverage over these entities ,  gives you power in this world .  also the creepy “man who can’t breathe” from chpter 3 ? elise says he’s a parasite who feeds off your fear .... rings a bell doesn’t it ?    direct quote from the movie

    “ this entity is very powerful . it’s a spirit who used to live in this building a long time ago. it's been alone for a long time. but she's making it stronger. it's feeding on her life force.”    “ usually, entities of this type, living in the dark, they want to possess the bodies of the living so that they can leave the dark and return to life. but there's another kind of a spirit. it's an even worse kind. one that does not wanna leave the dark, that wants the souls of the living to join it in the shadows."  um ... hello ?

      guys ........ they totally pals man .  

    but in all seriousness ,   isn’t it creepy that these entities have their own private little “home” in this dimension where they can keep others and just chill out waiting for more victims ?    home sweet home .   but let’s not forget ,   another thing these franchises share in common is that a person ,   is that they can literally   bring   stuff out of their dreams ,   be that a person or something less pleasant ,   or even just an object .   like how nancy went to rescue joey after freddy held him in a coma (  dream warriors )  ,   or how dalton hides and falls asleep to go find his father and bring him back to his body ( chapter 2 ) .

     so anyways ,   that’s my theory  -  dream world  &  the further   could possibly be one and the same .   which is also why i incorporated the headcanon that katherine is a  lucid dreamer / astral projector  into my bio ... i could be doing replies but i’m rambling instead ,  sue me .
