He didn't want to be doing this. If only Dumbledore had listened to him when he expressed his regards about taking Lupin on as the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, instead giving Severus the role himself, then they wouldn't have to be going through this. Severus wouldn't have to add another worry to his list about remembering to gather all the ingredients and brew the Wolfsbane potion at the correct times so there wouldn't be an incident.

But no. Even when Severus had gone to the headmaster, telling him his suspicions that Lupin might be helping Sirius Black enter the castle, it was once again ignored. So here he was, showing up to Lupin's office, holding the Wolfsbane potion in hand, following orders.

The Potions Master placed it on the desk, eyes carefully watching him. ❝ Here. Now, it is of the upmost importance you remember to take this each day for a week preceding the full moon. Missing one dose alone is enough to cause it to not work correctly. Is that clear? ❞
