with the release of Beetlejuice 2 and interviews coming out between the actors in regards to BJ and Lydia, i got a couple of headcanons and establishing of AUs for these two since i like writing all variations of the two.

real quick disclaimer: i am in no way supporting Beetlebabes; i'm referring to the original romantic ship that people have between Beetlejuice and Lydia from the first movie. the chemistry between the two (and the reasons behind the whole marriage setup) doesn't scream romance; i dont even think Beetlejuice had romantic intentions, he wanted a method to get out of the Netherworld for good. however, with the movie canon having some additions, and with Lydia's actress even saying she's hoping they get together in the end, i got a couple of ideas with this.

their relationship is not sexual in the slightest, nor is it Beetlejuice's attempts to be weird in a creep kind of way. though he is just ... weird (the guy's been dead for hundreds of years and came from the literal Black Plague era). he's always been a weird dead guy that's got a way with talking to people and loves bursting social bubbles; he likes poking people and messing with them for kicks. he's NOT a serious guy. however, he's got HIGH respect for Lydia compared to other people. my interpretation of Winona Ryder's response to their relationship is that they've always been a power duo; they're a pair that i think are destined to be together, but NOT in a romantic sense. their bond is like that, and you can't really have one without the other. that and i don't exactly see them being romantic with their dynamic together. they're just a duo that works well together.

with that aside, i am SO down to write all variations of Beetlejuice - movie, cartoon, and musical. i like tying them all together in their unique kind of way. i like writing the friendship vibe from the cartoon for him and Lydia AND the movie canon too.

the same goes for Lydia - i am willing to write her teen canon OR her adult canon (involving her talk show, being a local Medium and talking to spirits, etc. etc.). i like both verses and ill probably make tags for establishing those canon verses (but do know i don't do the beetlebabes ship stuff for her teen verses by any means).

tl;dr i like all concepts and ideas for these two, hit me with stuff aside from the disclaimers i gotta set up.
