They used the implication that Jared and Jensen aren’t friends anymore at least 6 times in The French Mistake. The first time I watched it, I thought they were playing on the whole spoiled, douche actor stereotype and that it was leading to some punchline about Jensen having a bigger trailer or Jared getting top billing. But that never happened- instead they just repeated it over and over. In fact, it’s the last line of the episode. I could never understand the purpose because everyone knows that Jensen and Jared are extremely close in real life. 

When I rewatched it a couple of weeks ago, I finally got it. The title of the episode comes from the scene in the movie Blazing Saddles where the cowboy movie literally breaks through the fourth wall and into the set of a musical called The French Mistake. In an interview, Mel Brooks explained that a “French mistake” is when two supposedly heterosexual men have sex in the heat of the moment and then regret it afterwards. 

Get it? It’s a big J2 joke. In that parallel universe, Jensen and Jared did something they regret and now they don’t talk.

So not only is Supernatural the first show that included their characters’ shippers (with the Wincest mention in The Monster at the End of this Book and then by creating Becky and later by including lots of ships in the Fan Fiction episode), but it’s the first show that I know of that gave a wink to people who ship its actors. God bless this show.

most erotic spn scene was when sam was tied down to a chair, bloody and beaten, and cas is taking off his belt and putting it between sam’s teeth. sam is sending pleading looks towards dean. cas gives dean a look as if to ask for permission to touch sam. dean nods. and cas soul fists sam. insane writing and acting choices.

yes, sam loves dean. loves him more than anyone and anything in the world. and yes dean loves sam more than anyone and anything in the world. BUT often times sam is trapped by deans love towards him. codependency traps them both, the difference is that sam tries to break free of it whereas dean often times purposefully perpetuates their codependency. they both love each other, but the way that love shows up in the narrative often leaves sam as a victim and dean as the abuser

It starts when they get older.

They do it every year. A little tradition.

Dean says "Happy Birthday."

Sam replies "Happy Anniversary." blows out his candles, receives a birthday kiss. After that? Sometimes they even make it to the bedroom.

The first time Sam had said it caught Dean off guard. They didn't have an anniversary. What would it even be? Their first kiss, first time having sex, the first time one of them had said "I love you" and meant it in a different way then they'd been saying it their whole lives?

What was an anniversary when you never officially started, you just, became?

A half smile, quizzical, confused. "What?"

"Oh Dean." Sam smiles, soft and warm. If love bloomed color he'd be pink and sherbert with it. He kisses Dean on the mouth and its years of longing and want, desire and satisfaction, devotion past lifetimes, distilled into a tender kiss. Familiar, but exciting. Shockwaves to their toes. Perfected by dozens, and hundreds of times "I've been yours since the day I was born."

Oh.

We were absolutely robbed of an episode in all of the 15 years where they were simply domestic for 1 day. I’m not talking about clips of them being domestic, I’m talking a whole episode of them just being together. No angels, no demons, no fighting for their lives, no apocalypse, no God, no Lucifer, not even 1 case. Just domestic-chesters for literally 1 day. Taking care of eachother, cooking for one another, watching a movie together, subtle wincest moments, petty funny arguments. Just one whole episode of just that. It would heal a deep wound in my soul after witnessing said domesticity between them before Dean fucking dies in the finale.
