hi leah!! how do you recommend getting into game of thrones? like i know there are books but idk if i should read them before watching the show or what (this is super random but i figured why not ask)

So the thing about live adaptations is you have to remember that they are exactly that, they are just adaptations. I will always recommend people to read the books rather than watch the show because it's the source material and the books are always better. I won't lie the show really is great in terms of the set the design the score the directing the costumes (for the most part) etc and it's easy! pressing play is literally so easy. but if you really do enjoy fantasy and the intricate details of lore I would definitely recommend you read the books. The show... is basically 2 dudes fanfiction version of the books. Even before they ran out of source material to adapt they were changing things that did have an impact on the overall story.

And the same thing could be said about Fire and blood/house of the dragon - it's just an adaptation.

The books - The characters are more developed, the story is more developed, the world is more developled I can't express it enough just how much better the books are in terms of literally everything (except the music... ramin djawadi I will love you forever) but I mean you can't really go wrong with getting it from the source itself. Not to mention any character you're a fan of at the end of GoT is either killed/removed/ignored or completely and utterly unrecognizable from not only their book counterparts but who their characters were literally episodes prior but if I start talking about that I will literally never stop so-

As a book extremist I say read the books if you can and if none of what I mentioned above bothers you and you're going to watch the show/s anyway then by all means go ahead and don't let anyone make you feel weird about it. I'm just a girl who will push the book over the show agenda every chance I get LOL.
