20 Doctors And Nurses Share The Creepiest Last Words Uttered By A Patient Before Dying
1.
I work in a cardiac ICU. We had a patient who had a pulmonary artery rupture (a rare, but known complication of a Swan-Ganz catheter). One minute he was joking around with us and the next bright red blood was spewing out of his mouth. His last words before he died were “why is this happening to me?”
It still haunts me years later.
2.
I’m an RT and had a vented trach patient in angio have the same thing happen. Vent waveforms got a little funky showing she needed suctioned. I walked up to her and saw bright red blood just start shooting up the vent circuit and immediately obstruct it.
I immediately said “she’s hemorrhaging” and the vascular surgeon said “no it’s just a little blood” thinking I was referring to his access site in her groin.
I popped her off of the vent and blood just started pouring out of her trach, mouth, and nose. She looked at me and said, “just let me die.”
The puddle of blood was about 6 feet in diameter on the floor within just a couple of minutes and I was covered from the chest down.
I’ve seen some shit, but that was the worst,
3.
“But I don’t know how to get there…” Grandpa in hospice. Hadn’t spoken in days. Died about 2 hours later.
4.
I’m a nurse and was previously working at an assisted living community on the dementia/Alzheimer’s unit. My very favorite patient had been declining pretty steadily so I was checking on him very frequently. We would have long chats and joke around with each other, but in the last two weeks of his life, he stopped talking completely and didn’t really acknowledge conversation directed at him at all.
I finished my medication rounds for the evening and went to see him before I left. I told him I was leaving for the night and that I’d see him the following day, and he looked me in the eyes and smiled SO genuinely and said, “You look like an angel.” I thought it was so sweet because he had not seemed lucid in weeks.
He died the next morning. It really messed with me.
5.
I overheard an old lady whisper this to her old husband dying of kidney problems.
“You are going to beat this, you got away with murder, this is nothing”
6.
Nurse here – had a patient come into the ER with shortness of breath. He started deteriorating in the ER, and then quite rapidly on the transport up the ICU. We got him wheeled into his room, replaced the ER lines and tubes with our own, and transferred him from the transport stretcher to his ICU bed.
He actually did most of the transfer himself. He didn’t say anything, but just before he died he pleasantly adjusted his own pillow, laid his head down, and then his eyes went blank. This man just made himself comfortable before laying down to die.
7.
Dad had MS. He’d had it since he was 18. Diagnosed at 20, married my mom at 24, had me at 29, died 15 days short of 45. Six months before that, he was put on hospice. He and Mom were discussing funeral arrangements, and my mom jokingly said, “You know Tim, the best thing you could do would be to die on a Wednesday. That way we can have the body prepared on Thursday, the viewing on Friday, and the memorial on Saturday, so more people could come.
The morning we got the call that it was time, my mom, two sisters, and I were about five minutes too late. After we said our goodbyes, the nurse pulled my mom aside and asked if that day had any significance. It’s not even 6 am yet, so Mom doesn’t even know what day it IS much less if it’s important. The nurse tells her it’s May 21st. No… nothing is coming to mind.
The nurse told her that the previous day he kept asking what day it was and they’d tell him it was the 20th. He’d look irritated but accept it. That morning, he asked what day it was, and they said, “It’s Wednesday, May 21st.” He smiled, squeezed his favorite nurse’s hand, and was gone almost immediately.
It was Memorial Day weekend, and we did just as he and Mom had planned. And despite many friends being out of town for the holiday, we had over 250 people show up at the memorial service, overflowing the tiny church more than it had ever been filled. To his dying day, he was trying to make things easier for our family. I miss him.
8.
My grandfather on his deathbed said “they have no eyes,” still give me chills.
9.
“Get home safe, little one.” It wasn’t what he said – he said the same thing to me any time I had him as a patient for the evening. It was how he said it. He gave me this look and pause like he knew. The DNR’s in my experience, always know when it’s time. It’s creepy.
10.
Checked in on a patient before the end of my shift and she was in good spirits, had been joking with me the whole time. Her condition was tenuous (new trach) but she had been positive throughout. I asked how she was doing and she replied by singing “The old gray mare ain’t what she used to be” and wished me a good night.
I came in the next morning and she had coded and died overnight.
11.
Came into an early shift and was handed over a patient who’d been very anxious and had a panic attack overnight. He was anxious all morning but obs all fine, ecg fine and so I just asked someone to sit with him to keep an eye on him/reassure him for me. He gets worse, really panicky, heavy breathing, he’s on his side in the fetal position.
Drs will be in in 10 minutes so I tell him I’ll get them to him as soon as they come in but ask if he’ll lie on his back for me to help his breathing. He tells me he won’t make it until they get here and that he won’t face the other way. Obs still all fine at this point but he’s more agitated so again I suggest he move position for comfort and that’s when he says, ‘I won’t make it until the Drs get here. If I turn to face the other way I’ll die’. He repeated this a few times to me.
He arrested literally as the Drs walked in and he died on the side he’d been refusing to turn to. I’m convinced he knew.
12.
I’m an apprentice funeral director. We went to a nursing home on a removal and as we were walking down the hall one of the patients got antsy and opened the door to his room and saw us walking with the stretcher.
“I’ll see you next week boys”
And guess who we had to pick up the next week.
13.
I found one of my “comfort measures only” patients standing at the side of his bed. It surprised me because he had been mostly unresponsive during my shift. I helped him back into bed and he asked me why all these people were in his room.
He suddenly became quiet again and I noticed he wasn’t breathing. He was a DNR so there wasn’t anything to do to try to bring him back. Looking back he may have been talking about me and the CNA that was helping me get him back into bed, but who knows what or who he was seeing the last minutes of his life. Still creeps me out a little when I think about it.
14.
I had a cousin that had cancer and died when he was a little kid. He once asked her mother why all these people visited and she said: “Because your cousins, aunts and uncles love you very much and want you to get better” and he answered, “I’m not talking about them, I’m talking about the ones that visit me at night.”
15.
My first hospice case. She was on morphine and started mock smoking. She looked at me, took my hand and said “please” in the most pleading voice I’ve ever heard. I sat with her body until the corner arrived. She has no friends or family. Only her lawyer showed up. I’ve only done one hospice case since.
16.
I’ve commented this somewhere before but it’s stayed with me! I’m an RN and while I was a student I was caring for a lady who had end stage renal failure, had a DNAR and was shutting down. We were having a little chat, well I was chatting away while helping her put on some lotion, when she stopped, looked over my shoulder and said, “Bill’s here love, I’ve got to go” and swiftly stopped breathing. Read her old notes and Bill was her deceased husband.
17.
DNR patient was on comfort cares. Was on a high dose of morphine and hallucinating. She would alternate between grasping for things not there and trying to climb out of bed. She was too unsteady to walk so my job was to sit in the room and make sure she was safe. She tried to get up and I went to ask her what she needed. She grabbed my arm and pulled me down towards her face and said, very angrily, “kill me”. That one fucked with me for awhile.
18.
Back when I was a CNA this one resident fell off a bike for exercise in pt and seized, they came to and became lucid and said, “I think I’m dying,” but everyone in the room assured her that wasn’t going to happen, she seized up and was dead within minutes.
19.
Last year: my grandfather started desperately pleading for his life with his German captors from WWII
The doctor present was smart and said in German: “You are free, Herr Caticature. You are free.” And then he died.
20.
I actually have 3 that stick out in my mind. An 83 year old woman that said “My mom’s here. Are we going?” She died a few minutes later.
Another older lady said “I think I’m going to die today…” we took vitals, everything seemed fine. She was stable. She had a heart attack a couple hours later. Not her last words, but the last she ever said to me.
The last one is definitely the creepiest. A nice old lady who told my CNA she wanted to wear all white. When asked why, she said “The man in black is here.”
She looked in the corner of the room. The CNA looked, but there was no one there. That’s when I came into the room. We asked her to describe what she was seeing and she said “he’s in all black, and he’s got a top hat on.” Then she whispered “and his eyes are red” while her eyes moved across the room to directly behind the CNA, like she was watching him move closer to us. She died later that night. But it was unexpected. That room creeped me out for a long time after that.

Tumblr media

A:/N: happy Christmas Eve eve!!!  Finally done with part four and turns out I ended up writing a plot that flows slower than intended (oops). I’m sorry for the wait but I’ve been sort of busy with holiday-related procrastination. Also…. I’m working on a request and a Bucky royal au which I’ll be posting soon. As always, lots and lots of love and thanks for reading ❤️ Pls tell me what you think.
(BTW… there’s a flashback at the end, it’s in italics.)
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN ANY OF THE DISNEY DESCENDANTS CHARACTERS, THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN CHARACTERS NOR THE SANDERSON SISTERS. All credit goes to the creators, writers, and producers. Same with the HP charms, credit goes to J.K Rowling (for now, just present in the first parts).
part one        part two      part three      mobile masterlist
— Oi, lass, lass,— a familiar intone is heard when I open the window.
To my surprise, I spot Harry behind a trash container, with my cloak resting on his right shoulder.
When he sees my head peeking out of the second floor window, he pipes, — if you wanted to see me again, you should’ve just asked.
— Who says I wanted to see you, that was a hint for Gil to find.
He snickers at my words,— ya gaunnie come get yer manky cloak, or do I have to go up there?
—Shit, — I breathe — Just a second!
I close the window and look at Jay, who quirks a brow but doesn’t move from his spot on my desk. He began to explore my sketchbook app a few minutes ago, and seems to be completely immersed in it. Nevertheless, he puts the device down and chuckles, — This is you’re place, you know. Say the word and I’ll be out.
His words take me by surprise. Even if he’s been here for a few hours, I still can’t get completely used to the idea of such dangerous people, who are feared to death back home, being as decent and friendly as they have been during my stay here.
So, after a brief goodbye, he leaves and, after all of my Auradon-related stuff, I open the window once again.
— You already came all the way here, what’s a few steps up.
He’s about to make his way up the fire escape but, after a few steps toward it, he crosses his arms and says, — Yer right, I came to yer place, don’t I deserve a prize?
He’s such a flirt. After debating it with myself for a second, I make up my mind.
— Come here and get it, — I wink.
Without a second thought, he runs up the stairs outside the building and reaches my window in no time. What I’m I doing? No one was supposed to find out about this place, yet I’ve brought two vks here in just a day. I try to keep my cool as the pirate walks toward me, stopping about a foot away.
He smirks, —So, doll, ‘bout me prize.
I feel the heat in my cheeks when he takes a small step closer, placing a hand on the side of my waist.
—oh, right… that,——
Think fast, think fast….
I smile at him sweetly and kiss his right cheek, retrieving my cloak from his shoulder. — your welcome, — I smirk.
He laughs at my antics, — yer kidding? Don’t ya say that’s it! Glaickit of ya to think I’ll leave with just that.
—Who says you have to leave?— I utter the words while stepping back in order to sit on my bed.
His brows jump up and his ocean blue eyes shine with mischief and surprise. — What’d you suggest, doll.
— Staying here for a while but, now that I think of it, wouldn’t it be more fun to go out? The docks, maybe?
— Nah, depends on what you want to do. — his words keep coming out laced with an air of innuendo.
Not wanting to give up yet, I decide to play coy. — You know, the usual; take a walk, grab a bite, ‘keep the heid’, don’t you have to do rounds?
This time, it is a mix of mischief and excitement that floods him. — Yer right, can’t wait to see the faces of those wingnut vampires when ya scare the shit outta them!
— yeah… I’m thrilled.
Why did I suggest this, of all possible things to do? The question seems to be trapped in my mind. Ever since we left the apartment, Harry began to show a new side of himself, one that I had only seen in the papers I read beforehand.
He invited me to do his rounds with him, on the way to the docks and, needless to say, my magic resulted completely useless when it came to achieving the level of fear that Harry had in mind.
— Not so badass now? bastard, — he hisses, with a smirk on his face as his hook grabs some guy by the jacket. — whatcha gonna do?
The guy limits himself to whimper and let out some sort of cry. Given that the pirate has already grabbed everything that caught his eye, together with the designated amount of golden coins, the business there is dimmed as finished and we finally  begin walking to Ursula’s.
—So what ya think, see yourself doing this with me and the crew?— he asks.
—Not really, not one for all of the intimidating.
— Ain’t so sure ‘bout that, lassie. You’ve done pretty well for what I’ve seen. — it is kind of weird to hear such words coming from him; even more so when sincerity is all across his handsome features.
I snicker, — yeah, right; I can’t even get a fly to run away.
His chin lifts up and his chest comes forward subtly, — I’d help you with that, if you decided to join us. In fact, — he wiggles his brows with a smirk, — I’d train you.
— As tempting as that sounds, I’ll have to decline, Hook. Got better things to do:
I shouldn’t even think twice about declining but something about exploring my vk side a bit further than I’ve been able to doesn’t sound completely crazy. Maybe is the way he looks at me, or should I say through me, with his ocean eyes; or the way in which those same eyes shine when he’s about to wreak havoc? Don’t really know, and not sure if I really want to.
Guess I’ll just have to solve this problem in the way I do it best, ignoring my questions until they go away.
I begin to run and chant, — Race you to the docks!
….
Panting, I stop in front of Ursula’s and get inside. The place is packed with members of Uma’s crew, some of which seem to recognize me. They acknowledge me without hostility, still thankful for what I did for them the night of the party.
—Look, Uma, Y/N’s here! Bet she’s looking for Harry, — Beams Gil, the blond and tall guy who first broke the ice with me the night I met the crew.
Uma smirks and approaches me, — Look, witchy, not sure if you got the memo but one night stands are supposed to be just that, and last one night, nothing more.
— Thanks for the heads up, cap, but I’m actually here to grab a pint. — I sit down on a barstool.
— in that case, — she turns away, visibly relaxing, — Bonnie! A beer for bibbity bobbity bullshit over here!
When Uma is behind the bar again, Harry, who had been inside and contemplating the scene, approaches me.
— Sorry ‘bout that, Uma just knows me too well,— he ventures. — Ain’t good for the business to have every lady in the isle claiming to see me, now is it?
His cockiness is amusing as it is annoying. — Oh, of course — I ponder.— that would be completely tragic.
He chuckles at me and steals a sip from my still full beer. Honestly, I don’t even like beer that much; just ordered it to play the part. Go
— Yer different, though, — he claims, but I don’t believe a word.
— Do tell, why is that?
— You’re not as annoying. Actually, I kinda like having you ‘round, — he flirts.
— So you, Mr. use-‘em-‘n-dump-‘em, are claiming I’m special? — I gasp mockingly, — what an honor.
We both laugh a bit, share another sip of beer, and he continues.
He shrugs, — Yer also fast. Not enough, but fast; even if you were playing dirty.
—Oh, gods, aren’t you one to talk about that! — I accuse,— and, given the case that I did play dirty, how did I do it?
— Lookie here — he gesticulates, motioning himself. — Racing a hungover pirate ain’t fair, besides, I had too much clothes on.
I chuckle, part of me wishing I could wipe that smirk off his face. — You’re just a bad loser, I’m pretty sure you’re always hungover; and, as for your clothes, not sure how that’s related to me kicking your ass.
— How low do ya think of me, doll, ya think I’m a bad loser? — he fakes a gasp. — and, as for my clothes, —his tone is mocking, — can’t you just enjoy me charm and help me solve the problem? But, in case you wanted a serious answer for your question, nakedness makes me more aerodynamic.
— wouldn’t you like that, Captain cockiness.— my brow quirks up. — And seriously, aerodynamic? Yeah, right.
— Not as much as ya would, my little witch.
I scoff as my eyes drift over to the window. The day is warm despite the lack of sun, so I suggest, — I think I’m gonna go for a walk. Come with me?
…….
The sound of the waves crashing against the docks is one that I’ve loved my whole life, back home, my dad and I go for boat rides often. However, here there’s a bunch of noise that accompanies the punches of water against wood and stones. The market is busy as we walk, but most of the catches turn out to be dead fish and trash that arrives from Auradon.
— I still don’t believe you, you know? It’s impossible for you to fit the grip of your hook inside your mouth; besides, how can I believe you if your too chickened up to prove it,— my arms cross expectantly.
Since we got out of Ursula’s, Harry’s been telling me a bunch of stories of his and Gil’s drunken deeds, and I may have also revealed a few of mine and Chad’s own disventures. For the last five minutes, he’s been trying to convince me that he’s capable of putting the whole base of his hook inside his mouth, but refuses to show me.
— Lass, ya’ll have to take me word for it. I’m still a few bottles of scotch away from doing that again.
—pff,— I playfully shove him sideways. — Yeah, right.
He places the tip of his hook on his chin, pretending to think, — you know, shouldn’t have spilled so much, now ya have lots of dirt on me.
—What am i gonna use it for? You know what, never mind. — I proclaim, — You, Harry James Hook, just made the worst mistake of your life. Now I’ll overthrow you and Uma, and take over the lost revenge. Buahahaha!
He laughs at me and counters, — seriously lass, some of these things, I’ve never told anyone before.
—relax Hook, you can trust me, — I smile, with the sincerity I can muster.
— Oh, okay then.
After the short moment of vulnerability, we fall into a void of uncomfortable silence. We continue to walk along the brick street next to the sea, and my hands seem to find a permanent place inside the pockets of my jacket. Harry softly whistles a melody with his eyes locked down, but looks up and smiles as we reach a familiar ship.
His frame stiffs for a moment as he inquires — You sure I can trust ya?
I hesitate, — Yes, of course.
— Then come on, you’re meeting someone. — he grins.
The ship seems to be isolated from the rest, yet it is full of crew members that work and bounce from one side of the deck to the other.
When we enter their sight, they stop to stare at us and pull out their swords.
One of them speaks with a threatening and raspy voice, — Not outsiders in the Black Pearl, Hook.
— Relax, Y/N ain’t gonna start beef, Barbossa. — Harry assures, — where’s Jack at?
— Sure hope she does cause some trouble, we could always use some tasty ladies here in this humble ship. — the malice in his expression makes me shiver, not to mention the wicked grin coming from the monkey on his shoulder, so I move slightly behind Harry.
At this point, it’s evident that the younger pirate’s patience is becoming thinner. — She’s not here for that, now where’s Jack?
Barbossa’s pounding laugh comes laced with his response, — His chambers, drinking. Good luck getting him outta there.
So, shielding me from the Wolfish looks sent by some crew members, Harry drags me to what I assume is the entrance of the captain’s quarters.
He knocks three times and a groan is heard on the other side, right before the breaking of a bottle and an incoherent train of curse words.
The door opens to reveal a tanned middle aged man sporting wild dreadlocks and a bored expression. However, his facade changes as soon as he registers that Harry was the one who dared interrupt him.
—Powder Monkey! What brings you to this old man’s ship?— his arm flies over Harry’s shoulder and he drags him inside.
I follow closely behind. My eyes scan the wooden floor and walls, the scattered pieces of green glass that I’m sure recently fell down, and a table full of unopened bottles, surrounded by five stools.
— Just thought I’d come ‘n greet, so you pack of salty dogs wouldn’t forget ‘bout me.
— Nah, wouldn’t forget ‘bout my favorite boot cleaner, — he smiles, showcasing a few golden teeth, — now would I?
Harry’s only response is to laugh as he opens a bottle of rum, — Also, wanted you to meet a, uhh, an acquaintance. Jack, Y/N; Y/N, this is Jack.
Acquaintance, seriously?
He turns my way, smirking and stretching out a dusty hand, — Well, let me say, m’lady, any friend of Jimbo here is a friend of mine. —After we shake hands, he sits down on the table, grabbing yet one more bottle, — Now tell me, what stupidity have you done to cross ways with this wonky piece of sea garbage?
I’m about to start, but Harry interjects, — She can’t tell you nothing without a dram.
— Only got rum, Hookey, who do ya think yer talking to, Turner?— he scoffs.
— Rum it is, then.
Awkwardly, I state, — Actually, I’m good as it is, gentlemen.
— You don’t drink? — This time, Sparrow breaks into laughter,— got a princess in your hands, Harry. But m’lady, — he turns toward me,— we all drink here, ‘s the code.
I chuckle, — Fine, but just a few drinks.
Thank god I have my boots on, I think to myself as I look at the floor. A fit of giggles scale my lips, followed by an almost unperceivable hiccup. It’s been a few hours since we arrived at the Pearl, and we’ve been drinking nonstop. At the beginning, it was only Jack and the two of us, but then Gil ended up here, together with maestre Gibbs.
I told them how I met Harry, but that’s the only truth that I’ve spilled. After all, knowing where I’m from would be enough motivation for these men to make me walk the plank and straight into the kraken’s nest. From then on, I’ve been mostly listening.
— So, then I was like ‘proceed,’ but they noticed I wasn’t white so the one with the fancy wig went all ‘it’s Jack Sparrow, it’s Jack sparrow!’ and I was like ‘nub-uh, I’m justice Smith.’ — Jack speaks  between laughs, with exaggerated esticulations, as he takes another sip of some cheap wine; the rum ran out like an hour ago.
— You saved my ass that day, Jack, I remember it like it happened this very morning, — Gibbs patted his friend’s shoulder.
Gil chimes in, — like that time you saved us from the Huns, we wouldn’t have lasted two seconds without you and Anamaria.
— I haven’t heard that one yet, — I voice, utterly curious.
— Well, — Jack announces, then yawns. — you’ll have to hear it another time, Y/N/N. I've got some business, you know? Gotta sleep for a few years now.
Being the ship’s captain, and the two young pirates’ mentor, no one’s hesitant to comply. We get up and say goodbye, then make our way outside.
All three of us are still fairly drunk, so I decide to take this chance to see if I can get them to open up.
— I still haven’t heard the story of you guys and the Huns.
— ‘S a long one, lass. — states Harry, placing an arm around my shoulder, to which I respond by loosely grabbing his wrist with my right hand, as to keep his arms from moving.
— Well, we’ve got time! — I yowel.
— You’re gonna love it, Y/N. — As we walk, Gil begins to explain, taking a sip of the bottle we grabbed from the Pearl.— We were like seven when that happened?
----
Harry and Gil walked silently, as they kept an eye on Shan Yu’s men. It was Harry’s first official mission as part of his father’s crew, or it was gonna be, and he had called Gil and Uma for help and support. Sadly, the young sea witch had been grounded that very morning, so she couldn’t be there with the two boys. To say that they had absolutely no idea what they were doing was a complete understatement. They were clueless.
So, they did what seemed rational at the moment: follow the enemies and wait for the perfect moment to attack. Or… at least that’s what Gil had heard his father say when he talked about hunting.
—Shh!! — scolded Harry, — you’re gonna make them see us, Gil!
The blond boy muttered a quick ‘sorry,’ and continued walking, this time avoiding collisions.
— Harry, they’re getting into a warehouse, we should wait out here. — Gil intoned, chocolate eyes shining with fear.
Harry immediately countered and, on the contrary to his friend’s, his blue orbs were  flooded with pride and determination. —No, this is my chance to prove father that I can be a real pirate. If we make it, he will train me.
----
We continue walking through the very same road that we took earlier today (yesterday, as midnight passed a few hours ago). Harry’s arm remains placed around me and mine has now found its way around his middle.
As he speaks, I feel the soft vibrations of Harry’s voice and the alcohol that pleasantly poisoned his breath; — so, we decided to ambush the Huns right there.
— We decided? You manipulated me into going, — Gil points out, giggling.
Harry sighs and grumbles, — Anyway, the point is we went inside and here we are; so, continue talking Gil. Before sunrise, if you can.
----
The two boys literally crossed a door that had no way back. They hid behind a few boxes of what they supposed were ingredients for Dim Sum, and carefully watched as the Hun soldiers opened a chest full of gold that they had stolen from the Jolly Roger.
— There it is, — Harry whispered in awe.
— It’s a lot of gold, — Gil quavered.
Back then, they were convinced that no one was aware of their presence, but a certain pirate lord who had his eyes on the very same prize had seen them from the start.
— Isn’t that Hook’s boy? — asked Anamaria.
—Yup.
She continued to press on the topic, — shouldn’t we take him? He’d be useful against his father; we could get some money out of him.
—Nope.
— And why the hell not, Jack?
The captain sighed, as he adjusted his position on the ceiling bar, — Jim doesn’t pose a threat at the moment and nothing he has seems to be worth it these days, the boy’s useless.
The Huns continued to speak in hushed tones, reason why none of the intruding parties were able to register what was happening.
The kids didn’t even have time to move when they felt the cold metal of swords against the back of their necks. With their hands raised in defeat, they stood up and faced Shan Yu’s soldiers.
—Your father didn’t even have the balls to come here himself?
— Maybe we could send him your fingers? Or maybe even your left hand? That way you’d get matching hooks.
The grown men spoke as they advanced on the two boys, making them head toward the wall of the building. When they had them cornered, both Huns raised their swords and both boys shielded their heads with their arms; but no harm came their way.
Instead, they saw the Huns fighting two other people, whom Harry recognized as members of the enemy pirate crew, the tripulation of the Black Pearl.
— So that’s why you went after the kids —chortled the man. — Your technique is worse than your fashion sense, and that’s saying something.
Both boys giggled at his words.
The man’s combat was sparkled with humor and witty comments, while the woman fought silently and with a stern expression, only groaning every few hits. Both of them had impeccable technique, and they seemed to be dancing in perfect coordination.
After what had seemed to be hours, the Huns ended up dead.
— I can’t believe I agreed to come with you in the first place, — hissed the woman, cleaning her left boot with the end of her puffy white sleeve.
— Come one, don’t tell me it wasn’t fun!
She ignored her companion and approached the boys, who had been contemplating their interaction.
— Hey, — she smiled, — I’m Ana, and that idiot over there is captain Jack Sparrow.
Harry stepped forward, — I’m quartermaster Harry Hook, and this is my friend Gil.
—Quartermaster? Harry, your father doesn’t even let you near the crew.
Harry glared at his friend and decided to explain to the two strangers, — well, I’m not exactly a quartermaster… yet! — he assured. — but I’m gonna be one, when my dad decides to train me.
It was the man’s turn to speak, and his voice came tinted with venom. — You mean Jim sent you here without training? Not even I would do that.
— My dad doesn’t think I have what it takes to be a pirate. I was gonna bring him his treasure back and show him I do have it, but I guess you’re gonna take it, right?
‘Not the puppy eyes, not those; anything but the puppy eyes!’ Jack pleaded to himself, but he ended up looking at the boy and giving in.
He groaned, and then spoke up. — We’ll all go back to the Pearl. There, well split the gold and maybe you’ll learn a thing or two.
— Uma’s gonna love this, — grinned the boys in unison.
----
We arrived at the end of the road, so the three of us sat on the edge of the dock, feet dangling over the water.
— So, that’s basically it. — concludes Gil. — Jack taught us everything we know about being pirates. Then, he helped us get the Lost Revenge.
I take a drink, — And, you’re all still pretty close to him. That’s really cool.
Harry chuckles, — well, we kind of owe him everything we are.
I lift my head, which was resting on his shoulder, and glance at him. — That’s not true; he may have trained you, but I’m sure you all have become your own selves.
— Don’ be stupid, lass, he did it because it meant a future a alliance and an advantage, not because he has a teaching vocation.
I sigh, looking for adequate words to phrase what I want to say, — Then you guys owe him what you know about piracy, nothing more.
None of the two pirates said anything.
You know, — Gil sighed, — he’s been there for us more than our own parents. He even saved us from Hook’s crew once, when we were thirteen.
—Still, he did it because we’d signify power for him and not because he cared about us. — Harry takes a long swing of liquor.
I sigh, — Still, I think that, even if he didn’t care at the beginning, he’s fond of you guys now.
Harry’s about to object, but he thinks for a moment and mumbles, — he’s been around for quite a while, even for me sisters.
—I’m just pretty glad that we found him, — Gil hummed, — since I began training with him, my father has been going on about how proud he is that I’m big and strong, and how he hopes that I’ll get myself a nice lady.
— Funny, — Harry says with a tint of grief, — my dad stopped talking to me when the moment I stepped on the Pearl.
Once again, we fall into silence. I fall backwards and look at the cloudy sky, Gil and Harry soon follow and, once again, I find a spot right under the first mate’s arm.
— I’m kind of sleepy, guys.— Gil voices my thoughts, we should head back to the Revenge.
Without complaining, the three of us stand up and walk back to the ship. Instead of heading to their quarters, Harry and Gil lead me to a few hammocks that are placed on deck for those on night guard.
Harry takes off his boots and coat, sitting on one, —‘m sure Uma won’t mind if we use these for tonight.
—Yeah, no big deal, — Yawns Gil.
— Kay.
I’m already beginning to sober up, so sleep is beginning to hit me. Without a second thought, I lay down and wrap myself in my cloak. I drift off to sleep, and my head clears.
It only lasts a few hours, though. I wake up with nausea and my head pounding. Sitting up, decision which immediately regret, I look around for Harry and Gil but turns out I’m alone. I get up and rub my eyes, walking towards Frollo’s creperie, which is a few blocks away from Ursula’s.
I arrive and bark my order, like I’ve seen people do it around here. Then, with a huff, I sit down and quickly glance at my watch.
9:30 am… shit!

Scooby Doo Plot Bunny that wouldn't leave me alone (Cyber/Biopunk-ish???)
So I can up with this interesting twist to @phantoms-lair “Wizard Shaggy” not-so-crack theory, since let's be honest, Shaggy is totally a wizard. However I wanted to add my own twist. Mind you, this has nothing to do with the actual series Scooby Doo and is only an artistic “what if?” scenario I came up with. You see I love “punk” culture, and by punk culture, I mean biopunk, cyberpunk, steampunk, solarpunk, lunarpunk, you get the picture. The whole aesthetic is fascinating to me and I love the concept, so I'm aiming for a cyber/solar/biopunk thing here. It's gonna be like Shadowrun so magic will be involved. Cyberpunk because it would be set in the distant future, solarpunk because of the hippie culture of the 70s and the whole clean energy thing is something I wholeheartedly believe in, and finally biopunk is the actual reason as of why I thought of this. Most of the original theory is based around the seemingly impossible things Shaggy can do or survive, but I'm going to be focusing on the things he can survive because you can basically just chalk up the rest of it to magic. So here's my little AU crack theory thing.
(It will be in the form of a story so be warned and it gets a little creepy and demented just to let you know)
Norville Rogers had always been a sickly child. He was frail and his bones were weak, no matter how much he ate he was still painfully skinny, and he was terrified of practically everything. He had to take medications daily just to function without collapsing. He had barely any friends because his family kept him locked in his room for his safety. He meet his best friend his only friend [Daphne] at a party his family was invited to and he managed to escape his guards. She was standing on the balcony, sad and lonely, just like him, so he introduced himself and asked her for a dance. Ever since then, the two had been close friends, sneaking out to see each other whenever they could. She even gave him his new nickname, “Shaggy”.
Soon, however, his father decided to ship him off to military school after finding out about their meetings, and enrolled him into a special program they have for “special needs” kids, including genetic modification and advanced transhumanism. It was used to help permanently “fix” children in the eyes of the government, “Lead him up in the way he should go and he will never stray from it” [Quote from Bioshock Infinite]. The night before he left, he gave his friend one last goodbye, she begged him to stay to run away, but he refused. He said that he couldn't survive without his medications and couldn’t be himself without them, so he promised that he would find some way to return to her, and told her to wait for him. And she did.
The academy was like hell. They poked and prodded at him to figure out just what was wrong with him. They injected so many serums and fluids into him he lost count. But, it definitely worked. He was stronger now, his bones were reinforced with carbon nanostructures, his skin and tendons strengthened with tissue proteins like orb weaver silk. His blood oxygen saturation was increased and his resting heart rate reduced. TCSs for increased learning capabilities, scleral implants to widen the focus distance of his eyes, electrosensory abilities through silicone pads with rare earth materials, improved hearing sensitivity with protection from loud noises, increased sensitivity of vestibular sense of balance, and even added a subvocalization system to his larynx! [All of this I got off of another post by @kasaron it just reminded me so much of Shaggy and all the weird shit he can do.] While all of this was great and all, it was still as painful as hell to get and the training was worse. He knew he had to escape after four years of the onslaught of torture.
(CREEPINESS STARTS HERE)
They forced the students into “real life” battle scenarios and pretty much scarred them for life, they physically abused them to the point of exhaustion, and their super fast metabolism didn't help and in fact starved them to death since the program refused to give them more than what they were regulated to give out. It was a kill or be killed, strong survive over the weak, world. And if that wasn't bad enough, they were using the program to turn the “students” into monsters. Mindless, soulless, monsters that only followed the directions their given and turning to obedient puppet like slaves, ment for war and killing purposes only. If they didn't have orders to fulfill, then what good were they? Shaggy was terrified of this and had to get out of this hellhole. He had tried multiple times, but had yet to succeed, until an opportunity appeared to him.
During the final exam of his last year before being sent off to the real military, he was facing off against one of his “teachers” - tormentors more like - and won. This teacher wasn't like the others though, he was demented and the source of the physical abuse and had a creepy thing for poor Shaggy. So if Shaggy failed this exam, he wouldn't just fail for the year, but would lose literally everything, winner takes all. The exam was to fight against the teacher and win, so he used everything to his advantage to try to get the upper hand without hurting himself, but so did he. The teacher liked to taunt and mock this students to get them to grow angry and lose control, costing them the match, and he was doing the exact same tactic to antagonize Shaggy. But Shaggy was different, with every insult and mockery he threw out it only fueled his drive to escape, until he said something that shook him to his core. It was like a switch, in that moment gone was the kind hearted and loving boy the academy students knew and in his place was a killer with a heart made of stone.
His speed doubled and accuracy increased, he attacked from all sides dropping his defensive guard. The teacher thought he had finally gotten to the kid, but his smug smile was wiped off his face when he realized that Shaggy's movements weren't random acts of anger lashing out, they were calculated and thought out attacks, looking for his pressure points, weak points, and staying in his blind spots. Unlike other kids, when Shaggy is thoroughly pissed off, his emotional right brain is shutdown and only his cold and calculative left brain remains, fueled by the drive to escape his tormentors, even if that meant to run them down. Unconsciously, he begins to use his dormant magic to amplify his abilities and, while in a blind rage, strikes down his teacher in cold blood. Upon realizing what he had done, he snaps. Staring down at his blood stained hands, a small smile pulls at his lips and laughter bubbles in his chest, soon enough, he's full-blown cackling, laughing hysterically. His laughter turns to hysterical screams and cries, sobbing as it finally dawns on him that he killed his teacher.
The academy decides that Shaggy had become too strong, too powerful, to keep at their facility, and is even more of a danger since he doesn't recall the actual fight. They decided that they would stage his death and execute him. Upon arriving at the scene, Shaggy can't afford to waste anymore time and makes his escape. Terrified of being captured and killed, he runs away.
(CREEPINESS ENDS)
As he finally made his escape, he had to go through the entire facility to get dirt and evidence for what the place was doing. During which, he came across a dog in a very similar situation to his own. SC-00-B3-RT D:00 was a prototype experiment created by the academy to be a hunting and attack dog with human like intelligence. Equipped with navigation systems and a black box like feature, he saved the pooch and brought him along. The record system on the collar SC-00-B3-RT, or Scooby as he called him, had given Shaggy the idea to steal the “school's” records and use it as evidence, especially what they had done to him. As he did so, he was found and chased throughout the facility. This eventually got him caught in an explosion that should have killed him, but didn’t, however the school took it as his demise and simply moved on without a care.
Thankfully, Shaggy was alive though just barely and was found by a group of people that nursed him, and Scooby, back to health [I imagined Texas's gang from Legend of the Phantosaur]. They helped him find his way back home to his family and explained to his parents that he “dropped out” of the program and transferred to the public school system. Thanks to the men who helped him, all the paperwork was already in place and his parents could do anything about it. And without Shaggy's records of even being there in the first place, the “School” couldn't tell his parents that he was “dead.” Living with his parents again was relaxing, yes, but he couldn't help but feel empty. Finally deciding he has had enough, he moves out just before his freshman year and goes to live with his aunt in the apartment above her cafe and bakery shoppe.
In his first year he meets a young man, just a couple months younger than he is [Fred, I headcanon that Shaggy is the older one since technically him and Fred are the same age], and invites him to live with him. He found the poor kid trembling with his wrist slit open and leaning over bloody sink in the bathroom and managed to get him to spill about the abuse in his home. They became good friends after that since they really didn't have anyone else other than themselves. His Sophomore year, he found his best friend again. Overjoyed, he didn't want to leave her side again and surprisingly, Shaggy and his two friends had the same classes together. And finally, he met a wonderful little lady that had a knack for science [Velma], and even dated her for a while before eventually cutting it off, but that's a whole ‘nother story.
During an after school detention they got for separate reasons, they found out about a mystery that their school was literally built on top of and a legend about the old principle of the old school that still lurked in the catacombs beneath them. Since then, they had gained a pension for getting into situations and mysteries then meddling in things they didn't understand. Despite all his complaining about ghost and monsters, at least this was more enjoyable than his time at the academy. Sure, the gang was curious about the seemingly miraculous things he could do and survive, their skinny friend was something of an enigma to them, but they trusted that, when he was ready, he would tell them about his scarred past.
Oooh boy, that turned into an origin story for Shaggy real quickly. I know the “punk” elements aren't very prominent, but I tried to link everything that Shaggy can do and survive, and even included his constantly terrified behavior, into it too. But this was just a little plot bunny that wouldn't leave me alone until I wrote it down. If you want me to expand on this let me know, I have multiple ideas roaming around in my head for this, I just have to wrangle them all up.

“She’s Got Moves”
Blake's eyes were glued to her Scroll. She must be reading fanfiction again, Weiss figured. One of Blake's favorite writers had been publishing fics about that purple-haired magic girl from those video games Blake and Ruby loved so dearly, and according to Blake, this person wrote the characters exceptionally.
"Did they update AGAIN? You just finished that chapter yesterday!" Weiss asked her favorite girl. Blake looked up from her Scroll to see her icy lady looking at her.
"No, it was just so good I had to read it again! I LOVE the way this author writes Rottytops!" Blake answered with hearts in her eyes at the mention of her favorite character.
"She's the green one, correct? The zombie that really wants to eat Shantae? But also really loves her?" Weiss remembered. She wasn't sure how, as much as Ruby talked about those games. Blake nodded.
"Everyone wants her to eat Shantae, just not to consume her..." Blake joked. Weiss rolled her eyes.
"You're terrible, do you know that?" Weiss told her feline girlfriend.
"Isn't that why you love me?" Blake nicked, reaching out and poking Weiss's nose with one finger. "BOOP!"
"You're my favorite girl for many reasons, Panther!" Weiss answered her, clearing the distance between them and kissing Blake softly on the lips. Blake's hand crept up Weiss's leg as the panther girl kissed back.
"GAY!!" Yang yelled from the other bunk. Yang would know, Weiss thought, seeing as she'd been running around with Coco so much. Schnee kept that thought to herself, but Blake must have been thinking the same thing.
"Says the girl who was screaming Coco's name at the top of her voice two nights ago..." Blake chided. Yang shrugged.
"The coffee broad puts it on me pretty well! Speaking of girls, is Ruby still chasing Velvet?"
"Nope! I finally caught the bunny!" Ruby bragged from the bathroom. Yang grinned at that. "She's seeing someone at the moment, but she has this adorable friend that she introduced me to, and Penny and I hit it off really well! We're actually stepping out later tonight!"
"Go ahead, Sis!" Yang congratulated her kid sister. Weiss and Blake clapped quietly for her. Ruby blushed brightly, her whole face turning ten shades of red.
"Well, I knew you had that crush on Pyrrha for a while..." Yang mused.
"Who HASN'T had a crush on Pyrrha? She's like a walking muscle!" Ruby replied.
"With red hair and great legs..." Weiss added.
"And a sweet behind!" Blake threw in for good measure.
"And gods, those eyes!" Yang chimed in. The four of them all thought about Pyrrha for a few moments longer than they probably should have...
"...Gods, we are all gay as hell!" Yang mused. The four of them burst into laughter at that.
"Pyrrha loves that blond boy, anyhow. They make a nice little couple." Ruby cheered. She always did believe in Arkos, even when she was trying to get next to Pyrrha.
"Sure, if you like white people!" Yang joked. Weiss rolled her eyes. She looked back at Blake and kissed her neck instead of making a comment toward Yang.
"So Ruby..." Blake asked as Weiss pecked sweet kisses onto her neck. "Have you been reading these Shantae fanfics, too?"
"I read ALL the Shantae fanfics! Well, most of them. Some of them are disgusting, unfortunately... but yeah! Which ones do you mean?" Ruby answered excitedly. She did duly love Shantae. They were some of her favorite video games.
"The ones by PinkLightningBolt! They seem to ship Shantae and Rottytops pretty heavily!" Blake answered.
"Oh yeah, Nora's stuff! I read all of her fics, but I prefer the Shantae ones. Her other work is a tad on the smutty side for my taste." Blake's mouth hung open at Ruby's words.
"NORA writes those fics?!" She exclaimed. "I knew she wrote some smut stuff, but the writing styles are completely different! The Shantae fics are a lot less... explicit!" Blake could scarcely believe that the same person had written all these fictions.
Ruby raved about Nora's writings for a bit longer, but Weiss's legs had distracted Blake. Yang and Ruby fired up a brawler video game while Weiss and Blake cuddled on the couch and read more fanfics. A particularly fluffy one had the both of them blushing and making cute noises.
"Gods, you two need to stop!" Yang complained. Blake rolled her eyes.
"BUT IT'S SO FLUFFY!!" Weiss fired back, hugging Blake even tighter than she had been. She nuzzled Blake's neck.
"You guys are so gross!" Ruby shook her head, mashing buttons on her game controller. "CRIMINY!!" She shrieked as she lost another fight. "This game is trash!! Can I play some Shantae now?!"
"But those aren't multiplayer!" Yang whined.
"Let the kid have some fun, Yang! Besides, Shantae games are fun!" Blake told her. Yang rolled her eyes at Blake.
"Shut up and grope Weiss, Cat Ears!"
"Not that I had to be told to do that, but sure." Blake smacked one hand onto Weiss's rear. Weiss felt lightheaded at the touch. Not to be outdone, Weiss shifted her hand toward Blake's chest. The two kissed again, very probably making Yang regret saying anything.
Ruby turned on her game. Shantae and the Pirate's Curse was her most favorite installment. The purple-haired heroine whipped at her enemies with her ponytail. "She's so awesome! I wish I had long, winsome hair!"
"Doesn't that girl from Team DNCE look a bit like her? What's her name again?" Blake queried. She took up her Scroll once she'd stopped groping Weiss for a moment. "Amethyst Enchante' is her name!"
"Yeah, she sort of does... I know her teammate Chartreuse reminds me of Rottytops! With her leg and everything."
"Oh yeah, she has a detachable leg like Rotty! I wonder if she can use it to unlock a dungeon..." Yang mentioned.
"HAH! So you DO like Shantae!" Blake snapped at Yang. The blonde rolled her eyes at Blake.
"She's a cute character, and the games are pretty funny! I just don't like single player stuff that much! I like to game with my friends!"
"Well, Yang, not everyone wants to play brawlers or MMOs. Some of us just want a game with a story," Weiss mentioned. She personally loved one player games. Not all multiplayer games were awful, but playing with others should be an option instead of a necessity.
"ROTTYTOPS!!" Blake yelled as her favorite character graced the screen. Weiss grinned at her girlfriend. She snuggled up to Blake some more, forever grateful for the cat lady's warm cuddles. She tickled one of Blake's ears, making Blake purr loudly.
"You two are the purr-fect couple!" Yang nicked. Both of them and Ruby all rolled their eyes.

Day Twenty-Nine: Under-Appreciated Character
I chose Blake for this prompt. I know she’s a main, but I’ve seen a lot of animosity toward Blake. There are corners of this fandom that really hate her for some reason. And then there are the people who only care about ships, and these people treat Blake like an object in their shipping wars.
Sure, that probably sounds like hypocrisy from such an avid Bumbleby shipper as myself, but I care more about Blake as a character than who she ends up being romantically involved with...
Blake is a wonderful character with a complex story and not just a prize for Yang or Sun. I would like to see her and Yang get together, but so long as RT doesn’t put her with Adam, I don’t care who her SO is. They could make her date ZWEI and I would be down with it.
So that’s why I shipped her with Weiss this time around. Even though Monochrome doesn’t make sense to me, it’s cute and I respect it. Plus, I’ve realized that if I’m going to be a decent fanfic author in this FNDM I need to step out of my comfort zone and write more than my usual batch of ships.
Not to say I won’t have standards. I won’t be shipping any violent pairings, and I’ll try to stay away from crack ships unless I need background stuff.
I also refuse to write about Adam or any male Schnee.
But yeah, 29 down, one to go!!!

His last words before he died were “why is this happening to me?” It still haunts me years later.
I’ve seen some shit, but that was the worst, 3. “You are going to beat this, you got away with murder, this is nothing” 6.
He gets worse, really panicky, heavy breathing, he’s on his side in the foetal position.
He once asked her mother why all these people visited and she said: “Because your cousins, aunts and uncles love you very much and want you to get better” and he answered, “I’m not talking about them, I’m talking about the ones that visit me at night.” 15.
When asked why, she said “The man in black is here.” She looked in the corner of the room.

He gets worse, really panicky, heavy breathing, he’s on his side in the foetal position.
When asked why, she said “The man in black is here.” She looked in the corner of the room.
