"That would suck, but again, that's why I felt like I had to show up just in case." Derya wasn't doing anything else, so it was an excuse to get out of her condo and mingle with someone new, as well as toss back some drinks, so it felt promising. Smiling at his introduction, she reached out and shook the offered hand gently. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Nelson. I'm Derya, but you can just call me Rya." She stated with a slight nod. "I'll make you a deal: I'll show you my decent dance moves if you just let loose and have fun with your crappy ones." She suggested before she leaned against the bar and ordered them shots of whiskey. It wasn't long before they were put down in front of them, and she tipped them before turning to Nelson. "Cheers to you, and to a new friendship?" She suggested.

“ fuck, can you imagine if all of the numbers were wrong? I’m would have made tonight really suck “ Nelson replied raising a brow. He had to admit that would have been a lot to deal with but despite the main having quite a bit of vanity to him he didn’t have an ego that would have been bruised by being left alone. “ shows you’re a pretty cool person for thinking like that. So who did I text? I’m Nelson by the way “ he offered holding out his hand. “ I promise you I will not be killing it on the dancefloor. @deryaxyilmaz

Zoe didn't engage with her mother and father in-law often, if ever, but she knew that Nikki was basically supposed to be the good Keaton child. It was crazy for them to have high expectations for her now that she was an adult, so she didn't mind encouraging her to rebel even a little bit. "Whatever you need, your sisters will cover for you." She promised. As soon as the blonde mentioned Erica, Zoe was definitely in need of a drink now. "She's uh...she was working late." She lied as she grabbed a beer, easily popping the cap off and taking a sip of it. As much as she lied to everyone else, lying to Nikki felt wrong, and she didn't really know what Erica had told her sister about them anyways so maybe it wasn't even necessary. "Honestly, I don't know where she is. I barely know how we are at this point, aside from her being sorry about everything she did and us sleeping under the same roof, just not in the same bed. I'm just playing it by ear at this point. But you don't need to worry about us on your night, Nikki. We'll...figure it out, so you just figure out who you're taking home tonight."
@ambivalenceshefelt
Between the sisters, in Nikki's mind, Zoe was the cool one. She was always down for a little mischief, or at least hyping Nikki up to be the wildchild she wanted to be. Oh the laugh Zoe would have if she knew Nikki wasn't enough of a delinquent even in her teens... "I plan to." she agreed, nodding. Hey hey hey, now this was a solid plan. "And that's why you're my hero!" Nikki laughed. "Speaking of annoyance..where is that wife of yours? Is she planning to annoy me on my birthday, being late?" she asked rolling her eyes a little. The question though wasn't the one she asked, but rather how were they doing. || @zoemanning

“Getting divorced at fifty-two was not on my bingo card, but neither was getting cheated on with a younger male receptionist and yet, here we are.” Cate has to laugh at her own suffering to avoid having a breakdown. And breakdowns were never good on your skin. She sips on her glass of wine, the most expensive bottle she could find at the winery in order to spend as much of Ben Cohen’s money before their divorced was finalized. “But that’s enough about my miseries. How has your year been, my dear? I feel like I’ve been babbling for ages about myself.” / @aspencreekextra

woah can i put my hand in there
-He slapped your hand away. Though he did it lightly because he's weak. blood dripped from his mouth and he coughed a little bit of blood before he spoke up in a rasp, weak tone. it was clear why he was weak..- "No, Simon. It would be uncomfortable for me and very weird. plus your hand would be bloody." -🍊💔

Derya giggled at that. "Nothing wrong with being a food snob, but how many places here live up to your standards?" She questioned curiously. "This is my first time in Aurora Bay so I'm kind of getting used to everything here, but if you're a snob, I guess I need to know which places you approve or disapprove of." After all, it wouldn't hurt to get someone else's opinion on which places to check out or avoid. She smiled as Mia talked about her younger sister, who sounded pretty precious. "So she's inquisitive and bossy? Nothing wrong there, and she's just making sure her food is served how she wants it. She might be my new hero." She teased.
As soon as the margaritas were put down on their table, Derya thanked the woman before she picked her glass up and took a sip, appreciating that the bartenders were still as heavy handed with the booze as the last time. "He's four, going on forty." She joked, though sometimes it did feel that way. "Sometimes I feel like he's parenting me, but that's why we moved here. I figured him having both moms in the same place again would help us both out. I'm not doing the single mom thing now, and I get to drink margs when he's with her."
@beautyxnthefire
"Call me a food snob." Mia said extending her arms to her sides "Cause I am" she offered. Dabbing a napkin to her lips, she chuckled. "Tina, my sister, is a total foodie." she explained "But she's the kind that wants to know everything going on and how it's happening, why you added this and that..and, for an eleven-year-old she's freakishly opinionated." she gushed. There were two people Mia loved talking about; her boyfriend and her sister. Color her ecstatic. "She will judge the cook so much he'll be questioning his life choices by the time she's done with him."
Waiting for the margaritas, Mia chuckled at the stories of the boy. "How old is he?" she asked. Was she slowly turning into —insert mental shiver— a mom? Taking care of Tina sure made her feel like that, not that the girl's dad was absent but, her sister was glued to her and holding on for dear life since their mom died. || @deryaxyilmaz

neyvin had never had a strong sense of self-preservation, of pragmatism, and of the end justifying the means. they were not foreign to the concept, of course - many people were prone to such thoughts and in truth, any sensible person who sought to survival ought to look to have a strong sense of all of this. but this fundamental sentient truth was thrown into disarray when it came to them. after all, neyvin had never seen survival as the end goal, not their own anyway.
that was why someone like rakatak fascinated him. first among all. it was a declaration, a staunch reminder of her presumed place: first among all. she was a paladin of bane. by all accounts, someone who neyvin should be at all odds with. yet, he never found much productivity came from being at odds with most (shadowheart was an exception -- and a very complicated one at that). and there was something admirable in the fact that rakatak was willing to put that survival above things like what he would expect from someone of devotion to bane.
"how do you feel about what seemingly waits at moonrise?" she asks the hobgoblin. neyvin was hardly someone who could judge anyone for being distracted within the shadow cursed lands, and when looking to moonrise towers specifically. but to see someone like rakatak who was someone so intently focused on the survival and making it through as fast as possible to remove these tadpoles distracted at all...it was worrisome.
"hope you can forgive any rudeness in asking this but..." a small hesitation, but neyvin takes a breath and looks over at rakatak. "you've been very... distracted, in a way that is not what i have come to expect from a warrior of your skill." there isn't judgement, in the words, and she truly means no ill will by them. the words are born out of concern -- an emotion that is reflected in her gaze.

HER MIND WAS REELING, after hearing him confirm he didn't regret meeting her. it wasn't something she expected him to say. given if he hadn't, if they'd simply stayed as acquaintances. they'd never be in this situation. he wouldn't have an ex who ran away with their child. and he sure as shit wouldn't have to protect said woman and kid. it left her reeling over the prospect of why. why didn't he regret any of it. but at the same time, she couldn't let her mind go down that path. ( it led to hope and hope was dangerous ! ) hope that somewhere in this truly fucked up scenario, the feelings they once shared. were still simmering like the flicker of a candle, waiting for the moment to once more. set on fire. as whilst those embers, still burned for her. she didn't know his scenario. as there was no way he was single. she knew him too well to believe that. thus she couldn't let hope linger. not when she was easily replaceable. and he no doubt had done, in the last five years.
she could feel her anxiety growing ━ at staying now. knowing she was no doubt making his life hell, as who wanted an ex around. no one she knew. and she spends the rest of the day, constantly scanning the area, as though looking for an exit. she's sure her bodyguard notices it, as he keeps shifting in whatever direction her eyes travel. and even for ten seconds it makes her laugh. but does nothing to escape her thoughts. to escape the feelings [ ... ] that where swallowing her whole. but she also knew she couldn't escape. it wasn't in the best interest for luca, if there truly was a threat. plus she knew how stubborn andrei was. he'd hunt her down if he needed. ( and wouldn't care if she was kicking and screaming either ! ) it was with that thought in mind. she simply went through her day. meeting those she could. AND GETTING LUCA SETTLED. but of course, her life was never easy. proven by her son. who right as she put him to bed, decided to ask the question, that payne was truly hoping she could avoid. but that was like asking for the sky not to rain. he was far too observant. and when mixed with both her and andrei's stubbornness, it meant her son wouldn't give up on knowing thr truth. not when she'd spent her life hiding nothing from him. and this was no different.
❛ fuck .... ❜ the words trailing off her lips and into the silent air, the only ear they caressing, being the one who was lingering down the corridor. taking a deep breathe, she knocks upon the large door. wondering if he was even locked behind it. given it was well past midnight. and mostly everyone else in the house was asleep. but she'd always been weird. working on hours that would make most, want to curl up in a ball and die. ( joys of having adhd she guessed ! ) hearing his voice call out, she heads inside, her eyes locking on him for a moment before looking elsewhere. her fingers idly messing with the edge of the shorts she was wearing. momentarily feeling insecure giving she was wearing only shorts and a sports bra. ALMOST LIKE SHE WAS THAT MORNING. still she ignores it. and places three pieces of paper in front of him. before moving to the other side of the room. leaning against the wall, placing distance between the two. ❛ figured you'd wanna check that over. given the delivery is coming tomorrow, as well as the potential teacher. so i can get luca back into school, and also get back to work .... ❜ her hand idly waving towards not only the documents regarding lucas schooling. she already knew the woman would need to be checked thoroughly. but also included was the $20,000 dollar receipt she'd spent on her work. her own personal bank had taken a hit but she had to keep busy, otherwise she'd go insane. and well, she wasn't about to take any of andrei's money. she never had. the money he sent was always used on luca's schooling. just like it had once more.
❛ also erm, luca asked who you were. so i told him everything. ❜ which wasn't much. as pretty much since he was old enough to understand, she had shown him picture of his father. she'd even taken the blame for why andrei wasn't there. luca knew, and she'd confirmed it tonight. that she had been the one to seperate father and son. and he shouldn't blame his father for it. that blame was payne's alone. ( and no one could change that fact ! ) fiddling with her shorts once more. she sighs before looking up at the ceiling, and then back down. ❛ he also overheard that we were here for safety. and asked why, so i told him that our house was unsafe and we were staying with you till it got sorted. ❜ which was the only lie she had told luca that night. but honestly the truth was not one, she thought her five year old would truly understand. not right now anyway. ❛ please, go along with it. i get that he's your son andrei, and this world is his. but please, let me protect his innocence whilst i can. he's too young to know. far too young. ❜ her eyes were practically begging. hoping he'd understand that, whilst she understood his world and his place in it. their sons innocence was one thing, she would not budge on. even if it got her killed. she'd protect that as long as she could.
This attitude had been deserved, he thought to himself. There was no insult at her reaction, even if the words hurt. It was all said with truth to an extent and how else was she going to react? He had uprooted her life, not by choice but by a possible threat to her and their son. None of that was how one would want to be brought back into the life they had tried so desperately to get away from. After all, there was so much anger no doubt building up inside her that it made sense he would be the target. In the end it was all his fault. He just couldn't let his own temper get to him as he knew it wouldn't help the situation in the slightest, only making it worse. So he bites his tongue and does what he needs to do to make sure they at least can have a temporary life here that didn't feel like a prison. And in his head, that meant keeping her at a distance. One that was safe and kept formal while their son, well, he wasn't sure how he was going to approach that. If the young boy didn't know then he was going to keep it that way at the possible request from his mother. All that he knew, right now, was they were safe and he intended to keep it that way. Them being here was his promise of that and Cass knew how that meant something to him, his word was law.
It was also what lead them here to this point. His word, leaving her a single parent it seemed. There was no husband or boyfriend, that much he knew, but it didn't mean there wasn't someone else. Andrei found it hard to believe there wasn't, he knew her and knew it was hard for others not to like her. At least in his mind. He at least knew he hadn't moved on and he was sure he never would, nights had been filed with meaningless hook ups to satisfy the urges and wants that came from being with someone but nothing beyond a night or two. Attachments, he had learned, were not for this life and it protected all involved. The harsh reality he accepted long ago, after all even she hadn't been originally someone he thought he'd be involved with in the long term. How much that had changed more than once. A reminder as the tour is ended, looking down at his own dog remembering the woman he had thought he'd spend his life with. A deep breath taken in at her words, his head shaking slightly. "No." It's all he says, thinking how she wasn't at fault here. It was him, she should be the one regretting meeting him. Andrei wasn't going to let that linger, wasn't going to let that be open for argument or discussion and it is why he moves on to the business he needed to get done. He would leave them with that, with the knowledge she needed to continue on for the day and without him.
And he'd been ready to move on, to walk away and leave them alone. The steps taken forward to move to his office only to then be stopped by her smaller form in front of him. His brow furrows a moment, looking down at her and growing only more confused as lips gently touch his cheek. A sensation not felt from her in a long time, but soon there's understanding as she gives an unexpected apology. "You don't have to apologize." Andrei answers as he clears his throat, almost going to say something else until he freezes upon hearing the full name of his son. The middle and last name almost a pair of daggers into his heart, his breath catching as eyes widened. Andrei isn't sure she catches it, just the feeling of her hand squeezing his before she's off to chase after him. He's left there alone for a moment, needing to gather himself before he steps forward again. Towards his office as he takes deep breath after deep breath, jaw tensing until he reaches the large dark wood doors and closes them behind him where he can be left alone to process the day but most importantly what he had just heard. Only when he finally let it all sink in as he laid upon the couch, did he eventually lift his frame up and move over to his desk to begin his work.

location: Erica's place in Fishers Cove
After weeks of Erica only sending her a few texts, nothing of any real substance or with an answer as to when she'd be coming home, it was safe to say that Zoe had had enough. Maybe it was the sea of emotions she'd found herself floating in every single day since her wife had just walked out on her, but the need to do something drastic to salvage what was left of her marriage had completely taken over. She'd been amazed at how quickly she'd been able to pack a few suitcases, take an extended leave from her job in Montana and land herself a temporary journalist position in town, and then knock out the roadtrip to Aurora Bay — but here she was.
While she should have given Erica a heads up first, she'd instead used her journalism skills to find out just where her wife was staying and drove straight there first. The sight of that stupid truck in the driveway only refueled her frustration, and further confirmed that popping up on her was the much better angle. Walking right up to the door, she decided against knocking and instead pulled out her tools, settling for just picking the lock and letting herself in so Erica couldn't try to slip out once she realized she had company. Zoe had done it so many times now that within seconds, she heard the familiar sound of the lock unlatching, and then she exhaled a deep breath as she walked inside. "Erica?" She called out, glancing around to see if she could spot the blonde right away. "Erica Manning, you can't run away from me forever, you know?" Maybe her tone was a little harsher now, but Zoe didn't care.

' what is this, like a hobby for you now? ' / obsessiveness seemed instinctive at this point; one little addiction traded for another, something to busy the hands. all addicts need a hobby, you've just got to replace one itch with another. you should take up knitting. that would be stupid, he thinks as he dismisses the thought, already squatting on the ground picking up another plastic bottle. into the plastic bag it goes alongside its brothers and sisters waiting to be turned into recycling for a few dollars spare change on the way home this evening.
resting on the backs of his legs, crouching in perfect accordance with the tone of the situation, harry casts a glance backwards over his shoulder at @excalibiur. his moustache bristling in the wind is a nice touch. he's judging you. prove to him this is totally normal. it is normal, it's just recycling. ❝ maybe . . . ❞ he admits, finally standing up, his prize in tow.
