I created a rune website

I have tried to write it from a modern Heathen approach, while still being based on actually historical information. It is split into two main parts:

The main part is my commentary on the Old English Rune Poem, and my attempts to contextualise the verses and interpret them in ways that can be meaningful today.

The other part gives a small bit of general background information about the runes and the poem, as well as talking through the history of runic divination and its Modern and largely racist roots (this is mostly based on the hard work by @thorraborinn, @mannazandwyrd and @obligate-rebel), and actual historic uses of runes in magic. I have also included some of my ideas about using runes for both divination and magic today (that isn’t just taken from Thorsson/List).

I have tried to take a somewhat different approach to what you find in most metaphysical sites/books you can get about runes today. I hope some of you find it useful!

A knotwork design of Yggdrasil that I drew. The runes on the end of the branches are the initials of the names of the Nine Worlds (although I used the Anglicised ON names but wrote them in OE runes, because that's how I roll).

The runes on the trunk are a prayer I wrote then translated into Old English (written boustrophedon style in OE runes).

Earlier I met Christian again by chance, which I was very happy about. So we threw all our plans up in smoke again and decided to rent a car. But since there were no (cheap) car rentals in Whangarei and the last bus back to Auckland had already left, we first went to the hostel recommended by Touriinfo. When we got up it was quite cold and we didn't really feel like diving yet. But our campground was also in the shade and when we arrived at the diving school the sun was already shining and warming us. All we had to do was register, show our diving ID cards and pay, that's all they wanted to see or know from us (otherwise they would have made more effort at this point). The transitions to sunlit areas are partly small caverns and the many archways are also worth seeing above the waterline. Diving and snorkeling are the best ways to explore the underwater world of the Poor Knights Islands. Various charter dive boat departures from Tutukaka Harbour, 30 kilometres from Whangarei. Tutukaka is located in a beautiful harbour, where boats depart for one of the most popular diving areas in the world, the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve. The islands themselves cannot be entered without a special permit, but you are allowed to dive off the coast in the marine reserve. Since the end of the 90s the entire marine area around the islands is completely protected and diving is only allowed with licensed diving centres. During the following break we see a large pack of bottlenose dolphins swimming past in some distance before we enter the water for the second time at Brady's Corner. This time I even get the chance to look at the many, many colourful fish swimming around in the kelp forests.
