loveee the thought of zuko as fire lord making his first diplomatic visit to the SWT and sokka taking FULL advantage of his and zuko’s friendship status to mortify his fellow council members and the general population of the south pole, as well as the fire lord himself.

like zuko will be chatting with some council members and sokka comes up and just starts roasting the fuck out of him. just saying shit like “who let you off the boat in THOSE shoes” to get a reaction out of the council members, who are making giant eyes at him like this is a professional visit where the fuck is your father to restrain you?!!!?

bato would be having an awkward conversation with zuko about resource allotments for the rebuilding effort and sokka needlessly throws in “did you know zuko sings to himself when he’s alone? he’s pretty good. give him a demo, zuko, come on,” and zuko’s grimacing because it was one fucking time sweet spirits sokka and bato is giving sokka the most embarrassed look of his life

sokka throws snowballs at zuko in the middle of the village and zuko falls over four consecutive times as a result.

for all his outward expressions of aggravation, it eventually becomes apparent to everyone that zuko isn’t too bothered by the teasing and sokka doesn’t mean anything by it, because every night they sit at the water’s edge and joke for hours.

Was thinking about Bato Of The Water Tribe, specifically the part where they're having dinner with him. Aang looks upset because he's left out of the conversation and nobody is trying to include him, and Sokka and Katara don't realize this because they're happy to see someone from their tribe, someone who they haven't seen in years. Add in the fact that they may have had the opportunity to see their father after so long, and you can see why they were so excited. Aside from the fact that Aang is upset because he's being ignored, I thought of another reason why he doesn't look particularly happy in that scene: Sokka and Katara are reunited with someone from their tribe, reminiscing about the fun times they had, listening to Bato's stories about their father, etc. All things that Aang can never have again because his people are gone. He's the last airbender left in the world. Sure, he can talk to Katara and Sokka about his past, but it's not the same as actually talking to another airbender with the same experiences as him.

Hakoda already has a headache just thinking about how exactly he’s supposed to interact with a fellow world leader who is also a teenager, and also dating his son, and wait--Sokka’s old enough for dating now? When did that happen?

To all the people who on my other longfics kept going 'wow, I cannot wait for the conversation with Hakoda about this one!' to which I kept going '…about that.' -- this one's for you :)

Y’all I have two points on a conspiracy theory board and I’m dangerously close to connecting them

This is Katara in Book 1 after they go ice dodging and she gets the “mark of the brave”

This is Katara in Book 3 as The Painted Lady (ecoterrorist queen)

I know the marks are slightly different but. When she got her mark in Book 1 it was painted on her, and in Book 3 she painted it on herself. I think there’s something to be said about how she could have thought the mark in Book 1 was more similar to her application bc she never actually saw it, only felt it being applied. Do we think there’s a connection here??

they’re somehow the opposite of the red lotus and yet the same. they all share a single bed/sleep area

i don’t ship any of these particularly and yet can still admit that it’s canon

ty-lee and azula have kissed bc azula probably made up a dumb excuse like ‘oh i don’t want my first kiss with a guy to be… erm… bad’

mai and ty-lee have kissed because they both probably have genuine, vaguely deep rooted romantic feelings for each other

mai and azula have kissed to purely spite zuko (and yknow what ty-lee too)

HOWEVER A KEY ASPECT TO THIS DYNAMIC: azula is completely unaware about the ty-lee and mai thing. it’s uh… better off that way.

Hakoda and Bato

i ship this about 50% but like… it’s got to have happened once right? considering all that down time they spent together on a boat away from the repercussions of water tribe society…

also considering they were leaders i doubt the other warriors were in a position to ever call them out on it

hakoda is where sokka gets his rizz/flagrant bisexuality from and i can’t change that guys
