Carol: I cleaned up. Wanted it to be nice for her. Daryl: For a second I thought I was in the wrong place. Carol: A flower? Daryl: It's a Cherokee rose. The story is that when American soldiers were moving Indians off their land on the Trail of Tears, the Cherokee mothers were grieving and crying so much, 'cause they were losing their little ones along the way from exposure and disease and starvation. A lot of them just disappeared. So the elders, they, uh, said a prayer, asked for a sign to uplift the mothers' spirits, give them strength and hope. The next day this rose started to grow right where the mothers' tears fell. I'm not fool enough to... Think there's any flowers blooming for my brother. But I... I believe this one... Bloomed for your little girl. She's gonna really like it in here.

It kills me. She lied to Ash about going to France to find Sophia, to find Daryl, little did she know she really would find Sophia there…and get a semblance of closure on her trauma. She finally got to remember her daughter’s face before she turned, and she finally got to hold her girl again.

Jason Todd accidentally enters into the TWD universe, but he is immune to the zombie virus and the walkers only see him as one of them, so they don't even try to attack him. He thinks it's funny to pretend and sacrifice himself to let other escape, but in reality he just got tired of his group and pretending to be dead is better than dealing with the whole "we shouldn't separate! We may be humanities last hope"

He also rescues Sophia bc he can, and becomes the ultimate "girl dad" until he can reunite Sophia and Carol back, he gets tired of the drama in the group soon after and pretends to die again.

Daryl: It ain't the mountains of Tibet. It's Georgia. She could be holed up in a farmhouse somewhere. People get lost and they survive. It happens all the time. Andrea: She's only 12. Daryl: Hell, I was younger than her and I got lost. Nine days in the woods eating berries, wiping my ass with poison oak. Andrea: They found you...? Daryl: My old man was off on a bender with some waitress. Merle was doing another stint in juvie. Didn't even know I was gone. I made my way back though. Went straight into the kitchen and made myself a sandwich. No worse for wear. Except my ass itched something awful. [Andrea laughs] Andrea: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, that is a terrible story. Daryl: Only difference is Sophia's got people looking for her. I call that an advantage.

This issue had some of my favorite Sophia panels. The growth and character development from issue #41 up until now is great to see, and (occasionally) Kirkman was great at showing character development even in side characters.
