Kanzaki Iori's song "Bukiyōna Otoko" ("Clumsy man") fits Kondo a lot.

CHARACTER SHEETS DROPPED
Best girl Ehwa looking great!
Wangnan is voiced by Yuuma Uchida, who voiced Kyo from Fruits Basket, Megumi from Jujutsu Kaisen, and Aslan from Banana Fish
Ehwa is voiced by Sayumi Watabe, who voiced multiple characters in Touhou LostWorld and Akira from KoiAme. Relatively new actress
Guess that means the game VA’s and anime VA’s will be different

Me starting Kowloon Generic Romance because it’s described as “romance in a gentle dystopia” and I enjoyed the author’s previous slice of life work:

first koiame read we were akira, second read’s we were kondo.
weird name i know but just go with it. so recently koiame’s been on my hyperfix brain again (as per usual) and anyone whose read it knows how it ends, shooketh the whole ...twenty or less people in the fandom who caught wind of it. shooketh myself as well when finally able to read it, left me sad, hopin maybe a distant future it could happen.
then i started re-reading some of it this year, and lookin back now, it’s almost obvious the series ended this way. everything in the series leads to the spiral that was the ending chaps of the series.
what i find intriguing is we all thought like akira thinking it would end with her and kondo somehow able to continue a future together without anything in their way...but it didn’t. looking back there were always signs, from akira wanting to keep her running shoes, to saying she felt ‘lonely’ in chapter 69 when talking to kondo, how she always states she loves running and wants to run but is pulling herself back thinking the answer to her problems is kondo who’ll be the reason she doesn’t try again.
when ya look at it, it’s kinda close to season 1 of aggretsuko, thinking any ol relationship will get her outta the job and learning a relationship needs more then just someone to marry, it’s someone to have that common bond with. akira’s bond with kondo only went so far, but in the end it was all platonic. closest thing they ever done is hug and hallucinate the other in imagination spots believing the other to be the piece missing in them both when the piece their missing is the ones they think won’t bring them the happiness they want but end up getting.
they never even acted on these impulses of furthering the relationship besides going on a couple outings together, even then they have to keep a low profile due to such a gap, but even if that weren’t an issue hypothetically neither knows what to do. this was akira’s first crush, and kondo’s from the looks of it first time being with anyone after his divorce of an unknown amount of time. they were denying themselves what truly made them happy to think that a relationship could fix it, which shows in series it wouldnt’ve.
there’s also the outside stuff too for starters, there was the age gap which if found out could get both in trouble. akira from her family and school life to kondo’s shared custody of yuuto with his ex-wife and his role as manager in a family friendly restaraunt which when looking back makes just both knowing bout the crush and kase and haruka knowing bout em the straw that could’ve broken all the camels.
infact the series definietly had everyone expecting something, we expected yoshizawa and yui to get together, and nothing happened and the opposite ended up happening. yet both found (some sort of) satisfaction from it not happening from yui getting to further herself in becoming a hair dresser to yoshizawa’s...albeit uncertain ending but it makes sense as he was the type who couldn’t seem to get himself together.
by the end of the series though it did show an interesting way of showing the not always sad side of a romance not happening, and re-finding your spark and happiness in other things whilst thanks to the experience of trying to gain a closer bond with someone even when it went nowhere.
(idk take this all with a random chick who thinks to long on an 82 chapter long story. also *cough cough*#akiratachibanaxakira(sui)machidashouldbeathing2020*cough*)
