Hey BMCers what do we think jeremy/michael/christine’s anime opinions r. It seems p reasonable 2 assume Jerry is a pretty big anime fan (I mean “sexy anime female” had 2 b based on smth) but what kind of anime u think he watches specifically? I’ve seen some fan stuff in which he likes mech stuff like gundam/evangelion which is v real v good v true, defo feel that esp with his interest in space and tech stuff. Super cutesy stuff a la My Melody also makes sense considering Hello Kitty shoes but I feel like that would only b an interest he rly explores after canon, when he’s mellowed out a bit n stopped caring about being a Dudely Dude. Jeremy Heere #1 Sanrio Danshi fan. I also been thinking bout Jeremy watching those shitty dime-a-dozen Cute Girls With Swords sci-fi/fantasy harem anime, ykwim? Asterisk War, Irregular At Magic High School, In Another World With My Smartphone,,,,, other one idk my anime knowledge is pretty dated at this point but u know what I mean!!! The real trash ones. THATS what bestie j-dawg is into. It’d b funny if part of his perception of what a “cool hot masculine guy” is like (plus some of his hang-ups with women) comes at least in part from those types of shows. My main hang-up with that tho is deciding if I think he would pretend to like them ironically or just assume watching anime makes him lame either way n deal w/ it. Hmmmm choices choices…

Michael n Christine r more interesting to me bc they’re not explicitly into anime like jerry is but they’re both enough of Weird Artsy Fartsy ppl that they could get into it. Michael’d b into the more retro stuff obvi, n prolly the more like ~experimental~ n ~avant-garde~ shit too. Defo Evangelion, Akira n Ghost In The Shell seem right to me… Serial Experiments Lain jumps out as one he’d b into, plus Kaiba but that’s more recent (aka after the turn of the century lol). The Freaky Deaky shit, that’s his M.O.

and finally… Christine. When I think of Christine, I think of Samurai Pizza Cats. And that’s it. I really cannot explain that, but it’s how I feel. Good talk!

i fear i’m thinking about horrortale sans and undyne again. what a shakespeare-level deadly miscommunication, what a tragicomic mess. her taking his eye. killing him. killing that version of him, that version of herself. now they’re matching corpses, each with one bloodshot eye. they’re both responsible for so much, too much, it’s eating them alive and they resent it. they’re violent, selfish, and more than a little sadistic. they’re too similar to ever be friends, but they used to be. they used to be.

I love seeing posts of the BMC kids—specifically Michael—using social media like insta/snapchat/tiktok/etc. bc it’s like “oh dumb teens doing dumb teen stuff that’s cute” but I have to be real w/ myself n admit that I genuinely believe Michael has never so much as touched any of those apps. I honestly think even tumblr is too mainstream for him. U could make a pretty solid case that he has the energy of a discord user and MAYBE reddit but, to me, Michael Mell spends most of his online existence on MMORPGs or old fucking chat forums and message boards, AOL-style. I imagine most of the ppl on these forums r adults n Michael is often the youngest one there by a looooooong shot. Jeremy and Michael’s moms stage an intervention in freshman year saying “It’s Weird That You Talk To Exclusively Older Ppl Online” n Mike’s like “nah they’re chill there’s this guy named Randy he has a son about our age he introduced us n now we play Warcraft together it’s a good time”. Michael’s moms forbid him from meeting any of the forum ppl in-person without supervision n he’s like “yeah that’s prolly 4 the best we’ve tried to meet as a group a few times b4 but they’re all Medical Equipment Techs (all of them) so they’re all busy w/ work :(“

HOWDY MEREMINERS!!!! As my personal bmc renaissance has swept thru my brain like the tornado that took Dorothy to Oz, it has also like Dorothy picked me up and plopped me deep into M(eremine)unchkinland (I’m both Kansas and Dorothy in this metaphor, keep up!). Whenever I get rlyrlyrlyrly obsessed with smth, I tend to want to theme all aspects of my life around, to varying (silly) degrees. This includes me looking for/creating hyperspecific playlists yes yes ur on tumblr u know how fandom works. What I’m trying to say is that I looked on Spotify for meremine playlists and shock! Horror! Scream! Nothing. It was an empty void, no silly lil musical polycules in sight. My heart was broken. My dreams were dashed. But then I realized. I have a Spotify account. I have music taste. I have a brain that draws elaborate and often nonsensical parallels!! I can make a meremine playlist!!! So I did. And that’s what this is. Wahoo!

I was gonna do a whole bullet point break-down of why I chose each song but as I was typing it out it kept sounding more and more red-yarn corkboard and every so slightly Completely Unhinged so uh. Scrapped that!! But I do wanna say that the very first song (karaoke by smallpools) is a reference for the GOAT, the myth, the legend, my favorite meremine fic as well as my favorite bmc fic ever !! OF ALL TIME !! we’ll pass the mic around by @some-silver-reply !! Such an incredible characterization of all three of them I think about it all the time I love it so much but don’t wanna spoil anything so if u care about meremine at all read it I BEG (it does have explicit sex in it tho so keep that in mind if that makes u feel some type of way)!!! This fic has sustained me thru many a meremine-brain-wormed sleepless night and this playlist would have died in the dark cavities of my mindscape without it <3. As part of the ~ miku festivities~ I made a collage!! I wanted it to look chaotic and somewhat childlike because vocaloid is such a nostalgic thing for me and I wanted to show that off!!! I had tons of fun making this n hope y’all like it too 😘😘😘

I spent way longer than I should have pondering whether or not I should only have the perky party-type miku songs but then decided “u know what??? I’ve been thinking about how being a stage production adds so much to be more chill… there’s a bit in Two River at the end of two player game where they’re transitioning between the Video Game Basement to the mall and they’re setting up the furniture in the background. And as they move from song to dialogue Jeremy and Micheal are dancing on the chairs for the mall set as they finish the song and it’s so silly and joyful and a cute lil meta joke that only exists thru playing with the constraints of doing a live performance and it reminds me of why I love musical theatre and I just :,,,,,,) It makes me think about, in the fiction of the story, Micheal and Jeremy listening to music together. Putting on one of Michael’s stupid vinyls and dancing on chairs and being goofy, some of the only moments Jeremy isn’t “hunched over and scared all the time”, some of the only moments he feels comfortable in his body… It’s such a small moment (it’s cut out of the bway ver entirely bc the sliding scene transitions wouldn’t allow for it) but it’s so sweet and I’m. Just. THINKING ABOUT IT.

one of my (many) favorite things about Barry being a dick when he’s first introduced is that like. He is totally a fridged wife guy. He’s a fighter and a bodyguard for hire. He’s brooding and shitty and traumatized and ~too damaged to make friends~ (and then dies horribly oops). HIS WIFE IS LITERALLY DEAD. but like he also. Isn’t that. He’s literally called The Lover. He blushes when he drops his glasses and the woman he likes gives them back to him. He’s lactose intolerant. He doesn’t know how to swim until Taako teaches him. He makes hot chocolate for Lup while she schemes. His wife is also not dead !!!! (I mean, she is but how much does death rly mean in taz? plus they’re not even technically married but how much does marriage rly mean in taz?) He’s basically that one post about an angsty dude and everybody assumes his wife died tragically but then u find out she’s actually fine and he just rly missed her and is actually pretty normal when she’s around. I know I’m not saying anything about him that has not been said before but sometimes I just. I’m struck by him

Idk I haven’t played soj in a while but do u think like. rayfa has heard of klavier. Like, she knows of him or is vaguely aware of who he is. Klavier seems pretty internationally famous considering his collab w/ Borginians n Europop persona n stuff. Maybe he’s visited khura’in. Has capcom said that he hasn’t??? I doubt it. Imagine Rayfa has heard of him in passing or smth but doesn’t rly care but then hears that her stupid brother and stupid horn head (who is kinda also her brother? it’s complicated) knows this internationally famous guy and she like, sneaks online somehow and googles this guy and watches his shit and she… doesn’t hate it. Maybe she listens to another song. And another. And she’s already here so she might as well listen to the whole album and maybe the next one and

This has probably been said before more cohesively but I’ve been listening to Alice Isn’t Dead and thinking about Jess, chunk, and the road trip to infinity (a book I liked in middle school but have complicated feelings about now) and about road trip stories and specifically (but not exclusively) queer road trip stories and about how they r (in my experience) either coming-of-age stories or horror stories and how those genres might not be as different as I used to think so. anyway comment like subscribe hmu in like 12 years n I’ll have a banger fucking dissertation for ya

ok so this is probably the only non-reblog tumblr post i’ll ever make in the entirety of my natural life but if the world goes on w/o knowing anything about mirai komachi I will BURST.

Mirai Komachi is this vocaloid (see below) made for the VOCALOID4 engine by Bandai Namco Studios, a Japanese video game development company that is a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Entertainment which ITSELF is a subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings ANYWAY

from what i can gather she was kind of an accident? the vocaloid wiki describes her as an “experimental female vocal not originally meant for commercial release” which to me implies “accident”. either way they made this vocaloid n then just. released her. No announcement, no advertising, nothing. “come get y’all orange juice”, Bandai Namco said. And, unsurprisingly, very few people did. mirai komachi is a relatively obscure vocaloid, even (from what i can tell PLZ correct me if i’m wrong) in the jp community and ESPECIALLY in the english community. Minnemi’s “Every VOCALOID Described In One Word” video give mirai komachi the word “who?”. She’s not even mentioned on her parent company’s wikipedia page. only the most completionist of the completionist vocaloid nerds (me) even rly know of her existence, much less her lore. 

yeah thats right her lore. this girlie has lore!!! her origin is that this doctor guy named Hakase (yeah they have names n everything) was doing some kind of experiment that got fucked up so explosion BOOM mirai komachi appears (BTW “mirai komachi” is her name. Like, the whole thing. komachi is written in kanji while mirai is written in katakana which implies mirai is the given name and it’s just written in the western order but her website refers to her explicitly as Mirai Komachi and in an email Bandai Namco stated that mirai is neither her given or family name. Technically in most official english source material they refer to her as MiraiKomachi. weird). after she appeared in the explosion she became a researcher at Bandai Namco studios women in stem girlboss. anyway Hakase n these little robots he made r considered her sidekicks n they have a whole lil comic series of their misadventures that I CANNOT find any english translations of and it kills me. 

but either way my point is considering her lack of popularity its kind of wild how much content there is of her???? she has a youtube page w/ a bunch of original songs, almost all of which have official english subtitles and are on spotify (which is pretty rare for lesser known vocaloids n if they r there they r certainly hard 2 find). the official MiraiKomachi website is super well made and has a bunch of illustrations, an official mirai komachi 3d model, and the comics i mentioned earlier. she’s been on a bunch of japanese public transport stuff (which isnt that uncommon 4 jp vocaloids) n has this absurd but cute video collaboration with Jammu like. shes there!! shes got stuff!!!

(this whole post is rly just a manifestation of the fact that vocaloid is a very international multilingual community n the nature of very international multilingual communities is every once in a while u will stumble across an aspect of this community that u r theoretically “part of” that is completely in a language that u dont speak or in a physical location that u cannot access n ur just like “huh. there are entire aspects of this thing i care about that i will never fully understand and subcommunities that i will rarely ever interact with even if i spend actual years obsessing over that thing.” this has been existential fandom hour brought to you by staring too long at the vocaloid wikis)
