hilary rambling please bear with me.
so. I had the chance to hear her live in concert and she was absolutely brilliant, it was honestly a life-changing experience. her nuance and sensitivity while maintaining such a clear and present tone throughout the whole piece was just unbelievable. second to none. I'm still awestruck. now. she played mozart 5, and I'm the first person to say that I often thought that her mozart interpretation maybe wasn't for me because she sustains the notes so much that the sound becomes too heavy and thick for my taste. but. the thing is it works live. it mixes perfectly with the orchestra and doesn't sound thick at all! I think the recordings are maybe doing her a disservice there. I think she knows exactly what she is doing and how the sound will reach a live audience. her interpretation to me didn't sound romantic and heavy but rather energetic and driven. I absolutely adored every minute. (as an encore she played the bach sarabande that everyone plays but of course she did it masterfully with incredible lightness and the most delicate dynamics, just stunning)
#i love her your honor#idk why this was so important to me#i just was honestly a little bit sceptical of her mozart#but yeah if you ever get the chance to hear her perform live do it it's so worth it i promise#hilary hahn

best way to figure out of your a and d string really are tuned perfectly: play the opening of the bach d minor sarabande because then you will hear if they are I promise you will notice
#i'll play the opening chord minutes after tuning and every time it's a little bit off i swear#it makes me listen more closely somehow
