Synesthesia moment #9
Seeing some random thing that is in the WRONG color and having to just be silent and try to avoid looking at it while internally rocking back and forth in the fetal position.

Now that you mention it, yeah that's true for me too.
Question for other grapheme color synesthetes
So I’ve noticed that my colors are a lot less strong when the letters/numbers are on a screen as opposed to written down on a physical piece of paper and I wanted to know if that’s just me or it’s a common thing?

Just throwing this out here
Anyone with Synesthesia, with what research I’ve managed to find on the subject, the best analogy my brain can come up with as someone without synesthesia is, like.
Reading a book. In a foreign language. That you are mostly competent in.
Like.
You see the words, and you recognize that they’re in another language. They are a thing. And then your brain translates it to your native language. So you register the original thing, but your brain translates it to a different thing.
Is that. Is that accurate in any way, or?
Sorry if I’m explaining this badly, It’s like 11:00 at night.
Please help a desperate writer and neurology nerd out here.

Poorly phrased tips for handling mirror touch synesthesia
If you’re looking at something painful or uncomfy, think of something that isn’t that, like a favorite song or a more pleasant physical sensation, or look away entirely. If you’re not thinking about it, it’s not happening.
It’s okay to express that you’re in pain. If you don’t, it may lead to repression of emotion in the future and soon you won’t be able to express pain at all, and that’s not good. This is not to say scream in a movie theater whenever there’s a fight scene, refer to point one.
Physically hurting someone is really inefficient because while the other person might get hurt, you will get hurt too. Don’t do it. Actually, don’t get into any fights at all. Don’t even watch them. If anything, try to break them up, but in a way that doesn’t get you punched.
Some people, when learning that you have MTS, will do various things to themselves like poking theirself and saying “can you feel that?” Don’t talk to those people. Be careful when you tell people about your MTS.
That’s all I can think of at the moment, feel free to add more! Good luck out there!
