The night was icy, the sky sparkling with stars and Adahlen’s arms pulled at the thick fabric resting on her shoulders. She had asked if it was possible to acquire some cloaks, seeing as she was did not enjoy the frigid air as much as most people did. Most people were used to it, she never had. She blamed it on her fire magic, and the fact that the cold temperature weakened her, so she tried to stay as warm as she possibly could at all times. 

Now she needed some fresh air, it had been a long day of doing this and that, talking to humans, saving people and things that needed to be saved, as well as closing rifts. It had taken a small toll on her body, and she needed to rest. She would have waiting until the sun rose, however she had time now to finally do something so she took advantage of it. She heard Solas fretting over Cole not too long ago, he had hurt himself. Why would someone pick to be more human, of all things? She would never understand that, it was not her business however. If Cole was content to be that way, then who was she to judge him? 

‘Cole, da’len. You’re going to drive Solas mad, we will never hear the end of it, if you accidentally harm yourself or got sick.” Her smile was unusually warm, not because she was incapable, but because she had grown very fond of Cole in the short time he’d been around. She did prefer him as a spirit, of course, even when he would disappear, or say such cryptic things.  Adahlen liked spirits, they had one goal and you knew it. As much as she loathed demons, they too had a purpose to fill. “How are you enjoying being more human?” She watched the mop of golden curls move about the boy’s face, he seemed different yet the same. He was happy though, and that was all that mattered. 

Cole stiffened before looking over his shoulder to find the owner of the voice. “Adahlen,” he said in a breathy manner, relief in his eyes. The more human he became and the more weighed down by his memories he grew, the more he was disinclined to be around people. The inner circle comforted him but it had become quite clear that he shied away from touch and company of most strangers- or even acquaintances. He didn’t shy away from Adahlen, however, instead turning to face her more properly, his feet dangling just a few inches from the walk way. “Do not worry. I have learned my lesson- faltering, falling, I fell to pieces but I am whole now.” He hopped off of the wall to land on the foot that had been broken as if to prove his point before coming closer to her. He offered her a smile though it was a ghost of what it could been.

“It is hard. But- it is also easier than it could be. Varric had a bed for me brought to his rooms and Krem is making sure I’m eating on time.” He had always eaten but... Now it was apparent he needed to eat more often than one meal every few days. He wetted his lips and folded his arms, not cold in the least despite the chill in the air. “Though... Madame de Fer wants me to take magic lessons... and Varric wants me to learn letters. Everything swims still and I just want to help- and sleep.”
