Danny watched quietly as the on-set nurse wrapped his ankle. It was just a sprain this time, injured by a dumb move—which for the record, won them the mission—while filming a variety show. His manager was going to kill him, but he’d deal with that later. Danny looked over to the nurses’ tent’s other occupant, Ilhoon.
"What are you in for?” Danny asked, smiling at his own joke.

@syfchaerin
“I, uh, heard you’re having a comeback soon,” Danny said, scratching the back of his neck. He stood by the craft services table for the variety show he and Chaerin happened to be guests on.
Chaerin first came onto Danny’s radar in 2019. She recorded one of his first songs published under his pseudonym d.NA. Impressed with her vocals, Danny did some research whereupon he found her own writing credits. She was a writer, like him. It was the start of an unspoken, one-sided kinship he felt. He even sent her a congratulatory wreath from d.NA when she debuted. But that was d.NA. He was Danny. There was no way for Chaerin to know the connection between the two. So, Danny tried his best to just come off as a friendly sunbae.
“Do you, um — I mean, I know you’re a writer. Did you do any writing for the album? Because that’s cool.”

Out of all the people in his friend circle to find him here, Danny was actually a pretty good option. That said he was also a bad option, as the embarrassment Yun was feeling was now cranked up to eleven. Raising a finger to his lips, Yun made a too loud, aggressive mixture between a hiss and shush. “I’m hiding!” he mouthed-whispered towards the other idol, and then grimaced. “Trying to at least.” Subtlety had never been one of his strengths.
Without thinking (not that he ever seemed to do much of of that) Danny crouched down next to Yun. He turned to face the older idol, only to belatedly realize exactly how close they were, faces just centimeters apart. Danny gulped. He wasn’t sure why.
“Who, um,” Danny began to whisper. His eyes couldn’t pick a spot to focus, darting between Yun’s eyes, and, oddly, his lips. He could feel a flush start to form on his cheeks and hoped Yun woulnd’t notice. “Who are we hiding from?”

Jia wondered if the ground could just swallow her whole or if the rapture could just happen now. She didn’t care where she went, just as long as it got her away from here. He probably regretted it. That was the only explanation for how he left. Admittedly, she had no other basis for comparison. Maybe this was normal for a one-night stand. Maybe that really was all it was.
“I have just been rehearsing. You know, for the comeback. And that song I told you about. The lyrics are really good.” Jia started blushing as she realized the similarity to their last conversation. The exact same talk that had ended up with them in bed. Danny was really into d.NA. Was that his mood music? “I, um, wanted to make sure the choreography worked well with it.”
Jia shifted between one foot and another. Where was Bobby when she needed him? At the very least, his eccentricities could provide a distraction. "How about you, Daewon?” She suddenly slipped into what she called him that night and the blush spread even farther. Somehow, even though it was just his name, it felt more personal than calling him Danny. “Have you been… okay?”
A flush bloomed up the back of Danny’s neck all the way to his ears at the sound of Jia’s praise. It wasn’t for him—well, it was, but she didn’t know that—but that made it even more impactful. It wasn’t empty praise. Not that Jia was the type of that, but his anonymity meant Danny knew she wasn’t just saying that to be kind. His writing was the thing Danny felt most proud of and Jia’s words pulled at his heart in the same compelling way they had that night. Danny felt lucky he was sober. Otherwise, he would probably do something equally ill-advised. Maybe he would anyway.
“I’ve-I’ve been fine. I mean good, yeah, great even. Totally awesome.” Danny fumbled his way forward. He always seemed to lose control of his mouth when he was nervous. Jia certainly made him nervous. “You’ve, been, uh, working on your comeback? That’s cool, that’s cool... I can’t wait to see what you do with it. The choreo and stuff. Since you, uh, like the lyrics, you know. That’s why. No other reason.”

Danny checked his set up one last time. Yup, good to go. With one mouse click, he was live. Danny’s streaming schedule was irregular, but in between his constant idol activities, he had managed to pick up a decent following of FLOW and general gamers alike. Today, he had something special planned. It would hopefully make up for his particularly long absence.
“Alright guys,” Danny said, clapping his hands together, smile wide. “Welcome to the stream! It know it’s been a minute, but I’m back and better than ever! Today, we’re going to play some League, a classic, with a very special guest.”

@syfmingxia
Cameras rolled as Danny flashed a nervous, toothy smile. Something about Mingxia always made Danny feel a little bit jittery. It was unfortunate because Danny always hoped they’d become at least a little bit friendly. Maybe this was his chance. The producers of this variety show, fully aware that Danny was proficient in Mandarin, paired the two of them together for a mission. They had to participate in a scavenger hunt, following clues and avoiding other teams.
“Ah, maybe we should start here,” Danny said pointing to a spot on the map they’d been given

"Hyung...” Danny said, voice full of uncharacteristic trepidation. He stepped backwards, face scrunched into a wince. “I don’t know about this.”

Even after several years, Yun still didn’t expect people to recognize him without make-up. With most of his face covered by a mask, what about him was even recognizable? Something apparently as he had had to make a quick getaway as he’d spotted people taking photos of him. Thus he was currently squatting awkwardly behind a rack of clothes, praying to his ancestor that they had lost him.
Danny’s terrible fashion sense and general lack of taste meant he rarely frequented high end shops such as this one. But it was almost his dad’s birthday. After last year’s fiasco, he needed some professional opinions on what to get him. Danny absentmindedly flipped through the racks while he waited for the salesperson to come back when he saw something from the corner of his eye that made him do a double take.
“Hyung?” Danny questioned, hand still grasping something silk. “Yun hyung, is that you?”

it’s in his dna
@syfdanny
Jia was not exactly sure how she had ended up in this situation. Not that long ago, her only real connection to Danny had been a cameo she had done with EBB. Yes, they had gotten along and had bonded casually since then. But, after showing him that decent piña coladas could be made in Korea if you were properly motivated, she had started talking about her first mini album.
After a few more drinks (which she had only managed to mix because she snuck behind the open bar), she had clapped her hands excitedly and told Danny about how they had even managed to get one of her favorite song writers for the Korean single. She had gushed to him, only for Danny to kiss her midsentence. Then a lot more.
They had both been avoiding each other since then. The one place Jia thought she would be safe was the Orion building. But, apparently this was not the case. She had turned the corner and had accidentally slammed into someone. She apologized and managed to stutter something out.
“Danny… What are you doing here?”
What are you doing here? That was a question Danny encountered frequently. From his teachers, his manager, his members... Somehow it seemed so much worse spilling from the lips of the last girl he’d spent the night with. It stung of the embarrassment he felt the next morning, running away from the consequences of his drunken actions with a now buttonless button-up and rope burns on his wrists.
“I, um, well—” Danny could barely manage to form words. Of course, he had a perfectly legitimate reason to be at the Orion building. His managers wanted him to do a variety appearance with Bobby. They thought it was an organic match. So much chaos could only result in entertaining television. Danny had come along to the meeting discuss the logistics so he could meet Bobby. Just to meet Bobby. No other reason. There wasn’t a beautiful girl he was hoping, but not hoping, to run into.
“Uh, you know,” Danny said with a shrug and a shakey voice. “Just... hanging out. How are you, I mean, what are you doing here? Or like, up to? Things been... good?”
He cringed as soon as the words left his lips. If there was a cliff available for him to jump off, he’d do it in a heartbeat, just to get away from this situation. He was an idiot. He knew it, and Jia must have too.
