"Isn't it the case that this investigation missed key opportunities and failed to examine leads because it was compromised by your personal liaison with DI Hardy?" → close up shot of Hardy

Does anyone ever think about
the deleted scene in S2 where they brought Brian in court, and when he denied having an affair with Ellie, Joe looked at Hardy?

Much Ado About Catherine Tate (20 Aug 11 matinee)
Boy oh boy. I know I always say that I love going to my favourite shows repeatedly to see how things change in between shows. Both in terms of subtle changes to an actor’s performance or line delivery (or in a musical, a different riff or belty note) but also for little fluff-ups. The way David once upset a drink all over the table during one scene and yelled SORRY! as he exited the stage, for instance.
But this entire performance of Much Ado was that way - and I wish it hadn’t been because omigod. Poor Catherine. Steve, the lovely man who handles stage door duties for the theatre, said after the performance that she wasn’t sick, just tired and having to stay in between shows to rehearse due to technical problems with the pulley system that usually hoists her sky-high two-thirds of the way through Act I. But I was in the third row at that show (which I know pretty darn well by now) and I’m quite sure Catherine was under the weather.
I’ll post all the details of the performance under the cut but I just needed to say that, after seeing this show, I’m more than ever a fan of this woman and her professionalism and talent. She was legit unwell, I personally have no doubt about that, but she soldiered on through the entire performance anyway. I swear to god she was still amazing, and still heartbreaking, and still devastatingly funny, however poorly she must have been feeling. Ugh she is the best and I am in awe of her forever.
