4th Blog: Final Pitching and Final Project

The team have prepared for the pitching for about 1-2 days, it was rough because of things loading up. We were very busy because of the upcoming case presentation of one of our major subjects and most of us didn't get to sleep because of the preparation, thus we spliced our task of one another for the preparation for the pitching.   Some of my team mates didn't get to do their part so I have to cover for it. The team had some disappointments during the pitching. I was confident that everything would be fine, and everyone on the team was prepared. But I was wrong, the team's pushing who is going to report or talk first, thus I talked first and I didn't realize that I was just talking the presentation like reporting it, because I'm so tired, I feel like I was there but not there and also I was nervous and my other group mates were doing nothing. Earlier that day, I help my other 2 group mates to finish our power point quickly, so I multitasked to do our case manuscript as well as to prepare for the final pitching.

Our professor was really disappointed and made comments on our pitching so one of my team mates talk to our professor that hoping she will give us a second chance to redeem our group and he will be the only one who was going to persuade the investors. Successfully, he was able to persuade them but there were errors about our product, the team asked too much money for a start up and didn't calculate the profit if we going to actually sell the product. I was really disappointed of my team and to myself too because I realized that give my very best to pitch our product but its still not enough but also happy at the same time, since it was done. Thus, I learned that it is really important for us to be prepared on time to avoid cramming of activities but still I realized that no matter how much I manage my time there were circumstances that I can't control.

For our Final Project I directed the team on what they are going to do, provide what scenario on what we are going to do and edited our video. I can say our team may lack a bit of unity and members are not that cooperative. Some of them are really hard to persuade to participate in the said activity but luckily I was able to tell them that they should do their part since they were very essential to make this project be successful. Thus the team decided at first to do a raw video where it is like an advertisement but in the end the team decided to do an animated video presentation for the product for it is feasible, and also time bounded for us. I learned that Team work makes the Dream work. Because still without my team we will not be able to accomplish this final project.

3RD BLOG: IMPORTANT LEARNINGS

In order to establish high criteria for the suggested product, the team started deliberating and making decisions throughout the allotted time. Even with our busy schedules and status as student nurses, the team was able to use the solution to address the issue. Introducing them to the concept of entrepreneurship surely motivated us to work harder.

The team continue to validate the product through responders. Every week, two college students were singled out for attempting to keep their hair up in a bun. The number of respondents who stated during the interviews and responses from respondents that they would find the product helpful in carrying out their occupations, partaking in activities, visiting events, etc., thrilled the team. The team used visual aids to convey ideas about our product to the target market.

The project hypotheses put out by the group are as follows:

Null Hypothesis The daily activities of the students, faculty, and residents at the CMU are not much impacted by the sleek & style environment there.

Alternative Hypothesis Sleek & style interiors at CMU have a big impact on how students, faculty, and residents go about their everyday lives.

Although there are several ways to do hypothesis testing, my group decided to employ an interview via face to face and through social media chats since it appeared the most sensible. An interview with students, faculty, and residents inside the CMU was conducted to ascertain if the project is essential to develop as well as to anticipate its feasibility and suitability to the environment in general and to the people who would benefit from it in particular. Fortunately, nearly everyone we talked to agreed with the project's premise. One participant said, "Nice lagi na, buhata na ninyo ba kay murag puslan kaayo siya sa among course" and another one said " sudlay is layp gud pero more lifer ang hair gel gud". Thus, our group was driven to continue with the project and make a big transformation at Central Mindanao University.

Even though throughout the activity, the group may have encountered difficulties in finding respondents, gladly we were able to finish it on time and present it on our final pitching.

During the lecture series, I discovered that there were several chances available to me, particularly as a student. I also discovered that the government is gradually coming to recognize the importance of entrepreneurship since it may significantly boost the nation's economy. I also learnt about the many sorts of pitching, the factors that investors consider, and how we should approach possible investors. I came to the conclusion that having the right mentality is necessary for being a successful entrepreneur. And we need to keep going and push over our limitations if we want to see our business prosper. Finally, I learn about the various types of intellectual property and how to protect my rights.

2nd BLOG ENTREPRENURIAL MIND

In the previous weeks the team decided to change our first product which is a decaf corn coffee to a modified sleek stick with comb, there were several options the team suggested and these are the following: first is the 3 in 1 highlighter where in you can change the color of your highlighter without opening another color then the second was an umbrella where you can change the hood of the umbrella into a darker one or a transparent one by pressing a button in the handle and also depending on the weather then the third option was the sleek stick with a comb and thus the team decided to pick the third option to modify this existing product for we see that this is the most feasible and thus will help a lot of people who have the same existing hair problems other than the people we specify.

Now the following narratives of my interview validation of our product from a 2 different persons.

At first I interviewed a female student through an online platform (Messenger) that was an Advance/Aspirant ROTC officer she states that it is really important for them to keep their hair especially when they are doing their morning routine activities. And also she said that their seniors were really strict when it comes to their hair, especially for the cadets, it's really important that no baby hair falls out and made sure that the bun is tight enough but not enough to make a cause of a headache. "We are advice to use hair gel to make the hair a little shiny because it's cool to see if the brunette's hair is shiny or you can also use hair pens as long as you don't use spray net". And according to her it is very hassle that she always buy a 5 peso hair gel because for her it's kind of waste of money also after that, when they quickly line up as she said, sometimes she forgets to put her comb in her bag, so sometimes she only puts it in her pocket, and we cannot omit that there are instances that the comb will fall and that's the reason why sometimes we are getting scolded by our seniors she stated. She says that she dislikes using the hair gel especially it is very sticky to the hand. As for her, who has a very sweaty hands and there is a very big tendency that she can wipe her hands in her shirt which will cause a mess. And she wishes that there is a product or a hair gel that has a less grease. And even though it's not like the gel that we have, but she wishes that it's somewhat a hair polisher type that's handy and affordable. And that's is easily available and accessible in any stores especially in various stores.

For the second person, I interviewed a 2nd year student nurse she complains about her baby hair keeps sticking out and tired of how to style her hair without bringing her comb saying It's very troublesome because her baby hairs keep standing up and she utters that she really like her hair to be well kept and the she remarked that she's getting tired of bring a hair gel because it's too big and she sometimes doesn't like to use it because her hair is will be very stiff and hard to comb as for her who had a very curly hair. She also says that its really hard especially when they are on duty like after removing their OR head caps their baby hairs are already sticking out because of sweat and it is very hassle to go back to their bags just to get another gel and a comb to fix their hair especially that their somewhat like locker room where they put their bags are really far. And she also mentioned that using a hair gel is very sticky to the hand and probably if they don't wash their hands thoroughly it can possibly contaminate a sterile field in the OR. Thus, she wishes that there were somewhat like a very innovative hair gel that is very handy and pocket size where she cannot bring a comb anymore because it has already in the hair gel itself thus saving her a time in coming back and forth to her bag just to get a gel and a comb.

We have 3 learnings as a team first we learned that we have to accept the fact the we fail on our first venture proposal as this is part of our journey and so we gotta have to think of a new product to present. Second, we learn and reflected from our mistakes. And lastly we learn that we should really believe and trust ourselves in order for us to present this venture proposal successfully.

First Blog Reflection: A Point Of View as a Novice Entreprenurse

As a nursing student, entrepreneurship also serves as a training ground for us to learn about the real world of business, which is rarely focused on our learning profession, and this allows us to broaden our perspectives on various problems that arise and allows us to think critically and innovatively to find solutions to these problems. It also taught me how to focus and concentrate on meeting my goals. In the introduction of Entrepreneurial mind, Entrepreneurship has taught us to be risk takers, build teamwork, and make our own judgments so that we may learn inductively, and to fail many times in order to succeed, in contrast to nursing course, which has taught us that there is no place for failures. Entrepreneurship, I believe, will enable us to make money continuously even after we retire from our jobs.

But being an entrepreneur is not simple, as I discovered. In the first session, I was startled to learn that 80% of startups fail, but after hearing the discussion, I eventually realized why this happened more frequently than one might expect. Some people establish their own enterprises for the wrong reasons, while others do it with the incorrect mindset. I've always believed that if a person has a great business idea and works hard, they will succeed and develop their company. However, I've realized that there are a lot of other factors to consider while beginning a business, where this guides us in creating a baseline data in making our business successful.

Entrepreneurs are constantly trying to refine a process or come up with a fresh inventive idea that will help them get fame. It's all about making their dreams a reality in the hopes of making a difference. It is vital to find areas for improvement and manage to bring our ideas to life in an unique and appreciated manner. It may make people's life easier, and may be also the healthcare team as well as the lives of hospital patients.

There might some obstacles and challenges we face along the way. And some people might believe us that we can't do this. But if we don't even have persistence and tenacity in our own business plan, we can't pursue those who don't think we can succeed. We must have the passion to go forward and innovate our way to the top even if some things are outside of our comfort zone. Failures may befall us, but they also serve as the seasoning for success, so let's create our own paradise in this world.
