A lot of people have been wondering about what the shirt Croatian soccer player Danijel Subašić always wear underneath his jersey represents, and since I know the backstory, I thought I should share it with you. The man in the photo on the tee is his late friend Hrvoje Ćustić, who died 10 years ago after hitting a concrete wall during a match of the Croatian league, trying to receive the ball Subašić sent towards him. Subašić vowed to always honor him in that way. Ćustić’s father considers Luka Modrić and Subašić his other sons. Subašić never stopped wondering if his friend would still be alive if he sent a different kind of ball his way. Ćustić was loved by many and his memory lives on.
