Just signing on to ask where the fuck the respect went for rp admins. Why the fuck do people feel the need to tell rpg admins how to run their groups. Why the fuck do the admins get treated like shit because you told them no for good reason. Why the fuck do admins get questions without any sort of please, thank you, or even a god damn greeting. Why the FUCK do people treat rpg admins like they’re robots and then ignore the fact they’re obviously drowning in all the work that comes with being an admin.

I don’t give a fuck if something looks easy to you, a member or an outsider, the admin has to deal with a fucking lot to make sure your game goes as smoothly as fucking possible.

Why the fuck to roleplay talk blogs get more respect than fucking admins.

THANK YOU HON for clearing this up. See these are things I have absolutely no knowledge on because I wouldn’t even know to research that term because? I’ve never heard it once in my life? 

But no matter what the anon meant, they could have very easily messaged me off anon and understand I am a human being who has a life and definitely not going to go out of my way to research every single phrase that comes out of my mouth. I understand that the rpc is sensitive, and that cultural appropriation is a big fucking problem, but I am a human being who can be talked to in a civilized manner and can understand when things are problematic. 

Y’all just gotta fucking remember that people are human and not all of us spend our time researching terms origins and shit I mean like, shit, if a rpt wants to compile a masterlist for me of terms that I, a white person, am allowed to say that’d be amazing or even better a masterlist of things white people shouldn’t say. But either way this entire concept to me is brand fucking new and has me a little shook up because like, what the fuck fam.

If you want to fix the god damn problem then why don’t you do something about it instead of throwing shade at people who are literally not even active in the tags rn. EXPLAIN THAT SHIT TO ME. FUCK i’m annoyed and getting off and not answering anymore anons on the subject because this is honestly just dumb to me.

I honest to god don’t mean to fucking offend anyone I’m here to just help and give positive vibes and not be part of the problem. But when people send shitty ass anons and accuse me of shit instead of talking to me off anon I just get insanely pissed off because god damn. ALRIGHT you came into my ask despite me being inactive here for a couple of days so lets talk about it ( 1 ) I have never said aave or used the term nor do I even know what it means it looks like you’re mispelling save which I may have done on multiple occasions because I have a tendency to not recheck anything I wrote. ( 2 ) someone had messaged me on anon about using the phrases whole ass and sips tea saying since I am white I shouldn’t say those terms and I completely stopped saying whole ass because the last thing I want to do is offend anyone, I kept ( sips tea ) that’s me as my ooc tag because my name is tea and it’s cute and i’m sorry but I am not trying to step on anyones toes. Please, for the love of CHRIST can the rpc learn to just stop being so harsh and aggressive with these things? Like, if you message me off anon and talk to me like a HUMAN BEING WHICH I AM then I promise you the results will SURPRISE YOU. DIGGING DEEPER.

plot: Okay I really dig the way you approached the biography, but it felt more like a character biography than a plot bio. BUT LIKE I SEE YOU, I see you stepping outside the box and trying to put people in he mindset that Michael was in because that might inspire muse but you know what I think you should do? Scrap Michael and write it from third person. I feel like writing biographies that sort of like force the reader to feel and experience it as if it were them is really cool. Like, an example would be “you inherited the shape of her nose and her love for the culinary arts” and like take them on Michael’s journey then keep the last two paragraphs the same. But that’s an entirely personal preference!rules: Straight forward, to the point, gorgeous! Only suggestion I have is probably put a little enter beneath every rule to space them out a little better. I’ve noticed it makes things easier to read and it’s not so congested? I love that is a lgbt+ rpg it is honestly a beautiful concept and lights my heart up with joy.characters: characters aren’t available but I’ll look over your available jobs instead, I am 100% here for you making various jobs only have so many roles or else you’d get like 600 of the same thing and that’s how you have a BAD TIME lmfao no but seriously no complaints no critiques this is gorgeousadmin attitude/vibe: Ugh, I fully support asking for verification with anons questions, sometimes they just spit the weirdest stuff? Like? Sometimes I don’t even know what they’re trying to ask me either so it’s always good to just check. You definitely give off a very welcoming vibe! I love it! I love the fact you ramble too! DO NOT EVER HOLD BACK! I love it. Everything. Just flawless.other comments / thoughts: The plot is interesting and the jobs are gorgeous and you just seem like an absolute dream, I’ve got really no other comments!

DIAGNOSIS.

I love the group, it definitely seems like it’s gonna be a good time and you seem to have a pretty tight grip on it! I am personally not a fan of contained themes for rps but yours looks cute! With the plot, though, considering it’s so like, wealthy and expensive I definitely expected a deeper / darker theme, like maybe some blacks and deep maroons? BUT THATS JUST ME! I am still here as fuck for your psd matching your whole theme so I totally don’t want you to change the whole color scheme or anything. I really hope I helped and I wish this rpg nothing but the best!

what advice do you have for someone looking to start an rp who hasn't been a huge part of the community lately?

…..,,,,,,,……. I’m literally the worst person to ask this question but I’M GONNA TELL YOU FROM MY personal experience with the last two groups I opened, one of which being 1 day in and how I’m perceiving it compared to how it used to be the last time I was around ( which was probably… almost a year ago, maybe two, and that was a mess too )

Also, this got insanely long so I decided to put it under a read more because I’m anxious I am bugging people with how long my posts are. 

Personally when it comes to being an admin there’s definitely a different feeling about it. It feels a lot more like a business structure than an actual game and you sort of are seen as more of a resource for the members rather than someone just trying to have a good time? Like I think people are sort of starting to make that disconnect more and more but that may have been what it was like in the past. I don’t fully remember it feeling so… rigid.

Rules are basically the same and I think they’re pretty common knowledge, but it’s always nice to throw the reminder in and I’d definitely avoid doing an activity limit that is less than 4 days because it’s weird? Like, people want active rps but the second you put a time restraint on them they get…. Overwhelmed. Which I get, I mean, but you just sometimes really want that feeling of comfort that they’re going to stay active.

Gender ratios are a thing of the past, sort of. Like it’s aggressively getting there but there is still a massive nb problem within the community so if you can figure out a way to get people to start dipping into that, and not just focusing on males or females, then you’ll do amazing. I personally have decided to completely abandon even counting them, in fuckit I don’t even acknowledge the genders listed I just have them there so they’re known. But with fuckit I have no idea what’s going on I’m just having a good time

Applications / the trends. From what I’ve noticed, people definitely like the small contained themes for appless rps and some people do the fansite themes for more structured / skeleton rps. But like, a lot of people use container themes. Call it a personal preference but I don’t like it when everything is crammed in a little box but that… Seems to be the aesthetic. Which is cool! I’m just an old lady who misses the 250x150 gifs.

I think something really cool that rpgs are starting to do is list some aesthetics on appless rps? Like, you’re able to grab a few little things that kind of give more detail to your muse in the simplest way? Like if I said my characters aesthetics were glow in the dark posters, lava lamps and vinyl records you get such a deeper feel to them. That, and music. I’m huge on music being involved in the characters because it is so much fun.

Uh, plot wise? Don’t do anything high school related or anything with severe triggering concepts unless it’s an 18+ group. Murder Mystery Rps are sort of being beat to death right now, but the rpc always goes through waves of what they want to see. I think a few months ago it was greek mythology rp. Sometimes it’s good to follow the trends, but it’s better to set your own standards.

Honestly, it’s 2k18 and a lot of people are starting to branch out and really break the social norms so I think it’s a really exciting time to create a group. Like, I feel like people are definitely stepping out of the box when it comes to plot and how to play with the characters / the game. I know there are poc only rps, lgbtq+ only rps, kpop rps the whole shabang and it’s honestly beautiful to see.

Skeleton rps are also doing amazingly especially if they’re small and close nit with really interesting connections / concepts. 

The biggest thing people need to remember is that no one rper is going to stick solely to your group, they may be in multiple groups because they don’t like to put all their eggs in one basket because it’s like an ice cream parlor, there are a lot of really good flavors out there. You just gotta be conscious of this and I think that’s kind of different in the rpc as well. But also, that may be just me because I have never been able to really be in more than one rp at a time though I am trying to step out of my comfort zone.

Oh, and heads up: groups are dying at rapid speeds, but if you stay dedicated and keep the members entertained it can last. You just gotta show them that you care.

EDIT: OH AND FUCK, definitely send messages to rpts asking for shout outs or opinions. I prefer opinions because the reviews are constructive and helpful in promoting us. If someone sees just a shout out! they kind of scroll past it. But if they see someone talking about how excited they are about it, you get looks.

And if people are talking about things you need to fix, you get even more looks, because who doesn’t love a bit of drama lmFAO

Hi there honeybun! You’re not a bother in the slightest and I actually have a lot of thoughts on this because let me tell you I understand the need for a coadmin sometimes. First off 100% figure out what you want an admin for exactly, don’t just say ‘whatever you want to do!’ because 90% of the time if you don’t give someone a direction they’re gonna do something that you didn’t need to be done. Do you need someone to make graphics? Answer anons? Accept apps? Maintain the main? Step in when you have to take a break? There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with being an admin and sometimes the simplest tasks are the hardest. Like, 100% recommend getting a promotion-focused admin because idk about you but after a long day of answering questions and updating the main the last thing I want to do is queue promos.

Next, unless you have a friend that is here as fuck for your group, wait until after you open. Because asking strangers is impossible and it causes a very awkward rift. The before opening time of a rpg is by far the most stressful and you definitely don’t want anyone answering any questions wrong or anything, you are gonna want to be in control of that stuff it’s just like, important. But once you open, after a short while maybe a few days throw up a coadmin app and look for apps from the members because they are the ones who are gonna be the most dedicated to the group because they love it just as much as you do, they don’t want their new home to die!

Make an app that is detailed, the more detail the better. You want examples of their work, questions / answers portion so you can kind of see what their general vibe is and see if you can work with it / you think you won’t clash, a space for any discord/tumblr/kik/skype accounts you can reach them in case they aren’t always active on the blog they’re submitting on and always ask what they can do exactly / what they want to do. and have CLEAR EXPLANATIONS of the areas you need help in. ( i.e. graphics admin, acceptances admin, inspo blog admin, events admin )

Sometimes they will ramble off everything but when they do that you have to try to focus them on only a few tasks. It’s kind of like, you’re the boss and they’re the employees and the payment is having a great admin / rpg experience.

Also, always remember there are two types of people in this world, the people who take control and the people who take the back seat. If you are not someone who typically can take control of a situation and kind of lead people in the right direction, there’s a strong strong chance you will wind up doing most of the work. You definitely do NOT have to be mean or anything it’s just some people are able to stay on task better than others! It’s not a bad thing!

Hello tea!! Do you have any suggestions for a kid who wants to start an rph account, but doesn’t know how?

HELLO DREAMBOAT! Oh my god, of course of course! First and foremost… don’t… No I’m kidding, but understand this is not for the faint of heart. At least, not my version of being a rph. It requires some genuine dedication and desire to properly help the rpc in all the ways you can and sometimes? People are gonna be rude, they’re gonna say things trying to get you to do something problematic, they’re gonna demand things or talk shit on your personal opinions and other things. 

The RPH community can be incredibly toxic. But in the same breath, if you’re kind and compassionate and just like open with people? You get the love back. You just have to learn how to delete anons when they’re being annoying and shady and always have a saved tag for sweet messages so you can look back at them. It’s all about that positive energy. Give out what you want in return. When someone sends you a message, read it, don’t skim it for key words. Understand the words, and even if it’s just a shout out, give them a compliment. It never hurts to send out positive vibes and 80% of the time, you’ll get it back.

But don’t let them think you’re a little punk bitch, alright? You don’t have to always be positive. If someone’s giving you shit? And you don’t like it? React with words. Explain to them exactly what they’re doing to you with their words. If they offend you, TELL THEM. Let them know, shut that shit down. Remind them that you’re not just a god damn robot here to do whatever they want. You’re here to help them, not serve them.

Also, find your strengths. Are you good at character building? Plot building? Aesthetics? Gif Icons? Gif Hunts? Playlists? What is your niche? That’s what you’re gonna do. If all you want to do is help rpgs by giving them reviews and opinions, that’s AMAZING. It’s by far the easiest task a RPH has and it by far does the most to help rpgs, by far and the main purpose of the rpc in the first place. Sometimes people make mistakes and mess up links or their color scheme is a little scary like people don’t know. And don’t just be like ‘your color scheme is whack’ tell them how you’d improve it. Is the text too light? Let them know. Be constructive, be helpful, be kind and the rpc will treat you just fine.

Also. Never. Feed. Into. The. Drama. In. The. RPT. Tag. If you see a lot of vague posts, go ahead, stalk it, figure out what’s going on, but don’t get involved. If it doesn’t directly involve you, you do not need to be involved. You don’t know the full story, you never do. Even if there are receipts, you just don’t know, so don’t put yourself in the position where you’re part of the mob. 

I know this is more of a like ‘warning, do no do the thing’ post but I just want to give you some honest and true advice that I wish I had when I started my rph account the first time. This place gets scary, fast. But it can also be amazing. It’s weird. I wish you nothing but the best of luck kid :’’’)
