Beating The Trap of Isolation
November 29, 2024
Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.
Proverbs 18:1 (ESV)
Isolation is an elaborate trap.
No matter where we may find our walk of faith, Isolation is one of the most cunning weapons used by the enemy.
Loneliness is a top 3 issue for men - are we caught in that trap?
Take a look around - does someone have our back? If not, we are in a trap. Get in a Christ centered group and get out of a dangerous situation.

Pride Will Kill a Man
November 28, 2024
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:10
Pride is hard to detect in oursevles.
Others can see it in us, but we have difficulty detecting it. Pride creates a false reflection in the mirror.
Humility is the answer. The key to biblical humilty is to allow our thoughts to come under the teaching and control of Christ.
Allow our attitude and behavior to be formed by the direction of God's spirit, not our own. Humilty is the cure to pride - and it begins on our knees in prayer.

Looking For The Good Things
November 27, 2024
Then you and the Levites and the foreigners residing among you shall rejoice in all the good things the Lord your God has given to you and your household.
Deuteronomy 26: 11
The story we choose to tell about our life says a lot about our attitude toward God's grace.
We can tell the story of difficulty, pain, disgust, or all of the things which are not working out for us.
OR
We can tell the story of how God is shining through the clutter, the noise, and delivering hope into our life.
God clearly instructs us to rejoice in all of the good things for which He has done.
Pick the story of hope and grace. Tell it with joy and happiness. God always shines through if we look for Him.

Are We Playing it Safe with God?
November 26, 2024
...So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground, Master. See, here is what belongs to you.’ “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! ~
Mathew 25: 18,25-26
There are no passages or scriptures in the Bible where followers of Christ are told to play it safe.
Jesus didn't play it safe. He came to this world to bring light into dark places. He came to conquer evil. He didn't hide.
Have we given in to fear?
When adversity comes, resist the urge to hide our faith and play it safe. Be like the wise steward who invested his master's talents and took risks, not the lazy worker who hid his talent in fear of not being good enough, or fear of getting it wrong.
Embrace the desire to grow. Commit to knowing God better.
Get out of the shadows. Express the faith.

What Does God Say About Us?
November 25, 2024
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
Psalm 147:4-5
All it takes is a simple gaze into the clear night sky to see the evidence of God's might and power sparkling and piercing the darkness.
The stars were there the night we were born, and they will be there tonight - unchanged. Just like God - unchanged.
We are no less than the stars and we are more wonderful to God than all of his earthly creation.

You are a Whoever
November 24, 2024
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."
John 3:16-17
When Jesus said these words, he said my name - and the name of every one we will see today. We are "whoevers".
Stop and take a long look in the mirror. Stare at the man Jesus sacrificed His life to save. Look into his eyes. We, my friend, are the world to God.
So, receive the blessing of forgiveness and hope from God almighty. Now, show others how to see their reflection in these words of Christ.

The Truth Behind God’s Discipline
November 23, 2024
Discipline-is the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
It Builds our Character
Romans 5:3-5
Not only that, buy we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that sufferings produces endurance, and endurance produces patience
It is not a punishment, it is a correction
Job 5:17
Blessed is the one whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty
No Pain no Gain
Hebrews 12:11
No discipline seems pleasant at the time but painful, later on, however, it produces a harvest if righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.
Deut.8:5
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you

Renewing the Strength
November 22, 2024
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
Isaiah 40: 29-30
The Christian man doesn't shrink from a challenge. He's willing to lay his life on the line for someone else's sake. He's not afraid to love those who are deemed unlovable. He always shows up, he skips excuses, and lives an example for his family and the kids in his community to follow.
God provides a deep well of strength for those who seek Him. He restores our soul and gives us purpose.
If we feel like we are about to burn out... pull back and pause. Make a list of everything God has done for us. Count our blessings - and then - get back in the game.

Staying On Track
November 21, 2024
It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.
Deuteronomy 13:4
Are we caught up trying to clear trails and lay down tracks of our own? If so, we will constantly struggle.
We must decide to follow God's path.
Don't make life harder than it needs to be. God has already given us the pathway. Just jump on the rails, put fuel in our engine, and go.
God built the rails and sent Jesus Christ to put them to work. All we have to do is focus on the engine, the cargo, pulling as many boxcars along with us as possible.

Bringing Christ To The Table
November 20, 2024
Where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.
Matthew 18:20
Every believer has the presence of Christ within him. Where God's saints are, His sanctuary is, and His promise is to be present.
Christ is in the midst of us to direct us and strengthen us, to give us courage and comfort in times of hardship.
We are strongly encouraged to get into community with other believers. Living faith as a lone wolf robs us of the promise Christ is making to His followers - to be present in community.
Whether in a church, on a mountain, in a coffee shop, or on a road trip - gathering to celebrate faith is powerful and life changing.

When Words and Actions Merge
November 19, 2024
Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is a simple “Yes” or “No.” Otherwise you will be condemned.
James 5:12
We find it easy to trust people who say little and back their words with action.
We learn to avoid those babbling fools who talk and talk but never back up their words with action.
Want to keep our integrity intact? Let our words and actions come together to tell our story.
Keep our language clean, promise what we intend to deliver, and don't make bargains with empty words and no action.
Speak truth. Live truth. Confess our mistakes.

When Trouble Floods Our Life
November 18, 2024
God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded.
Genesis 8:1
When trouble has worked us over and knocked us down for the count, remember Noah. He was overrun with adversity, but God remained.
It took 40 days to afflict the earth with water, and even though God brought relief - it didn't come in a day.
If we are in the midst of our flood, relief will come, but remain patient. God has a pattern of delivering his people. It helps us see His grace more clearly as it is worked in us.

Running our own race
November 17, 2024
I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward–to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back. ~ Philippians 3:13-14 (MSG)
Do we ever have a hard time getting out of the blocks? Stuck and finding it hard to run our race?
Don't listen to those evil voices encouraging us to stop. To halt. To freeze. To wait. To delay. That we aren't equipped... all of which are lies.
May we never be caught dreaming of being the man God built us to be and always known as a man
running his race for God.
The race is ours to run... the gun is firing. Go!

The Monetary
November 16, 2024
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9: 7
Money and Christianity tend to have a struggling relationship.
At the core, all movement of giving should begin from our heart. From there, the giver cheerfully directs his giving.
Soak our efforts in prayer and when the time comes to serve the lives around us, it will effortlessly come through our heart and flow into our time, our talents, our gifts, and our money.

What is our Story?
November 15, 2024
“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God."
Luke 12:8
Some say you can't judge a book by it's cover. This may be true, but it doesn't keep the world from judging Christians based on what they see on the outside.
Be careful not to get caught up in making a "cool cover" and neglect the content.
Jesus looks at our heart, our content. When we live for God first, we begin to tell a compelling story others become interested in hearing.
What will our story be today? Will our cover match our content?
May we live in a way that another page of faith is written by our actions, so others see Jesus on the cover of our book.

A Strategy To Handle Fears
November 14, 2024
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
John 14:27
The presence of fear is the single most dramatic influence on our daily lives. Fear is clever, like a chameleon, it adapts to the environment and changes to fit the conditions around it.
Fear is a relentless bully which demands a response each and every time it arrives on our doorstep. If we want to make progress in our faith, we need a plan to address fear when it shows up.
Build a strategy for handling fear by
Asking God to reveal Himself in the situation, for vision to see how He is working in the middle of our hardship.
Take a breather and look at every angle. Is the fear being driven by others or yourself? If others, create distance. If it's you, then confess it and be accountable.
Change our stance toward the fear. Look for it's weaknesses instead of allowing it to weaken
our confidence. Separate facts from fiction.
Be a realist and be smart. Some fears have substantial influence and consequences - it may take time to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Pray. Pray. Pray for the fear itself and whatever/whomever seems to be generating the fear.

Our Story
November 13, 2024
But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.
1 Peter 3:15
Jesus Christ pushed into this wayward world to show us how to lead others to God's grace. Jesus left us with a single, simple instruction - "tell everyone about me, and do it the way I taught you."
As we build our story of faith, keep it simple - keep it real - share our story of God's grace.
Let us make certain the way we talk and the words we use honor God
Make certain the lifestyle we select and the actions we take honor God
Live with integrity and honor - compelling others to ask where our light and strength originates. When asked, tell our story about encountering God and how He impacted our life.
