Policeman mauled after warning gamblers on the streets.

Police officer PO3 Joeffrey Oraya assigned at the Las Piñas Police Community Precinct 1 was mauled and robbed by a group of people after he warned them on gambling along the streets on the dawn of Christmas Day.

PO3 Joeffrey Oraya was on patrol on Lopez compound at Daniel Fajardo at 4 a.m. Sunday when he spotted 11 people playing cara y cruz along the street.

Not only did the group of people mauled him but the group also took his 9 mm Pietro Beretta pistol, his wallet containing cash money worth 20,000 and different identification cards.

Three of the 11 suspects were later arrested via follow up operations namely Jovito Cayabyab, 32; Rosalina Cayabyab, 29; and Jujim Mijaree, 21

MJ Navarro: Singing his way through our hearts.

Music is what makes this world wonderful. Without it, our world would be blank, music makes us feel things way beyond our expectations, feelings that are powerful that it affects our day. Life without music would probably boring and thanks to those people with a natural ability to sing, our life is less difficult than it should be. Just one music in particular can instantly change our mood, just one note and tone can make everything better…..or worse. That is the power of music.

Having one person singing is already wonderful but a group of singers is on another level of wonderful. Combined voices that pierce their way through our heart strings matched with graceful movements and visually stunning appearance can make anyone suffering from a bad mood to the happiest person alive.

The University of Perpetual Help System-DALTA Chorale is one example of this. With their professional skills and talented singers, there is no doubt tht they are one of the best Chorale group out there. Even internationally! And even though these talented individuals are just students, they made their way up on the ladder of success, catch every man and woman’s heart with their solemn voices, maintain good grades while studying, and have a social life. Wew! Talk about multitasking!

But on the serious note, how does being a part of a renowned Chorale group affects its members who are still studying?

I got the honor to ask some questions to UPHSD Chorale’s current president, MJ Navarro, a 3rd year AB Communication student.

MJ admitted that it is indeed hard to be a student and a student leader at the same time being a person who doesn’t know what multitasking is at first but in time, he learned that all these hardships helped him to be a better person. He said that it is very fulfilling to see that he was able to manage being a student while pursuing his passion which is to sing.

On is earlier days as a Chorale member, MJ was assigned to be the section director and the treasurer of the organization, a job he never imagined he can do so well, being a section director which the main job is to let his co-members know the right tune and dynamics and as a treasurer to know the budget of the organization. All this hardworks paid off though, because last May of 2016, he was bestowed the honor of being the Chorale President. All of this is because he never gave up and persevere.

And his term as a president is just beginning. This year, Chorale is set to perform at the PASINAYA Festival 2016, an art festival which showcases not only singing but also other forms of performing arts like theatre and folk dancing. Also, UPHSD Chorale is planning to join and yet take home the beacon on the upcoming FEUROPA Choral Competition wherein the contestants are set to perform an European piece of their choice. But that is not the end because MJ said that there are more competitions they are considering joining and winning. This sure is a long year for MJ.

MJ Navarro, in such a young age has already managed to pursue his dream to sing and be a good student. A role-model for all of us indeed.

I hope that he will have a more fruitful year ahead and Goddluck! Or rather Break a Leg!!

before 30s Bucket List

Hi!

we all have the things we want to achieve in life right? the things that others may find a little bit weird or exaggerated but still we want to do it or have it right?

Well here is mine. My personal bucket list before I reach the age of 30.

Note: anything is possible XD

1.      Graduate.

I want to start my list with the easiest yet most important thing in life. A diploma. I know this is way too easy because we will all have it someday but for me this means more than just a piece of paper and a college degree. This for me is a proof, a proof that I made it through the hardest part of my life, a proof that I am not a worthless bum.

2.      Have a job that I love.

Everyone can get a job but not all of us can have our dream job or simply the job that makes us feel happy. What are the factors on identifying a job that you love? It has a nice pay, you love doing it, and you can still have a social life with it. That for me are the factors on having a  job that you like.

3.      Travel the world by TRAIN.

Now this is where the magic starts. A lot of people will say that it is impossible, well I will tell you it isn’t! I’ve read a blog on facebook that tells a story of a girl who traveled from Singapore to Moscow, Russia just by using a train! Imagine being on a journey where you will meet different people and different cultures.

4.      Watch the annual New Year’s Eve ball drop @NYC

I’ve always seen it on television, the famous ball drop during the celebration of the new year on Time square in New York City, and someday, I would like to witness the famous festivity myself!

5.      See the Northern Lights.

Northern lights or commonly aurora, is often seen on the northern and cold part of the world, I would like to see it as it is the most amazing natural phenomena I can think of, with the vast colors dancing on the sky, it will surely make me feel like I am on cloud nine. Imagine lying on the ground looking at the flares on the sky. Dream come true!

6.      Adopt a bunch of cats.

Cats are as adorable as Dogs too. And I want to adopt a lot of them.

7.      Sky dive!

I think a lot of people will also have this on their bucket list. I would like to experience how it feels to fall freely on the sky whitout any harness or anything(with parachute ofc).

8.      Give back to old people

I love old people, so someday, I would like to give back to them, not because they give something to me but because for me seeing old people smile like they used to when they were young makes my heart jump off of happiness too.

9.      A luxurious out of the country with my Bestfriends. For a month!

The feeling of being with the people you adore the most and spending a whole month with them out of the country is the best feeling you can ever have. I don’t have a big circle of friends,  and these people are the ones who helped me when I needed it the most. We’ve been together through our ups and downs. Imagine having an out of the country vacation with your favorite people? Yes. Pure bliss.

10.  Spoil my mother.

As the youngest of four siblings, I think it is my dear obligation to make spoil my mom. I would like to give everything to her, everything she wants because I love her so much!

NOTE: i know some of them are impossible to achieve before i became 30, but hey, anyone can dream right?

Who am I?

Hello my fellow earth inhabitants, I am here to tell you something about me. A story of a boy, struggling to find himself inside a kaleidoscopic world we call life. Here is an excerpt.

“It all started once upon a time during a rainy afternoon, a mother of three is about to give birth to her fourth child, a son, whom everyone is expecting to be a girl but God has other plans. The process of delivering the child went splendid, well because it’s C-section but nevertheless the whole Tolentino family is happy for the new blessing that came to their life. The mother, whose still lying on the hospital bed had already came up with a name, she said “this beautiful blessing deserves a beautiful name, thus I will name my fourth child HERO”. Everyone on the room gasped. What kind of name is that? Just then a rushing man came running, it’s his father, a humble carpenter, he sat beside his still lying wife and said “No! This is my youngest and last child, I shall name him before me! Thus I will name him Generoso jr.!” everyone gasped again, thinking that the name game turned really serious for the couple, but after a couple of hours of arguing, they settled with the latter. The boy grew up feeling different, always feeling rejected, he does not know who he is. He is having the hard time to find himself. His purpose in life. He knows he is capable of doing great things, but something inside him is not happy. Something inside him tells him he is not good enough…”

Yes everyone. My name is Generoso Padayao Tolentino Jr., youngest of the four siblings. I love kpop, night sky, walking during the night, being alone with my friends, and fried chicken.

Growing up is hard for me, I live inside a broken home, my mom and my dad separated when I was only 5, I can still visualize the day I found them karate-chopping each other. Now, I live with my mom, the most precious gem on my eyes, I love her so much. She is the reason why I am still here, studying, even if it’s really hard for me to keep up.

I have this thing, I think they call this Social Anxiety or Anxiety in general. I am always afraid to be inside a room full of people whom I don’t know, or even if I know them, it’s really hard for me to get into a conversation. I am always afraid all my life, afraid of the things I know I can do very well. I always think of the best and worst of every situation and that is what is hindering me to have a will to push forward.

Tip: I learned to diminish my demons by ignoring them.
