OOC: RETURN FROM HIATUS
YES!!!! I might not be as active as I used to be, but I HAVE RETURNED!!!! I’ll play catch up and break some ice better later, but wanted to give an official hello to all my new followers and suchlike!!
UH. ALSO. AHAHAHA. I went to try to follow some new peeps from DRP and then realized I forgot I was logged onto my indie Nux account, so if some of you randomly were baffled why some cult-crazed Rev-Head was following you, that’s why. XD
BUT YES. TIP OF ME CAP AT YOU ALL.

Busy as heck is where! So sorry for the prolonged absence, got some pressing deadlines IRL and have been swamped up to me eyebrows! MOSTLY fun stuff, at least, so no worries there, friends!
Will try to get back into the swing of things as time allows, but I’ll be a lot more relaxed in a few weeks! :)

Bert gave a laugh, shaking his head, “Well, it’s a carpetbag, aint it?” His fingers drummed nervously on the tablet top as he glanced up the stairs. This was Mary Poppins. He was certain she could handle herself, there was no need to worry. She was strong and capable and more independent than any Sister Suffrigate he had ever met. Even so, those had been some serious brutes. It had taken both him and Hans to fight them off... but she just had to get away.
Deep breaths. Things would be fine. Keep smiling or it’ll worry Hans.
“She keeps a lot of ‘fings ‘ere abouts,” His voice softened, gaze drifting from the stairway to the rows of shelves and the memorabilia they held. “Memories. An’ er... Such. Mus’ be quite convenient, ‘avin’ your ‘ome mobile like this! No matter where you go, there you are!”

“C-call for help...” Bert mumbled, still numb as his friend pushed the keys into his hands before wrapping his arms around him in a brief hug, but as he watched, still frozen to the spot, as Hans hurried toward the scene, his sences seemed to come clawing back- terrified or not, mental images aside, it was one thing for Bert to undergo the torture of something going wrong, but in time it WOULD work itself out... but Hans? “Hans! Hans, wait!” But it was too late, the prince had already started the ascent. Bert’s breathing quickened, heart racing as he glanced toward Milo’s office building, and then back toward the scene, his hand tightening around the keys until he finally shoved them into his pocket and, against his better judgement, forced himself forward.
What was the point of this magic, if he couldn’t do good? Sure, there was plenty to be afraid of, but nothing he couldn’t spring back from, right? Inside he was screaming, but he bottled that down deep as he hurled himself up the fire escape. If anything were to happen to Hans in the process of all this, he’d never forgive himself. That would burn deeper than any physical wound, he was sure. He barreled into the window after him, taking a moment for his eyes to adjust to the scene inside, “Hans! Hans, it aint-” Smoke poured through the halls, filled the room. Thankfully the flames hadn’t reached this entrance just yet, but that would change quickly if he didn’t move.
They had to get everyone- Hans included, out of there.
There would be time for panic attacks, sobbing and mental breakdowns later.
“S-step in time...” He whispered, barreling forward toward the sounds of terrified voices.

Trigger Warning: Panic Attack Symptoms
Usually, the chimney sweep would have leaped up immediately, joyfully singing away their beloved dancing game, but this time the only thing that managed to choke from his throat was a simple, “I can’t,” The smell of smoke- it used to ignite fond thoughts of good times on roof tops, joy shared among his fellow chimney sweeps, a beautiful red coat and dancing without end... now, the smell was soiled in his mind, triggering an underlying memory of seared flesh, his breath coming in sharp gasps- couldn't breath, couldn't breath, but he wouldn't die, even as the world burnt away around him, even as he burnt away, The Judge’s pleased face warped by the waves of heat pouring off of the pyre... “I can’t...” He repeated, and realized he was trembling as he took an unsteady step back.
People could die- people who wouldn't come back. people who wouldn't heal with the aid of a wizard’s magic. Innocent lives. Possibly children, families, the fire would spread.

“Oh... oh Golly...” Bert’s stomach sank and twisted, palms sweating enough he was amazed the chalk drawing didn’t dissolve immediately around them, his face positively crimson. “It... it aint like tha’! “S-someone... aughta’ ‘ave called the authorities,” Bert murmured, his voice tight in his throat as he gaped in horror at the flames climbing up toward the sky ahead of them. People trapped, fires spreading, where were the sirens? Where was the emergency bells? Help was on it’s way, had to be on it’s way, he could feel the heat of the spreading inferno from here, just a block away... “We... they...”
A month ago, he would have leaped right into action. No second thought given, people were in need? That day he happened to be a fireman. Climb the building, help where he could, get out as fast as possible. He never would have even considered consequences.
But a lot had happened between then and now, a lot that was still raw, and left deep scars that didn’t show on his skin. He felt ill. Innocent lives at stake, and all he could do was stand there, frozen in terror...

✓ → how do they react to praise?
I like t’fink quite modestly! Honestly, when it do come me way, I’m no’ sure what to do wif’ it, beyond being quite happy for kind words! The best sorta’ praise, wha’ comes far too infrequently, is a few coins in me cap, though! Kind words won’ buy me lunch!

❄ → favorite season and why?
Spring Time, I’d say! Beautiful flowers an’ colors an’ smells, even in the city! Gardens in bloom! Although Fall can also be quite loverly for all them reasons, a good time of the year for sweets an’ treats- never mind ‘ow loverly snowfall is too, an’ a great season for sellin’ roasted chestnuts, although it does get quite nippy, an’ Summer’s great for trips to the sea - I ‘ad a job on the boardwalk once! On me breaks at the carnival games, I drew portraits! But I digress...
Oh, golly, I don’ ‘fink I coul’ choose one!

♠ → what are they afraid of?
Truly afraid of? Well, in light of recent events, wha’ used t’scare me don’ no more, but I s’pose it’s the same ol’ fear, just evolved. She says wait for her... but for ‘ow long? What if she don’t come back? What if it’s all been for noffin’? Romance aside, what if I’ve really lost me best mate from me own foolishness? An’ I’ll simply ‘ave an eternity to feel it. Also I’ve learned fire can be awful an’ terrible and no-good an’ I won’ be attending any bonfire parties for a while, no.
