Why I like the potential of Rowley x Angie

Rowley was willingly to shake Angie’s hand and with the look on his face he was keen to hang out with her.

There’s really some unspoken interest.

After the split up between Greg and Rowley, Angie was waiting for the latter alongside Collin and walked away with him.

I just think they’re cute too.

Since it’s MerMay ofc I have to draw my OC Rhythm🐳🩵 Behold, her look in the water✨ I didn’t want to leave her hands bare because it just looks weird without gloves imo so I settled on bracelets/cuffs. Rhythm and other folks that are from underwater are able to go on land thanks to the chaos emeralds.

✨Lore: A very long time ago, the chaos emeralds once scattered throughout the planet’s oceans. Eventually, the folks underwater discovered them. Prior to this, they knew little about the world above. With the seven chaos emeralds they made a wish that they can become friends with the folks on land.

I drew Sedna, the Goddess of the Sea. Sometimes she’s described as a mermaid. She controls the ecological balance and food supply of the Arctic Ocean. Sedna is a very significant figure in Inuit mythology and is still honored by the Inuit people.

The her parka and translucent fingers are a nod to her origin story; she was an ordinary woman who married a man who was actually a bird. During her father’s attempt to rescue her the bird created a storm, afraid for his life Sedna’s father pushed her over. Sedna held onto the canoe but her father cut off her fingers and she fell into the sea. Instead of drowning though, she became the goddess and her fingers became the marine life we know today.

I wanted her to look like she’s been in the sea for a very long time, hence the different color of her skin and her parka not looking new/more tattered. On her face, arms, and tail are Inuit tattoos. The fluke looking like the northern lights was an accident but then again, it’s suitable given where the Inuit live.

Aquamarine is one of my favorite movies, not just because of the mermaid part but also the messages it gives and the characters are so enjoyable to watch!

I wanted to draw Aquamarine as a mermaid tbh though thinking what pose to draw her in wasn’t easy (idk why) but I decided on her cuddling with the prize toy dolphin from her date with Raymond.

How I’d write post-Dog Days books into movie adaptations:

Since it’s MerMay month, why not? I know they have short hair canonically but long hair feels more merfolk-like imo and their tails being the same color is inspired by H20 Just Add Water.

If Holly were to her own spin off, I think the first cover should be green as a throwback to her main role in Last Straw, with yellow accents as a nod to Dog Days which she briefly showed up and the bigger part she played in the 3rd movie adaptation. (Also, I wanted to try more than just pink)

Rhythm has ability is to make vibrations by whistling and the complete control how severe it can be; strong enough to break glass in a heartbeat, opponents can feel its pressure that can make them struggle with balance and hearing, all in long range.

She takes pride in her singing and is a jeweler who works at a town that’s both on land and underwater. Both humans and anthros live there, but the underwater area is only inhabited by sea anthros.

Personally-wise Rhythm isn’t cuddly and bubbly but not stoic and anti social either.
