“Every evening, an hour before the sun goes down, I walk toward its light, wanting to be altered. Always in quiet, the air still. Walking up the straight empty road and then back. When the sun is gone, the light continues high up in the sky for a while. When I return, the moon is there. Like a changing of the guard. I don't expect the light to save me, but I do believe in the ritual. I believe I am being born a second time in this very plain way.” - The Light Continues by Linda Gregg #bangalorediaries #home #belonging #lightseeker #reflection #healing #silentstories #hope #anicca #moon #nightscape #lindagregg (at Bangalore, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cqa1tZmSUHM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Spring is always poignant because nothing stays. “In the beginning of time, the skies were filled with flying elephants. Too heavy for their wings, they sometimes crashed through the trees and frightened other animals. All the flying grey elephants migrated to the source of the Ganges. They agreed to renounce their wings and settle on the earth. When they molted millions of wings fell to the earth, the snow covered them, and the Himalayas were born. The blue elephants landed in the sea and their wings became fins. They are the whales, the trunkless elephants of the oceans. Their cousins are the manatees, the trunkless elephants of the rivers. The chameleon elephants kept their wings but agreed never to land on earth. They change colors of their feathers every day. Today they are azure, and when it rains they are the color of pearls. When they go to sleep, the chameleon elephants always lie down in the same place in the sky and dream with one eye open. The stars you see at night are the unblinking eyes of sleeping elephants, who sleep with one eye open to best keep watch over us.” - Gregory Colbert, Ashes and Snow. #nature #elephantlove #coexist #ashesandsnow #gregorycolbert https://www.instagram.com/p/CnbJ7ozo6mJ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

May you know kindness this revolution around the sun, may your belief in humanity be restored, may each footstep you take be in wonder, when you see those footsteps beside you disappear may you embrace impermanence, when your fingers strum may music reverberate and calm your senses. When you look in the mirror, may you recognize yourself. When gentleness knocks on your door, may you let it in by the hand and smile knowing you are ready to begin again. To a year filled with expanding your heart and embracing love and kindness, Happy New Year dear kindred souls 🌻 1st January 2023 Makalidurga, Karnataka #lightseeker #reflection #hope #anicca #newbeginnings #happynewyear (at MakaliDurga Hills) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm5WlB8Ivm4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

“Some nights there's time to walk outside. Some nights there's time to let the natural world in. Sounds. Silence. Dark. Even in the city we can find it. And these summer days when dawn is here so early, don't miss it, even if it's just once, to be there before the world wakes you. To be. The Solstice, and the days that follow are a time for you to be. It's nearly midnight. I'm going outside. There's a candle in the window and I won't blow it out. You'll know where I am.” - Excerpt from Jeanette Winterson's Substack newsletter Goodbye 2022, I am filled with gratitude for you. 2023, please find the home with the candle in the window. #bangalorediaries #home #lightseeker #stillness #reflection #anicca #moon #nightwalking #nightscape #jeanettewinterson #goodbye2022 (at Bangalore, India) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm1vrGmoRuG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Over the past few years the route to silence within has taken many shapes and forms for me; my recent visit to Studio Goppo under the guidance of Arpan Mukherjee was one such form, that facilitated reflective silence. Apart from learning about the new cyanotype process, I absolutely loved exploring Shantiniketan's flora for tannin sources, for toning cyanotype; and introducing monochrome gum print to add colour to cyanotype. Also, revisiting the colour gum bichromate process was definitely the highlight for me. It was not only a transformative experience, but also phenomenally therapeutic! For those of you interested in learning about these historic printing processes in photography, in India, I highly encourage you plan a visit to Studio Goppo @studio_goppo in Shantiniketan! Arpan @arpan_mukherjeee, thank you for inspiring and for sharing your wealth of knowledge! All of me is tingling with the excitement to create!! Image 1, 2,3: Gum Bichromate prints. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence, India Photo Archive Foundation is organizing an exhibit, and book, featuring work of Indian photographers since independence. The work not only highlights India's journey as a nation since 1947, but also how photography continues to shape the visual narrative and cultural landscape of modern India. I am honored to be a part of this exhibition and book, alongside photographers whose creations I have admired. Thank you @museo_camera and @adiarya for conceptualizing this historic exhibit! Please visit Museo Camera in Gurgaon to view my work. Exhibit opens for viewing from 20th August until 18th September 2022. Happy World Photography Day! https://www.instagram.com/p/ChbTvH6P9SW/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

"Freedom from fear is the freedom I claim for you my motherland! Freedom from the burden of the ages, bending your head, breaking your back, blinding your eyes to the beckoning call of the future; Freedom from the shackles of slumber wherewith you fasten yourself in night's stillness, mistrusting the star that speaks of truth's adventurous paths; freedom from the anarchy of destiny whole sails are weakly yielded to the blind uncertain winds, and the helm to a hand ever rigid and cold as death. Freedom from the insult of dwelling in a puppet's world, where movements are started through brainless wires, repeated through mindless habits, where figures wait with patience and obedience for the master of show, to be stirred into a mimicry of life." - Freedom by Rabindranath Tagore Tagore Shantiniketan, West Bengal, India 15th August 2022 #shantiniketan #freedom #hope #75thindependenceday #independenceday #rabindranathtagore (at Shantiniketan) https://www.instagram.com/p/ChSfsk6Id6g/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withregram • @thehungerprojectindia One of the star volleyball players, Sheena is determined to become an eye doctor and even open a hospital, especially tending to the needs of old people. She does feel a major sense of learning loss due to the pandemic. “We had to go to the main road to catch the network signal.” But with schools reopening, she feels better.   She proudly spoke about her father’s continuous encouragement as one of the reasons why she is able to dream about pursuing higher education and have a purpose. “Family support matters.” Photos by @sujatakhanna #girlsaspire #futuresimagined #girlschangetracks #accesstoeducation #livelihoods #grampanchayats #saynotochildmarriages https://www.instagram.com/p/ChQ9J5oPH5V/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Posted @withregram • @thehungerprojectindia Reshma reflects on the sea change she sees in herself since the campaign began. She feels confident about articulating her point of view more easily. The last two years have been difficult because of the pandemic, but being part of "the campaign has given me and others a new lease of life, and a renewed motivation to imagine positive futures" for themselves. In her free time, as and when she gets access to her mother’s phone, she, along with the other girls, likes to make short reels about everyday things.
