okay but henriksen really thought he was doing something in 3x13, just casually roasting sam and dean like “hope y’all enjoy prison, you’re never getting out lol” and they could not care less. dean’s cracking jokes, sam’s unbothered, like yeah yeah whatever dude. but the second he says “take a good look at sam, you’ll never see each other again”—bro. the way they SNAPPED their heads towards him. like they forgot how to breathe for a sec. eyes full of murder. like how dare he even suggest they get separated? that's his biggest sin right there. you can lock them up, you can put them on death row, you can throw them into the deepest, darkest hole imaginable for all they care—but separate them? absolutely the fuck not. that is not on the table. i just know henriksen had a little moment of realization like "damn okay, these guys are unwell."

12.11 - Regarding Dean

this scene is so important to me. i think it shows just how valuable sam is to dean; he's above everything in his life. above himself. he can forget anyone, his mom, his friends, he can forget his own name but he will remember sam. the sound of sam screaming, sam in pain, is the catalyst. it's just so telling. he has spent his entire life protecting his brother, and it's so engrained in him. it's who he is.

I don't know enough to identify it properly, but I think it's very interesting that Supernatural (though a love story of two brothers) is Sam's story (he's Luke Skywalker, Dean is there to protect and drive him ect ect) but it's never from his perspective, we're always watching him from the outside, through other people's eyes. It's his story (and Dean's, equal parts, sides of the coin, soulmates. But everyone who worked on it agrees that Sam is the "main" character. Sam is the one who survives) but he isn't the one who tells it.

i remember when the last few episodes of supernatural aired there was a scene with the boys at the bunker and they were passing a beer one to the other and the camera stayed a little too long focused on their hands brushing and everyone (d*st*elers) went batshit crazy saying it was GROSS and EW THEY'RE BROTHERS WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO DO???? anyway lol good times. no wonder they were traumatized by the finale
