Proshippers: Please DNIA Wreck-It Ralph AU where Sugar Rush got plugged in 2010 and King Candy’s reign had gone on for 2 years. A new area named Sugar Shores was finally unlocked, and with it came 6 new racers. Vanellope and the others found out just how much Turbo had taken from them once the game had been reset.
Don't wanna be here? Send us removal request.
Note
if you do go with a sugar rush 3 what would be in it?
For the time being, I'm leaning towards something similar to Sonic: All-Stars Racing, or the Mario Kart series, since those rosters include crossover characters. Some of my racers come from existing OCs from other series.
I'm also liking the idea of a World Tour of sorts, where the racers and their themes could be based on sweets from countries around the world. All my ideas for a third Sugar Rush game are kinda up in the air.
I wanna finish the sequel roster first so we'll see what happens from there.

Casually browsing Pinterest only to get quite the surprise of seeing all my Sugar Rush kiddos posted there. While I won't copyright strike them (or whatever the Pinterest equivalent is called), credit would be nice lol But what can you do?

What's the overall aesthetic of Sugar Rush 1984 aside from the 80s theme?
The 80s aesthetic is the selling point. Think of the 80s retrowave and synthwave themes that have resurfaced in the last couple of years. The game's theme song is even an 80s version of it. It's also very present in the kids' outfits and throughout each of the tracks. 1984 is the set year in their game.
Their world is more like a bustling city instead of the calmer village/town setting of the first game. Some of the tracks would consist of places like an arcade, a mall, the beach, highways, city blocks and a warehouse. With Sugar Rush 1 getting a major update, and with Sugar Rush 1984 being reverse compatible, both of their worlds get linked by a major bridge east of the castle.
Fun little fact: The Sugar Rush games are set in the year they were released, so with SG 1984 taking place that same year, the og game is set in 2010. Most of the roster in 1984 are at the age where they could be the parents of the kids in the first game.
Not making any promises though XD

what does King Candy think of the new kids? was he able to tamper with their memories since they used to be locked? and what to the new kids think of the other racers?
On the surface, he was happy to have new racers join the roster. The more, the merrier, right? Except, he found nothing to be thrilled about. It's because they were locked that his access to their codes was very limited. He worried that their memories were intact, and actively tried to prevent having them unlocked by making Grand Prix mode as difficult as possible for players.
His suspicions were partially correct, since the kids had awareness but on a subconscious level. They weren't hostile to Vanellope when she showed up, and believed she was a Glitch because her coding wasn't completed yet. Despite their own excitement at finally joining the rest of the roster, there was something about King Candy that felt off to them to the point they decided not to trust him.
With the other racers, the Sugar Shores kids were excited to finally meet them. Then that gets soured almost immediately after they witness the bullying Vanellope was subjected to. Fudgie in particular told them (excluding Vanellope and the recolors) that they were no longer invited anywhere near Sugar Shores after arcade hours. Even after the game's reset, Taffyta and the others had to earn their invitations back. Gummli and the squad were lenient to them by then after learning about their memories being tampered with.
They were fine with the recolors from the get-go as the girls never participated in the bullying to the point they didn't know the extent of it. The girls were in a position where they were too scared to speak out, worried they'd be shunned as well. As mentioned above, the newbies had no reason to be hostile to Vanellope and believed that an upcoming update to the game would fix her code.
Gummli: "Glitches are usually the result of hiccups or errors in codes, causing things to get messed up and not work properly. If Vanny wasn't meant to exist, even her name would just be a jumble of text and numbers. But look at the Jumbotron! It spoke her name clearly, it's spelled out normally and she has her own icon like the rest of us! She's definitely meant to be a racer!"

Hey! I have a couple of questions about this Au!
One. Will there be a fan fiction about this? I’m so invested in this conpect!
2. how would the recolors and the newbies react to meeting Ralph? What would they all think of him?
3. What else do you have for the future of this Au?
Hi there!
My plan is to make some comics once I've had more practice with the layouts, backgrounds, and the kiddos themselves.
2. The newbies met him at the junkyard after he chased off the other racers for bullying Vanellope. At first glance, they mistook him for a local and fellow racer. The recolors didn't get to officially meet him until after the game was reset.
They view him as a pretty cool guy for doing what he did and helping them out. For the recolors in particular, they're very thankful since it's because of him that they got their identities back. He's often addressed as Mr. Ralph.
3. My next step is to make artwork for the entire roster of Sugar Rush 1984 now that I completed the list of names and candy themes. The game is compatible with the original Sugar Rush after the latter receives a major update (seasons, day/night cycles, etc).
In this setting, arcades never faded out the way they did in the real world, so Sugar Rush was one of the many games that continued getting updates. Also of note, the events of the sequel don't happen here as I'm not a fan of the movie.
There could be the addition of a Sugar Rush 3 down the line depending on whatever ideas I get for it. There's no real conflict after Turbo was dealt with, so the focus would be more on adjusting to the roles they were meant to have and making the best of it.

I would like to know what the sweet fans of Neo, Citronello, Fudgianna, Gummli, Momo, Minty Sakura, Flancheska, Fruitina and Shakelynn are like (I'm not going to ask about Froya because you already told me that in a comment)
This question is just out of curiosity.
All of them will be added in the updated version of their character sheets sometime during 2025. I want them to match their themes entirely so:
Gummli: Gummy Bears
Neo: Mini ice cream sandwiches
Citronello: Mini limes
Fudgianna: Fudge stripe cookies
Momo: Mini mango and peach candies
Sakura: Chocolate cherry blossom candies
Flancheska: Mini flans
Fruitina: Fruit tart slices
Shakelynn: Mini milkshake cups
They might change up a bit but these are my plans for the time being

sorry if this is weird to ask but do you have specific ethnicities for your sugar rush ocs?
I do! It's not weird, don't worry lol
Redgina
Latina/Dominican, and she has African, Spanish, and Indigenous (Taino) ancestry.
Gummli
*Before their redesign, they were meant to be mixed race consisting of Caucasian, Japanese, and Black *Post redesign, they're Black, Japanese and Latino
Neo
Jamaican - Ugandan
Fudgie
Hawaiian - Russian
Citronello
Native American, specifically Algonquin/Cherokee
Momo
Half Black, half Japanese
When the kids get their own redesigns, their races will remain the same.

Gummli's new look! Since the OC they're based on had also been redesigned, I wanted to reflect that with Gummli as well.
They were always meant to have a space theme, but I didn't really show it in the 2022 design. Gummli's outfit is meant to at least resemble a space suit, and I made the stars a lot more visible as well. Players can select between both versions of their outfit. In personality, they're still the same so their original profile here still applies.
I wanted to get them looking as close to the canon style of the Sugar Rush kids, but with a mix of my own. Took me quite a bit to get the hang of it, so it's all a matter of practice from here. Their kart might get redesigned to fit the color scheme better.
As it stands, this doesn't mean I'll be going back and redrawing the other kids as well. At least not yet. I wanted to see how much my art style had changed since then. I'm balancing a lot of different things at the moment so I've been approaching it at my own pace.
My interest hasn't died, so no worries there.

I've had this idea for the longest time and thought I'd break my art block by finally getting to it. Kiddo looks odd since it turns out that I've never drawn her before. I'll eventually get the hang of drawing her better in my style.
Seeing the concept work for Vanellope's princess outfit, I found myself liking the other versions instead of the final poofy dress we got. There's something about the other ones that I felt suit her better.
So for this au, after the game is reset following Turbo's downfall, Vanellope's default dress is the one on the left. With help from Gummli, she plays with the code a bit to achieve the look on the right, that way she would match the kart she made with Ralph. It doubles as an extra outfit players can select, allowing her to switch between her casual and formal looks.

Finally remembered to link each specific profile
The Roster
(Changes will be made as more racers get added later on)
Sugar Rush 1984 aka Sugar Rush 2 (2014)
A sequel game to Sugar Rush (2010), set in 1984 and with the strong 80s aesthetic to match.
Azulon Razzblue
Redgina Velvetine
(Azulon and Redgina have the same link as I uploaded them together)
Sugar Rush (2010)
The original game, which was released in 2010 in this setting rather than 1997. Turbo hacked the game and his reign had been going on for 2 years. In this version, 6 new racers would join the roster after a player had managed to beat Grand Prix mode, coincidentally on the same day that Ralph himself would end up crash-landing there.
Shakelynn Maltswirl
Fruitina Sweetblossom
Flancheska Sugarglaze
Froya Nougatina
Gummli Bearington
Neo Politan
Fudgianna Crumblequake
Citronello Sourlime
Momochi “Momo” Mangotoya
Minty Sakura

I just wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone that's been following and interacting with this blog. While I haven't been active in quite a while, it makes me very happy to see the folks interested in my own take on all of the Sugar Rush kiddos. My project has been in the back-burner for quite a while but do know that I haven't forgotten about them.
There's no set date, but for my next step, I want to complete the entire roster for my take on the Sugar Rush sequel, Sugar Rush: 1984.
After that, I'd like to eventually and possibly go for a redraw of the roster I included back in 2022, just to see how far my art has improved. I am taking things one step at a time as I've been kept busy with work and other life responsibilities.
I have a lot in store. No set date but it's in the works. Thanks again for all your support!

Hello, I want to tell you that I love your ocs and your AU, they all have a great design and are unique. 🥰🥰🥰
What I liked:
1. I liked that you gave Sakura Minty her own car and more in her style because giving Minty's car to Sakura didn't seem like the best idea on the part of the creators.
2. That the recolor shapes have a true identity of their own, their own personality, a characteristic candy theme and their own personalized cars. And I like your idea that Shakelynn, Flancheska, Fruitina and Froya became recolored versions of Minty, Jubileena and Adorabeezle due to a side effect of Turbo's hacking of the game codes, it really makes a lot of sense.
3. The fact that Citronello Sourlime is the only Sugar Rush racer to have a disability gives him a very realistic and significant touch since it is very rare to see in a racing game character with that quality but at the same time it gives him more realism to the game in general
Hi there! AAAH thank you very much! I believe I saw your comment on Youtube the other day and didn't get around to replying as I haven't written in Spanish in a very long time XD
For Minty Sakura I always found it odd they never gave her a kart of her own after going out of their way to design her. I always thought her similarities to Candlehead were interesting so it's a shame nothing else happened with that.
My idea for the recolors having their own identity was based on one of the more popular theories folks had at that time. I always wanted to give it a try and that's how I ended up with those four.
Citronello is based on one of my ocs who is also a wheelchair user. I included him to demonstrate how disabled folks are still capable of driving when their vehicles have the right accommodations. It's something that I noticed most people don't really think about.
When I have more time and energy, I'd love to add more racers, complete the roster for Sugar Rush: 1984, and possibly redesign some of the current ones to see how much my art has improved over the last 2 years.
Thanks again for your message!

Minty Sakura is one of the 6 racers that were unlocked after a player beat the game’s Grand Prix mode. This also unlocked a new area known as Sugar Shores, located to the far north of Diet Cola Mountain. It’s a beachside town that also contains 6 new tracks.
Minty Sakura
Theme: Pocky, mint chocolate, and sakura ice cream
Kart: Choco-Mint Dream
Racing Track: Minty Meadow
Like Momo, Minty Sakura hails from the original Japanese version of Sugar Rush. Another detail brought over from the original is that Minty happens to be Candlehead’s twin sister, which explains their similar themes and color scheme. While polite and good-mannered, Minty isn’t above the occasional quips of sarcasm and snark. After Sugar Shores was unlocked, Minty was eager to meet her twin but was also confused on why she wasn’t going by her full name of Minto Candlehead. It wouldn’t be until after the reset that the names would be properly restored. The sisters would then spend time racing each other to get the higher score.

Momochi is one of the 6 racers that were unlocked after a player beat the game’s Grand Prix mode. This also unlocked a new area known as Sugar Shores, located to the far north of Diet Cola Mountain. It’s a beachside town that also contains 6 new tracks.
Momochi “Momo” Mangotoya
Theme: Peaches, Mangoes and Mochi Ice Cream
Kart: Pastel Dasher
Racing Track: Tropical Palace
Like Minty Sakura, Momo hails from the original Japanese version of Sugar Rush. Patient and playful, Momo is a deep thinker and also acts as a mediator when conflict arises. She has strong awareness of her surroundings and can read people rather well, knowing who to best interact with ahead of time. She was the first to make notice of King Candy’s rather odd appearance, but initially shrugged it off as his design being changed to suit a North American audience. She remained suspicious nonetheless, but preferred to wait for further evidence to present itself.

Citronello is one of the 6 racers that were unlocked after a player beat the game’s Grand Prix mode. This also unlocked a new area known as Sugar Shores, located to the far north of Diet Cola Mountain. It’s a beachside town that also contains 6 new tracks.
Citronello Sourlime
Theme: Limes and Key Lime Pie
Kart: Green Thunder
Racing Track: Citrus Art Gallery
A racer with an eye for creativity, Citronello likes to let his art speak for itself. He views the Candy Kingdom as a massive canvas filled with endless displays of craftsmanship. Art exists in all aspects of life and he has embarked on his quest to explore them all. His paintings and murals can be seen throughout different locations in the game, and the majority of his works are featured in the art gallery that also doubles as his track. He’s the most observant of the racers and likes to keep a sketchbook with him at nearly all times to see if his art is trying to tell him something. He’s an ambulatory wheelchair user and can walk and stand for certain periods of time. His wheelchair transforms into his kart seat and vice versa, and moves on its own. After being unlocked, he’s shown to have a shop that lets players change the color schemes of everyone’s karts.
****
With the exception of Momo and Minty Sakura, these group of racers are all based on my OCs. They’re from another project called Earth 14.
