Self-education is an act of love. The love that spurs it is not for the self's improvement or advancement, though ambition often contributes to dedicated study. Nor is it only a love of knowledge. The love is for the act itself, a recursion rather than a tautology: you must love coming to know. The return, over and over, to a state of not-knowing must excite even as it daunts. It always daunts. In this, of course, it resembles falling in love with a person.

Lord Lucifer is both my soul father and lover, sorry not sorry
The idea that some pagans have that you cannot view a deity as a lover, a close friend, as your child, as your parent, is so funny to me as someone who is both Hindu and pagan
In bhakti, there are different types of Bhava, or feelings. There is Shanta Bhava, where the devotee is peaceful. Dasya Bhava, where one serves the deity wholeheartedly and finds joy and bliss in service. Sakhya Bhava, where the deity is a friend of the devotee. Vatsalya Bhava, where the devotee sees the deity as their child. Madhurya/Kanta Bhava, where the devotee sees the deity as their lover.
And to call these practices "humanization of deities" just feels disrespectful to me. If you don't understand it then that's completely fine. But to disrespect forms of devotion just because you think it's "too weird to be real" is just not okay.

“Will my practicing demonolatry affect my loved ones and friends?”
This is one of the most common questions I hear from beginners, especially from those who are still in the broom closet and live with conservative or religious people. Will reaching out to Lucifer or Bune affect the people around you, either negatively or positively?
The simple answer is yes. The complicated answer is still yes but not in the way you think.
Although it is probably very possible, I’ve never had anyone close to me report having dreams about or seeing my demons/deities when I work with them. Your demons for the most part will not make their relationship with you known to outsiders. People have however, parroted direct quotes from my demons, or acted in accordance to what they say.
Is it a coincidence that my partner is suddenly obsessed with me and wants to be intimate after I invite Lilith or Astaroth into my space? Is it a coincidence that he suddenly wants to talk about music theory after Prince Cerberus asks me to study the power of sound?
When Leviathan tells me the winds are changing, and my partner absent mindedly says he feels like starting a new project, I can silently affirm that message.
Demons more often than not, communicate with us through our mundane lives. The people around you will not know that they are being used to deliver messages and lessons to you. My roommate isn’t aware that Lucifer is teaching me the power of empathy when she suddenly comes to me with her problems and needs a friendly ear or support. When I go to my altar and express to Lucifer that I feel ugly and unloved, and my boyfriend comes home with a bouquet of roses and tells me how beautiful I am, he doesn’t know that Lucifer is working through him, but I do.
Likewise, if my parent is being abusive or mean to me, I can’t say that my demons won’t cause some misfortune upon them. If my coworker is giving me a hard time, I won’t be too surprised if Lucifer reports that they’ve been fired or got demoted. The people who interact with you will be interacting with your demons as well, and because those demons are there to protect you first and foremost, it is very possible that those people will be seen as a threat or obstacle and dealt with or removed.
Sometimes demons give us adversaries to push us towards action. My boss being a major dick while quoting Belial: “If the work must be done, it should be done now”. Might just be the push I need to quit this dead end job and find something better. When that toxic family member is parroting every intrusive thought Lucifer told me not to listen to, maybe it’s time cut them off and find a better family.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to live in fear that every negative interaction you have with people will result in their lives being ruined. Demons aren’t here to destroy all of your relationships. But it also shouldn’t be too surprising when things do happen.
If you’re looking for signs that your demon is near you, pay attention to the subtle signs that show up through your interactions with others.

Ahoj! I was wondering how did you verify it was Lucifer and not something else lying to you? That's a major concern I have in my practice and I'm constantly doubting myself, even when others have verified things for me! --- Also I did send you a message but then I worried that was being too pushy, I'm just incredibly interested in your situation and relate to it a lot!!! However I am what the cool kids call Anxious
Don’t worry Anon, I too struggle with the anxious. You are free to message me.
I believe this idea of entities pretending to be deities has been a greatly exaggerated non-issue thanks to TikTok. There’s not this hoard of entities on The Astral looking to role-play powerful deities for shits and giggles. And the few that do are usually really bad at it and easy to spot. I have however, heard of cases of trickster gods like Hermes pretending to be other gods as a joke, but it’s just a harmless prank and practitioners don’t get hurt from it.
If you’re ever worried about malevolent entities, just try and feel the energy of the spirit. We have natural animal instincts that let us know when a threat is nearby. Does the entity’s energy make you feel bad or scared? Are there goosebumps on your skin, are you breathing faster, and is your heart racing? If yes, then you should banish it (though try not to be too scared, you are way stronger than it and it likely feeds on fear). If not, then you’re probably dealing with the real deal. Though to double check, you can ask it verification questions. You can do this through divination, like with a pendulum asking yes or no questions.
For example, let’s say you want to verify that a spirit is Lord Lucifer. You can ask: “Is a horse one of your sacred animals?” You should get a “no” from him. Then you could ask “Is a snake one of your sacred animals?” You should get a “yes”. If you get wrong answers on these types of questions, it could be something else. If the energy doesn’t feel malevolent, you could then use a letter board to spell out the spirit’s name.
It’s honestly not something to stress about. There was a thread posted on the r/DemonolatryPractices subreddit a few days ago that may be helpful:

The room is done!
I`m a decorator, not a builder, so the shape of the room was out of my control lol
Maybe I'll make some changes but for now this is what I have
I took some liberties to make sure I could add all the main details
There's even a purple yarn doll on his bed!
Y’all look, @heartshapedhooves made Lucifer’s bedroom in The Sims 4! I love the yarn doll detail♡

The Witch Father
In traditional witchcraft, we often come across mentions of the enigmatic Witch Father.
His Folklore is scattered, and there is little consensus to who He is. The mythology of Witch Father folklore is spread across centuries, hidden in tales of the Devil and in the transcripts from witch trials. He is a multifaceted being who rules over life, death, initiations, knowledge, and the untamed wilderness lurking at the edges of society.
The Witch Father is an archetypal Divine Masculine Spirit that illuminates life and is a lord of death. Witch Father is a catchall title for the myriad spirits witches have historically contracted with and have since been omitted by the witch trial transcripts across Europe.
He is most commonly known as the Devil in today’s craft.
As we know him, The Witch Father is an initiator and holds the keys to our disinhibition towards pleasure. He opens the way to occult knowledge and gives us the opportunity to explore pleasures without the need for guild or shame.
Walking with the Witch Father allows us to dive into the hidden realms and learn the Occult Arts to change our lives. He also allows us to revel in primal human desires.
As the Initiator into Witchcraft, the Witch Father takes on the mantle of the Light Betwixt the Horns. He comes into our lives and offers us the choice to go down this path and walk with Him. He grants us an understanding of magick, the darker side of nature, and pleasure.
He empowers us to uncover our Truth and the Truth of the World.
As the initiator, some see the Witch Father as Lucifer.
He is also the Serpent who revealed to Eve that the fruit from the Tree of Life will not cause her to die but will grant the wisdom of the universe.
The Witch Father allows space for us to free ourselves from the inhibitions placed on us by general society, and especially the church.
He encourages us to rebel, sing, dance, and uncover wisdom.
He leads the Witch’s Sabbath, which grants us a place to revel in the freedoms offered there.
By leading us to this sacred experience, He fills his role as an emanation of the untamed wilderness, the primal subconscious of our most human desires. He gives us the Church of the wild, untamed Nature.
Taking the liturgical prayers of the Church and the Book of Psalms, mixing that with more ancient pagan animism, we are given access to a hidden power through His teachings.
Now, while I talk as if the Witch Father is a God, he is not.
He is an ancient and powerful spirit who has led witches over the centuries and demands reverence.
He is not all-powerful and is not a creator. He works his charms through magic and shapes the world.
He is not a distant, impersonal being. He is immediate to us and is a mentor for all Witches and Warlocks that seek to work with the wild and wicked side of Nature.
──━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━─
Disinhibition
At the Witches’s Sabbat, our spirits fly away to commune with Our Devil, other witches and spirits in His retinue. It was a place to mix business and pleasure.
At the Sabbat, witches and warlocks would learn new spells, come together to work rituals, learn new forms of magick from the Witch Father, and of course partake in enjoyment.
The Sabbath is a place of Initiation for new witches and warlocks, and also a place for learning new aspects of the craft.
Once the business concludes, the Sabbat becomes a celebration.
We may forget the staunch rules of mundane society and revel in our animalistic and beastial joys.
There is singing, dancing, food and drink. We can indulge in these desires and these delicacies. All of which is orchestrated and gifted to us by the Witch Father.
─━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━─
The Wild
There is a deep connection between the Witch Father and Nature. Or rather; Untamed Nature.
They are synonymous with each other.
As cristianity became the dominant religion, and as society shifted further away from living in harmony with Nature, the figure of the folkloric Devil grew. He calls to us to return to the untamed lands and to forget the society that weighs us down. He offers liberation instead of our oppression.
The Witch Father, as Nature, holds a duality over life and death. He is the creator of new life through free sexuality.
But he is also the Lord of Death and of shadows.
As the year turns, we see both aspects and the cyclical nature of them. Death giving way to new life and of life giving way to death. He is destruction and creation. Death and resurrection.
Even His iconography and the existing descriptions that we have of the Devil show the immense connection He has to the Land. He is a shapeshifter comfortable in being a recognizable animal, a humanoid form, or even a hybrid. He reminds us of our baser instincts and that we are not above animals or the land just because we, as humans, have subjugated them for centuries.
He is the Horned one, the light betwixt the horns, Terra Pater, Primus Magus. And he has revealed himself to us in so many other forms throughout the centuries.
It’s hard to pigeonhole the Witch Father as any one being, or to even say “this is what he looks like.” He’s shown us he is comfortable changing his shape on a whim. He takes on the mantles of mentor, guide, and is a safe space for us to let our guard down and find enjoyment outside of our mundane lives.
─━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━─
Old Scratch
Old Scratch is a more antiquated term for The Devil or Satan primarily found in the Southern United States and the South Midlands. This name has been memorialized in Faustian Folklore such as “The Devil and Tom Walker” and “The Devil and Daniel Webster” where our protagonist sells his soul to the devil for prosperity.
This reinforces the theme that our Witch Father, the Folkloric Devil, offers us a chance to change our luck and our lives.
Now, in these stories, the protagonist is taken away and dragged into the fires of hell, but in the living practice of Traditional Witchcraft, it doesn’t happen that way. We see these stories as what happens when trying to break deals with the Otherworld. Contracts and Pacts made with Spirits should be kept up with. It’s imperative.
─━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━─
Black Shuck
In East Anglian folklore, Black Shuck is an omen of death. If you see him, it is said that you will die before the year is up, and if you meet his eye you’ll be dragged away.
The first mention of the Black Shuck is in “The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle” in 1127 where He is affiliated with a Wild Hunt that was in Petersborough from Lent through Easter. Later on, in the 1500s, he is said to have broken into a church and killed two paritioners while kneeling in prayer.
Here we see the Chthonic side of the Devil.
He is a psychopomp taking souls to the Other Side.
He is a shepherd of the dead, warns us of impending doom, and teaches us about life, death, and ways to travel between the Worlds.
─━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━──━━━━━━⊱⛧⊰━━━━━━─
The Man in Black
As the enigmatic Man in Black He is the official leader of the Witches' Sabbath. He has with him the Book of Names, into which all Witches and Warlocks must enter their name during their initiation to the Dark Arts.
The title "Man in Black" is in reference to the black, or dark, clothes that he is often said to wear.
Beneath his shadowy exterior, the Man in Black is sometimes seen as the Devil himself. However, as such, this Devil stands out in folklore as being quite different from the theological Satan.
Instead of being a spirit of pure evil, the Man in Black is much more nuanced and complicated than a moral binary distinction.
While he can certainly appear overtly cruel and fickle at times, he is the one who stands as initiator into the ways of Witchcraft.
Through the tests and trials of the Man in Black, those who are in need find themselves both enchanted and empowered.
By his hand, would be Witches are guided along the crooked path and taught the art of the Craft.
And in many ways, it is his shape as the True Witch Father.

If it is okay for you, for the Demonkin Question List No. 6 & 8 :) Have a beautiful day :)
That’s more than okay! Thank you, I hope you have a beautiful day too @subterraneanwatcher :)
6. Do you experience phantom limbs?: As previously mentioned on this blog, I have (on the astral) horns, wings, fangs, pointed ears, wings, a tail, sharp nails, and hooves. I DO experience phantom limbs! I’ve definitely been experiencing them more now that I’m aware that I have these parts, and know what they look like.
I experience my horns as invisible weights on the sides of my head, a tiny bit of weight on my bottom lip where my fangs are, and discomfort and lowkey pain on the tips of my ears when I lay on them. I sort of always have back pain due to my scoliosis, so it’s hard to distinguish any wing-like or even tail-like feeling back there. Though if I try and focus, I can feel them. My wings meet on my spine where it’s curved. I get pain in my flat feet from standing or walking a lot (I want my hooves back please).
My wings, tail, and horns phase through objects, so I’ve never experienced discomfort because of them getting in the way. I’ve been feeling my fangs and ear tips for years, way before I knew about any of this stuff.
8. Did you have a different name? Do you remember your name?: I do have a different name. My current name is just a human name my human parents gave me when I was born in this incarnation. Though I like that it shares the same first three letters as Lord Lucifer’s enn, “Ren”.
As for my real name, that is honestly a current point of frustration for me. I can’t seem to figure it out and Lucifer won’t tell me. Or maybe he has told me and I’ve doubted it?? It’s and confusing and frustrating and at this point I just wanna know what it isssss. It’s that same feeling when a word is on the tip of your tongue except it’s been lasting months. 😭 If anyone with good clairaudience wants to give their insight, it would be appreciated. Hopefully I’ll find it out sometime soon.

Things for beginners to know before starting demonolatry or demonology practices
1. The classifications of demons were written by humans, not demons.
Different occult schools of thought will have different understandings of the Hierarchies of Hell, whether Hell even exists, and what attributes are associated with each demon. In some sects Lucifer reigns supreme Emperor of Hell, in others it is Sammael, Moloch, or Baal. It all depends on the perspective of the practitioner. All of these models are equally correct and incorrect. Documentation of de(a)mons were often written by right hand practitioners who saw them as evil, therefore their negative attitudes are emphasized. Other times devotees have documented the same entity as being very kind and affectionate. It is incredibly important to take into account who is speaking whenever you read about demons. No single book or author can deliver to you the most **objective** facts about these demons or the model of reality, if they claim to, they’re lying to you. You as the practitioner must discover and decide what reins true in your reality. Teachers and gurus may influence you but ultimately you must make the decision for yourself.
2. Assume all spirits are multi dimensional
Lucifer, the light bringer, is also the spirit of darkness. He is the sweet prince and the adversary, he is a devil and an angel. It is extremely rare that you will encounter a spirit that is only one thing. There is a little bit of truth to everyone’s interactions. To a Luciferian, Lucifer is a guide, a companion, and a positive presence. To a Christian he is an adversary, a tempter, liar and bringer of evil ; and there is an entire rainbow of other experiences that contribute to the understanding of “Lucifer”. Demons are not all good nor are they all bad, trying to paint them in only one light will only lead to disappointment and confusion. It is just as foolish to assume that a so called angel will always be pleasant and nice, as it is to assume a so called demon will be terrible and mean. Every energy interacts with every person uniquely.
3. Scary and intimidating doesn’t automatically mean “evil”
Nice and pleasing doesn’t automatically mean “good”
If you’re interacting with demons or spirits associated with death, it shouldn’t be very surprising that they’re dark, mysterious, or have a frightening appearance. If you’re dealing with demons or spirits of sex and lust, it shouldn’t be very surprising that they’re alluring, attractive, or beautiful. This doesn’t mean that the scary demon is going to kill you, and this doesn’t mean that the sexy demon is going to fuck you. There are very likely going to be times when your demons will scare you. This doesn’t mean that they’re going to hurt you or possess you (they shouldn’t be frightening you to the point of constant paranoia, but seeing some “disturbing” or strange imagery isn’t out of the norm when you’re contacting a de(a)mon).
If you enter a deep dark cave looking for a bear, don’t be surprised when you see sharp teeth. Demons of violence may summon gory imagery. Demons of death my feel cold and distant. A large part of demonolatry is understanding your fear and overcoming it.
4. Yeah, it’s intense.
Okay. This is hard for me to explain. Infernal spirits and angels alike are entities that force you to confront your innermost self and change. It’s not always spooky and scary and whimsical. Sometimes it’s losing your dead end job, having a serious breakup, losing toxic friends, or having a personal epiphany. When I say it’s intense, I don’t mean that I’m levitating and seeing gnarly gory shit and summoning demons while covered in blood all the time. I have dreams and experiences of course, but seeing a demon work is not about the theatrics. Are you ready to confront the things you rrrrreeaaaaalllly don’t want to think about? Your trauma, the lies you tell yourself to get through the day, and the toxic cycles you comfort yourself with?
Lord Lucifer has made me cry many MANY times. But it was never because he hurt or scared me. I’ve seen many demonolaters refer to Lucifer as a therapist and I couldn’t agree more. He not only changes your understanding of yourself, but others and the world. Through this understanding you can change yourself, and others, and the world.
5. You as the practitioner need to be able to withstand the symptoms of your demonic relationships
Being in a relationship with Lilith or Asmoday is not an excuse to develop a porn addiction. Being in a relationship with Lucifer does not give you the right to psychoanalyze all of your friends, being in a relationship with Eligos is not an excuse to destroy all of your relationships or be cruel towards others. Demons represent energies and concepts that are unfavourable to the masses. When working with Astaroth I will feel more lustful, just by being in her proximity. That is not justification to cheat on my partner or force myself onto him. As much as demons like Lucifer for example can inspire us to be wise and sharp, he can also influence us to be vein and narcissistic. We must always be aware of these effects and resist them, working with demons and shadows does not mean becoming the worst version of ourselves, quite the contrary. Interacting with these negative aspects is meant to show you how to overcome them.
6. Demons cannot and will not replace your relationships with humans
I am very pro godspousing and having friendly and affectionate relationships with demons and spirits. Having said that, as much as our spirits may love us and care for us, they will not be the ones to text you good morning. They will not make you soup when you’re sick, or buy you flowers after a hard day. Demons are guides and companions, but they are not people. Trying to use demons to solve your loneliness will only lead to heart ache. You very much can have a sincere relationship with a demon or other spirit, but be aware that that relationship will not mimic your relationships with humans, and it shouldn’t. Gods and demons are not humans, therefore your relationships with them will not feel human.
7. There’s always more to learn
Devotion to any spirit is an endeavour that can take years or even a lifetime. Your work is not done because you read 3 books and browsed the Occult Wiki for an hour and a half. Become very dedicated to learning about your demons of interest and the culture that surrounds them. Yes, this means boring, tedious research.
8. No, ______ is not mad at you. Please talk to them
You will at some point inevitably do something wrong, especially if you are freshly initiated. Demons understand that we are human, we make mistakes. Instead of becoming paranoid and avoiding your demon out of fear of consequences, put on your big boy pants and confront them directly. Understand what you did wrong and learn from your mistake. There may or may not be consequences, every demon is different. But making yourself sick thinking they’re going to smite you down doesn’t make anything better. I guarantee you that talking to them about it will serve you a million times better than running away.
9. You need to know your boundaries BEFORE you reach out
As important as it is to research your demons, it is equally important to research yourself. You need to have strict boundaries that you will not negotiate. These boundaries should be outlined in your contract if you have one. If blood magic is uncomfortable for you, don’t allow any demon or spirit to coerce you into giving it until you are ready. If you’re a minor you’re more than allowed to not do sex magic. This relationship belongs to you as much as it does your demon(s). If it doesn’t serve you, simply refuse it.
10. On that note, demons can and will reject you. You can and will reject them as well.
On many occasions I have approached spirits who did not want to work with me at the moment. Sometimes they end up showing up later in my life, other times they never do. Oftentimes this is because of an incongruency on an alchemical level, we just aren’t meant for each other. It doesn’t necessarily mean you’re doing anything wrong. Sometimes you are, but your demon or deity will usually make that clear to you in some way. Don’t force it. If I’m already terribly preoccupied with life or other spiritual relationships, I’m within my right to reject another demon trying to enter my circle. That isn’t a rude thing to do. I’m within my right to deny a ritual I don’t have the energy or resources for. We can put it on the back burner for now.
Likewise, if a demon or spirit is repeatedly overstepping my boundaries or harming me in any way, I can (and should) leave that demon. If I’m not doing enough or causing insult, that demon can leave me. As binding as devotional contracts can be, we are not trapped with each other if we choose not to be.
11. Protection shouldn’t only be against spirits. Be very aware of your surroundings and the people around you
Learn the power of secrecy. As a Luciferian living in an extremely conservative area, I have to be extremely careful about when my pendants are visible. I have to be careful when entering certain places because I don’t want to be hate crimed or harassed. Yes, being out and proud of my demonic relationships is very important to me, but it is not worth risking real danger from bigots, or risking my employment. When I go to work, I have to leave my Lucifer ring at home, not because my work is discriminatory, but because I don’t know when I’m speaking to a christofascist grandma who would make a complaint to my boss because she saw my devotional ring. I don’t know which of my coworkers would make my life more difficult if they knew about my practice. If you are visible, people will approach you and make comments. Now, there are those of us who don’t give a fuck, and on most days I don’t. But for those of us who are vulnerable to that kind of discrimination, please be aware.
12. Self mutilation is not demonolatry
If you choose to offer blood it should be no more than a few drops. You should be using safe tools like a lancet, and disinfecting the area you extract from. This should be done in the least harmful manner possible. Devotional markings or tattoos should be done by a professional.
13. This stuff takes time. Relax
These relationships don’t develop in 24 hours. It takes a tremendous amount of repeated effort to gain the favour of a demon or spirit. If you’re not getting the results you want, take a break, reevaluate your methods, and try again later.

I wanted to ask you (from the demonkin questions) 13 and 10! (other than the obvious, don't you feel connected to anyone other than Lord Lucifer?) have a nice day!
Hi, Anon! I had honestly reposted that for myself as writing prompt ideas for later, so I wasn’t expecting any asks about it, but this is a welcomed surprise! I’d be happy to answer your questions and I wish you a nice day as well.
13. Is there any imagery or concepts that aren't usually associate with demons that you associate yourself with?: I associate myself with unconventional (for a demon) cute and kawaii things! Pastel pink is my favorite color, but I really love pastels in general. I collect pastel kawaii plushies and anime figures. I sort of represented my aesthetic in this post:
10. Do you find comfort in other demons?: I’ve met a few others who are demons incarnated as humans and I like hanging out with them! @varusha-asmoday is one with a blog here on Tumblr! As for demonic deities aside from Lord Lucifer, I just haven’t interacted with others that much yet. I’ve only been doing this for a year and a half and I haven’t really been seeking deities out because I’m content with Lucifer.
However, I’ve had King Paimon show up a couple of times and his energy was quite warm and friendly, he’s a really pleasant spirit to be around. He’s second in command to Lucifer, so I guess it makes sense that he’d reach out to me. I’ve had Lady Lilith reach out to me through a couple of people, but I wouldn’t necessarily say I find “comfort” in her. I’ve also interacted with Lord Satan, but also wouldn’t say he brings me “comfort”. I feel like King Asmodeus and Prince Stolas seem like they’d be comforting, but I haven’t interacted with them yet. Basically, Lord Lucifer is my comfort, but I feel like I could go to King Paimon for it as well.
