【♞】 It seemed he had ended up in yet another dangerous situation, fighting a powerful demon on his own without a chance to contact his squad. This particular kind--a naga if he recalled correctly--was a particular kind he had never battled himself and only seen in his book of listed enemies. He recalled Kena, his superior, claiming that she had taken one down on her own once upon a time. It would have really been helpful to have her around at this moment, but there was no time to call her.
"Getting tired, mortal?" The snake-like being teased haughtily as it slashed its tail at the soldier, clearly aiming to tear skin off the teen.
"Not at--all...!" He lied through his teeth as he continued to dodge the sharp weapon, losing his balance a few times due to the speed as the sharp appendage slice his uniform a few times on impact. This was pretty bad. He wasn't sure how long he'd hold out in this fight; what with the incredible speed of the snake seeming nearly impossible to match. He had managed to fire a few rounds at the reptile, landing a shot in it's shoulder and causing it to let out a pained cry. Just as he had thought he finally had a chance, he had aimed to fire again when suddenly--
Slice!!
"------!!" Ukito winced as he was sudden stabbed at once again, the naga's tail going right through the human's right side, leaving a large, deep gash through his skin. The pain was intense and caused him to stumble back, losing his footing and causing him to collapse to the now bloodstained grass. Hit... He was hit. And bleeding way more than he had hoped. This wasn't good at all.
Irritated and clearly angered far more than before, the naga rose so that it towered over the smaller human, fierce yellow eyes glaring down at the injured marksman with rage. "You little bastard...! That hurt a lot, you know!" It hissed, gesturing a hand to its wounded shoulder that was now pulsing an ugly black color, "Did you think that tickled?! I ought to make you pay for that!" With that, it raised its blood painted tail to strike once more.
It wasn't until then that Ukito realized that the blow had knocked his pistols from his hands, leaving him without a weapon to fire at the other before his final strike. He was losing blood quickly, leaving him dizzied and panicked as he tried to think of a way to escape this situation. Perhaps this was the day he would die? What a terrible way to go. This was far from how he wanted to pass and honestly, he wasn't ready. There were so many things he had to do, so many people he had to protect, and so much he had to learn. But now it was all going to disappear into black.
Shuddering from the pain, all Ukito could do was lower his head in shame, clenching his eyes closed tight as he awaited the final strike.

【♞】 Another stranger? For a completely destroyed city, this place was terribly busy. Perhaps the world's survivors were wandering from their hiding places to finally take action for the world? If that were the case, Ukito was more than happy to guide this man to the C.S.A., but of course, the raven didn't trust just anyone he met. Humans can be just as corrupt as demons. "...Hey. Who are you?"

【♞】 Lately, Ukito couldn't help himself from staring off into space, daydreaming about this and that as he seemed to be dragged off into a trance of various thoughts. Plenty of important things had happened this passed week, what with the new members of the C.S.A. becoming parts of squads and all of the new people he had gotten to meet through that in particular. Life around him was starting to become busy, and he couldn't say that he didn't enjoy it. Having things become lively in dark, lonely times like this made living a lot easier.
He had been so lost in his thoughts that he nearly missed a figure wandering through the city ruins nearby. Perking up as he studied them from afar, he tilted his head slightly before calling out to whoever was there, "Hey... What are you doing here?"

【♞】 Yet another stranger had made an appearance. Was he a traveler perhaps? No... He didn't exactly look like the type. He didn't exactly look like a demon either, so he wasn't too worried in that particular aspect. Quirking an eyebrow, he stepped away from the wall he had been leaning against and slowly approached the man, "Oi... Who are you and why are you here?"

【♞】 "Two and a half hours of patrol... Two and a half hours of absolutely nothing..." Muttered the soldier as he sat upon the remains of a cinder blocked wall, it's height lifting his feet a half a meter above the ground. The amount of demons in this particular area had decreased by so much that there was a high chance Ukito wouldn't even catch a glimpse of one this evening. It was relieving really. Fighting demons was terribly stressful for him if he were to be honest with himself. But the lack of work made the busy-body feel lethargic, which happened to be the one feeling he disliked the most. He needed to keep himself entertained.
Just as he had run low on ideas for entertainment, he perked up at the sight of an unfamiliar figure wandering about nearby. Who in the world was that? Silently, he stared at the stranger with narrowed eyes as he tried to see just who was walking near. "...Hello?"

coeur-angelique
【♞】 A young woman? She seemed very different from any girl he had seen however. Something about her made her not fit the surrounding area, kind of like certain beings he had encountered within his time in this world. The atmosphere surrounding her seemed pure, which triggered in odd message in his mind that he shouldn't confront her unless she confronted him first. Silently, he watched her, not trying to hide that he was eyeing her in any way. He wasn't going to move; after all, he was on duty and needed to guard the area.

【♞】 "Cold..." Muttered the raven haired teen as he stared at his gloved hands. He knew it would be chilly this evening, but no one told him it would be this cold. If he had know, he would have brought a scarf with him. Regardless, he had to stand guard of the C.S.A. base until twilight. Lucky him.
Catching sight of a figure wandering into the clearing, Ukito rose his head to see who had come this way, "...Oi. Who are you?"

【♞】 It was rare that Ukito was able to rest like this. What with the constant mayhem and war, he was often out on the battlefield with his squad, protecting those in need of rescue. But today was a surprisingly calm day, and the air was warmer than it had been in months.
A gentle breeze swept at the raven's hair as he rested against a tree in the forest clearing, hiding within the shade of its leaves. He hadn't expected anyone to come by, so he carelessly slept, unware of a stranger's presence in the wooded area.

【♞】 His eyes widened for a brief moment as the taller extended his wings and took off into the night. The darkness surrounding the area seemed to have swallowed the shadow of the creature as he soared off to wherever he may go. When Ukito could no longer make out the demon's figure, he shakily let out the breath he had been holding in the whole time. He felt dizzier than he had felt moments before that encounter and his mind was swirling with more thoughts than he had ever thought in all of his time as a Civil Soldier.
Placing his guns into their holsters, Ukito made his way to a nearby wall of a destroyed building and slowly leaned against it to steady himself. He hadn't felt a feeling like this in a long time. Not since the day his life had changed... He was completely terrified.
I have to get a better grip on myself, he thought to himself as he took a slow breath, I can't tell anyone of what happened...

【♞】 Something about this man's expression really irritated the raven. Was it how he smiled so nonchalantly before him? Or perhaps it was because he couldn't tell what the other was thinking? Granted, they had that much in common, since no one could truly read Ukito's mind as well, but meeting people like him in that aspect always felt like a bother.
"...May I ask what you are doing here...?"

【♞】 Ukito's body tensed as the other reached out and placed a hand on the pistol's barrel. He froze, his breath catching in his throat as he felt more nervous than ever. He had never allowed a demon to get this close to him unless it were one that had been purified in the C.S.A. labs. It made a horrible feeling rise within his stomach that he could only describe as genuine fear.
...But even so, the fear still wasn't enough to make him pull the trigger.
"........Yukie," came the soft reply. He hadn't trusted him enough to give away his whole name. He refused to be that naive, even if things had gotten this far, "...Now please... Leave this place..."

【♞】 "Bwaaah--!!" Ukito nearly jumped out of his skin when he spotted an unfamiliar person standing near. When had they gotten there? How long were they standing there? The raven really needed to work on paying closer attention, even if he had lost sleep the night before. Cursing in his native tongue before turning to properly face them, he stared at them with a suspiscious look, "W-Who are you...? What are you doing here?"

【♞】 "...Who are you?" The raven haired soldier asked, his monotone voice seemingly uninterested, but questioning nonetheless, "Why are you out here...? Don't you know that it's dangerous here?"

【♞】 Surprise showed slightly on the soldier's face at the other's calm response. He agreed to leaving? But why? He had never met a demon that hadn't even attempted to attack him. This one was a strange one indeed.
However, the words he had said to him stung the boy a bit. To think that those words would get to him now. He had been doing this job for at least a year and had been training for at least three before. He shouldn't be affected by the thought of killing something that had put his life and other lives into despair and utter turmoil. But this being... This demon in particular seemed so painfully harmless. How could a corrupted creature seem so different...?
"............." He remained silent, unsure of what to say as he watched the man before him. He felt as though his heart had slowed to a halt as his mind swirled with thoughts. What was right? What was wrong? He just didn't know anymore.

【♞】 At that question, the raven couldn't help but pause. He felt a mixture of uncertainty and irritation. He knew what he was protecting, yes, but he couldn't just say that demon before him intended to cause any problems. The fight before was really making him unsure of himself and he was growing agitated with his own worry. He found himself staring down at the slowly decaying wildflowers at his feet as he began to form his answer.
"...My kind. Mankind that is dying out, even though we rightfully own this world. Human's who fought for many years to protect what is theirs and deserve the right to keep what belongs to them. Human's who has lost families and homes due to all of this mayhem and fear that they won't be able to see tomorrow... That is what I try to protect."
Finishing his short monologue, he looked back up through his inky black bangs to glare silently at the man, pulling back the hammers of both of the pistols in his hand, "Please understand... I'm only doing what's right..."

【♞】 Confusion showed clearly on the raven's face as he watched the sudden movements of the stranger's hands. What in the world was that? He wondered before the realization slowly dawned on him. He wasn't just randomly moving his hands. He was using sign language. The man was clearly deaf.
"...Hm..." He paused to think for a moment, trying to think of a solution to their obvious language barrier. He soon remember he had something that could potentially help them. Reaching into the bag he had connected to his belt, Ukito pulled out a small notepad and a pen. He had been carrying it to write any possible report if anything dangerous had arrived in the area, but for now, it would be used for a different important purpose.
Looking up from the notepad in his hands, he offered it to the disabled male along with the pen, tilting his head as he watched the other carefully for a response.
He didn’t catch the first part of the kids sentence when he started talking to him, but he got the last part at least. Could the boy sign? If not then there would be a slight problem. …More like him talking to a tree, than a kid. But maybe he could bring him to a town or some place with paper and pens, so he could actually talk to him. After rubbing the back of his head he signed ‘can you sign’ to see if he got any positive response.
