GALADRIEL: Mithrandir, why the Halfling? GANDALF: I don't know. Saruman believes that it is only a great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay... Simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I am afraid, and he gives me courage. —THE HOBBIT

I wished I had the power to flip reality upside down like an hourglass, and that life was not a finite affair, but rather a perpetually recurring passage through a little hole in time.

Darcy made no answer. He seemed scarcely to hear her, and was walking up and down the room in earnest meditation, his brow contracted, his air gloomy. Elizabeth soon observed, and instantly understood it. Her power was sinking; everything MUST sink under such a proof of family weakness, such an assurance of the deepest disgrace. She could neither wonder nor condemn, but the belief of his self-conquest brought nothing to her consolatory to her bosom, afforded no palliation of her distress. It was, on the contrary, exactly calculated to make her understand her own wishes; and never had she so honestly felt that she could have loved him, as now, when all love must be vain.

Hello! I'm from Argentina and I've just finished reading both The Bone Seasons and The Mime Order in less than 5 days! I find it amazing how imagination can flow sometimes and how you've researched and created this new world. I was wondering if you have a character you identify yourself with, and if you could choose a part to play in the movies, which would it be? Do you see Andy Serkis playing a role in the movie? I'm really looking forward to book 3!
Hello!
I identify most with Eliza, as she’s a Londoner and an artist, and in some respects with Jaxon, a fellow writer. I’d really like a cameo in the movie as a red-jacket at Nashira’s feast in The Bone Season. And I’d love that – Andy has actually said he’d love to play a Buzzer or Haymarket Hector, if he could choose any part!

The Bone Season Series
The Bone Season’s blurb:
Welcome to Scion. No safer place.
The year is 2059. Paige Mahoney is working in the criminal underworld of Scion London. Her job: to scout for information by breaking into people’s minds. For Paige is a dreamwalker, a rare kind of clairvoyant – and under Scion law, she commits treason simply by breathing.
Elsewhere, however, there is a seat of power even greater than Scion. And they have a different design for Paige and her uncommon abilities…
My thoughts:
I found these books by chance in a bookshop in Argentina. I just didn’t know what to expect of them, until I started reading them. I was inmersed in a completely different world, in a dystopian London. I could get into the head of Paige Mahoney, the main character, and found myself hooked from the very beginning. I couldn’t stop reading, and in less that 5 days I had finished both books.
I really think it is amazing the potential of this young author, because she could create this world and put it out so clearly that I could imagine myself a movie playing before my eyes. It is really amazing that Andy Serkis bought the film rights and I hope to see the movie soon (maybe with Andy as Jaxon Hall, mime-lord of I-4).
This series will have seven books in total and hopefully we’ll be able to have a look of the pamphlet On the Merits of Unnaturalness (if Bloomsbury allows it).
