Hey how are you? I really like your blog and would really like to know if you have any Dayne headcanons? I'm planning a Dayne character in my new fic and would love some ideas
Thank you!
Well depending on the time in which your story takes place, but if we put that aside, here are a couple of headcanons for House Dayne.
Hair: The character can have pale blond hair (ex. Edric) or black (ex. Ashara) even though it is possible the darker hair comes from her mother.
Eyes: Any range of purple, from soft violet or lilac to deep indigo, can be described as very dark blue.
Astronomy: I can see House Dayne taking their coat of arms seriously, and considering the mysteries around them to even document stars and judge their meaning during nights before or after an important event (birth of a child, death, battles, maybe even weddings) observations written by their maesters on scrolls and kept in their library.
Horse riding: Among destriers, coursers and palfreys, I think the Daynes would still own and use sand steeds the most out of horses. Native to the Dornish land, swift and slim, not strong enough to bear the weight of armour but are able to ride for a long time before they tire.
Lemons: Possibly one of Dornish houses that produces and trades lemons, or makes their own Lemonwater, Lemonsweet and Lemon perfumes to sell.
Wine: One of the houses that produces the Dornish Reds, strongwine and summerwine
Fashion for Men: Pale violet or dusty brown tunics to mid-thigh, belted with leather or silver cords. Light linen undershirts with low necks. Loose-fitting trousers or wrapped breeches. Tabards in violet, bearing the falling star of House Dayne. Long surcoats with open sides, trimmed with lilac and starlight embroidery. Pale armour, polished steel or silvered plate.
Fashion for Women: Loose, flowing robes or dresses with wide sleeves and cinched waists, often belted with silver chain belts or cords. Lightweight mantles or veils. Embroidery around hems and cuffs often shows stars or constellations. Headscarves, circlets, or crescent-moon pins worn in the hair. Layered gowns in silver-white, any purple and dark blue, often sheer silk over linen.
Jewellery: Silver jewellery is mostly worn. Moonstone or pearl jewelry set. Amethyst Pendants. Star brooches.

👑 Cersei convincing Jaime they are royalty
Cersei: Don’t you know? Papa is the King of the Rock, and Mama is his queen.
“You and I are the Prince and Princess of the Rock.” She said sharply as if it was obvious.
She took his hand solemnly. “ And one day you will be King and I will be Queen. ”
Jaime smiled — because if Cersei said it, it must be true.

Brandon Stark & Barbrey Ryswell - Relationship Analysis
Tumblr media
This analysis blends established events and descriptions from Fire & Blood with interpretive context and logical inferences based on the known historical setting, character traits, and narrative tone of George R. R. Martin’s work.
Tumblr media

I. The Rills
Brandon Stark was fostered at Barrowton by old Lord Dustin, but spent most of his time riding in the Rills, the seat of House Ryswell. He was a frequent guest there, as Barbrey's father, Lord Rodrik Ryswell, took pride in hosting the heir of Winterfell. They grew up together and often riding through the Rills, sometimes in the company of her brothers, Roger, Rickard and Roose, Lord Dustin and his son Willam or riding alone.
Tumblr media
Brandon Stark and Barbrey Ryswell by @dr3adlady
II. Attraction
Brandon was handsome, wild, mirthful and an exceptional jouster and swordsman. He was bold and unafraid to go after what he wanted. Barbrey in her youth was tall and handsome. Having made many memories while riding and watching each other grow, they quickly developed a natural attraction for one another.
Tumblr media
A sweet pain by @shebsart
III. Young Lovers
Their attraction blossomed into a physical relationship. Brandon took Barbrey's maidenhead, a moment she remembers fondly.
I think Brandon liked the sight as well. A bloody sword is a beautiful thing, yes. It hurt, but it was a sweet pain.
The relationship developed to the point Barbrey holds deep feelings for Brandon, even years later.
Tumblr media

IV. Betrothal to Catelyn Tully
Lord Rodrik Ryswell had big ambitions for the marriages of his daughters. His elder Bethany was the second wife of Lord Roose Bolton. He intended to marry his younger daughter, Barbrey to a Stark.
He would have served up my maidenhead to any Stark who happened by, but there was no need.
No betrothal could be arranged for Brandon and Barbrey to marry since Lord Rickard Stark intended to make a Southern alliance by choosing Catelyn Tully, elder daughter of Lord Hoster Tully, as Brandon's future bride.
Barbery carried a deep bitterness over her lover's betrothal, who shattered any hope of her becoming a Stark. She understood that he would have to set their relationship aside for the sake of duty and that she would be left watching another woman marry the man for whom she held strong feelings.
The day I learned that Brandon was to marry Catelyn Tully, though... there was nothing sweet about that pain. He never wanted her, I promise you that. He told me so, on our last night together.
V. Lady Dustin
Lord Rodrik hoped that Barbrey could marry Eddard, Brandon's younger brother. But after Brandon's death, he instead of him married Catelyn. Barbrey was married to Willam Dustin, son of old Lord Dustin.
Afterward, my father nursed some hope of wedding me to Brandon's brother Eddard, but Catelyn Tully got that one as well. I was left with young Lord Dustin.
The marriage didn't last long since Willam died less than a year after his wedding while accompanying Eddard at the tower of joy, leaving his wife a young widow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Barbrey Dustin/Ryswell and Brandon Stark, then and now by @amuelia
VI. Stark Crypts
While in Winterfell, Lady Dustin asks Theon Greyjoy, Reek, to show her the way to the Stark crypts. As they entered, they find some of the dead kings' sword are missing. Barbrey notices Brandon's sword is missing his own sword.
Brandon's gone as well. He would hate that. Brandon lived his sword. He loved to hone it.
Barbrey tells Theon of her relationship with Brandon and doesn't hide the grudge she feels about the Starks, now that Brandon, her favourite Stark is dead.

can you imagine how catelyn felt when she heard “jaime lannister sends his regards” right before watching robb die. she literally freed jaime behind robb’s back and put her faith in a known enemy, hoping that it would save her daughters—only to die thinking that jaime had a hand in her son’s death. lady stoneheart doesn’t just want vengeance against jaime, she believes that SHE is partially to blame for the murder of her last child. catelyn stark blamed herself for her family’s ruin, and lady stoneheart carries that same crippling guilt with her.

Joffrey Velaryon & Tyraxes - Relationship Analysis
Tumblr media
This analysis blends established events and descriptions from Fire & Blood with interpretive context and logical inferences based on the known historical setting, character traits, and narrative tone of George R. R. Martin’s work.
Tumblr media
Prince Joffrey Velaryon and his dragon Tyraxes by Jota Saraiva
I. Dragon Hatching
Prince Joffrey Velaryon was the youngest son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Ser Laenor Velaryon, born in 117 AC, proceeded by two older brothers, Jacaerys and Lucerys. Because all three boys had brown hair and eyes, (opposite to their parents who both had Valyrian features), they were widely belived to be bastards, fathered by Ser Harwin Strong.
King Viserys, determined to rid his grandsons of slander, had a dragon egg put in the cradle of each of the boys. All three eggs hatched and three princes each bonded with a dragon of their own, for Joffrey that was Tyraxes.
II. Early Bond
From an early age Prince Joffrey Velaryon displayed a strong bond with his dragon. At the age of three, he sneaked out of his bed to see Tyraxes, showing affectionate bond which they had already by then.
Always an early riser, Joff had sneaked down from his bed to see his own young dragon, Tyraxes.
Before reaching Tyraxes, he spotted his uncle, Prince Aemond, approching recently riderless Vhagar. He shouted at him to stay away from her, but was pushed into a pile of dragon droppings. Joffrey ran to alart his brothers of Aemond's actions.
III. The Vale
At the start of a war, Joffrey was barely three and ten and his dragon was too small for combat. Despite his eagerness to join in brothers, flying on dragonback to gain support for his mother's claim, he was sent to the Vale, as a ward to Lady Jeyne Arryn. He was against this idea, but agreed to go to the Eyrie only when convincent he will be protecting it with his dragon.
This did not sit well with Joffrey, who was determined to prove himself in battle. Only when told that he was being sent to defend the Vale against King Aegon’s dragons did his brother grudgingly consent to go.
IV. Prince of Dragonstone
After Rhaenyra took over King's Landing, she felt secure enough to call her youngest son by Laenor Velaryon to join her. By then, both Jacaerys and Lucerys were dead and Joffrey was the heir to the Iron Throne. A fleet set out from Gulltown with Joffrey and Tyraxes to escort them to the capital.
Tumblr media
Joffrey and Tyraxes with Syrax and Rhaenyra not too far behing by vishapart on instagram
During Rhaenyra’s defense of King’s Landing, Joffrey is repeatedly forbidden from riding into battle, pleading with his mother.
I want to fight for you, Mother, as my brothers did. Let me prove that I am as brave as they were.
When Joffrey wished to ride forth with their own knights and those from White Harbor, to reach the dragons which were going to be faced with the raging mob, the queen refused.
Mother, what if they kill Tyraxes?
He feared for his dragon's life, but the queen didn't believe dragons could be killed by a common rabble. Prince sulked off at her choice and without notice, mounted Syrax. In hurry, he had vaulted onto his mother's dragon without a saddle or whip.
Syrax wished not to command the unfamiliar rider and twisted beneath him. Joffrey unable to maintain his grip on her, fell into his death.
V. Slaughter in the Dragonpit
In the meanwhile, Tyraxes retreated into his lair as an angry mob rushed at him. Initially, Prince Joffrey's dragon managed to defend himself until people attacked him from the back, Tyraxes turned to face them, his steel chains tangled, limiting his movement.
Prince Joffrey’s Tyraxes retreated back into his lair, roasting so many would-be dragonslayers… but his chains fouled… Half a dozen men (and one woman) would later claim to have dealt the dragon the mortal blow.
After his death, his wings were cut and thorn off into strips to make dragonskin cloaks.

Addam & Alyn Velaryon — Relationship Analysis
Tumblr media
This analysis blends established events and descriptions from Fire & Blood with interpretive context and logical inferences based on the known historical setting, character traits, and narrative tone of George R. R. Martin’s work.
Tumblr media
The last goodbye between Addam and Alyn by @riotarttherite
I. Origins in Hull
Addam and Alyn were born to Marilda, the shipwright’s daughter known as Mouse. Quick, clever, and never still, Mouse bore Addam at sixteen (114 AC) and Alyn at eighteen (115 AC). Though their father remained unacknowledged for years, both boys had the unmistakable Valyrian look: silver hair and purple eyes. Considering they had Valyrian features and were born on Driftmark, without a doubt, rumours about their father being a Velaryon would start very early on.
II. Childhood
Small and quick as their mother, these bastards of Hull were both silver of hair and purple of eye, and soon proved to have “sea salt in their blood” as well, growing up in their grandsire’s shipyard and going to sea as ship’s boys before the age of eight.
The two brothers spent their earliest years growing up amid the salt air of the Hull shipyards. They were raised by Marilda and their grandfather, with whom they were close with. Before either reached the age of eight, they were already sailing the narrow sea as ship’s boys, helping with rigging, running messages, and learning about the shipboard life. Their grandfather and mother instilled in them love for the sea and respect for hard labour.
Their grandfather passed in 124 or 125 AC, his shipyard was sold by Marilda and with the proceeds outfitted a small trading cog, which she captained herself.
Living a life on a trading vessel, they hauled lines, scrubbed decks, learned to climb the rigging, and listened keenly at night to the tales of sailors who spoke of distant ports, the temper of the sea and of sea creatures. Marilda, by 130 AC owning seven ships, worked hard, and thus Addam and Alyn leaned into each other for comfort and rivalry, wrestling, racing, daring each other.
III. Velaryon Bastards
That Addam and Alyn were dragonseed no man who looked upon them could doubt, though their mother steadfastly refused to name their father. Only when Prince Jacaerys put out the call for new dragonriders did Marilda at last break her silence, claiming both boys were the natural sons of the late Ser Laenor Velaryon.
Addam and Alyn were brought by their supposed grandfather, Lord Corlys Velaryon, the Sea Snake, aged and desperate, outliving his wife and children, eagerly accepted his newfound grandsons.
This gave rise to a more provocative rumor — that the boys were not Laenor’s, but Corlys’s own sons. Since it was a known, Ser Laenor did spend his time around the Hull's shipyards, it was for male companionship, while Sea Snake was a more a more frequent visitor of the port town. He may have warned Marilda to keep her sons far from court, fearing his wife, Princess Rhaenys's fiery temper should she learn the truth.
The boys could have also been fathered by another Velaryon, Ser Vaemond, Corlys's brothers or nephews. Marilda's words were believed to be true, and with Corlys's request, Rhaenyra legitimized the brothers, making them Addam and Alyn Velaryon, heirs to Driftmark.
IV. Differences and Roles in the War
Addam embodied the role of protector and quiet achiever. He joined the blacks who demanded loyalty and skill, and he met his new position demands with humility and courage. He successfully claimed Seasmoke, previously ridden by Laenor Velaryon.
Alyn, the younger, was bolder, brasher, and more impulsive. His attempts to mount dragons failed, first with Grey Ghost and secondly with Sheepstealer, who set his cloak on fire. Luckily he was saved by Addam's quick thinking, with Seasmoke he drove the wild dragon off, he used his own cloak to beat out the flames consuming Alyn’s body.
Alyn's life was saved, but he was left with scars on his back and legs for the rest of his life. Since he couldn't become a dragonrider, he instead commanded the Velaryon ships.
V. Loyalty
After Ulf the White and Hugh Hammer betrayed Rhaenyra, she became suspitious of Addam and Alyn as well. Lord Corlys strongly opposed her judgement.
Lord Corlys went much further, declaring that Ser Addam and his brother, Alyn, were “true Velaryons,” worthy heirs to Driftmark.
Addam managed to escape questioning with Sea Snake's warning, determened to show his loyalty, attacking the occupaid Tumbleton. He proved his loyalty, honourably dying in the battle. His bones were carried by Benjicot Blackwood, laying him to rest in Raventree Hall, House Blackwood's seat.
In 138 AC, Alyn, now Lord of the Tides, returned Addam's bones to Driftmark and entombed them in their birth town, Hull.
On his tomb is engraved a single word: LOYAL.
The tomb was decorated by carvings of a seahorse, in honor of their Velaryon lineage and a mouse, symbolicing their mother.
