Super Quick, Rough Color Studies.

Super Happy with the Results of these. I’m learning So much!!! With the new Process work flow I can test color palettes to my heart’s content! I’m having so much fun learning.

These were all done mere minutes apart from one another. I spent a bit more time playing with ideas in the last one. I ended up erasing and undoing some of the final touches and decided to leave it at that. I’ll leave those extra things that I stumbled across for the next learning session.

SIde By Side Paint Comparison of how Painting engines can affect your work. I used Paint tool SAI for more than 7 years now. Its my go to program. But early back when I was learning to draw and paint digitally bakc in 2013-2014 I quickly noticed how much of a struggle covering the canvas with colors was

I definitely also noted that watching some Artist’s process videos presented to me the fact that Paint Tool Sai was not the best at painting either. It was great at drawing which was mostly what I cared about at the time.

Now, I took this same drawing (Drawn in paint tool SAI by me) and put the same colors on each one.

Then in each I took about 11 minutes using brushes from each program to move the colors I laid down around the canvas. Look at how varied the results are!! There are things I like in both. I tend to lean toward Saturated Colors naturally. Paint tool SAI for many years has deprived me of that privelage in my work.  I love being able to get cloudy and misty effects, the smooth lineart  and some of the rough/textured feel I can do in SAI though. I now have the best of both worlds and will continue using both. I don’t have to choose one over the other with my new workflow.

A Quick video showing part of my new process flow. I’m now using ArtRage alot more to get paintings and quick filling in my canvas.

I still love Paint Tool Sai but it was never a great program for Painting. ArtRage on the other hand is practically made for it!! Loving the learning.

Tons of fun doing this one :D Its a black and white test so that I can figure out what style I want to do comics in.

Roids: Had lots of Fun experimenting with her :D My Character Star Genova. A young woman that due to a series of unfortunate events lost everything dear to her. She’s not particularly evil or cold-hearted. She’s  just willing to do nearly anything it takes to get back what she’s lost.
