Okay listen we need to allow Americans the same ability to claim their versions food by adding their country’s name in front of it the way the rest of us do. We had some Texans living with us for a week and when we talked about American food one of them said “I don’t want to include pizza because we didn’t invent it” and we were like “Just say American pizza. It’s way different to an Italian pizza anyway. Shit, as a Dane I can tell a Swedish pizza from a Danish pizza”

Like there’s a reason why it’s called Swedish Meatballs it’s because literally every country has their own version of a meatball. Look, on the left are Swedish Meatballs and on the right are Danish Meatballs. We live right next to each other!

So as long as you know you didn’t invent it and that it’s different from the original I think it’s perfectly fair to say American pizza or American meatballs for that matter. I mean, American Italian food is acknowledged as a thing so loosen up a bit and have a snack.

People only like the idea of trickster spirits. "Oh, I could deal with them, easy." But once they meet one in person it's suddenly "wow, this guy sure is annoying."

Human: I don't get this whole "Earth is a death world" thing. Like, obviously it wouldn't seem like one to us, but why is it one to you guys? Are your home planets *that* much more free of disease and predators and stuff?

Alien: Oh, yes. Earth is far more hostile than our home worlds.

Human: Huh. Wonder why.

Alien: I suspect it's due to Earth's high iron content blocking the fae from disposing of such minor threats.

Human: Yeah, I guess that

Alien: I mean... Sure is a mystery, huh?

So when I was getting dressed today, I very quickly put on a lab coat and some cat ears, not even trying to have something coherent, just wanting to have some kind of costume, and then I used some eyeliner to draw some whiskers on my face, so, yeah, that's my costume, cat in a lab coat, does it make sense? no. who cares. Still wearing the same skirt and striped knee-high socks from yesterday, but that's just my work clothes.

But then when I got to my office in the physics department, one of my colleagues was immediately like, "Oh! Schrödinger's catgirl!"
