Watching this mime’s performance felt more like performance art than busking. This man commanded attention in a public transit space; which is not an easy feat. MichaelTapp.com

The Coney Island Dancers throw a dance party every weekend on historic Coney Island. Today the crew invaded northern Brooklyn and turned the steps in front of the Borough Hall courthouse into an all out dance party.

Ya know how some people give out free hugs to strangers? Well Chris “Shockwave” Sullivan gives away free beats.
“Shockwave” hit the streets of New York two days after Obama was elected president and asked strangers to provide the rhymes while he laid down the beats. Most street performers give a lot more than they take.

Underneath Times Square
This trombone player was playing New Orleans Jazz tunes with a trumpet player on a subway platform underneath New York. The picture is a little bit deceiving. A lot of folks were listening to the music and tipping the musicians; before the train showed up!

New York construction worker sings a Frank Sinatra tune.
That's MTA construction worker Gary Russo nailing a Frank Sinatra tune outside of New York's 2nd Ave. subway project. Gary Russo gives back to commuters by singing during his lunch break. The man obviously loves to sing, and I'm sure Gary's performances surprise even the most grizzled New Yorkers. (Via)

The Violin Monster  "When it came down to it, after taxes and everything, I was making right around $200 a week working at a shirt shop. And that was kind of rough," Storey says. "So this music has just become more and more my passion, and I decided to just go for it and stop doing it halfway."
It's been about two months now and Storey says he's already making more money busking full-time on the streets than he was making at his last job. He says it's getting him by and he's learning how to do it better and better all the time. Source

Fly on Freebird The Great Morgani is a 68-year old man that has a closet Lady Gaga would envy. The Great Morgani takes off the garb and Frank Lima reveals his backwards career path in this interview. Is The Great Morgani more of a musician or a performance artist? Regardless of classification, this man has an undeniable youthful spirit. (Via)

^That's The Black Lips performing in a London park for Bandstand Busking.
Bandstand Busking brings life to unused bandstands(covered outdoor platforms for a band to play on) across London. There are dozens of bandstands spread across the city, but when did you last spot one surrounded by a crowd excited to watch a talented band? We’re here to fill that gloomy void.
Since founding in 2008, Bandstand Busking has been bringing bands from all over the world to play in our parks. We film a few songs and post them online for all to see. We’re honored to have had an impressive selection of artists play; from Wild Beasts and Micachu, Black Lips and Vivian Girls, of Montreal and Fanfarlo, to Caitlin Rose and Emmy The Great – we’ve had an eclectic mix!
