i think non-STEM people beat themselves up too much for being bad at math. partially i think this bc shame will never help you learn and everyone is capable of improving at math with patience and practice
partially i think this bc i’m still grading these applied calculus exams from a class of 3rd-5th year engineering students and several of them have said 1 - 6 = -4. two of them have said it’s -7

It's probably true that Galadriel will only have hatred for Sauron now, and I don't seriously expect her to acknowledge the fact that she knew Halbrand was Sauron all along and that Sauron is really the one she loves.
But it would be so much more interesting if the writers decided NOT to take the boring route....

If the showrunners, producers, executives, etc what have you decide to listen to the Lore Bros nitpicking it's gonna be the end of the show.
Because the people nitpicking the show aren't gonna magically stop once you fix all the stuff they say is supposedly the problem. What they'll do is keep nitpicking more and more stuff, criticizing the bare bones of the show--reaching for takes in a way to shit on it.
Listening to them is not gonna get the show more viewers or praise--it's just gonna set a precedent where they complain about other things. The goalpost will keep moving till the show is a husk of itself.
On the other side, the people who do like what the show was trying to do are gonna leave cause you are removing the aspects of the show they do like and it's obvious their opinion doesn't matter.
So what's that left with?
A show that just has a following of haters that'll just hate watch and rage bait about it till it's done/cancelled in a sad goodbye. That's it.
The worst thing they can do at this juncture is capitulate to them--not only will the plot seem meandering, incoherent, inconsistent, lacking themes and a direct narrative (I feel like we saw the beginning of this in season 2 where they tried to go in hard on lore while putting characterization/journey beats to the wayside) but they'll be sacrificing the fan base that has loved the show so far and what they were doing with it at conception.
We've seen others try to pander to this line of thinking and it never ends well. (Star Wars, Game of Thrones, etc)
The show isn't above criticism and adaptability based on viewer response but I just really hope the showrunners take opinions on people who actually like the show rather than grifters that just want to hate to hate on something and will never be happy no matter what.
This is just a rant cause I see it happen too often where creators will forgo their creative vision to appease haters and it never, never works yet they keep doing it.

it's genuinely funny how sauron is just standing there waiting for galadriel to finish her unnecessary silly spin to block her incoming blow 😭
Tumblr media
he simply wants her to stop fighting and she is the one who won't stop attacking. the only instances where he gets serious with her is when she dismisses his calls for emotional reconciliation. first when she deflects from "not all of it" conversation so he forces her to face the truth, and then he really loses it and becomes desperate when she tells him that the door is shut so he forcefully keeps it open.
that stabbing is the only time he is brutal with her *physically* instead of just "playing along" with her (her taking a fall badly with celebrimbor!sauron isn't his fault, and then she decides to jump to her death herself). and i honestly think he doesn't want to harm her. he doesn't do it bc she keeps mocking, humiliating and literally trying to kill him when he is asking her to stop, he does it bc he is afraid of his archenemy closing the door on him. (it is confirmed that he doesn't do it to kill her. so the only logical explanation is that he binds her to himself.)
galadriel is clearly in denial, putting up walls as a defense mechanism, and it causes her distress. and i believe that sauron wants to "heal" her once again in the same way he did when he helped her to open up after asking why she kept fighting. but it doesn't work this time bc you can't force someone to open up once the trust is lost (and you are revealed to be her sworn enemy).
but as much as sauron dominates and destroys her in the battle, she is the one seeking out the violence and relentlessly attempting to slay him. considering this, he is incredibly patient and non-hostile with her. and it's simply insane that this evil incarnate, after discarding everyone else he had a relationship with, is visibly terrified when she pretty much attempts to commit suicide, and literally tries to save her!

People have been asking for elves who aren’t just perfect ethereal Mary Sues for ages and the minute they get Galadriel making bad choices because of her PTSD and Gil Galad being kind of bitchy because he’s got objectively one of the worst jobs in Middle Earth (which he inherited as a teenager and has a nearly 100% fatality rate), folks are upset they aren’t likable enough?? If y’all saw what the elves got up to in the First Age you’d hurl.

book jon snow come back to me... i love that you're selfless and kind and you stand up for what's right but you're ALSO resentful and amibitious and entitled and sassy. you're desperate for love and belonging but ALSO stubborn and self-isolating and think you have to do it all alone. you're merciful and compassionate and just but ALSO preferential and vengeful. you have a strict honor code and sense of morality that will even drive you to be cruel in the face of a greater good but ALSO you will leave everything at the drop of a hat for the ones you love. you're good and right and loyal and it eats you alive. walk it off bitch i need you back!!!

You see it's quite simple: if they call the earth Gaia, it's fantasy. If they call it Terra, that's sci-fi
