Ah...!
Ah!
A Felyne! An honest-to-Gog bona fide cat! Oh, Yoli could pick this dude up and give him a big squeeze right here and now if she wasn’t sure he’d claw her face off in self-defense. It doesn’t matter that he’s giving her a suspicious look: the sheer, immediate sense of relief at meeting a normal person for once in this ridiculous place is almost visceral.
“Oh! OH!”
She might be a little too excited.
He’s armed! With a swordfish! Classic! Is he a palico? Fella’s also pretty cute. Look at his little boots! Her reaction spills out in an overly-enthused word vomit.
“Mew my gosh, hi! I mean, nyalutations! Meow do you do?” She must, of course, do the polite thing and give the fine fellow a nice Felyne greeting even as she’s freaking out. “Oh man, I was wondering what happened to all the Felynes here! I’m Yoli! I’m a hunter! Are you someone’s Palico?”
@stopthewheel
He wasn’t sure what army this armor-clad person could be from, but even so, he couldn’t help but get an off vibe about the other. Maybe it was just overthinking on his part, or maybe it was because of the difference in both height and size. But no matter what, Puss was going to stay on guard, swordfish in hand. However, he was definitely going to ask something he’s been wondering about ever since he’s crossed paths with the other… “Just who and what are you?”

flight-lost:
When the stench hit, Toothless couldn’t believe what had just happened. His mouth shut quickly, lips still glowing, as he reeled back in surprise. Ew, ew, ew! Why did this person have something so nasty in their pocket!? It did exactly what Yoli had hoped it would do; the Night Fury was sent stumbling backwards shaking his head and pawing at his snout. Absolutely terrible!
Because of his refocused attention and attempts to remove the disgusting mess from his face, it left the dragon wide open. He was shaking his entire body in disgust, throwing blood everywhere from his wing, and even sat upon his hind legs to use both front paws. Running away still hadn’t crossed his mind but that was partly due to how unexpected the Hunter’s in defense was.
Man, Steve would be laughing right now if injuries and a fight to the death weren’t involved. Toothless could already hear the Gator howling with laughter and pointing his little fingers saying something like ‘HAHA LOOK AT YOUR FACE! YOU GOT PUNKED!’ or something like that. So icky and stinky and rude!
Yoli wants to laugh: not just at the dragon trying to rub the stink off its face, but also at the people who shot her dirty looks when she was collecting... materials. Give her the stinkeye, huh? Oh, that’s weird, huh? Yeah, well? Guess who’s NOT getting mauled by a dragon today, suckers!
The hunter picks herself up as fast as she can; she knows from experience that the smell will only distract the beast for so long. Her greatsword is hefted up and over, secured to her backstrap, and she quickly sets to searching the brush for her headgear.
Fortunately it isn’t too hard to find, certain portions of the Gore’s materials gleaming in the darkness. She’ll have to cut her losses here. If she’d had her usual support, supplies and a better weapon this might have been a different story, but there’s no salvaging this botched attempt at a hunt.
She’ll have to leave it. If attacking it didn’t work, maybe the dung bomb will at least be enough to get it to leave. (Why didn’t she try that first?!)
Yoli gives the dragon one last troubled look before she slips her helm back on and runs off, taking a path through the thickest part of the trees. Last thing she wants is it following her trail back to the more packed areas of the place.
At least it’s late at night. She can find somewhere to slum it out and figure out what to do with the knowledge of an unknown dragon species in the morning.

Kitchen for the room meme 8 hours late
What is the character’s favourite food?
Meat, meat, meat! Give Yoli more meat! If it’s an animal, it’s edible, and that means it’s meat! Let her eat meat! Rare, medium, well, slow roasted, sautéed, fried, dried, straight up raw, who even cares it’s meat!
Are they good at cooking? How good/bad?
Yoli knows exactly one method of cooking and that is roasting stuff over a spit. She’s actually pretty decent at it and can produce a nice golden skillfully cooked roast, but she has occasionally burnt things.
Do they leave the dishes out?
Does she look like a kitchenmaid? It’s her job to eat the food and that’s where things end.
What kind of food is in their refridgerator?
Wow a refrigerator sure sounds like a fantastic invention! It would be full of meat, so she could eat more meat for longer
For real, though, they have plenty of tried and true methods of food preservation. Fresh meat is pretty easy to come by on account of Yoli being good at hunting and capture, so it’s mostly vegetables, fungi and cheese that’s in the Caravan larder.
The stock changes depending on where they’ve been: if they were sailing for a while they’ll have a bunch of dried fish and sea vegetables left over for a bit.
Do they cook, eat out or get take-away/delivered food more?
There are numerous (and often felyne-run) kitchens all over the place where she’s from, so there’s not much need to cook for herself. She’ll gladly provide the ingredients if the chef requests, but the cooking is left to the cats.
Her Caravan’s a little spoiled: they have in their hire a cat who is an absolute artist at cooking up Eastern street food. Watching the Street Cook go to town with a wok is inspiring. Getting to eat the results is divine.

How does the character spend weekends?
The concept of “weekend” doesn’t really apply per se. If Yoli’s taking a break from her job at all, it’s usually because she’s recovering from an injury. She’d usually just be found having chats with friends and colleagues over a few drinks for the bulk of this time.
What kind of movies does the character watch?
Movies don’t exist in huntworld, womp womp. Yoli has been to the theater a couple times, but what she’s seen was more along the lines of a kabuki play than anything resembling a modern film.
She’d be into thrillers with realistic settings (NO spooky ghost horror movies, fuck off with that) and... nature documentaries probably. Animated films would fascinate her on a technical level and she’d likely enjoy them a lot.
What do they do with friends?
See above: a nice conversation over a good stout, most of the time! Otherwise it’s based on location. Maybe hang out at the Yukumo footbath if they’re passing through, explore the cave systems near Pokke, go shopping if they’re at the Val Habar market. If any of Yoli’s hunter friends are around they may take on a low-stakes quest together as well, just for fun.
What’s their favourite pasttime?
Yoli honestly loves her job. She loves hunting! But aside from that and all it entails she’s fond of music.
Her grandfather was a Hunting Horn specialist and got her started learning to play various instruments early on, and Yoli’s stayed consistent in practice ever since. She’s taken a liking to stringed instruments in particular, so she’ll often be found playing away in her downtime during travel.
What’s their favourite TV show/Film?
They don’t have TV in huntworld either, womp womp

Attic?
Already got “attic” so in the interest of doing the full suite, here’s “bathroom”
How does the character prepare in the morning?
Yoli’s the kind of person who preps her stuff the night before so she can roll out of bed last minute and be ready to go straightaway.
Do they sing in the shower?
That would be assuming she takes showers. She would if she did, though
What kind of hair product/make-up do they use?
She’ll use a plant-derived oil every so often to keep her hair from getting frizz but other than that, nothing. Yoli keeps it in tight braids pretty much all the time, so it’s not as though she does much with it in the first place.
How clean is this character?
She doesn’t go out of her way to be dirty, but Yoli honestly doesn’t give a crap if someone thinks she stinks. People in her line of work aren’t known for their immaculate hygiene. She’ll bathe when the opportunity rises as she finds it pleasant, but she fully considers bathing to be a luxury and certainly not a necessity.
Does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?
Straight up has never seen a shower in her life. She has never had a bathroom inside her house and has yet to become aware that one was made available to her in isola help

How does this character sleep? (Position, sleeping habits, bedtime routines)
On her back, hands over her head in a position that looks like she fell asleep during an arrest. It looks as goofy as it sounds. She tends to snore lightly.
Yoli has mastered the art of the nap: she often pops into her caravan house for a quick bit of shut-eye between travel, and even on a hunt she’ll occasionally head back to base camp to sleep off an ailment or injury. There’s no pomp or circumstance involved with this. Most of the time she just plops down and she’s asleep in minutes.
What are their pyjamas like?
Bold of you to imply she doesn’t just flop onto the bed and immediately fall dead asleep in her armor
If she’s gonna try to get a proper full night’s rest Yoli will just take her bulky stuff off so she’s just in her underwear, but that’s about all the effort she’ll go to. She’s not a high-maintenance sleeper.
What do they dream about usually?
Good dreams include lots of food and the occasional fantasy about a nice attractive lady. This is usually Guildmarm.
Bad dreams? Usually involve Frenzy. That black miasma of scale dust has had a tendency to show up in her stressed-out dreams ever since her initial encounter with Gore Magala.
She wouldn’t call these bad dreams per se, but Yoli often has dreams where she is a monster. Sometimes these are flying dreams. She’s got a somewhat religious view of these and tends to take them as signs of fortune depending on what monster she dreamt she was, and what that monster was doing.
How neat/tidy is this character?
Only tidy enough not to get her materials mixed up. Yoli doesn’t mind if things look sloppy, messy etc. as long as she knows where all her stuff is.
How affectionate is this character?
Yes

What is the character afraid of?
Fear is a nebulous concept for Yoli: there are many times she’s felt fear and dread while on the job, even against species she’s fought many individuals of before. Hunting never really gets any less dangerous, and disadvantageous circumstances can turn even a routine hunt into an outright horrific situation.
That said, she’s not really afraid of monsters per se, just has moments of healthy fear. The only thing Yoli gets straight up spooked by would be like, ghosts and such. She doesn’t do supernatural.
How do they deal with bad memories?
They’re just memories. The best she can do is try to take them in stride. Yoli isn’t one to bury unpleasant things. She lets herself feel and be fully upset for a reasonable amount of time, and then she’s done. In doing so she can file those feelings away without lingering doubt, as she’s let herself run the course of her emotions. Fortunately for her she’s never had to deal with the sort of deep trauma that eats away at a healthy psyche.
What is this character’s role in a horror movie?
The competent bit character who senses danger and leads anyone willing to hear reason away to safety early on, leaving only the stupid protagonist and their equally dumb friends who were to stubborn to get the hell out of dodge while they still could
How do they hide their secrets?
That implies Yoli really has secrets. She doesn’t have many. She’s a pretty straightforward person. That said she is privy to some classified information: she just keeps her mouth shut as it’s not anything that would come up in a normal talk with someone.
Which of the Seven Deadly Sins does the character relate to most?
Lust somewhat. Gluttony more likely

has your hunter fought with an odogaron?
Nope, never!
Odogaron are native to the New World only, and Yoli has never set foot there. She does know what an Odogaron is, however: she has a basic idea of New World happenings from reading Commission field reports. So she’s seen sketches and read a preliminary analysis of its ecology along with other New World monsters.
(How is she privy to this information? Yoli isn’t the only one esteemed in the eyes of the Guild among her Caravan colleagues—the Fleet Commander of Astera has met and even goes so far as to quote her boss the Caravaneer! Guildmarm was pretty thrilled to get her hands on the Fifth’s monster reports after he pulled a couple strings, and Yoli read over her shoulder for the most part.)
Though she declined the invitation to become an A-Lister with the Fifth, Yoli would love to try her hand at hunting an Odogaron or any of the New World’s other unique monsters should circumstances allow! It’s not just facing a fanged wyvern other than Zinogre that sounds like a unique challenge—the ecosystem of the Coral Highlands and Rotten Vale where the beasts live also fascinates her.
Yoli has been to a Wyvern’s End before, but it’s a vastly different environment. Nakarkos make their lairs in tidepools where the seaborne bones of dead monsters accumulate on ocean currents. Odogaron’s habitat range is a far stranger concept: a massive reef of land coral, and the graveyard below that nourishes it where old and sick monsters instinctively gather to die.

“Sure,” Yoli replies, a little bemused by the comment apropos of nothing. “If this were a shit-wading contest, I’d have won five times over by now.”
She sniffs. “Not to say these things have to be a contest. I’d say most folks here qualify for that prize. Given recent happenin’s.”

flight-lost:
Toothless takes the opportunity to get some distance between them while the Hunter struggles to get up. She just won’t quit and it’s bringing back memories of how the Vikings used to kill dragons. They were relentless until Hiccup showed them just how beneficial it could be to form bonds with the various breeds that lived in and around Berk. Not all dragons were bad, some even relied on Humans even before the boundaries had been softened.
A whine comes as a response, he can’t go home; doesn’t know how. There were no mountains or oceans, islands and forests. This was an unforgiving concrete jungle with few placed suited for a creature like him. Home is where his friends are now: Snake, Jyuzo, Steve, and a handful of others. He won’t leave them behind, be it because of death or chased away.
Blood dripping from his injured wing, there is definitely no quick escape now. He could have attempted a short flight for speed but with how a large gash tore through the limb and membrane, he’d have to stand his ground too. Narrowing his eyes he begins slowly circling Yoli, the injured wing drooping despite the obvious attempt at keeping it raised. Classic instinctual habit of making oneself look bigger, meaner, and tougher.
Teeth flashed with a snarl that bore no resemblance of the playful creature Toothless usually was. Nothing else mattered anymore, this had become a fight he now wanted to finish as the Alpha. With a wild cry, he spread his wings and leaped at the hunter with a mouth filled with plasma. He’ll scorch them both but that’s the price Toothless will pay if she doesn’t avoid him.
This one’s just as tenacious as she is. Normally when she breaks a part on a monster’s body that’s its cue to flee to at least a nearby area, but not so the case here. She doesn’t like it; she’s getting the sense that the dragon’s gotten firmly established here.
Yoli wonders, briefly, if part of the reason all those other monsters disappeared from the place so suddenly is because an elder dragon moved in. It’d explain things somewhat...
Weighted down by her diminished stamina Yoli awaits the beast’s next move. She’ll rebound off its momentum, she thinks, slide out at the last second in an adept dodge and retaliate.
But her body’s taken a beating, and she can’t slip away fast enough. Plasma from the mouth sends her crashing back down—what’s worse, she’s clipped upside the head the wrong way. Her helm comes loose, sent rolling into the brush behind her. The beast may have hurt itself in the process, but it’s got her right where it wants her.
This couldn’t have gone more poorly. Ugh, she’s been far too messy. The embarrassment is honestly stronger than her fear. Pinned, the hunter can smell the singe from her foe’s throat. If it hits her with a blast when she’s this vulnerable, she’s toast.
Shit. This is bad.
...Shit.
Shit! Of course!
Teeth gritted she wrenches her hand underneath her, into the space under her faulds. She hadn’t been able to prepare much with the materials available here, but there’s one thing this place has in no short supply she’d been able to put together.
Was it gross? Yes. Had people been avoiding her because of the smell following her? Yes. Was it about to save her life? Hopefully. There’s about a 50/50 chance it might just enrage the beast more, and if that happens she’s really in for it.
Yoli yanks a compacted dung bomb out of her pouch and flings it in the dragon’s face with all the strength she can muster. If it works it’ll explode in a foul burst, dispersing a cloud of rank stench and fecal matter dust that might just be strong enough to get the dragon to back off for the sake of its poor nose. With any luck, she may be able to grab her stuff and flee.
#i’m glad you are excited about it then and that i replied to the mini#but hurting toothless also hurts me#also im so sorry this is gross hghfjgh#when a monster pins you in MH the optimal strategy is to throw poop in its face...#it's. from the dog park by the way. yoli had a thread there with alice. yes she has been walking around with a pocket full of dog poo#it's just common sense#flight lost#toothless 01

if your muse believes in destiny/fate
There are only a few fated things in nature. Yoli believes in death. All things are fated to die. All ecosystems will eventually collapse. All societies will crumble in the end. Everything gives way to something else in due time.
The evidence of this is replete all over her world. The crumbling remains of once-mighty societies can be found just about everywhere in the Old World. Even the grand and massive Tower—which was surely a triumph of civilization at some point—is nothing but an empty shell, a nest for dragons now.
Even dragons: the husks of enormous, ancient beasts that surely commanded absolute control over their domain lay long dead in various locales. Their titanic skeletons resting like great cages all that’s left of their legacy, covered in moss and lichen.
She’s always acutely cognizant that the grave awaits her, too. This is nothing to lament, however! All it means is that one must make the most of their precious existence while they have it.
That said, Yoli strictly doesn’t believe in any of the more fanciful ideas about fate. Humans live short lifespans. You can’t sit around daydreaming and waiting for “destiny” to sweep you off your feet and deliver you to greatness. One can only achieve your ideals by struggling for them yourself.
how empathetic/sympathetic/compassionate my muse is
More empathetic than maybe one would assume out of a person that kills for a living! Maybe it’s because Yoli is well acquainted with struggling to survive. She gets it that when times are desperate, living things go into survival mode and prioritize their own well-being.
She doesn’t tend to be upset by death or suffering per se, but she often falls subdued after slaying a monster. They and she were the same thing, once. It’s only right to give it some peace even as you carve up its body.
As for people, she can be a little tough love on them, but she does fundamentally care for others. Most people aren’t that strong. That’s why the world needs hunters: to look out for the ones who can’t do so themselves.
She only really loses sympathy when a person violates someone else’s comfort, safety or the rule of reasonable law for their own gain, as in the case of murderers, robbers, poachers etc. (Even then it depends on context: for instance she’s learned that Melynx generally only steal stuff to put on their village shrines, so she doesn’t begrudge them too much for it.)
Yoli isn’t too sympathetic toward people who hold important positions or titles in society, but whose attitude or skills clearly aren’t suited to their place (she doesn’t tend to be too fond of nobles for this reason). Nepotism is rot. She doesn’t feel bad at all when someone who got to where they are by cheating finds themselves struggling.

[face] !!!
what is the shape of their face, do they have pronounced cheekbones or a strong jaw, what's the size and shape of their nose, what's the size and shape of their ears, do they stick out, are they pointed, etc.
Yoli’s got a distinctive enough face. She’s got herself a notable set of cheekbones and her brow’s pretty strong as well. Her eyebrows are thin and angle in a way that gives her face a sort of fiery expression by default. Her eyes are sharp, irises fuchsia in color, same as her dad and her grandfather had. She got her soft nose from her mom.
She’s got a pretty notable scar on her temple: It’s a long, straight slash that cuts through her eyebrow and traces a diagonal line up into her hairline. This was a wound inflicted when she tried to fight off the marauding Gore Magala as it attacked her crew’s ship on the open sea. She’d slipped up in trying to defend herself with a lance’s shield and got a ripclaw to the face because of it.
Her ears are pierced in several places, though she mostly only wears a couple earrings on her left ear: a stud and a small ring with a dangling Guild emblem attached by a chain. It’s probably pointless to note to most, but she’s got round ears because she is a human. (The only folks who have pointed ears are Wyverians and they’re a completely different species entirely!)
Of course, half the time nobody even sees her face anyway on account of her having a helm covering it up more often than not.

[chest] :^)
(potentially nsfw) what size are their breasts if they have them, nipple colour and shape and size, do they have visible muscle definition/abs, etc.
Yoli’s muscles are consistently the most prominent thing on every last part of her body, let’s just get that out of the way right now. Abs? Rock hard. Obliques? For days. Lats? Don’t even get me started.
Her breasts have always been on the small side, around an A-B cup, though they protrude a little more than the average by virtue of her thick and well-developed pectorals.
If she ever wears a low-cut top you could see that there’s some discoloration on her right breast, where she’s lost a section her skin pigment. This is due to scarring from an injury she sustained while facing off against a particularly nasty Gravios.
In fact, the burn was nasty enough that Yoli is missing a nipple because of it! What a story!
She’d been overly confident: she knew it was a pretty slow and lumbering beast, so she’d opted for lighter gunner’s armor and a bow to snipe at the irate wyvern from afar while her teammates went melee.
Everything had been going as planned... until it broke into a frenzy unexpectedly and started spitting heat beams all over the place. She took a blast dead-on and her armor malfunctioned, leaving her with a pretty unpleasant sear up the right side of her chest.
Though the wound eventually healed up, the burn had been severe enough that the tip of her nipple actually fell off. The skin there lost its pigment, too, so it’s got an odd smoothness and the areola has no color. The right breast also decreased in size a little, but it was actually a bit larger before the injury, so funnily enough they’re more even now.
If someone were to look at her topless it’d almost look as though Yoli’s got a spot of doll anatomy on her right breast only. Wyverian medicine is fine enough to ensure that the scar tissue didn’t heal to an inelastic and painful texture, but that area of skin retains an unusually smooth feel to it.
At least she got a super sick set of dual blades and a nice pile of cash out of it. It doesn’t bother her too much. Maybe if the other one fell off too that’d be a different story. Her left is still perfectly intact and she’s plenty fond of it.
