Why no Sarah J. Maas?
Not an attack but I’mma say it still. #bookblogger #YAreader
I have a lot of friends who love Sarah J Maas, I know online at least, she’s pretty popular and has her own set of controversies and all the rest but today I wanted to talk about why I refuse to read her books.
I know, judging an author before you even get into their work may be problematic but I wanted to open this topic up and make it a discussion. I suppose just to get some thoughts out there.

Who is the Audience?
I couldn't avoid it #bookblogger #BarnesandNoble
The first part of the discussion was done in the “Who is the Writer” post and I suggest you go check that one out before you move onto this one (click here for part 1 here). I was going to post something Valentines day related last week and then Barnes and Noble did whatever the hell this is:

So here we are.
I didn’t post last week, not because I couldn’t but because I wanted more time to work…

January Wrap-up (writing and reading wrap-up) #1
Sharing the progress that I've made on bookish things last month #writerlife #readerlife
I didn’t make much progress on my reading and my writing this month but I’ve decided that reading and writing wrap-ups can share the same space because January was not as big of a success as I wanted it to be.
So let’s start with the writing:
Well, I did nothing.
Tumblr media
Last time I checked in with my writing was weeks ago and I was still in the planning stages. I have a temporary name for the project…

Who is the Writer? (People of Colour) (Part 2 of discussion)
Continuing last week’s discussion on the importance of the identity of the writer #writerlife #analysis
So, today we are continuing last weeks discussion on the identity of the writer and why that seems to matter so much.
I suggest that if you haven’t seen the 1st post you go check it out (by clicking right here) as this will just continue off from that post.
So where were we?
Tumblr media
Oh yes, POC.
POC is the standard abbreviation that I’ve seen across the internet for People of Colour, this includes Black…

Who Is The Writer? (And why that is important) (Discussion)
Who Is The Writer? (And why that is important) (Discussion)
The writer of a story is someone who pens it, they turn ideas in their heads into books or TV shows or movies and we sit and ingest that media.
But today, I wanted to talk about what importance who the writer of our favourite media is.
Tumblr media
J.K Rowling had me thinking.
I am sure that if you’ve been in any space that talks about Harry Potter for the past little while, you would have seen that J.K…

New Year's Resolutions (And why they screw us over everytime)
New Year's Resolutions (And why they screw us over everytime) #amwriting
Tumblr media
So, most people on this planet who celebrate New Year’s Day on the 1st of January know about the concept of New Year’s resolutions and I’m pretty sure we’ve all made some New Year’s Resolutions at some point in our lives. To change something, whether it be to lose weight or to finally write a book or to quit a bad habit like smoking, drinking or even biting our nails.
But I will tell you know, I…

Writing goals for 2020
Breaking down my 2020 goals into an actual plan to write and edit my book #amwriting #writerlife
Tumblr media
I know that in my last post, I kind of already touched on my writing goals for 2020 but here, I want to share more in depth about how the process, or rather how I hope the process will go.
Firstly, I want to say that we are all working on different goals and timelines, just because I think and can do something faster than you doesn’t mean you have to do things at the same rate nor does that mean…

2020
Let's wrap up 2019 and look forward for 2020 #writerlife #bookblogger
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Tumblr media
We did it, we made it to 2020. There were a lot of moments in 2019 where I doubted that it would actually happen. Or rather, I doubted I would make it.
So let’s do a quick summing up of 2019, so you can truly know where I stand right now.
My name is Lilly and I had a blogpost almost every single Thursday in 2019. I participated in NANOWRIMO for the 1st time and I did Blogmas. I…

My Disappointing Reads of 2019
My Disappointing Reads of 2019 #bookblogger #amreading
I read quite a lot of good books in 2019 and I couldn’t justify to myself to make a worst list and so I’ve deicded to list the books that have disappointed me in some way this year.
Tumblr media
Some of the ratings for the books have increased or decreased since my original review of them but my sentiments stay largely the same, I’m disappointed by the stories. These are in no particular order, so enjoy it…

Yikes (Writing Update #10)
You can't write if you don't look after yourself. #amwriting #writerlife
I’ve talked a lot before on this blog about how mental health affects writing and how it’s important to look after ourselves in that way.
Today, I guess I’m preaching it again.
Tumblr media
Take me as a good example of what not to do when you’re emotionally drained.
I feel as if the Christmas season every year messes me up. I’m a December baby and I refuse to start celebrating Christmas until after my…

Most Anticipated Releases of 2020
These are the books I cannot wait to see in 2020 come out #amreading #bookblogger
This list is a short-one because I have to say, most of these are sequels and so many books came out in 2019 that I just haven’t gotten my hands on yet or haven’t started to read. My TBR for 2020 is hella long.
Tumblr media
Imagine Me by Tahereh Mafi
Tumblr media
Humans watch train wrecks, we can’t seem to look away from them and as such of course I’m still going to finish the Shatter Me series. This is going to be (h…

Trying to Write Ten Thousand words in Day (Writing Challenge #1)
I tried to write 10 000 in one day multiple times because why not #amwriting #writerlife #writingchallenge
I challenged myself to try and write 10 000 words in one day for my current WIP, the final book in my YA fantasy trilogy.
Tumblr media
I’ve decided that I want to have it done by Christmas Eve as a Christmas gift to myself, having completed a whole trilogy of books to prove to myself that I can finish what I start even if it takes longer than a year.
However, of course, I have to write a lot in a short span…

Surviving December (Writing update #9)
I feel burnt out but I'm still not going to admit that #amwriting #writerlife
So, we’re past halfway to the end of and we’re almost done with this month. I will say that I haven’t written much in the past month.
Tumblr media
I have been struggling to recover after the end of my exams in November and I keep wondering whether or not pushing myself with such exertion to finish this novel this year is even worth it.
I’ve still be working on the 3rd novel in my YA fantasy trilogy. I know…

3,5 Star Reads (Blogmas 2019)
I've been actually reading #amreading #bookblogger
I’ve been reading again and this time, I’ve got two books to share both of them I gave the same rating because they we’re okay. Not the best but also not the worst books I’ve read.

Girls of Paper and Fire By Natasha Ngan
Tumblr media
I liked this one. Going into it, I was a little confused about the title because I hadn’t read the synopsis in a long time and as such I didn’t quite understand what paper and…

The Folk of Air Trilogy in Ten Words
A series is only over when there’s a ten word review for it #amreading #bookblogger #blogmas2019
You seem to have joined me for another episode of ten word reviews. Welcome to day something of blogmas (I honestly can’t remember)
Tumblr media
I will forewarn you of the light mild nothing spoilers in these reviews. Once again, click the name of the book for a deeper in depth dive into these books. The ratings since my reviews of them have slightly changed but not by much.
And overall, I love the series…
