He respects my space
And never makes me wait
And he calls exactly when he says he will
Hallie sat in her dorm, checking her phone every now and then as she poured over all her notes.
She had one last final to study for.
She’d told Wonwoo she needed to be alone again to study, and- as always- he’d told her it was no problem.
Leaving her alone as promised, he hadn’t called or texted even once, and she was grateful for it.
But looking at the clock, it was 7:59pm, and she smiled a little, knowing Wonwoo was supposed to call her at 8:00pm.
She’d asked him to- knowing she’d need a break and probably some late night snacks- telling Wonwoo all this as well.
And of course, he’d agreed.
Her phone buzzed just seconds after the clock switched to 8:00pm, and she giggled lightly, answering on the second ring.
“Right on cue,” she teased, balancing the phone on her shoulder.
“I didn’t make you wait,” Wonwoo teased, chuckling on the other end.
Marking the page in her textbook, a small, melancholic smile pulled on Hallie’s lips.
“You’re right,” she agreed. “You never do.”
It wasn’t what she was used to- not something she was sure she’d ever get used to; being with someone so punctual.
She knew this was supposed to be better.
It is better
“I’m in the driveway,” Wonwoo told her, interrupting her thoughts.
Hallie tucked her phone into her pocket, grabbed her purse and slung it over her shoulder.
“I’ll be right out.”

He's close to my mother
Talks business with my father
Hallie sat at her parent’s kitchen table, peeling potatoes as she glanced over at the stove.
There was her Mom, stirring the chili she insisted they make every Thanksgiving- no matter how weird everyone told her that was- and there was Wonwoo, handing her the next ingredient.
“You’re like the son I never had,” her mom cooed, straightening the hair on his head affectionately. “Ope! Now I gotta wash my hands!”
Wonwoo chuckled, watching her go and taking over the stirring before glancing over his shoulder at Hallie.
Their eyes met as she grinned, waving with the peeler in her hand, Wonwoo waving back.
She’d brought him home for Thanksgiving, knowing her parents would love him- knowing it would go better than the past.
Because Wonwoo was the poster-child for “Good Boyfriend” and everything Hallie’s parents wanted for her.
“You can come here every Thanksgiving,” her mom continued, wiping her hands on a towel and standing beside Wonwoo once more. “The more help, the merrier!”
“Thank you so much,” Wonwoo said politely.
And Hallie shook her head, a bitterness in her throat she had to swallow down when she realized just how happy her mother was with Wonwoo.
Hallie’s father walked into the room, taking a deep, dramatic sniff like he always did when they made big meals.
“Wowza that smells good!” he exclaimed. “That you cooking all this in here, son?”
Wonwoo chuckled again, a little nervously this time as he motioned towards Hallie’s mother.
“It’s her, sir,” he replied- polite once again. “I’m just stirring.”
“Don’t sell yourself short!” her mother cried happily. “If you’re not stirring, it’s burning!”
Hallie glanced down at the next potato, feeling oddly out of place; like somehow she was the outsider-
“So, how’s the family business goin, Mr. Jeon?” her father asked, smacking a hand on the counter. “You guys looking to expand?”
She looked up at her boyfriend, watching him rub the back of his neck.
His family owned a bookstore- a very popular bookstore in the town they went to college- and since Hallie’s father had found out, he’d been all the more approving of Wonwoo
“Those are good family values he’s got!” he’d tell Hallie every time they spoke about it.
As if someone from a family whose values weren’t the best could never amount to anything-
“Ouch-”
Hallie slipped peeling the next potato, pricking her finger, thankfully catching it before it began to bleed.
She stepped away from the table, moving to the junk drawer for a bandaid just as Wonwoo answered her father.
“We are looking to expand actually,” he replied. “We’re thinking of opening a second location a few miles north of here.”
“Oh, we can visit!” her mother exclaimed happily.
And Hallie kept digging through the drawer, drowning out Wonwoo and her father’s laughter, doing her best to find that bandaid.

He's charming and endearing
And I'm comfortable
Evening came faster than Hallie had expected, most of her extended family now gone- heading home for the night.
It was just her, Wonwoo and her parents in the living room, watching the Thanksgiving parade her father had recorded, all having just finished their slices of pie.
“Snoopy!” her mother cried excitedly, pointing at the screen before looking at Wonwoo. “He’s my favorite.”
“Mine too,” Wonwoo replied, smiling softly.
Of course it is, Hallie thought before she could help it.
Feeling guilty almost instantly, she shifted against his arm resting politely behind her head. Their thighs were barely touching on the loveseat, Wonwoo being respectful as always.
Even though, Hallie suspected, if they were to stay the night, her parents probably wouldn’t even make them sleep in separate rooms-
There was something relieving about that, despite the slight burning in her throat again and that guilty rock still sitting in her stomach.
Her parents approved.
As her father peered over her mother’s head to ask Wonwoo more questions about the bookstore, Hallie looked at her half-eaten apple pie on the coffee table.
Wonwoo was charming and endearing, and Hallie should be…
Comfortable.

But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain
And it's 2AM and I'm cursing your name
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not fine, obviously something’s wrong.”
Sunwoo and Hallie were standing outside his dorm building, the November air sharp this late at night- 2:00am- wispy clouds lingering at their lips every time they spoke.
“I just don’t think that went well.”
Sunwoo’s voice was low and bitter as he said it, glancing down at the sidewalk as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
And Hallie couldn’t argue.
She’d known it was a risk, bringing Sunwoo home for Thanksgiving.
But she loved him- really loved him- and she’d stupidly hoped her parents could get past their own judgment and see that.
Hallie should’ve known better…
“So, Sunwoo, what are you going to school for?” her father had asked, a certain pinch between his eyebrows as he eyed Sunwoo’s untucked button-up and chain bracelet around his wrist.
“Music,” Sunwoo had replied, looking a little nervous. “Producing and song-writing.”
It was the wrong answer and Hallie bit her lip as she remembered the look on her father’s face- a flicker of surprise he masked quickly, but not quick enough.
“Got any careers lined up when you get out?” he’d asked, already knowing the answer.
“Not at the moment, no,” Sunwoo had shifted in his chair a little, Hallie bristling at all of it.
“You can’t set up a job in advance when it’s music, Dad,” she intervened before her father could say anything else. “They have to see all the work you do in college first; demos and shows and stuff.”
“Why pay for college at all?” he’d joked. “You can just make music in a garage somewhere, can’t you?”
“Don’t worry about my Dad,” Hallie insisted, cringing at the memory. “He can be a jerk when he wants to be-”
“It wasn’t just him,” Sunwoo replied, eyebrows furrowed, voice still low. “Your Mom didn’t like me either.”
“She did,” Hallie insisted, unable to look at him again as she lied. “She just…”
But she couldn’t find the words, remembering when her mother had pulled her away, making up some excuse about finding ice cream in the freezer…
“He smells like smoke,” her mother had hissed, shifting bags of frozen vegetables around so no one could hear her but Hallie. “Does he smoke?”
“No!” Hallie had said just a little too loudly, shaking her head.
And even though she could look at her mother, that didn’t mean it wasn’t a lie.
Sunwoo was working on it- had been slowly cutting back- but meeting her parents for the first time had him nervous. He’d smoked one cigarette outside his car before they’d left, spraying himself with too much Old Spice, and still that tobacco smell lingered a little on his clothes-
But she knew there was no use explaining all that; no use in telling her mother Sunwoo was working on it, because they both had already made up their minds.
Sunwoo had been polite, answered all their drilling questions, helped do the dishes, and the dog had slept beside him on the couch, head resting on his leg, whining when Sunwoo left.
But her parents had already made up their minds.
“Look, it doesn’t matter what they think, okay?” Hallie said, taking a step closer.
“Maybe this was a mistake,” Sunwoo said, expression slightly pained as he looked at her. “Maybe we shouldn’t-”
“Don’t fucking say that,” Hallie raised her voice before she could help it, a tightness in her throat at his words. “This isn’t about them, it’s about us-”
“They’re your family, Hal,” he insisted, also speaking louder, coming closer, scowling at her.
“Why does it matter?”
“Because they care about you!” Sunwoo said loudly just as it started sprinkling, raindrops tickling Hallie’s cheeks. “They’re your parents and raised you, and if they don’t approve-”
It didn’t make sense- since when did Sunwoo need approval from anyone?
But then, Hallie realized this wasn’t just about her Mom and Dad; it was about Sunwoo’s- the fact that his Mom and Dad didn’t care at all and never had-
“Listen,” she softened her voice. “Yes, I love them, and I’m grateful they care about me as much as they do. But they’re judgy, and they think they know what I want, but they’re wrong-”
Sunwoo’s eyes met hers, Hallie taking yet another step closer.
“What they want is not what I want,” she told him quietly. “And it never has been. I’m not an ‘apple-pie-life’ kind of girl; I want something different. I want this… you. Okay?”
Sunwoo ran a hand through his hair, glancing down at the sidewalk again before his eyes met hers once more.
“I don’t want things to be hard for you,” he admitted quietly, a rare vulnerability and softness in the words as he said it.
“Isn’t that for me to decide?” she teased gently, a small, tentative smile pulling on her lips.
Sunwoo scoffed under his breath, but he was smiling too, shoulders slumping a little.
“Don’t worry about them,” she said again, the rain coming down a little harder.
Hallie hesitated before leaning in, pressing her lips against Sunwoo’s in a lingering kiss, warmth spreading through her veins as always.
And when they pulled back, his eyes darted between her own before he sighed loudly.
“Fine.”

You're so in love that you act insane
And that's the way I loved you
Hallie was laying stomach-down on Sunwoo’s bed in his dorm, waiting for her boyfriend to get back from the showers.
She was scribbling some notes from the latest lecture she was watching on her laptop, kicking her feet back and forth as she listened to the professor.
Suddenly, there was a loud buzzing noise, and she looked over, expecting to see her phone lit up.
But instead it was Sunwoo’s- he’d left it behind while he showered- and Hallie was surprised to see the name “Mallory” at the top, a simple “Hi” written right below it.
“Mallory?” Hallie muttered under her breath.
She’d never heard that name before.
The phone buzzed again, and there was another message from Mallory: “Thanks again for letting me borrow your notes”.
It was a classmate, but this didn’t relieve Hallie like it should; instead her stomach twisted a little.
But she tried to talk herself down; tried to tell herself she was being silly, people in class exchanged notes and phone numbers all the time, and there was no reason for her to get jealous like she often did when-
The phone buzzed again: “Let me know if you wanna study together at that coffee place you told me about ;)”.
Hallie picked up the phone before she knew what she was doing, staring at the wink face that followed Mallory’s text, a heat spreading up her neck and making her ears ring.
Who was this, and why would she be asking Sunwoo to study together?
Why were they exchanging notes in the first place? And phone numbers?
When had they discussed coffee shops together?
The dorm door opened rather suddenly, Sunwoo running a towel through his messy hair, wearing his normal sweatpants and t-shirt, lifting one hand in a lazy wave.
But Hallie’s heart was still pounding a little too hard in her chest, his phone still gripped in her hand, and she was questioning him before she could talk herself out of it.
“Who is this?”
She held up the phone, Sunwoo’s eyebrows raising at her harsh tone before eyeing the screen.
“Who is who?” he asked, an edge to his voice already.
“Mallory,” Hallie replied, irritated by his tone.
“Mallory?” Sunwoo asked, sounding angry. “She’s just some girl in my science class; why are you looking at my phone?”
He swiped the device from her hand, looking down at the screen.
“Why’s she sending texts like that?” Hallie pointed at the phone. “Why’s she asking you on a study date?”
She knew she was acting insane; that despite his reputation of fuckboy around campus, he’d never cheated on her.
Not once.
But still she feared- still she worried- and this wasn’t the first fight they’d had about this.
“I let her borrow my notes…” he said, annoyed with the situation, shaking his head as he tossed his towel on the bed. “She knows I have a girlfriend-”
“Why were you guys talking about coffee shops, then?” Hallie snapped. “It sounds like you already have something set up-”
Sunwoo looked at her- affronted- but she crossed her arms in front of her chest.
If the roles were reversed, he would’ve accused her of the same.
They didn’t just get into fights about him cheating; Sunwoo was just as jealous as Hallie was.
“I brought coffee into class one day,” Sunwoo said slowly- evenly- like he was trying not to yell. “She asked me where I got it from, and I told her. That’s it.”
He glared down at the phone in his hand, shaking his head again.
“Mallory asked to borrow my notes, and I let her because I was being nice, but I think she had a hidden agenda, and this just proved it…” he exhaled heavily.
Those words seemed to deflate Hallie a bit, and she felt her whole body relaxing, a powerful wave of shame washing over her.
“What did you think?” Sunwoo asked, looking up at her once more, eyebrows still furrowed. “That I was gonna go cheat on you?”
There was hurt and frustration in his voice, and when Hallie didn’t answer right away, he sighed, tossing the phone with his towel on the bed.
“I wouldn’t do that,” he said. “How many times do we have to have this conversation?”
“It’s not just me,” Hallie defended before she could help herself. “You get jealous all the time-”
“‘Cause guys are assholes.”
“And girls are vultures.”
They were quiet again, staring at one another, Sunwoo still looking at her with slight anguish on his handsome features.
“Don’t you trust me?”
The words were like a punch to the gut, Hallie hanging her head a little.
“Yes,” she answered honestly, because it was true.
She did trust him, despite everything.
Hallie was surprised when she felt Sunwoo reach out, taking her hand and intertwining his fingers with her own.
He didn’t say anything- he didn’t have to- Hallie looking down at their hands before her eyes met his once more, chest fluttering at the expression on his face before she spoke barely above a whisper.
“I’m sorry.”

Breaking down and coming undone
It's a rollercoaster kind of rush
Hallie's head fell back on the pillows, Sunwoo pulling his lips from hers in a rush, his body caging her own, heat spreading through every one of her veins.
She tilted back, his lips pressed against the skin of her neck, an exhale slipping from her throat, Sunwoo’s hand running down her side.
They were alone- Jessica and Katie gone overnight, leaving Hallie’s dorm empty- and she’d been wanting this all day.
Sunwoo on top of her, their breaths heavy and loud in the silent room, her hands running across his smooth skin-
She curled her fingers, scratching down his back, Sunwoo gasping against her neck, groaning quietly before kissing further down.
Hallie was melting into the mattress, she was sure of it, Sunwoo melting with her, their bodies one as he moved, her breath caught somewhere in her chest, time stopping, her heart pounding-
She’d never felt so alive- so attracted- an urgency to this time together that always made it feel like it might be their last.
He lifted up, looking down at their bodies- no clothes, just them- watching his own movements, damp hair hanging in his eyes, Hallie looking at him, heartbeat in her ears, stomach in knots, wondering if she’d ever wanted someone as much as she’d wanted him-
Sunwoo looked up as if he’d heard her thoughts, dark eyes meeting hers, an intensity there she couldn’t look away from, an ache in her chest for him to be closer, Hallie reaching out without a thought.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she pulled him against her, his lips meetings hers like he’d wanted the same, the kiss messy and uncoordinated, but that was them- and Hallie was falling into it all over again, back arching off the bed as he moved a little faster, the two of them moaning together-
His fingers curled into the sheets, Hallie’s eyes slipped closed, nothing but heat and skin, a powerful rush spreading through her system as she lost herself in all of it-
In the movement of their bodies, in her hands sliding up his neck and threading into his hair, in the feeling she always got when they were like this-
Like there was no one in the world but them.
♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫
And I never knew I could feel that much
And that's the way I loved you
Coming down from the high, Hallie’s eyes were closed, little stars dancing behind her eyelids as she tried to catch her breath.
Sunwoo was collapsed on top of her, breathing hard as well, face buried in her neck as he held her, the heat of everything both comforting and overwhelming.
Together, their breaths evened out- slow and rhythmic- the comfortable silence stretching on as they laid there, Hallie’s eyes still closed, Sunwoo’s face still there against her neck-
“I love you,” he muttered, voice raspy and low like it always was after moments like this.
And Hallie’s chest exploded with warmth, stomach knotting up in the best of ways like every time he said that to her, her fingers sliding up and down his back.
“I love you, too,” she whispered.
She felt him smile against her skin before he was shifting around, grunting a bit before reaching beneath his leg.
Hallie opened her eyes just in time to see Sunwoo holding up a penguin squishmallow, turning to her with a raised eyebrow.
“You bought another one?”
She giggled, swiping the penguin away from him and sticking out her tongue.
“He’s limited edition!”
“Don’t you already have a penguin?”
“Yeah, but this one’s for the season!”
He smacked a hand to his forehead, shaking his head but this just made Hallie giggle harder, throwing her arms around his neck to bring him to her once more.
“I thought you said you loved me,” she teased, not letting him answer right away as she gave him a small lingering kiss.
And Sunwoo sighed like he was annoyed, kissing her back half-heartedly only to rub his nose against hers in that cute way he only did behind closed doors.
“I do.”

Part 1 | Part 2
Arya looked out the heavily tinted window of the car, leg bouncing excitedly as she took in the city lights shining brightly around them.
“Ah, I’m so excited,” she told her best friend, Somin, turning around to face the beautiful girl. “We haven’t been to the club in so long.”
“I know,” Somin was just as excited, smiling brightly before her eyes darted to Arya’s cheek. “Come here, you smudged your makeup again.”
“Whoops,” Arya giggled, leaning forward so her friend could fix it with her thumb. “Thanks. I swear, I don’t know how you deal with me.”
Somin laughed under her breath, eyes still trained on the smudge as she scrubbed gently at it. Arya tried to hold still, eyes on her friend’s face as she helped.
“It’s a hard job,” Somin replied with a dramatic sigh, pulling back and looking satisfied. “But I push through it to stay employed…”
“Yah!” Arya laughed loudly, shoving her arm. “Maybe I should talk to the staff about getting me a new makeup artist if it’s such a rough ride for you!”
“Psh,” Somin smirked through her own giggles, sweeping her hair over her shoulder. “I’m one of the best at JYP. Plus I’m the only one patient enough to deal with you.”
Arya snorted at the overly confident statement, but didn’t have much of an argument for it- she was indeed one of the best in the business.
It seemed crazy that just three years ago, Arya had been in South Korea on vacation with her family. Her mom was American, her Dad Korean, and they had brought her and her three siblings with them to meet some of the extended Park family who lived in Incheon.
It was her very first time coming to the country, and although she knew Korean and was taught so much about the culture by her father, it had still been wild to come to the country and actually see everything with her own eyes.
Her younger sister, Kaylee, had begged their father to let her and Arya explore Gangnam one Saturday night while the family was resting in the hotel. He had hesitated, but Arya had assured him that she would be responsible, and her mother had told him to live a little, and he’d ultimately agreed.
That night on the town had been amazing, eating foods her father had only cooked at home in America, going into all the foreign shops, and standing in long lines so they could get into the most popular clubs. They’d pulled back early, promising their father they’d be home by midnight, and stopped at a convenience store to make ramen. Kaylee had suggested they eat outside like the two of them always wanted to do together after seeing it in k-dramas. Arya had agreed, sitting with her sister at a rickety table on the sidewalk as people walked by them, struggling to use her chopsticks.
She hadn’t expected someone to come up to her, interrupting her goofy story about a guy she’d almost spilled her drink on in the club. She hadn’t expected Kaylee’s smile to fade as she pointed at a spot behind Arya, only for her to turn around and see a well-dressed, beautiful woman smiling brightly at her, fishing a business card out of her pocket.
“Hi, I’m from JYP Entertainment,” she’d said in Korean, and Arya had hoped there wasn’t any ramen seasoning in her teeth, grinning nervously. “You’re beautiful. We’d be honored if you’d come audition for our company.”
Arya still remembered how wide her eyes had gotten as she’d taken the business card with shaky fingers, nodding and thanking the woman, who’d given her another demure smile before walking off, heels clacking loudly on the sidewalk.
Kaylee had screamed first, yanking the card out of Arya’s hand, telling her she had to try out, how could she not?! She loved to dance, was good at it too, and the opportunity fell right into her lap. After getting over the initial shock, Arya had told her still-yelling sister she would talk to their parents and see if they would let her.
She’d never expected her parents to say yes, and she’d certainly never expected to audition and make it in. She’d never expected that she’d be halfway across the country from her family, training with other girls that were so beautiful, Arya often wondered how she’d snagged a spot.
She’d never expected them to ask her if she wanted to work solo instead of in a group just two years into her training, or that she’d become so successful in just a year, people actually enjoying her wacky personality and her American accent when she spoke in Korean.
Arya never knew that at 26 years old, she’d be a full-blown idol, on her way to some exclusive club for celebrities, with her makeup-artist-turned-best-friend laughing at her snarky jokes, both of them sitting in the back of a sleek, black car with Arya’s personal driver sitting in the front seat.
“Okay, you’re right, you are the only one patient enough to deal with me,” Arya admitted, making Somin laugh. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“They just don’t appreciate your hyperness like I do,” Somin replied with a grin. “I think it’s cute.”
But just because Arya was an idol, didn’t mean she was good at it.
She had a reputation of being too loud, saying things she shouldn’t, and not ever keeping still when she was getting styled.
“I just can’t sit in one place for that long,” Arya said with a sigh, running a hand through her curly hair. “It’s like four hours in that chair-”
Her phone started ringing, making her jump as the tone blasted loudly in the backseat of the car. It wasn’t her real phone; it was her work phone, and she quickly fished it out of her purse, dropping her lip balm and keys in the process.
“Shit,” she muttered, answering the phone and balancing the device on her shoulder. “Hi Siyeon!”
“Arya,” her manager sounded serious. “Are you almost to the club?”
“Uh…” she was searching blindly around the floor with her hands, looking for everything she’d dropped, fingers colliding with the lip balm next to her feet. “Yes?”
Somin turned on her phone flashlight, and Arya flashed her a thankful smile, spotting her Pikachu keychain that had landed under the seat in front of her.
“You sound like you’re not sure,” it wasn’t a question, and Arya sat up quickly, moving her hair out of her face as she glanced out the window. “You’re with Somin, right?”
“Yeah! Somin’s right here,” Arya assured Siyeon, rolling her eyes at her manager’s worry; for god sakes, she was old enough to go out by herself if she wanted. “Why?”
“I just… want to make sure someone is watching out for you,” Siyeon admitted with a sigh. “It’s been a long time since you’ve gone to a club…”
It was true; Arya was a lot busier than she was six months ago, which meant she didn’t have the time or energy to party anymore. But she had a break, finally, and as much as she’d wanted to sleep for a week, she’d decided a little bit of dancing for off-camera purposes would do wonders for her stress-level.
After all, dancing was why she’d become an idol in the first place.
“I’ll be fine,” Arya tried to keep the bite out of her voice, but it was difficult; she didn’t like being babysat. “It’s just the club, and an idol club, too! What’s the worst that could happen?”
Somin giggled at that, and Arya pressed her lips together to suppress her own laughter; they both knew damn well the “worst” that could happen.
“Don’t even say that to me, Arya,” Siyeon said, chuckling along with them as her tone lost some of its severity. “I’m talking about you hooking up.”
Arya burst out laughing, making Somin giggle harder, seemingly able to hear Siyeon on the other line.
“Yah!” Arya exclaimed, adjusting a little in her seat as she held the phone in her ear. “It’s not my fault all these idols are so goddamn hot. Besides, JYP wants us to be friends with the other idols and trainees, so you know, we just get to talking, and-”
“Yeah, be friends to support each other,” Siyeon cut her off, and Arya could hear her rolling her eyes. “Not… whatever the hell it is you and Yugyeom got up to-”
Arya snickered, covering her mouth so her manager couldn’t hear.
Yugyeom… ah, she missed him.
“Aish, it’s one guy,” she said after a moment. “And Yugyeom and I stopped after we almost got caught, so-”
“One guy, my ass, Arya,” Siyeon said bluntly, and Arya snapped her mouth shut, trying not to laugh again. “I’m not even sure about the trainees, but Hyunjin?”
“Okay, no, I did not know he was only 21,” Arya quickly needed to defend herself, cheeks burning with embarrassment as Somin broke out into hysterics. “And nothing happened we were just flirting-”
Hwang Hyunjin… Arya could’ve sworn he was a siren he was so good-looking, and when they’d met, she’d really meant to just talk to him.
But he was too flirty, and she was a sucker for a pretty face, and their less-than-innocent banter had been noticed by a couple of the staff members. Siyeon had practically yanked her by the arm, telling her he was barely twenty-one and did she have no shame?
Which, honestly, she didn’t.
Arya didn’t hook up nearly as bad as Siyeon made it seem- seriously, her manager made it sound like she was running a one-woman brothel- but she would be lying if she said she wasn’t a bit boy-crazy.
She’d had a total of three boyfriends throughout her two years as a trainee, and a couple guys she’d made out with in secret in the dorms. When she debuted, she’d been much more careful, but Yugyeom had been too hard to resist and both of them had an arrangement; no relationship, just fun, casual, kinky sex. And it had been great while it lasted, but after they’d gotten too adventurous and Jinyoung caught them half-naked in a storage closet, they’d had to call it quits.
What a shame…
“Just please be careful,” Siyeon insisted, and Arya could hear the exasperation in her voice. “We’re literally starting a new project in three days, and the last thing I need is a scandal…”
“I know,” her smile faded as she sighed. “I’m going to be careful, I promise…”
To be honest, it had been a while since Arya had done anything like that. She knew how reckless it was, had seen the scandal stories online that would ruin idols’ careers. She knew a boyfriend wasn’t worth the risk, and knew that being famous meant you made a lot of sacrifices, and this was one of them.
There were no relationships in the idol world.
She heard Siyeon exhale again, and she knew it was a sign that her manager felt bad; Siyeon was harsh when she spoke, but Arya knew how much she cared, and appreciated her more than she probably knew.
“I know you will,” Siyeon admitted, and she lowered her voice even though Arya was sure she was alone. “So I’ll let you go, but Arya if you do find someone…”
She paused.
“Just try not to get caught.”
With that, Siyeon hung up, and Arya’s mouth dropped open, staring at the “Call Ended” flashing across her phone screen.
“What?” Somin asked as Arya looked up at her. “Did she get mad?”
“No… she…” Arya chuckled in disbelief, finally locking her phone. “She told me if I find someone, just don’t get caught.”
“What?” Somin looked just as shocked. “So she basically gave you her blessing?”
“Uh yeah…” a slow, mischievous grin spread across Arya’s face as she stared back at her best friend. “I think she just did.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Okay, you’ve got your phone?” Somin asked as they climbed carefully out of the car, the driver graciously opening the door for them. “Keys?”
“Yes,” Arya laughed at her friend, slipping on her face mask as she let it sit under her chin. “Do you?”
Her best friend was much more notorious for forgetting that stuff than she was, and Somin giggled, holding up her purse.
“Already checked.”
Arya beamed, slipping her mask over her mouth.
“Bye Kyungseok!” she waved at her driver, who gave her a closed mouth smile- the most emotion she ever got out of him- lifting his hand in farewell. “I’ll call you when we’re ready to go!”
“Yes ma’am,” he replied gruffly, bowing slightly at her. “I’ll have my phone.”
“You don’t have to call me ma’am,” Arya let her arm drop to her side, shaking her head with a laugh. “Really…”
He didn’t respond, but the smile was still on his face as he climbed back into the car.
“Aish, I don’t know why he insists on the formalities,” she said to Somin as the two of them walked towards the door of the club. “He’s been driving me around for a year now… We’re like friends!”
“It’s his job, Arya,” Somin replied with a laugh, moving her beautiful hair over her shoulder as she spoke. “Not everyone can be besties with you like me.”
She was just kidding around, and Arya shoved her lightly before reaching out for the door handle. Somin went in first, both of them only making it a couple steps into the club before they were met with a bouncer, large and beefy, in front of a velvet rope blocking their entrance.
“Who are you?”
The man had his arms crossed in front of his chest, an eyebrow raised as he looked at Somin. Arya was standing behind her, shoving her face mask into her purse, but looked up at the harshness of the bouncer’s tone.
“She’s with me,” Arya stepped forward, scowling a little as she looked up at the man. “Park Arya.”
The look of recognition on his face would never be something Arya could get used to, but she couldn’t help but feel a little smug after the way he’d just spoken to Somin.
“Ah, yes,” his face was stoic once more, turning to unhook the velvet rope. “Go on.”
“Yeah, thanks,” Arya said somewhat bitterly, grabbing Somin’s hand as they walked hurriedly past him.
“Arya,” Somin giggled when they were out of earshot, the girls interlocking pinkies as they maneuvered through the throngs of people. “You didn’t have to be so defensive-”
“No, that’s so stupid,” Arya exclaimed, spotting the bar and immediately turning left. “Why shouldn’t you be allowed in?”
“I’m not an idol,” Somin replied. “This is an exclusive club.”
“Yeah, whatever, he didn’t need to talk to you like that,” Arya said with a scowl. “And you’re pretty enough to be an idol anyway.”
It was true; Arya thought Somin might be one of the prettiest girls she’d ever seen. With almond-shaped eyes, a delicate face, and beautiful, pale, flawless skin, Arya often wondered why the girl hadn’t become an idol herself. But her passion- makeup and clothes- fell behind the cameras, and though she’d been scouted, she’d never taken up the offer.
“Oh stop…”
Somin’s protest was half-hearted and Arya grinned just as they broke through the crowd, the large bar area right in front of them.
“Don’t argue,” Arya said as she pulled them to two empty barstools, plopping hard into her seat.
“I won’t bother,” Somin replied with a laugh as she sat down next to her, taking her pinky from Arya’s.
“Let’s get some drinks,” Arya grinned before catching the bartender’s eye.
The bartender waltzed over with a bright smile on her face, leaning her elbows on the table as she looked between the two of them.
“What can I get you lovely ladies tonight?”
She had to lean in close to be heard over the loud, booming bass of the song that was currently playing, and her glittery makeup was dazzling in the flashing lights of the club.
“Soju?” Arya looked over at Somin, who was already nodding enthusiastically, making her laugh. “Yeah, okay, two bottles of Soju, please.”
“You got it.”
She walked away, her long ponytail flipping behind her, and Arya turned around, resting her back and elbows on the bar behind her as she checked out the rest of the club. It was huge, with high ceilings, and two stories, a balcony overlooking the dance floor.
The dance floor itself was large too, jam-packed with high class, beautiful people that made Arya feel a little out of place as she watched them interact with one another.
They were all so...shiny.
Superhumans, other-worldly, too gorgeous to be real, and Arya knew that she was supposed to belong here, supposed to be part of this crowd, but glancing at her best friend- who was much more naturally beautiful, with flushed cheeks, a normal amount of makeup, and flyaway hairs that blew slightly in the A/C- she couldn’t help but feel like the two of them just…
Didn’t belong.
“Two bottles of Soju, Arya!”
She whipped around, banging her knees on the bar and cringing as she faced the bartender once more.
“Thank you,” Somin took the bottles, both her and the bartender giggling at Arya’s clumsiness.
“So you are as clumsy as they make you seem on TV,” the bartender teased, scrunching her nose as if Arya was an adorable puppy. “Too cute. Let me know if you guys need anything else.”
With that she was gone, Arya smiling weakly at her as she rubbed at her knees.
“That’s still so weird,” she said, taking one of the bottles after Somin unscrewed the cap for her. “When they know me like that…”
“It is, isn’t it?” Somin agreed, taking a long drink out of her own bottle before speaking again. “Is it cool?”
“Yeah, it can be,” Arya smiled before taking her first swig, welcoming the burn of alcohol down her throat. “The fans are usually really nice, I honestly don’t deserve them. For the most part, everyone’s respectful, and you meet a lot of interesting people along the way... the only thing that sucks is not getting laid.”
Somin snorted into her bottle before taking another shot, Arya giggling at her own vulgar joke.
“Oh my god, you just have to not get caught, like Siyeon said,” Somin told her. “You’re just a little too impulsive.”
“Ah, you’re right,” Arya sighed dramatically, letting her arms drop harshly onto the counter. “I just… hot guys, Somin. They are my weakness.”
“You have no self-control,” Somin teased, smirking before tipping her head back for her next sip of Soju.
“I do,” Arya argued. “Remember JB? That night we were flirting and I could’ve made a move and I didn’t?”
“Yes,” Somin nodded, grinning mischievously. “I’ll give you that; he’d be hard to resist. But still…”
“I know, I know…” Arya giggled, rolling her eyes playfully. “Just know you have it easy; you can date or sleep with whoever you want.”
“Hmmm…”
Somin looked thoughtful as the two of them took a simultaneous drink, now halfway through their bottles.
“That’s not necessarily true…”
“What do you mean?” Arya asked curiously, tilting her head slightly to the side. “Someone getting mad because you do makeup for a living?”
“No, no, nothing like that,” Somin giggled, glancing at Arya for a moment before sighing. “I actually had a… situation, sort of. Right when I started working in the industry.”
“What?!” Arya’s eyes widened, voice just a little too loud, even with the music, as she stared at Somin. “What do you mean a situation?!”
The girls had only been best friends for about a year; and even though they had clicked almost instantly after their very first conversation, there were still plenty of life stories to tell.
Apparently this was one of them.
“It wasn’t that bad…” Somin was smiling at Arya’s dramatics, swooshing the contents of her bottle around absentmindedly. “I just… My first job I ever had was at Starship Entertainment, and I ended up, uh…”
Somin hesitated, her cheeks turning bright red and making Arya laugh out loud.
“Oh my god, Somin,” she spoke in a hushed voice, leaning closer. “What the hell did you do?”
“I kinda sorta…” she glanced around, but no one was giving them the time of day, so she turned back to Arya with a guilty smile. “Slept with one of the guys there… right before they debuted.”
“WHAT?!”
“SHH!” Somin clapped a hand over Arya’s mouth, giggling with widened eyes. “Don’t be so loud-”
“Ah, right, sorry,” Arya nodded quickly as Somin lowered her hand, keeping her voice as quiet as she could. “So you actually, like…”
She trailed off, and Somin nodded, face somehow more red.
“Wait, so was it just one time or…?”
Somin took a long drink of soju before answering, but the smirk pulling on the corners of her lips was a dead giveaway.
“Multiple times?!” Arya hissed excitedly, following her best friend’s lead and taking another quick drink before continuing. “Was it good? Did you guys get caught?”
“Yes, definitely yes, and… no, thank god,” Somin answered, laughing again at Arya’s reactions. “I got a better offer with JYP, and it was getting a bit risky, especially after he debuted, so we decided to cut it off.”
“Ah, so it was like my Yugyeom situation…” Arya nodded, still keeping quiet as she sat back. “What a shame… Have you talked to him since?”
“Nah,” Somin brushed it off, but her eyes darted away from Arya’s as she took another drink.
“...was he really that good?” Arya asked, watching her friend closely.
Somin pressed her lips together, nodding slowly as she placed her empty bottle on the bar.
“Still the best I’ve ever had.”
Arya nearly choked on the Soju she was finishing off, the bottle hitting the counter a little harder than necessary.
“Whoa, forreal? The best?” she asked in disbelief. “Have you had other guys since him?”
“Oh yeah,” Somin answered nonchalantly, smirking again as she looked at Arya. “But no one’s been able to beat him.”
“Wow…” Arya was impressed, letting out a small chuckle. “Who is it? You said he debuted?”
“Yeah,” Somin nodded. “It’s-”
“Excuse me.”
They both turned around, eyebrows raised in slight surprise at the male voice interrupting their conversation. He was incredibly handsome, with shorter, dark brown hair, a dazzling face, and a charming smile that looked a little too good to be real.
“Yes?” Somin and Arya said together, giggling at their accidental jinx before looking back at the man.
“Would you like to dance?”
He held his hand out to Somin, who’s eyes widened , cheeks dusted with pink as his gaze locked with hers.
“Oh…” she was incredibly surprised, making Arya smile; her best friend was way too damn cute. “I mean… sure…”
The man’s smile grew, and he looked legitimately pleased she had said yes, going from smooth charmer to puppy-face.
“Okay.”
He closed his fingers around hers as she placed her hand in his outstretched palm, and she stood up. She giggled nervously, and the man laughed too, turning towards the dance floor and tearing his eyes from her face.
“Bye Arya!” Somin waved excitedly, and Arya bounced in her seat a little, beaming at her friend.
“Bye!” she said back, holding up her phone. “Call me if you need me, okay?”
“I will!”
Then they were gone, swallowed by the sea of people that seemed to be getting thicker and thicker as the night went on, leaving Arya completely alone.
A few minutes went by as she slid her empty drink back and forth between her hands on the bar counter, enjoying the few moments to be alone with her thoughts; it didn’t happen to her very often.
“Need another bottle?”
Arya jumped, turning around to see the same bartender smiling gently at her, wiggling a bottle of Soju in her hands.
“Yes,” she answered with a small laugh, taking the bottle carefully. “Thank you. You can just add it to my tab.”
“Oh it’s free,” the bartender replied with a grin. “The guy over there paid for it already.”
“What?” Arya almost dropped the drink as she was twisting off the cap, eyes wide as she looked at the bartender. “Someone bought it for me?”
“Yeah,” the girl laughed, nodding to the right towards the middle of the bar. “Judging by the way I’ve caught him looking at you three times tonight, I’d say he thinks you're cute.”
Arya followed the bartender’s line of vision, locking eyes with a handsome stranger, who smiled slightly when he caught her looking.
He was… really cute. And looked vaguely familiar...
“Oh,” was all she managed to say, her smile much brighter as she stared at him for another second before finally looking away. “Uh, well, will you tell him thank you and uh-”
What the hell did she want to say?
“Want me to tell him you think he’s hot?” the bartender asked teasingly, and Arya turned so fast she thought her neck snapped, letting out a nervous giggle.
“No, no, no,” she said, holding her hands up and shaking them profusely. “No need- really, that’s corny, anyway- I didn’t even say-”
“I’ll be back.”
Arya reached her hands out, but it was useless, the bartender already out of arm’s reach as she moved back to the mystery man. She fought the urge to bury her face in her hands, instead tipping her head back and taking a long, long drink of Soju.
She’d only seen the man for a moment, but it had been all she needed really; it was enough for her to tell that he had her attention.
Arya actively avoided looking in the man’s direction, nursing her Soju in both hands as she rested her elbows on the bar counter. She wondered if the bartender was just joking, and maybe she would just tell the man Arya said thank you and leave it at that.
Unlikely
Arya sighed, wondering why this was such a big deal; it was just a dude at a bar.
Because you usually make the first move
She couldn’t argue with that; she was too obvious with her emotions, too accidentally blunt with her words to not be the one to let it slip when she was attracted to a guy. She usually had the steering wheel and she was happy driving.
Even with all the clubbing she used to do, she’d never had a man buy her a drink, too busy snatching up someone else off the dance floor.
It was unnerving.
“Hi.”
Arya was startled again- why was she so jumpy?- the bottom of her bottle dropping with a loud clunk onto the counter as she turned to the voice.
It was the mystery man.

COMPLETE
Ana was walking quickly, face shadowed by white as she breathed out against the cold, her hands stuffed into the pockets of her coat.
Eyes on her feet, she concentrated on not slipping upon the ice and snow that decorated the narrow sidewalks of the small town, a crunch beneath her boots with each careful step.
But she paused when she saw the familiar jagged crack in the concrete- an imperfection in the otherwise smooth, even slabs of the sidewalk- and automatically, Ana was glancing up.
Turning Page Cafe
She smiled, the expression stiff on her ice-cold face.
It had been a long time since Ana had visited this coffee shop.
Even for nostalgia’s sake, it was much too cold to linger, so with another deep exhale she stepped quickly to the door, reaching out to pull on the old, metal handle.
A bell rang loud and clear to announce her arrival, but the sound was still nearly swallowed by the chatter surrounding Ana on all sides, almost every table filled with people.
It was a busy day in the cafe.
The barista still noticed her, craning his neck to see as he held a hand up to wave quickly.
“Welcome in!”
Ana smiled, waving back and nodding in acknowledgement.
“Thank you!”
The line wasn’t terribly long- only three people before herself- and Ana stepped in behind them, shoulders relaxing in the wonderful warmth of the small shop.
She glanced around, feeling a small skip in her chest.
The familiar scent of fresh-brewed coffee, the subtle hint of apple and cinnamon pastries lingering in the air…
The paint-chipped, wooden bookshelves leaned up against the wall, old, overused books stuffed upon the shelves to full capacity…
The fireplace in the back corner, a fire always burning, people gathered around it, occasionally stretching their fingers towards the heat to keep warm…
Ana remembered it all.
She stepped forward in line as it moved, smiling again.
With a warmth in her chest only reminiscence could bring about, her eyes darted around the cafe.
A couple huddled close across the table, empty mugs, coats hanging on the backs of their chairs, telling Ana they’d been there for a while.
A giggling child with melted marshmallow stuck to her upper lip, two small hands holding a cup of hot chocolate as she talked animatedly to her father.
A woman with her hair in a bun, glasses reflecting the screen of her laptop, headphones in to block out the noise as she typed fiercely on her keyboard, hot tea long forgotten on the table.
And then- at a single table near the window at the front of the cafe- Ana saw a man reading a book, holding the pages open one-handed, bringing a coffee mug slowly to his lips with the other…
There was an immediate swoop of her stomach, Ana doing a double-take, eyes lingering on the man’s handsome face-
The line shifted, and she quickly shook her head, moving forward as the person in front of her stepped up to the counter to order.
But then she was looking at the man again, analyzing his face, taken with him, though she wasn’t sure why…
He glanced up as if sensing her gaze, and once again, Ana’s stomach swooped like she’d missed a step on the stairs, eyes locking with his beautiful, dark brown ones.
And for a moment, time stopped, Ana swallowing hard as her gaze lingered on the man’s perfect features, her lips parting ever so slightly-
She… recognized him.
Ana laughed, her mug warming the palms of her hands as she smiled, and the man smiled right back. Her eyes darted to the title of his book- Emma by Jane Austen- before she was looking up at him once more, awed by how good-looking he was-
“Ma’am?”
Ana jumped, shaking her head once again and tearing her eyes from the man.
“Yes?”
“Are you ready to order?”
The barista was smiling, a knowing twinkle in his eyes as they darted from her to the man at the small table behind her.
“Ah- yes, I’m sorry.”
She stepped forward, surprised by the light racing of her heart, feeling slightly distracted as she put in her usual order.
Ana paid, stepping off to the side to wait, slipping her money back into her purse.
“Here you are, Ana.”
Another barista- a young girl with pink streaks in her blonde hair- was handing her a white, paper mug.
Fast service as always.
“We’ll have to make a fresh batch of the lemon bars,” the girl said, looking apologetic. “Do you mind waiting? Otherwise, we can get you something else-”
“Oh no,” Ana waved her off, smiling warmly. “I don’t mind waiting. I was going to stay for a bit anyway.”
“Great!” the girl smiled brightly. “It’ll be about twenty minutes or so- we’ll let you know when they’re ready.”
“Thank you.”
Ana took a careful sip of her coffee- a caramel macchiato, just the way she liked it- moving to the only free table left in the cafe.
A table that just so happened to be near the mysterious, handsome man.
Resting her elbows on the table, she took another slow drink of her coffee, relishing in the wonderful taste, letting the hot liquid warm her insides.
But her eyes were wandering once more, almost as if beyond her control, and Ana was looking at the man again, his own gaze moving carefully along the pages of his book.
Closer now, Ana could see him a little better; the almond shape of his eyes, the curve of his perfect lips, the smooth skin of his hands and the bent pages of his book that had obviously been read many times before…
For the second time, the man seemed to sense her gaze, looking up as if she’d called his name.
And as his eyes met hers, Ana’s mind flittered with memories- like flipping pages in a photo album- and she fell into them all, still gripping tight to her warm cup of coffee...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ana’s drink sat carefully between her palms, and she tore her eyes from the handsome man near the window, trying to ignore the slight giddiness in her chest.
He was cute- more than cute- with a handsome face, an air of intelligence, and a great taste in books.
Emma.
Ana had always loved that one.
She glanced at the cafe counter, watching the bustling baristas as they laughed and talked together, making coffee and calling out the names of their customers.
Ana took another slow sip of coffee, jumping slightly in surprise when she saw a man standing beside her table.
“Sorry-”
She looked up, a jolt in her chest when she realized it was the man by the window, his book now tucked beneath his arm, half-drank coffee still sitting in his hand.
“I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“You’re fine,” Ana giggled, shaking her head quickly. “I was just… spacing out…”
His smile was just as good-looking as the rest of him, and he shifted from one foot to the other, tilting his head ever-so-slightly.
“I’m sorry, I just-”
He hesitated as Ana looked back at him.
“My name’s Jinyoung, have we… Have we met before?”
Ana laughed again, fingers tightening around her coffee, an odd tingling of her insides- something like recognition…
“I’m not sure,” she admitted softly, her eyes darting along his face. “But you look familiar…”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey you two!”
Ana and Jinyoung tore their eyes from one another, the barista looking amused as he smiled back at them.
“We’re closing up soon; would you like any of these leftover pastries? We’re about to throw them out.”
Ana was surprised, her eyes darting to the clock on the wall.
Hours had passed.
Jinyoung had come to ask if they knew one another nearly four hours ago, and when he’d asked to sit down and she’d said yes, they’d just… started talking.
Books, jobs, hobbies, family…
They’d discussed them all.
Jinyoung checked his watch, his eyebrows raising as he saw the time himself.
“Wow-” he chuckled, eyes meeting hers once more. “I didn’t realize how long we’d been talking…”
“Me either,” she admitted, laughing lightly, gaze lingering on his.
Jinyoung had been so easy to talk to.
“I think I’m alright,” Jinyoung said to the barista, smiling politely. “I appreciate the offer though; I’m afraid I’d eat all the pastries if I brought them home.”
“No wife or kids to feed?” the barista joked, and Ana’s eyes widened just slightly.
She certainly hoped not.
Jinyoung was laughing again, pulling his coat on and shaking his head.
“Just me,” he replied.
The barista turned to Ana just as she was sighing quietly in relief, motioning towards the front counter.
“What about you, dear? Anything you want?”
Ana smiled kindly, shaking her head as well.
“Bring them home,” she said. “I’m sure you’ll enjoy them just as much.”
The barista laughed, nodding and walking back to the kitchen, Ana and Jinyoung facing one another once more.
“I have to go,” he told her regretfully. “Could we… see each other again?”
Ana’s insides twisted slightly in excitement at the curious look on his face, and she pulled her coat on as well, nodding quickly.
“Yes,” her voice was soft. “I’d… really like that.”
A small smile pulled on the corners of his lips, and Ana smiled right back, watching as he reached into the inside pocket of his coat.
“Here-”
He handed her a business card, Ana a little shocked as she took it slowly.
“I’m just a book editor-” Jinyoung told her, chuckling at the look on her face. “They make all of us carry these around.”
Ana giggled, spotting his name and phone number in the middle of the card before tucking it into her purse.
“Thank you,” she said. “I’ll call you.”
Jinyoung’s head was tilting a little- something she’d noticed he did when he was intrigued- before he was zipping his coat.
“Please do.”
Their eyes lingered for another moment as he tucked his book back beneath his arm, neither wanting to leave but knowing they needed to go…
And then- with one more nod of his head, a subtle smile still there on his handsome face- Jinyoung slowly walked away...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ana followed behind Jinyoung, hands stuffed into the pockets of her coat, eyes lingering on the dark brown strands of his hair…
It was their first date.
“I think you’ll like this a lot.”
He had turned around to look at her, a sparkling excitement in his eyes despite the calmness of his voice, turning on another street in a small town Ana hadn’t visited before.
“It’s the place I was telling you about…”
He faced forward once more, Ana sorting through her memories, trying to remember the many conversations they’d shared in that cafe just two weeks ago.
He could be taking her to a coffee shop he’d mentioned, where the drinks were named after classic artists and there was a piano for anyone to play.
He could be bringing her to a movie- though admittedly, she wasn’t sure where a theater would be in such a small town- taking her to a showing of one of the Christmas movies he’d been telling her he was interested in.
But she stopped as he paused outside a set of large, double doors, turning to look at her with a bright smile.
“This is the bookstore.”
And with a gasp Ana remembered that conversation too- the bookstore Jinyoung had told her about when she’d told him how much she loves to read; especially the old stuff. The one he’d told her he’d found just last year, with a local owner that lives on the second floor and the biggest classic literature collection he’d ever seen.
Ana couldn’t think of a more perfect place for a first date.
“Come on…”
Jinyoung reached forward, taking her hand in his, and when their fingers intertwined, there was a warmth that spread through Ana’s veins.
“Let me show you around.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“That was so good!” Ana exclaimed.
Jinyoung laughed beside her, smile bright and crinkling at the corners of his eyes.
“It really was,” he replied, nodding quickly in agreement. “I didn’t expect it.”
It was their two month anniversary, and the nights were getting warmer, their breaths no longer whispy and visible in the late night air.
They’d spent the evening at a small downtown restaurant they’d stumbled upon on one of their many evenings spent together. The food had always been good, but they’d never ordered a dessert until tonight, feeling celebratory.
“I thought it was better than the food,” Ana admitted, giggling a little as they turned onto her street.
“Me too,” Jinyoung sounded a little surprised, chuckling lightly. “I didn’t expect a simple slice of chocolate cake to be so…”
“Delectable?” Ana finished.
“Yes,” he laughed. “Great word. Delectable.”
A comfortable silence fell between them, their steps in perfect synchronicity as they approached Ana’s apartment building.
Walking slowly up the stairs, they stopped at the front doors, pausing at the top step, eyes locking with one another’s.
Jinyoung reached forward, gently tucking her hair behind her ear, and then his gaze was wandering to her lips and Ana’s eyes were already slipping closed.
He leaned forward, kissing her chastely, his hand sliding slowly to the back of her neck, palm warm against her skin. Turning their heads, they deepened the kiss, and Ana was melting into it as always, her body alive as she wrapped her arms around him.
Their lips moving slowly but wonderfully, the air was gone from Ana’s lungs as usual, the feel of kissing Jinyoung unlike anything else, and she wondered how after two months things could still feel like the first time.
They pulled back gently, foreheads resting together for only a moment before Jinyoung was pulling back, their eyes fluttering open.
“I had a great time with you,” he said softly, voice barely above a whisper.
“Me too.”
And they smiled at one another, a glowing in her chest, a closeness to him she’d never experienced with anyone else…
“As always,” she added as an afterthought.
Jinyoung chuckled, sliding his palm to her face and cupping her cheek, giving her a small lingering kiss.
“Yes,” he whispered. “As always.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ana’s fingers ran through Jinyoung’s hair, his soft sigh against her lips taking the breath from her lungs...
His hands beneath her shirt, hot and burning against her skin, holding her close as they stumbled around her dark apartment...
She’d wanted this for so long- wanted him- the feel of their lips moving perfectly together, quick and impatient, heavy breaths loud in the silent air of her bedroom...
The dip of the mattress as she fell upon her bed, the feel of Jinyoung on top of her, their lips never leaving one another’s, his hand roaming down the curve of her sides as if memorizing every detail of her body…
Clothes upon the floor, skin on skin, Ana still unable to breathe, holding Jinyoung close, his own breath hitching at the feel of their bodies so close together…
The impatient kisses upon her neck, the sounds that slipped from her lips, Jinyoung moving so perfectly above her, his fingers curling into the sheets as he too came a little undone…
Messy hair between her fingers, Ana’s eyes squeezed shut, Jinyoung’s soft moans in her ear…
A love in her she’d never felt with anyone else but him- the way he looked at her as if he felt the same…
As if what was between them was different…
Was real…
Ana held him close, her eyes shut as she revelled in the moment- in making love with the only man who’d ever made her feel like this…
Made her feel like soulmates were real…
Four months together and she’d never felt so alive.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ana looked around, smiling at the familiar apartment.
Jinyoung’s apartment.
Carefully, she set the box in her arms down on the kitchen counter, catching a glimpse of her many boxes of tea and a few of her favorite mugs.
She couldn’t believe she was moving in.
There was shuffling behind her, and she turned around, watching Jinyoung place a heavy box of books upon his couch with a small sigh.
Standing up straight once more, he grinned at her, making his way to the small kitchen.
He wrapped his arms around her from behind, holding her against him, and she sank into his body, smiling softly.
Ana’s eyes swept across the open area, taking in the matching leather couches Jinyoung had owned since she’d met him, the small reading lamp on a side table, the TV with a remote upon the coffee table, and three tall bookshelves on the opposite wall near the fireplace.
“I just realized…” Ana said thoughtfully, Jinyoung placing a kiss on the side of her head. “Where will I put all my books?”
Because of course, his shelves were completely stuffed.
Jinyoung paused, laughing lightly before leaning forward, kissing her again gently on the cheek.
“Good point…”
He whispered in her ear, holding her a little closer as Ana’s eyes slipped closed.
“But we can make it work.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ana leaned against the railing of the small boat they’d taken on the river, her hair blowing in the autumn wind.
Night had come quickly, the water dark and glassy beneath them, but there were lights upon the sails, reflecting beautifully against the subtle waves.
It was calming- a peace only isolation in the waters could bring- and Ana breathed in the cool, fresh air of the sea.
“Ana.”
She turned at the sound of her name, Jinyoung’s familiar voice pulling her attention to him as always.
Three years together they were celebrating on that boat, and yet every time she looked at him, it was as if seeing him for the first time.
The warm glow of the lights were beautiful upon his skin, his hair a little windswept, pulled up from his forehead. He’d dressed well tonight, with a white button-up shirt, his sleeves rolled to the elbows and a nice pair of black pants…
Ana had dressed up as well, her midnight blue dress dancing against her ankles in the wind, Jinyoung’s gaze wandering up and down her figure just as she’d done to him.
But when her eyes met his own, she was surprised by the flicker of nervousness there, Jinyoung closing the distance between them, stopping just in front of her.
“What’s wrong?” she asked.
But Jinyoung only shook his head, a small smile on his face, staring back at her as he dropped to one knee.
Ana gasped automatically, her heart skipping a beat in her chest, Jinyoung chuckling nervously as he swallowed hard, looking up at her.
“Ana… you’re my absolute best friend… the love of my life I’d never expected to meet…”
His eyes shone in the lights off the sails, a lump in Ana’s throat she couldn’t suppress, fingers folding together as she stared back at him.
“I never knew in the coffee shop that day I would find you,” he went on. “This smart, beautiful, quirky, amazing woman… I’d gone there on a whim- just to try something new- and I’m so glad I did…”
He reached into his pocket, pulling out a black, velvet box, a brightness in his eyes he’d had since the day she’d met him.
A brightness in his eyes for her.
“You’re my everything,” he admitted softly, the sincerity in his words pulling tightly on her insides. “And I’d… I’d like to spend forever with you, Ana. Will you marry me?”
Ana could barely see, her eyes filling with tears as he opened the box, revealing a simple diamond ring, showing her once again how much he paid attention-
How much he knew her preferences and everything else about her…
Inside and out.
“Yes,” she whispered, holding out her hand, Jinyoung’s smile broadening, crinkling at his eyes as always. “I- Yes, of course I’ll marry you.”
And together they laughed, Jinyoung slipping the ring on her finger- a perfect match- before he was standing up, their arms wrapping around one another…
Holding tight.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jinyoung held tight to Ana’s hand, the two of them walking quickly through another small town they’d yet to visit in New England, something they’d probably be doing for the rest of their lives.
She glanced down at their intertwined fingers, her diamond shining in the morning sunlight, a wedding band beside it, Jinyoung’s own wedding ring on his opposite hand.
Their year engaged had been a blur, blending with the wedding that’d been so much planning for one evening, but beautiful nonetheless, their “I do’s” followed by tears Ana hadn’t expected to shed at the altar like she had.
Congratulations from family and friends, a reception filled with dancing, laughter and too many drinks, and a night spent together just the two of them, their first night as husband and wife, tangled beneath the sheets, bodies warm and connected as always, breaths mingling as one…
And then they’d left that next morning, going away for their Honeymoon, a bed and breakfast at the tip of New England, a week’s worth of days dedicated to exploring all the area had to offer…
Time spent together, which was all they ever wanted- needed...
“Look.”
Jinyoung pointed forward, Ana following his line of vision, smiling when she spotted an old, rickety sign hanging above a small shop up ahead.
The Coffee Nook
A bookstore coffee shop; their favorite.
“We have to go in,” she said with a smile, and Jinyoung chuckled softly.
“Of course.”
Together, they went up the stairs, and he pushed the door open for them as they stepped inside, pausing to look around.
A cafe station on their right, and many overflowing bookshelves on their left, they sighed quietly, eyes meeting once more.
Their happy place.
Jinyoung led the way, his fingers still intertwined with her own, the two of them waiting at the counter as they peeked into the bakery display.
“Look-”
He pointed inside, Ana’s eyes darting to the rectangular, yellow pastries, their tops dusted with powdered sugar.
“Lemon bars,” he smiled at her. “Your favorite.”
The barista came out from the kitchen, quickly taking their order as Jinyoung reached for his wallet to pay.
“These lemon bars are old,” the barista admitted, his kind eyes darting between them. “Would you mind waiting, and I’ll make you some fresh ones?”
“Not at all,” Ana replied, smiling. “Thank you very much.”
The barista nodded, quickly cashing them out and stepping away to make their drinks.
As they waited, Jinyoung and Ana walked together to a small, rickety bookshelf near the front counter, reading a sign nailed to the wall above it.
Lending Library
Well-loved books for our coffee drinkers to enjoy
“Huh… look.”
Jinyoung reached for a book on the top shelf, Ana watching him pull it out slowly. Turning the book in his hands, he showed the front cover, a small grin pulling on his lips.
“Remember this one?”
And Ana’s eyes darted along the title, smiling as she read it out loud.
“Emma… by Jane Austen.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ana jumped in surprise, eyes refocusing as she watched the man at the window look away, seeming just as startled as she was.
She quickly turned back to her coffee, heart pounding in her chest, taking a long drink of her lukewarm coffee as she wondered…
What was that?
Her eyes were back on the cafe counter, wandering to the baristas working hard behind their coffee machines, wondering how much longer it would take for her lemon bars, trying to distract herself from whatever memories had just flooded her mind…
Or premonitions.
Ana took another sip of coffee, jumping when she realized someone was walking slowly towards her table, looking up in surprise.
The man at the window.
“Sorry…”
His book was tucked beneath his arm, coffee half-empty with his fingers curled around the handle of the mug.
“I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“You’re fine,” Ana giggled nervously, shaking her head. “I was just… thinking, I guess…”
His eyes lingered on hers, and for a moment they stared at one another, that odd familiarity pulling on Ana’s insides, his own expression slightly curious…
As if he knew her, too.
“I’m sorry, I just-” he chuckled slightly, smile making the corners of his eyes crinkle, Ana recognizing it. “My name’s Jinyoung. Have we…”
And as he hesitated, Ana’s heart raced in her chest, a smile spreading slowly across her face, knowing exactly what he was going to ask.
“Have we met before?”

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3
Mary was sitting up in her bed, hiding beneath her quilt. There was a small flickering lantern beside her on the mattress and she turned the pages of her book, the text illuminated by the flames.
Ghost stories; she loved them.
Her mother never allowed them- she said they were the devil’s tales, and they tainted her mind- but Mary had found some books in the house when they’d moved in.
And late at night- after her parents had tucked her into bed- she would stay up to read them. Scaring herself for fun, jumping at every bump and creak within the old house…
It was fun.
It was thrilling.
Her eyes roamed to the bottom of an urban legend she’d been reading, the author telling her exactly how to defeat a ghost, if she were to ever encounter one.
“Burn the bones.”
She read out loud, voice quiet in the empty room.
“Burn the bones at the place of death.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mary opened her eyes, back leaned against the inside walls of the house, seeing nothing but blackness.
She’d give anything for that lantern again.
Time had passed, but she wasn’t sure how long it’d been.
Minutes, hours, days…
It was different, when you were a spirit.
But that night- the night she’d been the closest she’d ever been to getting someone to listen to her- the group of eight boys had left.
She still remembered Hyunjin’s scream; the pure terror she often heard in people as they ran from that bathroom after seeing her.
“Hyunjin?” she remembered hearing one of the boys ask. “Are you okay?”
“Go!” Hyunjin had shouted, and Mary had listened to the clamoring, uncoordinated footsteps. “GO, it’s real-”
And then there was thundering on the stairs again, shouts from some of the boys Mary hadn’t been able to understand, running as fast they could from the bathroom-
From her-
Then the front door of the house was opening and closing with a bang, leaving a ringing silence in their wake.
And Mary was alone once more.
She thought back to Hyunjin…
The good-looking boy who’d paused for longer than anyone else when he saw her.
And the way he looked at her…
Past the fear, Mary could see something else.
Something like… understanding.
Like sympathy.
And for once, Mary had thought she had a real chance. At that moment, she thought he’d been listening; that he would help her….
That this Hyunjin would be different.
But he was just like the rest of them.
Too scared to hear; too terrified to help.
Mary was startled as she heard the front door of the house opening slowly, jumping to her feet, ears immediately perking.
She waited for the inevitable shouts and excited conversation; the group of people who always came parading in the house because no one was every brave enough to come alone-
“Hello?”
Mary’s eyes widened, hands pressed against the brick at the voice.
She recognized him.
Hyunjin
Slow footsteps, the old floorboard creaking beneath the boy’s feet, and Mary waited, listening intently, holding her breath as she stood there waiting…
Hoping…
His footsteps on the stairs now, Mary walked along the walls to follow them, her hands pressed against the brick she was trapped within, desperate for Hyunjin to speak again, to make sure it was him-
“H-Hello?”
The voice was louder- closer- and she realized she was right.
The boy with the pretty face…
He’d come back.
Quickly, Mary took her hands from the wall, running- blind as always- heading the direction she knew all too well-
Towards the light.
A squeak of the bathroom door as it opened slowly, a click of the latch as it closed behind him.
More hesitant footsteps.
And then silence.
Mary’s lips were pressed together, freezing where she stood, waiting for him to utter the words.
“Bloody Mary…”
Hyunjin’s voice was shaky with fear, and she felt a pang in her chest at his determination.
“Bloody Mary…”
The pull on her insides was bringing her closer, and Mary let it carry her, staring up where the window would soon appear, wondering why…
Why did he come back?
“B-Bloody Mary.”
And once again, she was yanked to the now open window, her face in the center of the mirror.
She was silent for a moment, locking eyes with the handsome boy who’d come back for her.
Hyunjin.
“Please…”
Her voice was small and scared as it echoed in the bathroom as always.
“You have to help me…”
And Hyunjin was frozen in fear again, but he didn’t back away, his eyes darting along the features of her face, looking unable to speak-
“You- You have to set me free.”
Mary tried to control the urge to scream again- 150 years of desperation controlling her spirit, consuming her-
“I’m trapped here-”
She could feel it building in her throat; a scream, a longing need to yell and make him understand.
“I need your help-”
“H-How?”
He spoke just loud enough to talk over her rising voice, words shaky once more, Mary surprised by his question.
He was listening.
“How do I set you free?”
Hyunjin sounded braver now, but the paleness of his face- the way his body stayed locked in place- told her he was still very scared.
And Mary gathered herself, forcing down the hysterics, the power of her own, raging spirit-
“My bones-”
She remembered her book- the author who told her how to rid any house of a ghost-
Mary pointed down, keeping her hands within the walls, not wanting to scare him by reaching through the mirror again, motioning towards the cellar two stories below.
The cellar where the constables had thrown her body, feeling she didn’t deserve a proper burial.
“No one will miss her,” one of the men had said, Mary still sobbing within the walls, able to hear them as they carried her body down two flights of stairs. “A raging lunatic is what she was-”
“Bones?”
Hyunjin’s voice brought her back to the present, Mary’s vision re-focusing, eyes on him once more.
“In the cellar-”
She was still fighting the anguish inside her, manifesting as she remembered the night she and her parent’s bodies had been found.
Mary hearing everything, ear pressed against the brick; the men grunting and gagging at the smell of her, ungraceful as they dragged her below the house-
Bang, Bang, Bang; her dead body slamming against each step as they went-
The bathtub they’d dropped her into, an old abandoned one, with clawfoot legs-
“In a bathtub.”
But to her horror, Mary could feel a tug on her insides once more, pulling her backwards, taking her away from the mirror-
She hadn’t known the curse only gave her so much time.
Mary had never spoken to anyone this long before-
“You have to bring them here to the bathroom!”
She was yelling now, the window growing smaller, Hyunjin’s eyebrows furrowing in confusion, taking a slight step closer.
“You have to burn the bones!”
And Mary was pressing her hands against the glass, as if somehow this would give her more time, the mirror solid once more, window shrinking further-
“Please!”
There were tears in her eyes again, and she was fighting the tightness of her throat.
“YOU HAVE TO SET ME FREE!”
And then his face was gone.
The darkness was back, and Mary was falling to the dirt beneath her.
Dropping to her knees, face in her hands…
Hoping so badly that Hyunjin would help her.

“I honestly just think you have bad taste, Eunmi.”
She glared at him, her heart not all the way in it, eyes locking with his.
“I’m just saying,” Jae said with a shrug, eyes darting from hers. “Those guys don’t deserve you at all.”
All thoughts in Eunmi’s mind came to a screeching halt at those words, and Jaebum shoved both hands in his pockets, seeming a little wobbly on his feet as he glanced down at his shoes.
“What?”
It’s all she could think to say in that moment, voice quiet, honestly not sure if she heard him right. Her heart was racing in her chest, much harder than it had all night, and she felt an odd flutter in her throat as she swallowed hard. Eunmi watched him reach up to run a hand through his hair, her eyes following the movement, realizing how close they were standing for the first time.
“I just-”
Eunmi knew Jae too well; he always looked around when he was nervous, as if the words he needed were written on a cue card waiting for him in the background.
“They’re not really worth your time. You’re…”
She felt like she couldn’t breathe now, something different about the air between them, something charged that she wasn’t sure if she was imagining or not. Her stomach was twisting slowly but steadily, drunk mind frozen in time, not sure what to expect from this man in front of her.
He finally sighed, taking his hand from his hair and letting it drop to his side.
“You’re too good for them, Eunmi.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Anything else I should know about you, Miss Kim?”
Jinyoung's eyes were shining in amusement and she giggled with a playful roll of her eyes.
“You can call me Arin, Professor Park .”
He bit his lip, the smile on his face a little more wicked than it should’ve been as he looked at her through his lashes.
“I think I might still want you to call me Professor Park though.”
Oh my god, yeah, he’s definitely drunk
But truthfully, so was she, and his words had her brain short-circuiting as she took in the implications. She wanted him, bad - since the moment she’d seen him on the first day of class- but with him so close, yet so far away, a tantalizing grin on his face as she realized their knees were definitely touching now…
Arin knew they were wading in dangerous waters.
“What if I don’t want to call you that?” she asked with a teasing smirk, a master at hiding her emotions, drunk or not. “ Jinyoung .”
“Hmm…” he searched the features of her face, eyes lingering on her lips before he was reaching into the chip bag again. “I guess I can live with that.”

COMPLETE
The plan had gone much better than Alexis had expected.
Hyunjae had somehow convinced Sangyeon to let her work on Tuesdays with him, insisting he needed another person working if their manager ever wanted him to get that deep cleaning and organizing done he’d been requesting.
Sunwoo always came alone on Tuesdays, and since they were already friends, Hyunjae could invite Alexis naturally into their conversations.
At first, the topics were small- animes, TV shows, movies and video games they all liked. Then they’d talk about school or their favorite candies, Lexi admitting to an amused-looking Sunwoo that popcorn was one of her favorite snacks in the world.
Those first couple weeks, Hyunjae had taken the conversation lead; starting the flow only to walk away for something he “had to take care of”, leaving Alexis alone with Sunwoo, the two talking without him.
By the third Tuesday, they hadn’t needed Hyunjae’s prompting at all.
Alexis had started ringing him out without Hyunjae even being around; usually putting away movies or keeping himself busy and out of the way.
And it wasn’t hard to tell Sunwoo didn’t mind this at all.
He would linger at the counter long after she’d checked him out at the register, talking to her about anything and everything that came up, the two laughing and conversing so naturally, it was hard to believe sometimes that Alexis had just met him.
Hyunjae hadn’t been kidding; she and Sunwoo were a good match.
She knew he could feel it, too- that instant chemistry- by the way he looked at her. Eyes shining, grin sideways, running a hand through his hair as he chuckled low at something she’d say, expression undeniably flirty.
Those first two weeks, it was only Hyunjae who’d caught Sunwoo checking her out when she wasn’t looking, but by the third week, she’d caught him herself, Sunwoo barely trying to hide it; almost like he’d wanted her to see.
Like an invitation, Lexi had thought.
And she was more than willing to say yes.
“Here’s your movies.”
Alexis realized how long she’d been standing at the counter holding them, she and Sunwoo caught up talking about the newest Studio Ghibli movie hitting theaters next week.
He’d checked out Howl’s Moving Castle, and that’d sparked another long-winded conversation neither of them seemed interested in getting out of.
Still, Sunwoo chuckled as he took the movies, his fingers dusting across hers, the two glancing down at their hands before looking at one another once more.
And they were standing close- closer than usual- Alexis’s heart doing that funny, stuttering thing again as she laughed softly under her breath.
“Guess I’ll see you next Tuesday…”
Sunwoo’s smile was crooked again as he spoke.
“I’ll be here,” she smiled back, trying her best to be nonchalant.
He chuckled at that, taking a couple steps towards the exit and lifting his hand in a small wave.
“See ya.”
“Bye.”
She waved back, watching as he turned around and walked away, exiting the store.
Alexis moved to lock the door behind him- he was the last customer of the night, and the store was now closed- pausing after she slipped the latch into place.
A couple beats of silence followed his departure, before-
“Damn.”
Alexis slapped a hand to her chest, whirling around to see Hyunjae behind the counter.
“Where did you come from?!”
“I’ve been here the whole time; you two lovebirds were too caught up to see me.”
Alexis laughed, shaking her head as Hyunjae tossed a couple movie cases on the back counter.
“Did you hear that conversation?” she asked excitedly, eyes wide. “Did you see his hand touch mine? On purpose?”
Hyunjae gasped dramatically, slapping both palms to his cheeks, eyes wide.
“Not his hands!”
“Shut up!” Alexis slapped him on the arm. “This is serious. I think we’re making progress here!”
Hyunjae laughed, dodging her attack.
“You are,” he nodded sincerely. “Keep up the good work. Or should I say, keep listening to me. I told you that skirt would bring you good luck.”
Alexis glanced down at the tight, black pencil skirt she was wearing today, giggling.
She couldn’t even argue; maybe it had brought good luck.
“So, you ready to knock out this full inventory tonight?” Hyunjae asked, kneeling down and opening the mini-fridge beneath the counter.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” Alexis said with a sigh, running a hand through her hair. “Why does Sangyeon want us to do it all at once?”
“So he doesn’t have to do it himself.”
Hyunjae stood up once more, two 4-packs of mini wine bottles in his hands.
“Good thing he’s not supervising, right?”
Alexis swiped one of the packs from his hands, grinning at him.
“I knew there was a reason I keep you around.”
“Tch,” Hyunjae turned to the computer, pulling up the inventory sheets. “More like I keep you around.”
Alexis laughed before she could help it, shaking her head.
“Whatever you say, Jae,” she replied. “Whatever you say…”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few hours had passed since Hyunjae and Alexis had started the inventory count, both feeling warm and a little drunk, walking together down the next aisle of movies.
Hyunjae was in charge of counting while Alexis had the clipboard- they’d had this process down-pat for a while- and they took turns sipping out of their sixth mini-wine bottle, laughing and talking.
Somehow, the conversation had made it back to Sunwoo, Alexis telling Hyunjae her master plan for the following week.
“There’s this special showing of that Ghibli movie at the IMAX theater next Wednesday,” she explained, eyeballing the stack of Ace Ventura copies Hyunjae was holding and marking it down on the paper. “I’ve got two tickets already-”
Hyunjae turned to her in surprise, almost dropping the movies.
“Wow, a little overzealous there…”
“You think Sunwoo will say no?”
Alexis asked like there was no doubt in her mind, however there was a tiny part of her that wondered if she was being overzealous-
But Hyunjae grinned, putting the stack back on the shelf.
“No way.”
Alexis giggled, taking a swig of the wine before passing the bottle to Hyunjae.
“So when he comes in on Tuesday night, I’m gonna check him out like I always do-”
Hyunjae snorted into the bottle and she rolled her eyes, hitting him on the shoulder.
“Check him out at the register,” she corrected. “Then I’ll bring up the tickets, tell him I’ve got two and ask if he wants to go.”
“And next Wednesday is…” Hyunjae trailed off, raising his eyebrows, and she knew what he was asking.
“Yep,” she laughed nervously. “The day before my birthday.”
“Cutting it kinda close, don’t you think?”
“I mean, what choice do I have?”
She continued before he could answer.
“After the movie, I’ll see if Sunwoo wants to come back to my place for some coffee- which I found out he likes, so that’s perfect- one thing leads to another, and then…”
She wiggled her eyebrows suggestively, and he laughed, nodding in approval.
“It’s a good plan.”
Hyunjae grabbed a new stack of A Walk to Remember copies, Alexis marking the paper once again after counting.
“I thought so, too.”
He passed her the wine and as she took another drink, she smiled devilishly.
“I even got some new lingerie for the occasion.”
“What?”
Hyunjae chuckled, amused.
“Yeah, I was gonna show you, but-”
“You’re wearing it?”
He looked down at her shirt, and Alexis snorted, shaking her head.
“No you idiot! I’ve got a picture on my phone from the store online!”
“Oh,” Hyunjae laughed again, sounding slightly embarrassed. “Right.”
They finished the next shelf, drinking the rest of their wine and heading behind the counter to grab a new inventory sheet.
Taking a break, they sat across from one another on the carpet, backs leaned against the cabinets. Hyunjae cracked open their second to last bottle, taking a drink before leaning over to pass it to Alexis.
“Thanks.”
She took her own drink before fishing her phone out of her pocket, unlocking the screen.
“So… Wanna see it?”
She wiggled her eyebrows again, and Hyunjae laughed but nodded, Lexi hurriedly pulling up the screenshot she’d taken from the store’s website.
She turned the phone so Hyunjae could see the black, lacy bra and underwear set, swiping through the pictures.
“Damn.”
“I know, right?” Alexis grinned. “I thought-”
“That model is super gorgeous,” Hyunjae took the phone from her hand to get a better look. “Does it have her name, or?”
Alexis giggled loudly, grabbing her phone back.
“Ugh, I should’ve known that’s what you’d care about.”
“What? Otherwise it’s just a bra and some underwear floating on a white background,” Hyunjae shrugged. “Not enjoyable.”
Lexi sat back and Hyunjae watched, teasing expression softening a little.
“I’m just kidding; I’m sure it’ll look great.”
For the briefest of moments, his eyes darted up and down her body before he was taking another drink of wine and handing her the bottle.
“Thanks,” she said again. “I hope so; he better say yes, this shit was fifty dollars”
“Just for him to take it off,” Hyunjae joked, making both of them laugh.
They sat back against the counters again, tired but happy, neither one of them wanting to do the next inventory sheet as they rested their legs.
“Sunwoo’s going to say yes,” Hyunjae told her confidently. “But if he doesn’t… I’ll help you.”
Lexi was just taking another drink, snorting loudly into the bottle.
“What?”
“Look, I’m a guy… You’re a girl…”
Hyunjae was pulling out the last bottle, cracking open the lid.
“It doesn’t have to mean anything, but technically… I can solve the problem.”
He took another sip of the wine, cheeks flushed from the alcohol, but even though Hyunjae was a little drunk- and Lexi was a little drunk, too- she realized he made a good point.
If worse came to worse, Hyunjae could solve the problem.
Alexis thought about it a little more; she was honestly so comfortable with Hyunjae, maybe it wouldn’t even be that weird.
In her foggy, feel-good haze, this back-up plan made sense.
“Alright, deal.”
Hyunjae laughed in surprise, turning to her.
“You’re serious?”
“Were you not?”
Alexis was about to be confused, but Hyunjae was shaking his head.
“No, I was, I mean…”
He trailed off, shrugging.
“Alright, deal.”
They clinked their mini wine bottles together, grinning and taking yet another sip.
“But Sunwoo’s not gonna say no,” Alexis added, feeling just as confident as Hyunjae had been.
“You’re right.”
He chuckled, tapping his bottle against hers once again.
“He’s not.”

“So, did Bam finally get an assistant?”
Changbin’s question pulled Maddie from her thoughts, and she turned quickly.
“Nope.”
Maddie popped the p, feeling bummed all over again; another useless conversation with Bam.
“Still?”
Hyunjin sounded annoyed like he always did when this was the answer, Maddie turning to look up at him again, watching his eyebrows furrow a little.
“He says he’s still looking,” she told him.
He nodded, pressing his lips together and not saying anything else.
Maddie knew how he felt- what would happen if one day she did have to be emergency back-up?- but couldn’t help being a little…
Amused.
Who knew Hwang Hyunjin could actually be worried about something like that?
As if anyone compared to him anyway.
It was cute, really, his… jealousy.
She hadn’t forgotten how quickly he’d pulled her back when Minho was testing his powers on Lila and her a few weeks ago-
“Okay…”
Chan was chewing worriedly on his bottom lip when Maddie looked at him, glancing around and sitting a little straighter on the couch.
Changbin turned off Mario Kart, everyone turning to face Chan.
“Until we get someone, that means we really gotta be on top of the feeding situation.”
“Right,” Lila nodded in quick agreement, also sitting up beside him. “Pay attention to how you feel and also your schedules; make sure you’re equipped.”
“It’s more important than ever for us to not have an incident,” Maddie added. “I’m only one person and there’s seven of you…”
She trailed off, Han smirking a little as he looked between her and Lila.
“You sure Lila can’t still-?”
He was joking as usual, but Changbin cut him off, flicking him across the forehead.
Felix snorted into his drink while Chan and Changbin air high-fived across the room.
“Careful, Han…” Maddie teased, giggling at the exchange. “Don’t want Channie going all rogue on you.”
Changbin turned to her, grinning slightly.
“Channie’s never gone rogue.”
She was taken aback, watching Han rub at his forehead- chuckling- before she was looking at Chan.
Lila was looking at him too, expression confused.
“Wait, what?” Maddie asked, turning back to Changbin. “But when he was all upset about Lila-”
“That’s not rogue,” Minho spoke for the first time, sounding a bit amused. “Chan would never do that.”
“I thought you said-” Lila spoke up, looking between Chan and Minho. “The red in the eyes-”
“I said it was like going rogue,” Minho replied with a shrug. “There’s a difference.”
“Yeah, Li, going rogue is…” Chan cringed a little, swallowing hard. “I would never.”
“But-”
Maddie was totally confused.
She was sure an incubus losing control wasn’t the most pleasant thing in the world, but- looking around at everyone’s expression, her eyes lingering on Hyunjin’s somewhat serious gaze- she felt like she was definitely missing something…
“-I thought the red in the eyes meant losing control,” she said quickly. “And losing control, means going rogue-”
“Not exactly,” Felix corrected gently. “The flickering red is just-”
He motioned towards his eyes.
“It’s just our demon side taking control of our emotions… I guess.”
Despite how much progress he’d made, there was still a pinch of discomfort on Felix’s features as he spoke about his incubus side.
“It’s the same as the purple,” Seungmin chimed in.
“Or the blue,” Jeongin added.
“Right…” Chan nodded slowly. “It’s… The red flickering in our eyes just means we don’t have as much control as we normally do.”
“It makes sense they don’t know,” Han said with a shake of his head, smirking slightly. “They didn’t even know about the bonding thing. Bam didn’t teach them shit.”
Everyone laughed a little, Maddie shifting against Hyunjin’s legs and looking around.
“Okay…” she began. “So, then what does ‘going rogue’ actually mean?”
Lila seemed curious as well, nodding quickly in agreement as she scooted to the edge of her seat.
“It’s us at our most dangerous,” Hyunjin answered from behind her. “It’s an incubus who doesn’t have any control of themselves at all.”
“Well… control in a way they can safely live amongst humans,” Seungmin said.
Maddie bit her lip, eyes darting between them before Han spoke up.
“Incubi are sex demons, don’t forget,” he said as she whirled around to look at him, a slight grin on his face. “Most of us have control over ourselves now, but-”
“That’s why the Incubi Handling Act of ‘69 was made in the first place,” Felix explained. “Because before that…”
He paused, everyone shuddering lightly before Changbin took over.
“Before that, incubi didn’t just get energy from people and move on,” he continued. “They would seduce, get consent like we need, do the deed and then…”
“Kill.”

Unexpected Help (Part 1)

Part 1 | Part 2
Soyoung wiped the frustrated tears from her eyes, storming quickly down the hotel hallway. She never looked behind her, not wanting to see Namjoon at the moment, to see the serious look on his face.
All she really wanted to do was yell.
Or scream.
Or cry…
Why did he have to be so frustrating? Why was he playing around with her feelings like this?
“This relationship... it’s not good for the group, Soyoung,” Namjoon sounded a little too business-like, unable to meet her steady gaze. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to-”
“No, no it’s fine,” she cut him off, using shaky fingers to wipe quickly at her watering eyes “Better to tell me now, than to let it go any further, right?”
She found the hotel room she was looking for, hoping Jimin would be in there. She needed to talk to her best friend, see if she could get some advice or just vent because right now, she wasn’t in the best state of mind.
Namjoon had completely broken her heart.
“We can just pretend like the kiss didn’t happen,” Namjoon spoke more quickly now, eyes searching the features of her face. “J-Just go back to the way things were-”
But he was pushing the knife deeper into her chest now, and she squeezed her eyes shut, already shaking her head quickly at his words.
“You might be able to do that, Namjoon,” she replied softly, glaring at the worried expression on his face. “But I can’t.”
Soyoung had gotten the key to the hotel from Jimin; he and Yoongi were sharing a room together for the night before their concert tomorrow, and they were all supposed to be hanging out in there until the managers forced them to go to bed. She was just going to pop in, grab Jimin, and see if they could talk over some vending machine snacks or something.
She unlocked the door and threw it open without a warning knock, not realizing how hard she had pushed it until the knob slammed against the wall, making her jump.
“Shit,” she whispered under her breath, making sure to close the door behind her more carefully.
Soyoung made her way into the room, but glancing around, she realized it was completely empty. Her heart sank- wasn’t Jimin supposed to be in here?- and she felt another round of annoying tears fill her eyes. She ran both hands through her hair, sitting down on one of the beds and resting her head in her hands.
“Dammit!” Soyoung yelled in frustration, knowing it wasn’t the empty room that was upsetting her so badly. “Why is my luck so fucking terrible today?”
“Whoa...”
Soyoung yelped, jumping a foot in the air, immediately lifting her face from her hands at the familiar voice.
“You okay there?”
She spotted Yoongi sitting on the couch in the corner of the room, lounging lazily with a headphone resting in one of his ears.
How had she not seen him?
His eyebrows were raised in amusement as he looked at her, moving slowly to switch off his music, putting his phone to the side.
“Dammit, Yoongi,” Soyoung breathed, hurriedly wiping her tears and turning away from him. “I didn’t see you.”
She was immediately embarrassed; she wouldn’t have had an outburst like that if she knew someone was in there...
“Obviously,” he chuckled, still smirking at her, and she gritted her teeth in annoyance.
“Where’s everyone else?” she asked, not wanting to look him in the eye, knowing what a mess her face was. “I thought they were hanging out in here?”
Soyoung wasn’t sure if he’d know where the rest of the group was or not, but anyone was better to vent to than the nonchalant man in front of her right now. She was sure, out of anyone she could’ve run into in this entire hotel, Yoongi cared the least about what was going on with her.
“Jin moved the party to he and Jungkook’s room,” he answered. “Guess they have a bigger TV in there. I think your sister’s with Jimin… said something about going to get some food up the street.”
Soyoung sighed, shaking her head and standing up from the bed. She debated on going into the other room for better company, but immediately thought better of it; for some reason, she wasn’t in the mood for an overly caring Jin trying to make jokes.
She stood there for a moment, vaguely aware of Yoongi moving slowly in the background. Where could she go? If Soomi and Jimin were getting food, they might be a long time; who knows when they would get back…
So who was left?
“Do you wanna talk about it?”
Yoongi’s lazy drawl broke her from her thoughts and she turned, surprised to see him holding up two bottles of beer. There was an empty one sitting on the table next to the chair he’d been sitting in; he must’ve been drinking before she came in.
How could she say no to alcohol in a moment like this?
She let out a small laugh, walking forward and taking one of the beers from his hand.
“I guess I do,” she sighed, using the side of the table to crack the bottle open one-handed.
Yoongi’s eyes widened, putting away the bottle opener he was just about to offer her. He opened his own beer, watching her with interest as she took a long swig of her drink, silently waiting for her to begin.
Soyoung found the taste of the beer rather refreshing, and before she realized what she was doing, the entire bottle was gone, and she chucked it quickly into a trash can.
“Do you have another?” she asked, the world already starting to teeter just a bit.
“Uh, sure…” Yoongi laughed, reaching into the mini-fridge under the table and handing her another one.
She cracked the next bottle open the same way, taking another drink before turning to the man in front of her.
He had on his usual black ripped jeans, the fabric hugging his legs in an attractive way, and a baggy white shirt hanging loosely on his upper body. His hair was dark and in its natural stick-straight state, messy and hanging slightly in his handsome face. She was a little proud of herself; as manager of the stylist team, she had suggested Yoongi have dark hair, and now she could see she’d made an excellent choice.
“I did a good job,” she motioned towards his hair before taking another sip. “Your hair looks awesome.”
“This?” Yoongi ruffled the strands automatically, making her smile before she could help it. “This is just the way it is, they didn’t style it or anything today.”
“Well maybe you’re just naturally good-looking,” Soyoung shrugged as he slowly lowered his hand from his hair with curious expression.
She sighed and turned away, sipping on her second beer as she let her mind wander.
Namjoon was naturally good-looking too.
She loved how unique his face was, and as someone so invested into the art of hair and makeup, she always thought his features were a great canvas. He was tall, too, taller than the rest of them, in fact, and had that sexy voice she had, regrettably, fallen in love with…
“Shit,” she muttered under her breath, holding the bottle tight in her grip. “Fuck, Namjoon.”
“Geez, Soyoung,” Yoongi raised his eyebrows in surprise. “I don’t think I’ve ever heard you cuss before.”
“Well, I’m pissed off, okay?” Soyoung snapped back. “I’m just- I’m so fucking done with Namjoon.”
“I can see that,” Yoongi looked like he was trying not to laugh as she took another small drink.
“You don’t get it,” Soyoung scowled at him, annoyed by his condescending attitude. “He’s yanking me around like a toy, and he won’t get his head out of his own ass long enough to realize us being a relationship is not a bad thing.”
Her voice was raised now as she started pacing, just a small amount of space between the bed and couch. She spared Yoongi a quick glance, spotting the confused crinkle of his eyebrows, and she sighed, the alcohol coursing through her veins and encouraging her to let loose a little.
“Look, Namjoon and I have liked each other since I started here-”
“Yeah, I think pretty much everyone knows that,” Yoongi rolled his eyes, and Soyoung glared at him. “I don’t know why you guys are even-”
“Anyway!” she yelled over him. “I literally had to make the first move. I asked him multiple times to take me on a date. But you know how Namjoon is-”
“‘Well, let me think about it for three days’,” Yoongi interrupted again, sipping on his half-empty drink and chuckling at his poor imitation of Namjoon.
Soyoung laughed despite herself; Yoongi wasn’t wrong- Namjoon was an over-thinker.
“I’m constantly getting toyed with,” she continued, flipping her hair to the side and turning to look at him. “And that hurts, you know?”
“Yes, I’m sure it’s pretty difficult for someone as perfect as you,” Yoongi smirked playfully, taking a long drink.
“I am not perfect,” she snapped at him, almost spilling her beer. “That has nothing to do with this anyway. Namjoon does like me, it’s just… He won’t do anything about it-”
“I’m just kidding, chill out,” Yoongi chuckled, putting his free hand up in surrender.
“We had this romantic breakfast date in his hotel room yesterday morning-”
“A breakfast date?” he scoffed, throwing his second beer away and reaching for a third. “In a hotel room?”
“It’s the best he could do, okay?” Soyoung laughed despite herself at Yoongi’s sarcasm. “Anyway, he wrote me these lyrics, basically telling me how much he likes me, but he’s scared…”
She stopped. feeling the pang in her chest as she thought back to the morning before. He had looked so sincere in that moment on his hotel balcony, and it’d made their recent conversation- about Namjoon wanting to cut them off- all the more heartbreaking.
Yoongi was in the background watching her silently, his smirk fading.
“He even kissed me,” she admitted, her voice quiet as she choked on her own words.
“Hey, listen-”
Yoongi looked concerned for the first time that night, reaching forward as if to grab her hand.
“Then he had to go and ruin it!” she suddenly exclaimed, ignoring him and continuing to pace the area. “By being so blinded by his own judgement of himself for falling in love that he rejects me again… and we have to start all over!”
Yoongi retracted his hand.
“So what if he’s in an idol group? Why does that mean he can’t be happy?!”
Soyoung was as angry as she had been when she first walked in, taking quick sips of beer in between her words.
“He owed me that apology he was writing to me in those lyrics yesterday!” her voice was even louder now, and she saw Yoongi cringe as she paced towards the couch once more. “HE LITERALLY KISSED ME AND THEN BLEW ME OFF RIGHT AFTERWARDS LIKE A COMPLETE-”
“Okay, okay,” Yoongi grabbed her wrist, pulling her quickly onto the cushions next to him. “Geez, you’re gonna wake up the whole damn hotel. Just calm down, alright?”
Sitting down, Soyoung instantly began to relax, her eyes trying to adjust to the spinning world around her. She felt like her whole body was on fire between the alcohol, vigorous pacing, and the anger pumping through her veins.
“Fuck, it’s hot,” she complained, letting her head fall to the back of the sofa and drunkenly unbuttoning the top two buttons of her shirt.
Yoongi watched her slender fingers slowly undoing the buttons, shifting slightly in his seat.
He wasn’t a big fan of Soyoung; she was a little too “Miss Perfect” for his taste.
It seemed like almost everyone besides him, Jimin, and Tae were drooling over her, but he liked his women just a little bit flawed.
But as he watched her fan her flushed skin, eyes closed and lips slightly parted, he couldn’t help but appreciate how sexy Soyoung could be. His eyes grazed down her, literally, perfect body, making their way back up to look at the tinge of pink on her face.
“Feeling better?” he asked with a small laugh, placing his hand on her warm cheek without thinking, trying to cool down the skin there.
Soyoung leaned into his touch, surprising him as her soft skin pressed into the palm of his hand. Then her eyes were suddenly shooting open, narrowing when their gazes met.
“What are you doing?” she asked suspiciously, lifting her face from his hand. “I thought you hated me?”
“Hated you?” he was surprised by her choice of words, letting his arm rest on the back of the couch behind her head. “I never hated you. You’re just a little too….”
He motioned towards her, feeling odd speaking all this out loud while she was in such a vulnerable state.
“Goody-goody? Put-together? Boring?”
“Uh-”
“Well you’re a little too cranky for me,” she told him, rolling her eyes before giving him a playful smirk. “So now we’re even.”
“It’s different now,” Yoongi admitted, taking a long drink from his nearly empty bottle.
Soyoung watched his eyes move slowly and deliberately up and down her body, shaking her head and letting out a short laugh.
“Don’t be an asshole,” she told him, distracting herself by finishing off the rest of her beer.
“There you go being interesting again,” Yoongi said in a low voice, tossing his own drink in the trash.
“How does me calling you an asshole make me interesting?”
She was trying to open her bottle one-handed like she’d done earlier, but her drunk fingers were too unsteady to do it now. She growled loudly in frustration, banging the lid harshly on the table, still unsuccessful.
“You’ve got kind of a dirty mouth,” he answered, sounding somewhat surprised as he took the bottle from her hands and cracked it open with his opener. “Relax, Soyoung.”
She took the beer back, staring at his face for a moment before letting her gaze slide up and down his lean body.
“You know,” she grinned wickedly at him before taking a drink. “You’re kinda hot, Yoongi.”
“And you’re kinda drunk,” Yoongi chuckled softly, getting up and walking to the mini-fridge.
“I am, aren’t I?” Soyoung giggled to herself, letting her head fall to the back of the couch once more.
He opened the door, taking out another beer for himself when he noticed the small hotel bucket filled with ice on top of the fridge. He looked at it for a moment before his eyes slowly wandered back to Soyoung.
Her back was arched a bit on the couch, and she was fanning herself with her free hand, taking slow drinks from the beer in her other. He licked his lips subconsciously, watching a small bead of sweat roll down her neck, making its way down her upper chest and getting lost between her breasts-
“I have an idea,” Yoongi’s mind was a little hazy from drinking, glancing at the bucket of ice again.
Soyoung lifted up, turning to look at him and letting her eyes graze down his body again, unable to help herself.
Since when was Yoongi hot to her?
She moved her eyes to the bottle in her hand, swishing the liquid around.
Was there something in the alcohol?
“You wanna cool off?”
He picked up the bucket of ice, smirking as he raised his eyebrows suggestively.
There had to be something in the alcohol.
But Soyoung just giggled, unable to answer as she watched him slowly walk to the bed. He set the bucket down on the nightstand, climbing on top of the mattress and patted the spot next to him.
“Come here.”
Soyoung stood up without hesitation, a little turned on by how bossy he was being in that moment. She was a bit unsteady on her feet, climbing onto the bed clumsily and lying next to him.
Her back was on the mattress, and she turned her head in Yoongi’s direction, catching the one-sided grin pulling on his lips as he looked down at her.
“Well I’m here,” she told him, giggling again and letting the alcohol take the wheel. “What are we doing?”

Around midnight, however, it seemed Sunwoo had reached his limit, Leah not as surprised as she should’ve been to find herself alone with him later that evening…
12:00am
Leah was walking down the hall, getting away from the chaos of the living room, looking for her boyfriend.
She hadn’t realized Sunwoo was gone until it was her turn for beer pong, the man usually her partner if Sadie wasn’t around. Since her best friend had been gone with Sangyeon for hours now, she’d been hoping Sunwoo would be her partner instead.
And maybe she could mess with him a little more.
But he hadn’t been anywhere, and she’d let Juyeon and Eric take her spot, leaving to go find him.
If she was being honest, Leah was having fun, messing with Sunwoo all night.
She loved the rush of it- watching his eyes wander to her always when they were in the same room, obviously turned on, looking at her as if she was the only girl at the party-
But the best part was watching the flicker of his expression when she didn’t give in- when she only smirked and walked away, making sure to draw attention to her hips while she did, knowing how short her skirt was, knowing how much of a sucker Sunwoo was for that.
Because tonight wasn’t about hooking up; tonight was about showing Sunwoo how resistant she could actually be, and that he wasn’t the only one with sexual power here-
Leah yelped in surprise when she felt fingers wrapping around her wrist, getting a glimpse of the open closet door on her left before she was yanked inside, stumbling a bit.
“Sunwoo-”
She knew those hands- his touch both rough and gentle at the same time- a small chuckle slipping from his lips as he reached around her to close the door, shrouding them in almost complete darkness.
“Sorry.”
He wasn’t sorry, his fingers leaving her wrist only to wander up her sides, taking a step closer.
Leah’s eyes fluttered at the feeling of it, pressing her lips together because she knew exactly why Sunwoo was yanking her into that closet.
It was familiar.
Tiny and a little cramped, rarely used jackets hanging in the corner, a few storage bins on higher shelves, relatively soundproof...
They’d hooked up in that closet before- multiple times.
And she could tell Sunwoo was hoping for another one of those nights, his fingertips caressing the skin just beneath her shirt, Leah’s arms automatically wrapping around his neck-
But she forced herself to stop, fingers folding together.
“Is everyone still in the living room?”
His voice was quiet and a little raspy, and really, Leah hated how hot he sounded, fingers shifting a little against his skin.
“Yeah,” she replied. “Why? Hoping no one will walk in on us?”
Sunwoo chuckled again, his palms sliding to her hips, leaning forward to kiss her.
“I mean yeah,” he said against her lips. “I’ve wanted you all night…”
Leah knew that, but hearing Sunwoo say it to her- his body so close to her own- had her swallowing hard, praying for strength because she would not break this early-
“Hmm…”
She hummed, letting her fingers run up his neck to tangle into the strands of his messy hair.
“We’ve got some time,” she said thoughtfully, nails scratching slightly into his scalp, Sunwoo sighing. “They seem pretty involved with their game…”
Sunwoo’s grip on her hip was already tightening, and Leah played along, taking her fingers from his hair to push on his shoulders. He took a few steps backward, his back colliding with the wall, Leah’s eyes darting along his handsome face before she was pressing her lips against his again.
And kissing Sunwoo was always like fire- a pleasurable burn on her insides, sparks like fireworks, an aching need inside of her she couldn’t explain as she let him pull her closer-
They were turning their heads, deepening the kiss, Sunwoo’s hands wandering down the length of her skirt, fingers dusting across the bare skin of her thigh-
Leah needed to reel it in, find her footing before she fell headfirst, so she quickly pulled her lips from his, hands running through his hair and tilting his head back, Sunwoo exhaling lightly as his head hit the wall-
He was drunk- she could tell- but so was she, her kisses slightly uncoordinated as she made a line down his jaw, stopping to nibble softly on his neck.
Sunwoo moaned a little, hands stuttering against her thighs, and ugh she hated how reactive he was too- Leah swore she was going to die- keeping her focus as she spoke against his skin.
“Do you think we should do it right here in this closet?”
Leah’s question was soft and sultry, hands sliding beneath his shirt, feeling the smooth, even skin there, knowing how much he loved it when she dirty talked him-
Especially when they were drunk.
“Yeah-”
Sunwoo’s answer was low, his hands sliding completely beneath her skirt and squeezing her ass before holding her hips once more.
“We have time,” he continued, pulling her closer. “No one would know-”
Leah kissed further down his neck, biting gently again, tongue swiping across the skin there as her fingers splayed out beneath his shirt-
“You’re right,” she agreed. “But we’d have to be quick-”
“You know we can.”
Sunwoo’s voice was silky, persuading her as he took his hands from beneath her skirt only to run them up her sides, caressing her shoulders and fingering the straps of her bra.
“We’ve done it before.”
“That’s true,” Leah nodded before running her tongue along his collarbone, Sunwoo’s breath hitching as his head fell against the wall once more. “What did you have in mind?”
“Anything,” he answered a little breathlessly.
“I could… go simple?”
Leah’s hands slipped from his shirt before she was sliding up his thigh, running her fingers along the obvious bulge beneath his zipper.
“Maybe… give you a hand job?”
Sunwoo hissed.
“I need more than that-”
“I thought you said anything?”
Her fingertips were already dipping into the waistband of his underwear beneath his jeans, pulling back to look at him.
“Yeah-”
He had a one-sided smile on his face as he slid his fingers beneath the straps of her bra again, eyes on his own movements before he was glancing up at her through his lashes.
“But I mean, you just look so hot like this, I thought-”
God, she really wished he wouldn’t look at her like that-
“Oh.”
Leah smiled wickedly, staying strong, Sunwoo’s gaze darting along the features of her face as she dipped her fingers a little further beneath his waistband, teasing as she kept just slightly from touching his dick-
“So you wanted to see me…”
There Sunwoo was, asking again, expecting her to say yes as always- always giving him what he wanted- and Leah was ashamed to admit she would do it right now if she wasn’t trying to prove a point.
But she was, so she only moved closer, watching Sunwoo’s eyes slip closed as she kissed down his jaw again, stopping at his ear.
“What if I suck your dick instead?”
Sunwoo’s quiet groan sent a shiver down her spine, and she ran her tongue along the shell of his ear.
“Yeah, you should-”
“Then you could watch me do it, all dressed up for you-”
“Mm.”
His hands slipped from her bra, moving down her back almost clumsily, humming at her words.
“I picked this out for you,” she whispered, watching goosebumps rise on the skin of his neck. “I know you’ve always wanted me to dress like a schoolgirl-”
Leah’s hands were already toying with the button of his jeans, playfully pretending she was undoing it-
“Do you like it?” she asked quietly, nipping on a spot just below his ear.
“Yeah-” Sunwoo’s fingers were curling into the small of her back, holding her close as he spoke. “I love it-”
She smiled against his skin- he was already a little wrecked and she hadn’t even done anything-
“Maybe we could do more, huh?”
Leah stood up straight again, turning in Sunwoo’s arms until she was leaning her back against his front.
A moan caught in Sunwoo’s throat as he slid his hands to her hips, holding her against him-
“You could take me right here…”
The closet was narrow, Leah reaching out to press her hands against the wall in front of her, curving her body against him, knowing how much he liked that angle-
“Ugh, Leah…”
Sunwoo’s words sent a thrill down her spine as he ran his hand up her body, admiring the view, his other fingers tightening their grip into her hip-
“You’ve been teasing me all night…”
And she knew now more than ever that she had him right where she wanted him; that she’d been toying with him a bit and he was on edge, making him a little more reckless, a little more desperate-
“Have I?” she asked coyly.
Smiling, Leah rolled her hips against his, Sunwoo exhaling sharply, moving once against her as she did it again.
“Yes,” he all but growled, the needy undertone ruining any anger he might’ve had. “You just-”
But he didn’t finish the sentence before she was sliding against him again, feeling just how hard he was, Sunwoo’s groan a little louder as she heard his head fall against the wall for the third time.
“Please, Leah-”
Her eyes fluttered closed because shit she was about to break, the sound of him so desperate like that nearly killing her, but she sucked in a breath, standing up straight before turning to face him once more.
“Would you like that?”
She knew he liked the build up- they both did- her words soft as she kissed a sloppy line up the curve of his neck.
“If I let you fuck me right here in this closet-?”
Sunwoo’s breath left his lungs in a rush, the heat of it ghosting across her ear as she caved a little-
No, Leah
“Let’s do it,” he said, fingers scraping into her skin as he slipped them back beneath her shirt. “Before we run out of time-”
“Should we?”
She was whispering in his ear, hands sliding up the sleeves of his jacket-
“Yeah,” he moaned.
“Why?”
There was a mocking lilt in her voice as her fingers curled into the smooth leather.
“Because I just can’t resist you?”
But Sunwoo didn’t get it, wasn’t paying attention to the emphasis on those words as he groaned again, hands sliding along the band of her bra.
“Mhm-”
“Ha-”
She let out a small chuckle, pulling away to look at his face, taking a step back from his body.
“I don’t think I feel like it right now.”
Sunwoo’s expression as his head tilted forward to look at her was priceless; eyes wide, lips parted, breathing still a little labored.
“Wha-?”
“I think…”
She tapped her chin thoughtfully, taking yet another step backward, Sunwoo’s fingers slipping from her body.
“I think I’m saying no.”
And before she lost the fight against her body’s instincts begging her to go back to Sunwoo, Leah was opening the closet door, stepping out without a backwards glance and shutting it quickly behind her.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leah wasn’t sure how she’d made it out of that closet, but she felt empowered.
As the night progressed, people still playing games, still taking shots, still partying, Leah kept her distance from Sunwoo. She was still proving her point, hanging mainly with Eric, Juyeon, Kevin and Jacob.
Still, she could feel Sunwoo’s eyes on her when they were in the same room, the expression on his face curious, challenging, and still so wanton, Leah having to pull her gaze from his.
But after another hour had passed, and she’d had one or two more drinks, spotting her boyfriend on the living room couch with his leather jacket now draped on the coffee table, looking way too hot for just jeans and a t-shirt, she decided enough was enough.
It was time for the final phase of her plan...
1:00am
Leah was leaned against the door frame of a small office room, biting impatiently on her bottom lip, eyes darting up and down the abandoned hallway.
She’d texted Sunwoo, telling him to meet her upstairs, and she hadn’t heard anything back, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t coming.
The office room was familiar- she’d seen it a few times on her way to the bathroom during the many parties she’d attended at this frat house- but she’d never thought of using it until now.
This is so bad
Leah smiled to herself, ears perking when she heard footsteps on the stairs before they were echoing down the hallway. She caught a glimpse of Sunwoo- the man looking the opposite direction, hands shoved in the pockets of his jeans- before she was hiding more completely in the room, her grin broadening.
When the time was right, she reached out, fingers gripping his forearm and yanking him inside, using her free hand to shut the door behind them.
It was like deja vu, their roles reversed, Sunwoo stumbling a little before looking up at her, eyes a little round.
“Leah.”
And almost immediately, his gaze was wandering up and down her body, a small shiver of excitement racing down her spine.
“Hey.”
She smiled demurely at him, taking a couple steps forward, closing the distance between them, her hands resting gently on his shoulders.
“I think I’ve been mean enough…” she said softly. “Don’t you?”
“Tch,” Sunwoo chuckled, his hands already running up her sides. “Yeah, finally-”
But before Leah could hear whatever smartass answer was sure to come from her boyfriend’s mouth, she was kissing him hard on the lips, Sunwoo humming in slight surprise.
And then his hands were gripping the fabric of her shirt, and her fingers were threading through the hair on the back of his head, their bodies pressed together, kissing passionately, Leah’s breath catching in her throat-
She was turning her head, deepening the kiss, Sunwoo’s tongue swiping across her bottom lip, making her gasp, her fingers pulling on his hair making him moan into her mouth.
And as their tongues met- the sharp, salty and sweet taste of him nearly intoxicating- Leah forced herself not to lose focus, taking her hands from his hair and fiddling with the fabric of the tie around her neck, loosening it quickly.
Sunwoo had control for a moment, his hands sliding down the curve of her back, scratching along her thighs as he slipped his fingers beneath her skirt, Leah sighing at the feeling-
Then she was moving her mouth against his before taking his bottom lip between her teeth, biting it somewhat hard, Sunwoo groaning because he loved that and she knew it-
Her tie was loose enough now, and quickly she pulled back, releasing his lip, Sunwoo’s eyes barely opening before she was pulling the loop of the tie over her head and putting it over his instead-
He grinned as she let it settle around his neck while she gripped the knot of the tie, yanking on it just slightly.
“Okay,” he said with a grin, glancing down at her hand before looking up at her with a one-sided grin.
Leah giggled before she could help it, kissing him once more, taking steps backward as she pulled him with her by the tie.
She didn’t stop until her back hit the desk behind her, and then she was pulling him right against her, using her free hand to push off any notebooks and pencils in her way.
Sunwoo took his lips from hers, glancing at the mess on the floor, laughing in surprise as Leah jumped on top of the desk.
“You want it that bad, huh?” he asked playfully, his hands running up her thighs as she spread her legs a little.
And she knew he was joking, but Leah felt her fingers tightening on the knot of the tie around his neck because this was exactly why she was doing this-
Sunwoo’s ego was too much.
“Yeah…”
But Leah was playing along for now, yanking him closer, whispering against his lips as she wrapped her legs around his waist.
“You know how much I’ve wanted to do this…”
That much was true- Leah had been talking about letting Sunwoo fuck her on a desk for a while now, and Sunwoo’s soft laugh was warm against her mouth.
“Yeah,” he muttered, hands sliding higher up her legs. “I know.”
And they were kissing again, their lips moving quickly, breaths coming in short as Leah kept a tight hold on the tie.
She pushed him closer to her body with her legs still wrapped around him, Sunwoo moaning quietly, his fingers digging into the flesh of her thighs, the feel of him pressed against her like that nearly breaking Leah for the thousandth time that night-
Taking her lips from his on a gasp, she gathered herself, running a quick hand through his messy hair before pulling it slightly, tilting his head to the side.
“What if I do what I said I’d do earlier?” she muttered teasingly, lips dusting the line of his jaw as she moved to his ear. “What if I suck you off? Would you like that?”
Sunwoo’s groan on a heavy exhale as he shifted against her was what she was hoping for- she wanted him caught up again- and she smiled a little when she felt his fingers stutter against her skin.
“Yes,” he sounded slightly impatient. “You know I’d like that-”
His answer was fuel to her fire, and she was yanking harshly on the tie, sitting back a little on the desk.
“Let’s switch.”
Sunwoo looked at her, eyes nearly black, darting up and down her body as he took a step back. She smiled a little, jumping down while Sunwoo moved around her, leaning against the desk just as she was dropping to her knees.
Leah didn’t waste a lot of time, running her hands up his jean-clad thighs, watching Sunwoo’s fingers grip slightly to the edge of the desk, eyes trained on her movements, the room silent for just a moment.
But then she was making quick work of the button and zipper on his pants, fingers wrapping around the base of his erection as she glanced up at him, hand moving slowly up and down.
“So you’ve been wanting me all night, huh?”
Leah’s voice was quiet, grin mischievous before she ran her tongue up the underside of his dick, not giving him a chance to answer.
Sunwoo’s choked moan was like music to her ears, the man shifting against the desk.
“Yeah,” he replied breathily. “You look so fucking hot-”
“Mm-”
She hummed thoughtfully, taking him into her mouth for just a moment, teasing as she ran her tongue slowly along his slit. He hissed sharply, Leah watching his eyes flutter, telling her Sunwoo was already getting into it-
“And you wanted me like this, too?”
Leah’s hand was sliding up and down a little quicker, building a steady rhythm, drawing a circle with her tongue along the rim of his head, knowing how much Sunwoo loved that too-
And he didn’t disappoint, shivering as he moaned a little loud, fingers curling into the edge of the desk.
“Yes,” he replied, head falling back. “Just like this-”
She was parting her lips again, taking more of him into her mouth, bobbing her head up and down before sucking a little, listening to Sunwoo’s breath hitch above her.
Leah kept an even pace, hand following her own movements, Sunwoo shifting again, a hand coming from the desk to thread through the strands of her hair on the back of her head.
“On my knees for you?”
Leah asked teasingly, pulling her mouth from him with a pop before licking another long stripe up the length of him, caressing him with her tongue.
“Sucking your dick?”
She was already taking him back in, Sunwoo tripping over his words for a second as his fingers tightening in her hair-
“Shit, yes Leah, yeah, I’ve definitely been wanting this all night-”
And she knew that; saw how he’d been looking at her, eyes lingering, wandering, dark and suggestive as their gazes met throughout the night.
It’s why she was here; it’s why her point was so easy to prove.
She started moving her head a little faster, twisting her wrist as her hand kept the rhythm, sucking harder, Sunwoo’s breathing a little labored now as he fought not to thrust into her mouth.
He was moaning low in his throat, holding her hair out of the way, Leah’s eyes flickering up to see his head falling back again, eyes closed, lips parted, a little fargone, just the way she wanted him-
And she relaxed her throat, taking as much of him into her mouth as she could handle before sucking once more, eyes squeezing shut at the loud groan that felt ripped from Sunwoo’s throat, his finger scratching into her scalp.
“Ohmygod-” he whispered, breathless. “Fuck, Leah-”
She would’ve smiled if she could, working her tongue around him as she kept sucking, bringing him closer to the edge, Sunwoo’s breath catching loudly in his throat as his hips shifted harshly against the desk-
“Shit-”
He was panting now, pushing on her head just slightly as if asking her to move faster, and Leah obliged, another strangled moan slipping from his lips-
“Keep going, baby-”
Leah knew he was close now, Sunwoo always saying that when he was about to finish-
“God, don’t stop-”
And Leah gathered all her strength before coming to a screeching halt, taking her mouth quickly from around him before falling back a bit.
“Leah-” Sunwoo breathed, eyes shooting open as he tilted down to look at her, chest heaving.
“It’s just…” she began thoughtfully, ignoring his shocked expression. “I seem to remember you saying that I can’t resist you-”
Sunwoo was just staring at her, dumbfounded and still out of breath, Leah continuing.
“I remember you saying that I couldn’t tell you no, and the only reason why we ever hook up is because I can’t seem to control myself when we’re together.”
“Wha-?”
Sunwoo finally spoke, gathering his wits a bit as his eyebrows furrowed.
“Leah, what are you-?”
But his words were lost as she started running her hand up and down his dick again, swiping her thumb along his slit teasingly, Sunwoo twitching into her palm-
“Yet here we are…”
She trailed off, leaning forward once more and dragging her tongue up the length of him for the third time that night, slow and steady, eyes locked with his.
Sunwoo’s eyelids fluttered, and she watched him swallow hard before she was speaking once more.
“So if what you said is true…” she went on. “Does that mean you can easily resist me?”
And finally, realization was flickering across the features of his face, her boyfriend finally understanding what she was doing, what she was insinuating-
“No, Leah,” he replied, and he sounded almost annoyed- impatient as he looked down at her. “That’s not what I meant-”
But she didn’t like his tone; she didn’t like how it sounded like he was giving her the answer he thought she wanted just so Leah would keep going-
“Are you sure?”
She was parting her lips again, taking just the tip of his dick into her mouth, sucking a little, still looking up at him as Sunwoo’s eyes slipped closed again.
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sure-”
Breathless and impatient again, Sunwoo’s fingers were tangled into her hair once more.
“Please, Leah, just-”
She pulled back again.
“I mean, if you really think our sex life is one-sided-”
Leah’s tongue was running another slow circle around the rim of his head, Sunwoo shivering, fingers tightening-
“-and you have all the power…”
She closed her mouth around his length, moving slowly up and down, sucking hard, Sunwoo moaning brokenly above her-
And then she pulled off again.
“You would be fine if I just stopped, ri-?”
“No, I wouldn’t-”
Sunwoo’s voice was a little more whiny, desperate, and she saw his grip tighten on the desk behind him.
“I want you so bad, please-”
She knew he probably wouldn’t break this easily if he wasn’t a little drunk. If she hadn’t teased him all night with his favorite fantasy, maybe Sunwoo would’ve put up a little more of a fight.
Her boyfriend had always been so stubborn.
But she liked him like this- the rush of power not quite like anything else- and she grinned, licking him once more, moving her hand up and down.
“So you can’t resist me either?” she asked playfully, twisting her wrist again, lips ghosting across his dick as she spoke. “You can’t say no, either-”
“No, I can’t-”
Sunwoo’s voice was strained, and she saw him swallow hard again.
“-I’m sorry, it was a joke, I didn’t mean-”
“That you’re the only one with the upper hand?”
She finished his sentence for him, hand moving faster and building more friction, Sunwoo’s hips thrusting slightly into the movement as she squeezed-
“That you’ve got me wrapped around your finger and I’m just whipped for you?”
“No, I didn’t mean it-” Sunwoo was whiny again, head still thrown back as she moved. “I can’t resist you either, I need you, too, please-”
And those were the magic words Leah was looking for- his actual admittance that he was just as affected by her as she was by him- and she grinned, immediately taking her hand from his dick.
He looked down again, but didn’t have time to speak before she was standing up quickly, his fingers slipping from her hair. She grabbed his tie once more, pulling a little as she brought her lips to his.
“Good,” she whispered, kissing him quickly. “Do you wanna fuck me on this desk?”
Sunwoo laughed breathlessly, and she giggled too, his hands falling to her hips as he kissed her chastely right back.
“Yeah,” he muttered.
And then his grip was tightening, flipping her around as Leah squeaked. Sunwoo took one hand from her hips to push on her back, and Leah fell gently, curving her body over the desk, hands pressed into the hard wooden surface.
“Fuck, you look hot like this,” she heard Sunwoo mutter behind her, already flipping her skirt up and out of the way. “I’ve been wanting to do this all night.”
Leah’s eyes fell closed as she exhaled, weight falling to her forearms as she curved her back a little more for him.
“Me too,” she admitted, voice catching in her throat.
She’d proven her point- she’d taught him his lesson- and now she wanted him, wanted Sunwoo to show her just how much he couldn’t resist her-
His fingers scratched lightly across her skin as he pulled her panties down her legs, Leah kicking them quickly off her ankles before she felt him coming closer once more, hands caressing her ass, smacking it once as she yelped in surprise.
Sunwoo grabbed her hips, Leah biting her lip, both of them moaning together as he slipped inside her, pausing for only a second.
Then he was moving somewhat fast- rough- Leah’s nails digging into her own palms as she tried to catch her breath, the feeling of it so good- always so good-
Sunwoo was groaning deeply, holding her tight, his bruising grip sending a shiver down her spine as she whimpered a little, just as desperate for this as he was.
Their skin was already slick with sweat, their heavy breathing echoing loudly in the small room.
“Ugh, Leah-”
His voice was a little strained as he kept moving, nails digging harshly into her skin-
“You feel amazing-”
He was always such a talker when he was drunk, and Leah loved it, a small whimper slipping from her lips, the build-up between them all night almost too much now, a hot, burning tightness in her lower abdomen-
“You too,” she breathed, fists clenching as she spoke. “So good-”
Sunwoo moaned at her words while Leah positioned her legs on the ground a little better before matching his thrusts with her hips, building the friction, wanting more-
“Yes, shit-”
He was holding the folded fabric of her skirt sitting just above her hips, letting her move for a minute, guiding her with his grip.
“Ah-”
Sunwoo was choking a little on the air around him, gasping before moving into her once more, Leah mewling loudly at the feeling of it-
And she knew they wouldn’t last much longer- knew they’d been on edge for too long- and she could feel the heat inside her building, chasing the feeling-
“Fuck, ohmygod-”
He was a little whinier again, desperation in every word as his movements became slightly uncoordinated.
“Yes, yes, yes-”
And then Sunwoo was moaning so loudly, Leah was sure someone must’ve heard, the man finally coming undone as he kept hold of her hips.
The feel of him still moving inside her and his sharp exhales of obvious pleasure had Leah toppling headfirst over the edge, pressing her face into her arm as she cried out, biting into her own skin to muffle the noise.
They rode out their orgasms together, Sunwoo finishing first, Leah falling limply onto the desk shortly afterwards, forehead hitting the wood with a dull thud.
For a minute, it was quiet, their breaths evening out, Sunwoo’s fingers loosening around her hips before he was gently caressing the skin in a loving, absentminded gesture.
“Holy shit,” Sunwoo said softly, breaking the temporary silence as she giggled weakly beneath him.
“Yeah,” her voice was raspy and a little fucked. “Holy shit.”
He slipped out of her, Leah using what little strength she had to lift her body off the desk, turning around and leaning heavily against it.
They grinned at one another, Sunwoo reaching out to fix some strands of her hair, flattening them with his palm.
“You should teach me a lesson more often,” he said cheekily.
And Leah laughed with a shake of her head, leaning forward to kiss him languidly on the lips.
“Say something stupid again,” she whispered, pulling playfully on the tie still wrapped around his neck. “And I just might.”

They spent the next few minutes making small talk in the kitchen, Jisung telling her about some of his favorite classes when she asked while she answered his curious questions about her Masters in English degree and how long it took her to get it.
“Six years?” Jisung laughed just as she was lifting a few noodles out with her chopsticks, checking to see if they were done. “It makes sense, it’s a lot of school, but wow…”
She dropped the noodles back in the water- they were done- turning around to grab some bowls. Eunae froze when she saw him smiling, eyebrows raised in surprise.
“What?” she asked with a giggle, feeling a little giddy off the wine; Eunae was just about done with her first glass.
“That’s just impressive,” he told her sincerely. “I’ve always wanted a Masters, just not sure if I have the patience for that much school, honestly.”
“You can do it,” she told him easily, trying to ignore his eyes darting up and down her figure and how it sent a jolt straight through her system. “It’s not so bad once you get done with all the prerequisite crap.”
Eunae pulled two bowls out of the cabinet, carefully pouring the ramen in each of them after turning off the stove. Jisung came over to help, using the chopsticks she’d left on the counter to stir it up.
“Thanks,” she smiled at him, handing him another set of chopsticks before moving to the other side of the counter for their bottle of wine. “Need a refill?”
Jisung looked up, grinning in delight before nodding behind him at his abandoned, empty wine glass.
“Yes, please.”
Glasses refilled, bottle of wine in Eunae’s free hand, and ramen stirred, they made their way carefully into her small living room. Jisung placed the bowls on her rickety coffee table before they were sitting side by side on the only couch she had, moving her over abundance of pillows out of the way.
“Here,” she handed him his full glass, and he nodded thankfully at her, taking a generous gulp.
Eunae followed his lead, enjoying the light buzz from the wine before setting the glass down, grabbing her ramen and sitting cross-legged. Jisung did the same, the two of them cradling their bowls in their hands, sitting across from one another as their eyes met for a moment. They both smiled at the same time, then laughed at the same time, which just made them chuckle more before they were digging into the food.
It was exactly what Eunae had been looking forward to all day- she’d been craving ramen since her second vending machine meal at work- and she hummed in satisfaction, the spicy taste oddly complimenting the sweetness of the wine.
“Wow, okay, this is good,” the younger looked up with wide eyes, making her snort with laughter. “No, I’m serious!”
“Jisung,” she giggled, raising her eyebrows in amusement. “It’s just ramen.”
He laughed at that, taking another bite and quickly swallowing it before he shook his head.
“No, look, this is much better than what I make at home,” he told her quickly, lifting the bowl a little as he spoke. “I… am not a great cook.”
“Okay, but how do you mess up ramen?” Eunae asked with a giggle, sipping on her wine again. “You put in the seasoning, boil the water, drop in the noodles, cook for four minutes. What could go wrong?”
“I… ” he hesitated, looking a little embarrassed, biting his lip for a moment before glancing up at her through the fringe of his hair. “I might’ve totally messed that up.”
She took another hurried drink, wondering if he was looking at her like that on purpose or if he was just accidentally flirtatious with his facial expressions.
“I need to know the story,” she told him quickly, distracting herself from her own thoughts. “Tell me.”
He chuckled under his breath, setting his ramen down in favor of his wine, taking a long drink before talking.
“So, my first week in the dorms, I bought this brand new microwave so we wouldn’t have to go to the commons to make food every day,” he began, swishing the contents of his glass around as he grinned. “And I bought all these microwave ramens; you know the ones with the plastic bowls-”
“Yeah, yeah,” Eunae was already smiling in anticipation, nodding quickly at his answer.
“Okay, well-” he laughed again, taking a small sip of wine. “-so I guess the buttons on my microwave weren’t the same or something? I don’t know-”
“What?” she giggled. “The buttons were different?”
“I don’t know,” he waved his hand at her in mock annoyance. “Point is, I put it in for way too long…”
He paused and Eunae pressed her lips together to keep from laughing again.
“I left to pee and when I came back the whole place smelled like burning plastic…” he went on, avoiding her eyes as he finished. “I guess I hit ten minutes instead of four, and uh-”
Eunae couldn’t stop the giggles now as his face turned sheepish and he laughed along with her, switching out his wine for his ramen again.
“Okay, you proved me wrong,” she told him, copying his actions and stirring her remaining food with her chopsticks. “You can mess up ramen.”
“And this is better than I can make at home,” Jisung added charmingly, lifting the bowl just slightly before taking a large bite of the noodles.
She was still smiling as she took her own bite, but the expression faded a little as she was reminded of Daehyun all over again.
“I’m glad you think so,” she found herself saying. “My ex always said he was the better cook and I should stay out of the kitchen.”
Eunae remembered thinking it was a joke, at first, when Daehyun would say things like that.
But when it felt more like a power trip on making fun of her than it felt like a teasing, loving joke, she’d found herself hurt every time he made the comment.
Jisung glanced up at her, eyes widening a little as he looked over the features of her face.
“Wow,” he finally said with a scoff. “Sounds like a dick.”
She chuckled at that, shrugging and picking up the last of her noodles with her chopsticks.
“He totally was.”
It was awkward for a moment, as they both drank the broth in their bowls, and Eunae felt a little guilty bringing up Daehyun like that.
Way to make him uncomfortable, Eunae
“Uh… sorry,” she told him before she lost her nerve, setting her empty bowl on the coffee table and grabbing her wine again. “I… we broke up a couple weeks ago. I didn’t mean to sound like a bitter old lady… I’m just- still annoyed with him, I guess.”
Eunae was embarrassed by her honestly, hurriedly sipping her wine to hide her expression as Jisung watched her, slowly putting his ramen to the side before grabbing his own glass. He glanced at the half-empty contents before glancing up at her over the rim, their eyes meeting for a moment.
“You’re not old,” he told her with a one-sided smile. “And if he was a dick, hey, I’d be bitter too.”
He shrugged before taking another large drink, making her giggle.
Well that’s a simple way to put it
“Thanks,” she told him gratefully before changing the subject. “So… when’d you get the motorcycle?”
“Oh Jenny?” he asked, and she raised her eyebrows in amusement, making him laugh. “Yeah, I named her…”
“It’s okay,” she giggled- yeah, this wine was starting to kick in a bit- waving her free hand quickly at him. “My car we left at the university? Yeah, her name is Hot Tamale.”
Jisung snorted into his wine glass.
“It’s true!” she insisted. “It’s my favorite candy, and she’s red, so-”
“I like it. It fits you.”
His eyes were sparkling a little, locking with hers for a moment before they slipped closed and he tilted his head back, finishing off the last of his wine.
Eunae felt her cheeks burn a little as her eyes roamed over the smooth expanse of his neck, his tan skin glowing in the soft lighting of her living room, tracing the line of his jaw-
And then she was quickly pulling her gaze away as he straightened up.
“I got the motorcycle as soon as I turned eighteen,” he went back to her original question, giving no indication that he’d caught her blatantly checking him out. “I’ve known how to ride for a while, and it was a lot cheaper than a car.”
She watched him shrug again as he put his glass on the table before he was giving her one of those one-sided, mischievous grins she’d seen a few times that night already.
“Plus, I kinda like the thrill.”
Her heart jumped in her throat, way too attracted to the dangerous gleam in his eyes as she reached hastily for the wine bottle, giving them refills.
“It was more fun than I thought it’d be,” she told him, still avoiding his eyes as she concentrated on her task. “I know I told you, but I’ve never rode on a motorcycle before; it was kind of cool.”
She finished off the bottle- holy shit, already?- setting it down a little clumsily before holding his glass out to him.
“Thanks,” he told her, his grin still playful as he took it. “Glad I could be your first time.”
The remark was blatantly flirty this time, and Eunae felt a small, nervous laugh slip from her lips as she straightened back up on the couch. He was watching her in slight amusement, and before she could come up with anything to say to that, there was a loud, rumbling coming from outside that had them raising their eyebrows in surprise.
“Thunder?” Eunae asked, glancing out the window. “Was it supposed to storm?”
“There was a possibility, I think,” Jisung turned to the window just as the rain started, the plunking of the drops echoing in the small fireplace in the corner of her living room.
“Shit,” Eunae was looking at him again with widened eyes. “Are you gonna be able to get home?”
It was the first time she’d really thought about the fact that she’d just given this guy three glasses of wine; was she expecting him to go home anytime soon, anyway?
“I’ll be fine,” Jisung told her easily, sitting back on the cushions a little as he smiled at her. “I’ve driven in the rain tons of times.”
“Well you’ve also had wine,” she told him, nodding at his glass just as he was bringing it to his lips. “So you might be stuck here a while. I can’t let you drive in this, especially not drunk.”
Jisung took a small drink before raising his eyebrows in amusement.
“You sure you don’t just want to hang out with me?” he teased, and she scoffed at the comment, giggling again.
Damn this wine
“Shut up,” she told him playfully, taking a sip of her drink before her eyes were wandering to the kitchen.
If he’s gonna be here a while…
“Do you like Soju?” she asked spontaneously, setting her wine on the table and standing up.
“I love it,” he replied, laughing a little at her sudden movement. “Why?”
“I’ll be right back.”
She moved around the table, body warm from the alcohol, mind relaxed as she smiled at Jisung.
“If we’re gonna be stuck, we might as well take some shots.”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Alright, I’ve got to ask.”
Jisung’s cheeks were a little pink, and Eunae could only imagine what her face looked like, as she giggled at his words.
There was a large, half-empty bottle of Soju sitting between them, squished into the cushions so it wouldn’t tip over, as they both held clumsily to their shot glasses. Their wine had been tapped off about an hour ago before they switched it out for Soju, the rain continuing on, a subtle hum in the background as they conversed.
“What do you have to ask?” she inquired with another laugh, pulling the Soju from the cushions and giving them a refill.
“Are you a professor?”
She nearly dropped the bottle, smiling nervously as she hastily shoved it back into the couch.
They’d been talking about classes again- the best and the worst- and some of the odd electives they wish they could take if they had all the money in the world. It hadn’t escaped Jisung’s notice, it seemed, that he’d found her parked at the university, but she’d already completed her Masters, and had already admitted earlier in the night that she wasn’t taking classes...
“No-”
Eunae tried to lie, she did, but she was full on drunk now, and the grin on her face was a dead give away.
Jisung just stared at her in playful disbelief, snorting at her answer.
“Okay, okay, fine,” she told him with a roll of her eyes. “Yes. I’m a professor.”
She glanced down at the shot in her hands before taking it, watching as he followed her lead, tilting his head back as he dumped the clear liquid down his throat.
And she was looking at him again, her eyes following the movement of his adam’s apple and the way he exhaled as he sat up straight once more-
“I… shouldn’t be doing this with you,” Eunae admitted guiltily, yanking her eyes away too late; Jisung had seen her looking this time. “You’re a student and I’m… well. A professor.”
But he just laughed softly at that, shrugging his shoulders as he fidgeted a little on the cushions, getting more comfortable.
“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal,” he told her easily. “I’m not your student, so… why does it matter?”
She rolled her eyes at his nonchalance, a reluctant smile pulling on the corners of her lips.
“Okay, but I’m like, way older than you-”
“Eh, that’s not important,” Jisung said, a playful brightness in his eyes as he reached for the Soju. “Besides, I like older girls.”
Eunae was scoffing at his words just as he was leaning forward to refill her shot glass before topping off his own. She eyed the contents of the bottle, noting that it was more than halfway empty.
Yeah, we’re definitely drunk
She could feel the warmth in her arms and the giddy bubble in her throat as her laughter at his answer was a little delayed, shaking her head.
“Older girls...” she muttered, watching him take his shot before quickly following his lead, letting the burning liquid slide down her throat before continuing. “You make me sound ancient. I’m only twenty eight.”
“See?” Jisung pointed at her, a smug smile on his face. “You’re only twenty eight-”
She paused, eyes darting across the features of his face for a moment before she was waving her hand annoyedly at him.
“Okay, whatever,” she heard him snort, and she had a strong urge to shove him right off the couch. “How many ‘older girls’ have you really dated?”
“A lot, actually,” Jisung answered with a shrug, eyebrows raising in playful amusement. “All my girlfriends have been older.”
Eunae wasn’t sure what to say to that, feeling her mouth drop open a little in slight surprise. She supposed she shouldn’t be- he had a charm to him and an air of maturity that was appealing- and while he looked young, he didn’t look too young, and the way he carried himself made him seem confident.
Experienced
“All of them?” it was all she could say as she swallowed hard, trying to push her thoughts to the back of her brain.
“Yeah,” Jisung chuckled, rolling the shot glass between his fingers as he spoke. “My first was my senior year, and I hooked up with my best friend’s sister who was in grad school-”
Eunae laughed in disbelief, eyes widening a little.
“-I had just turned eighteen, and she was twenty four… But I mean, we got along well, so neither of us really minded…”
“Wow,” she nodded slowly, watching him laugh as he took in the expression on her face. “Impressive.”
“Impressive?” he repeated, flicking some hair out of his face as she saw that playful, flirty smile pulling on the corner of his lips again.
“I-” she tripped for a second, eyes darting to the empty shot glass in her hands. “I just- well, I’m around the same age as her, and I personally have only dated older guys, so-”
She shrugged, wondering when she had become so stumbly; she was an English Professor for God sakes-
“Do you like it?” he asked, and her eyes darted up to meet his.
Jisung’s gaze was roaming carefully along the features of her face, and she felt her stomach flip unexpectedly.
“Uh, I mean, usually older guys are fine,” she told him honestly, watching as he moved the Soju bottle between them again, clumsily shoving it between the cushions. “But my last one… that didn’t work out so well.”
Before she could recognize that she was bringing up Daehyun again, she watched Jisung let go of the Soju, misjudging how secure it was in the couch cushions.
Eunae scooted forward on pure instinct, catching the green bottle before it could go tumbling to the floor, her knees knocking against his. Jisung’s hands clasped over hers in an attempt to catch it as well, and she tried to ignore the tingly feeling the touch left behind as he quickly pulled his fingers away.
She adjusted the bottle more securely, Jisung grinning sheepishly at her, fixing the shot glass sitting between his crossed legs.
“Sorry,” he looked somewhat guiltily.
She made sure the bottle wasn’t moving before waving her hand hurriedly at him.
“You’re fine, I promise. I’ve spilled a thousand things on this old couch. It wouldn’t have been the end of the world.”
His smile softened a little, and a small bout of silence fell between them as Jisung seemed to be considering something, his eyes darting along the features of her face again.
“So…” he began, breaking the silence as she felt her heart quicken a little. “What happened? With the other guy?”
Eunae immediately chuckled at the question, and she could still feel his eyes on her as she looked away, running her fingers absentmindedly along the Soju bottle between them.
“Well, we were dating for a while, and actually used to live together in this apartment,” she motioned around quickly, still avoiding his eyes. “-and uh… about two weeks ago, I’d come home early from work, when my meeting got cancelled and-”
She swallowed around the bitter lump in her throat before continuing.
“-I found him in our room, hooking up with some other girl.”
Jisung shifted on the couch, and she finally glanced up at him, seeing the pinch between his eyebrows, smile completely faded.
“He’s a jerk for that,” he told her softly, and she laughed without humor, shrugging again in an attempt at nonchalance.
“He was a jerk anyway,” Eunae told him honestly. “He was masoginistic as fuck and I couldn’t seem to do anything right.”
Jisung raised his eyebrows at that, and it was the first time she’d noticed her knees were still pressed against his; they were sitting closer now.
How drunk am I?
“I’m not one hundred percent sure why I was still with him.”
She continued talking, ignoring her thoughts, suddenly wanting to tell someone about this. Eunae hadn’t spoken to anyone about Daehyun in two weeks, other than the bitter “He cheated on me”, and it was therapeutic, with the alcohol bringing a warmth to her skin and a looseness to her state of mind, making it easier to just… talk.
“There were times he was just… so sweet,” she explained, reassured not only by the liquid courage of Soju, but also by Jisung’s eyes, somehow understanding as he listened without interruption. “But he became worse over time… I think I’d been caught up and I was too in love with him to just… leave.”
Eunae bit her lip, thinking of all the many red flags she’d had the last couple of years, disappointed in herself; why hadn’t she done something?
“I’m not sure what I was thinking,” she admitted quietly, smiling sadly at her own stupidity.
“It’s okay,” he told her gently, an encouraging smile on his face as he shrugged. “We all make mistakes, right? I’ve done some pretty stupid shit too, don’t worry.”
He was running a hand through his hair, his knees pressing against hers with the movement, and she felt her stomach twist a little at how attractive he was to her in that moment.
“Thanks,” she told him sincerely, watching the strands drop back into place before her eyes were meeting his. “You know, you’re kind of mature for your age.”
Jisung chuckled at that, glancing at his lap before looking at her through his lashes.
“Thanks,” he replied. “I get that all the time.”
I bet you do
It was dangerous, how drunk she was.
Her equilibrium hadn’t been truly balanced in hours, the living room subtly swimming around her, and her head was muddled, a floaty, content feeling flooding her mind and seeping slowly through her veins beneath her skin.
Jisung, he was tempting, with a handsome face, thick hair, close, with his knees pressed against hers and just as drunk as she was. He was flirty and a little cocky, but weirdly sweet, and she wasn’t even sure how long they’d been like that, just talking, laughing and drinking, like they hadn’t just met that evening.
Eunae glanced at the clock- 12:08am- wondering if he had class the next day and how much she was going to hate herself for getting this hammered on a work night.
Fuck it
She reached for the Soju, figuring she deserved to let loose just a little; she’d been permanently tense since that day she’d walked in on Daehyun fucking another girl in their bed.
Jisung held up his shot glass, and they grinned at one another as she poured him some Soju, refilling her own glass as they both held up their drinks.
“To stupid mistakes?” she asked with a giggle, Jisung chuckling at her words before nodding.
“To stupid mistakes.”

Bam leaned forward, resting his elbows on the desk as he folded his fingers together.
“Are either of you aware of what exactly your role as the group manager entails? How the guys being incubi comes into play?”
“I mean…” Maddie began hesitantly, glancing at her best friend for only a moment before answering. “We’re just managing the idol schedules, right? And I guess they’re uh- feeding , I’m sure we have to do that, too… making sure they’re like, safe and stuff?”
“I mean, yeah -” Bam looked amused by her answer, laughing a little. “But do you have any idea why we’re hiring young and single women this time… instead of the usual?”
Maddie had been wondering that, if she was being honest, but she hadn’t spent a lot of time thinking it over; she was honestly still shocked she was even there .
But Lila was different, adjusting in her seat as she smiled tentatively.
“So we can be there to help?” Lila guessed, although she had a feeling she was right.
Bam’s smile widened as he nodded.
“Yes; in case of emergency, we need you two as our back-up.”
Maddie’s mouth dropped open in shock.
"When you say back-up , are you saying-?"
"Yes," Bam grinned, nodding again. "In case of emergency, you'll be their sex partners if needed."
The man continued before either of them could speak.
“So, the thing is, we’ve been having a bit of an issue with the idols lately,” Bam began. “Schedules are tight, they’re traveling all the time, and when there’s an emergency and they need to feed… we don’t have back-up.”
He ran a hand through his hair quickly.
“Getting a feeding partner isn’t a quick business- I’ll give you guys all the details on that later-” he waved his hand dismissively. “And when the idols are in a pinch, it can get complicated pretty quickly.”
“What do you mean ‘ in a pinch ’?” Maddie interrupted.
“Incubi can’t survive without feeding for very long,” Bam explained. “The more energy they use- which the idols use a lot - the more they have to feed. They also have healing abilities, but they have to feed to trigger them, so if there’s an injury on stage, or if one of them has been working too hard and can’t get a partner due to time or something…”
The man shrugged.
“It’s kind of a problem.”
He moved the clipboard with their applications to the side, his forearms falling to the desk.
“It’s been an issue for like, ever ,” he told them. “But the government finally gave us permission to start hiring younger managers.”
Maddie tore her eyes from Bam, turning to Lila in surprise.
“You… knew ?”
Lila shrugged, feeling slightly guilty; she thought her best friend had figured it out already.
“I mean, why else would they ask if we’re young and single?” she replied honestly. “Why would that matter unless…?”
She trailed off and Maddie nodded, feeling kind of stupid.
“Right…”
“You two will be the first to do this,” Bam was grinning as he looked between them. “Kind of like our guinea pigs, if you know what I mean.”
They both chuckled somewhat nervously.
“I honestly think it’s going to be a good fit,” he told them nonchalantly, leaning back in his chair again. “But there is one more thing you’ve gotta do in order for me to hire you.”
Maddie and Lila looked at one another before turning back to the man, watching him smile somewhat playfully.
“We need to test your resistance to Incubus powers.”

Aimee moved her lips in perfect synchronicity with Juyeon’s, crawling gently on top of him as his back slowly lowered to the couch.
Juyeon’s head hit the cushions softly, his hands sliding up the length of her arms supporting her weight above him, their mouths parting for only a moment, heavy breaths hot against Aimee’s lips as she adjusted her body on top of his.
They had her apartment to themselves for less than an hour- her roommate Chanhee had only run to the store and he’d be back- but Aimee was taking advantage of the time she had, Juyeon just as fine with that, slipping right into it the second she’d kissed him.
As her body rested completely on top of his, Aimee was closing her eyes, lips back on Juyeon’s. Her breath caught in her throat a bit at the feel of him pressed against her like that, her leg slotting between his own, Juyeon’s long fingers stuttering a little against her skin.
Aimee turned her head, deepening the kiss, Juyeon immediately doing the same, his hand coming up to sweep her hair out of their faces, flipping it to one side, lifting just slightly to meet her kiss more completely.
Their lips moved more passionately now- slow, but sensual- and Aimee felt his palms slide down the length of her back before coming upwards again, her body caving a bit at how nice it felt.
Then she was running her tongue along the length of his bottom lip, Juyeon inhaling sharply as she did, Aimee enjoying the sweet taste of his soda that still lingered there. His tongue met her own and they were making out smoothly, building a rhythm again, their mingled breaths sharp and hot with need, Aimee moving her hips slowly against his.
Juyeon groaned softly into their kiss, Aimee’s own throat tightening at how good he felt beneath her, grinding against him again, their lips pulling away at the same moment.
“Ugh-” Aimee breathed, annoyed as she glanced at their bodies, Juyeon’s eyes fluttering open when she looked up at him once more. “Why the hell is Chanhee only running to the store?”
He chuckled at her words, one hand sliding up to cup the back of her neck, fingers fiddling with the strands of her hair.
“I don’t know.”
Even his voice was hot, and Aimee could hear it in his tone that he was just as disappointed as she was.
Juyeon’s eyes were dark as they lingered on hers, hair slightly disheveled, the collar of his long sleeved shirt a little crooked, exposing one side of his collar bone, the skin there so smooth somehow-
She quickly closed the distance between them again, feeling a little impatient- they didn’t have much time after all- her lips pressing against his, hot and quick, before she was trailing a line of kisses down the length of his jaw.
Juyeon’s head tilted back automatically at the feel of it, a small sigh slipping from his lips, Aimee wasting no time as she placed a small kiss against his ear before-
“Can I give you a hickey?”
The words were whispered, and she knew she had to ask in case he had an upcoming job; Aimee could cover it up with makeup no problem, but the modeling crew Juyeon worked for would notice in a second.
“Yeah,” Juyeon’s voice was strained as he nodded, cheek dusting against her own. “I don’t have anything ‘til next week.”
It was all the answer Aimee needed, pressing another quick peck to the outer shell of his ear, feeling him shiver a little- he’d always been sensitive there- before moving downwards, making another trail down the side of his neck.
She loved his neck- loved his everything, really- and wondered how she’d ever gotten lucky enough to be with someone so good-looking.
Aimee’s lips caressed his slightly salty skin, tongue coming out to taste the area as she moved downward, Juyeon’s breath hitching beneath her, chin tilting to the left, giving her better access-
She stopped at the middle of his neck, leaving an open-mouthed kiss against the spot before taking the flesh gently between her teeth.
Juyeon’s body immediately tensed beneath her, and she didn’t have to look to know he was biting on his bottom lip, could feel his hand tensing against her shoulder blades, fingers of his other hand twitching a little in the strands of her hair-
Then Aimee was swiping her tongue across the spot before sucking gently, nose buried into his skin.
He sighed softly above her, breath catching in his throat as she sucked a little harder, tasting him again, Aimee not sure why she loved to mark him up so much, just knowing she did-
His hands were sliding down her back again, nails digging in slightly through the fabric of her shirt, Aimee’s body arching automatically into the touch.
Her hips were sliding against his own, thighs still straddling one of his legs, and she could feel how turned on he was, telling her she wasn’t the only one, but she already knew she wasn’t-
Aimee was a little lost in the moment, his fingers now slipping beneath the hem of her shirt, his touch awakening a fire in her as always, releasing the spot on his neck for a moment with a small gasp.
Juyeon was breathing heavily beneath her, Aimee lifting up just enough to see the reddening spot on his tannish skin, leaning down to run her tongue carefully along the indentations from her teeth.
He moaned breathily above her, and the sound of it had Aimee leaning close once more, moving to a new spot just below the first one, licking the area softly, teeth coming out to bite again, leave another mark-
Suddenly, there was a loud, scraping of metal coming from the other room.
It was the lock on the front door; Chanhee was back.
Aimee jumped in surprise, accidentally biting down on Juyeon’s neck just a little too hard, and-
“Ah-”
He lifted off the couch, fingers digging into her lower back, his body pressed more completely against hers-
And then Aimee was taking her mouth quickly from his neck, lifting up to look at him, Juyeon falling back onto the cushions, eyes flickering open, dark as they darted between her own-
She heard the doorknob twist, followed by the distinct squeaking of their rusty hinges before the sound of many rustling bags could be heard, telling her Chanhee was walking into the apartment.
But she was distracted looking at Juyeon, wondering if she’d bit him too hard or if…
If he’d liked it.
“I’m home! Make yourselves decent please, I’m not in the mood to be scarred for life-”
Aimee’s eyes wandered to the small spots on Juyeon’s neck, one much more prominent than the other, before they were making eye contact once more, a flicker of both surprise and curiosity in his eyes she’d never seen before-
“Oh for god’s sake-”
She jumped for the second time, Chanhee standing in the living room now with his hands on his hips, eyebrows raised as he looked between the two of them.
Juyeon was immediately chuckling, shifting beneath her to get into a better position, and Aimee giggled, moving off of him and flashing a guilty smile at her roommate.
“Sorry, Chanhee, we just-”
“Yeah, yeah-”
He waved his hand, a ghost of a smile on his lips before he was moving back to the kitchen, waving for them to follow.
“-just help me put away these groceries.”
Aimee watched him go, she and Juyeon now sitting side by side on the couch. They exchanged one more small smile before standing up, following behind Chanhee.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Aimee, please no, your jokes aren’t funny-”
Aimee was giggling, arm pressed against Juyeon’s, sitting at a picnic table with the rest of their friends, all of them eating ice cream together.
“What?” she glared playfully at Changmin across the table. “My jokes are hilarious-”
Juyeon was chuckling beside her with a shake of her head, a small “tch” coming from Haknyeon before he was scooping out another bite of his ice cream.
“Yeah okay-”
“Wait, wait, okay-”
Aimee put her hand up, Sunwoo already rolling his eyes with a smile, exchanging a look with Chanhee.
“I held the door open for a clown yesterday, and-”
Hyunjae was already groaning, burying his face in his hands, Changmin snorting loudly.
“-it was a nice jester-!”
Aimee was laughing out loud at her own joke, Juyeon chuckling again beside her as Chanhee raised his eyebrows.
“Why do I live with you?” he asked in disbelief.
“I have one more!”
They were all shaking their heads, and Juyeon was laughing louder, shifting beside her-
“No, Aimee-”
He reached over, quickly pressing his palm over her mouth, his eyes sparkling with amusement as she looked at him, still giggling-
Sunwoo threw up his hands to stop her from speaking, accidentally knocking his cup of melting ice cream, splashing everyone on the opposite bench with specks of vanilla-
“Aw, Sunwoo, what the hell-”
“Dude, it got on my pants!”
It was chaos and Aimee took the opportunity to open her mouth, biting somewhat hard on one of Juyeon’s fingers so he would let her go.
He jumped in surprise, turning to look at her again, something flickering across the features of his face before he was taking his hand away, glancing down at the bitten finger.
“Ow,” he said with a soft chuckle.
And Aimee bit her lip as she looked up at him, watching his eyes dart to the movement before she was smiling mischievously.
“Sorry.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aimee’s fingers gripped the bottom of Juyeon’s shirt, quickly pulling on the fabric as her lips moved fiercely with his own, their heavy breaths the only sound in her empty bedroom.
They parted just long enough for her to pull the shirt over his head before their lips were meeting once more, Aimee’s hands immediately running up the length of his bare torso.
Her fingers quickly moved to his shoulders, pushing him hurriedly, Juyeon’s hands pressing into her back to pull her with him as he fell to the mattress beneath them.
They’d been looking forward to this alone time all evening, Chanhee away for the weekend to visit his family, the entire apartment to themselves…
Aimee’s hands pressed into the bed on either side of Juyeon’s body, and she kissed him chastely before she was nudging her nose against his chin, asking without words for him to tilt his head, the man obliging instantly-
Trailing open-mouthed kisses quickly along his jawline, she moved straight to his neck, sliding her tongue along the skin teasingly as Juyeon’s breath hitched, sharp in the silent room.
“Am I okay to-?”
Aimee didn’t finish the sentence, knowing Juyeon knew what she meant, surprised by how out of breath she sounded.
“Yeah,” his palms slid roughly down the bare skin of her back, catching on the straps of her bra. “Nothing ‘til next month now-”
It was all Aimee needed to hear- thank god for Juyeon’s spaced out modeling schedule- her lips caressing the skin of his neck before taking the flesh between her teeth-
Juyeon shivered beneath her, head tilted back further, and she reveled in the soft moan that slipped from his lips when she sucked a little harder-
It’d been two weeks since that day on her couch- when she’d bit Juyeon just a little too hard and his reaction had surprised her-
Another week since she’d experimented again, playfully biting his hand during ice cream, that darkness in his eyes when he’d looked at her more intriguing than Aimee wanted to admit-
And now she had him right beneath her, a night alone finally, and Aimee found herself very…
Curious.
Releasing the skin, she slid further down his body, stopping at the juncture of his neck and shoulder, kissing the spot once before biting gently.
She heard Juyeon suck in a breath, body tensing, and she smiled slightly before sucking again, wanting to leave another small mark.
His hands were sliding up her back again, one of them threading into the strands of her hair, and the feel of his bare skin against her own had her feeling bold, hesitating before sinking her teeth just a little deeper into the spot-
Juyeon hissed loudly, his fingers curling into her, and Aimee stopped, pulling back to stare at the marks she’d just made.
Her heart was racing in her chest, only hesitating for another moment before she was moving back to his neck, taking the flesh between her teeth once more, biting a little harder-
The soft, strangled moan that slipped from Juyeon’s lips shot through Aimee’s body like electricity, fascinated by this-
They’d only been dating for a few months, and she knew there was still so much she didn’t know, but she wondered if Juyeon knew-
“Juyeon.”
Aimee whispered his name, moving further upwards, lips hovering just above his ear as she spoke.
“Hm?”
He sounded distracted as he hummed in response, eyes still closed.
“Do you have a thing for this?”
Juyeon shifted a little beneath her as Aimee’s breath ghosted across his ear, and she saw him swallow a little before-
“What?”
Chuckling softly, he sounded both nervous and a little shy, and Aimee felt her eyebrows raise before she was leaning a little closer.
“Ju…”
She grinned.
“...I think you have a biting kink.”
Before he could answer, she was biting gently on the top of his ear, tongue sliding along the cartilage, and Aimee felt him arch a little off the bed, nails digging into her back-
“See?” she whispered, releasing his ear.
Juyeon’s answering laugh came out in a rush of air, like he’d been holding his breath.
“I- I don’t know-”
He seemed almost just as surprised as she was, and Aimee felt sparks of excitement rushing through her veins as she slid down his body, the feel of that alone making her eyelids flutter-
Her mouth hovered just above his right shoulder, and she glanced up at him- head still digging slightly into the pillow beneath him, hair disheveled and hanging in his closed eyes- before she was biting the skin somewhat hard.
Juyeon groaned, moving beneath her, grip tightening in the strands of her hair still sitting between his fingers, and she let go, looking up at him again-
“Was that good?” she asked softly, voice teasing as she moved further down.
“Yeah,” Juyeon admitted lowly, nodding once.
Aimee saw him swallow hard as she stopped at his collar bone, only hesitating for a second before she was biting again, teeth sinking into the soft flesh-
“There?” she asked just as Juyeon was gasping beneath her.
“Yes-”
He was nodding again.
She lifted a little to look at him, running one hand along his side, admiring every bit of him.
Juyeon was beautiful, the handsome features of his face contorted in curious pleasure, hair a disheveled mess across the pillow, shoulders broad, one of them tinging pink with the bite mark she’d just given. His skin was sun-kissed and smooth in the dark of her bedroom, and her fingers were sliding along the soft muscles of his upper body, eyes following the small line of hair on his lower abdomen, disappearing into his jeans-
Aimee’s throat tightened with arousal, quickly lowering her head once more, placing messy, uncoordinated kisses across his chest.
“Can I experiment?” she asked, hushed and breathy as her hand trailed to the button of his jeans, sliding past it to run along the hardness beneath his zipper.
“Ex-Experiment?” Juyeon repeated with a small laugh, his voice strained, hips lifting automatically into her hand.
“Yeah, you know…”
Aimee moved to the very top of his abdomen, immediately sinking her teeth into the flesh, Juyeon’s breath coming out in a rush beneath her.
“Oh-”
Juyeon was surprised by his own reactions, Aimee could tell, but also seemed completely intrigued, his fingers in her hair brushing the strands off her neck.
“Yeah, okay-”
She grinned.
“Okay.”
She lifted up again, making quick work of the button and zipper of his jeans, moving the fabric of his boxers quickly out of the way before her fingers were wrapping around the base of his erection, Juyeon groaning softly.
Then Aimee was balancing her weight on one arm, mouth hovering over the middle of his stomach, hand moving smoothly up and down his dick, biting his skin once more.
“Ah-”
His reaction was immediate, arching his back a little off the bed, hand slipping clumsily up her back as Aimee moved further down his body. She was building a steady rhythm with her hand, thumb swiping across his slit before sliding down his erection once more.
Then she was biting him again, a little lower on his abdomen, the muscles there stuttering beneath her lips as she heard him moan a little louder, his hand sliding roughly off her shoulder and falling to the mattress beside him.
Aimee’s veins were burning with desire- the want to please him and play with this newfound kink of his- her lips caressing the skin of his right hip bone, only hesitating for a second before she was biting harder than before, the skin salty beneath her tongue-
“Sh-Shit-” he breathed out sharply, as if the word had slipped out before he could stop it.
Her palm was sliding quicker up and down the length of him, squeezing a little, twisting her wrist on an upward stroke as she felt his hips stutter with her movements.
She moved to the other hip bone, twisting her wrist again, listening to his breath catch before she was biting once more, tasting the skin there-
He was groaning, louder than she was used to, the sound of it sending an excited jolt through her chest, hand moving even quicker-
“You like it?” she found herself asking, sounding a little winded. “You like when I bite you, Juyeon?”
“Yes,” his answer was immediate, strained and a little desperate, no longer surprised, only wanton.
Aimee was immediately moving her mouth above her first mark, biting the flesh beneath her lips just a little harder, wondering what he could take, what he liked-
His sharp inhale, fingers pulling a little on the strands of her hair, it w as music to her ears, Aimee’s hand still sliding up and down his dick, faster, tightening her grip just slightly.
Juyeon was close- she could tell by the way he was shifting on the bed, breaths short and quick, hips coming up a little to meet her movements-
She was biting again, on his side now, right above the waistband of his boxers, and she saw the fingers of his free hand digging into the mattress beside him, curling into the fabric of the sheets.
“AhAimee-”
The words came out in a rush, barely above a whisper, another moan catching in his throat as he moved more fluently into her hand-
She didn’t stop, only met the pace of his hips, twisting her wrist one last time and squeezing again, sinking her teeth into another spot on his side, biting harder than she had all night-
“Shit-” Juyeon was saying again, sounding surprised this time, desperate once more.
Aimee’s eyes flickered up to look at him, his head tilted back too much for her to see his face, could only see his parted lips, neck glistening a little with sweat, chest rising and falling with his quick breaths, hand still gripping hard to the sheets beneath him-
Then Aimee was sinking her teeth into him for the final time, eyes closing as she heard him moan in a shocked sort of pleasure, louder than usual again, pulling almost too hard on her hair-
And Juyeon finally finished, toppling over the edge quickly, Aimee’s hand still sliding up and down to work him through it, slowly prying her teeth from his skin.
There was a moment of silence when his body had finally lowered back onto the bed, Aimee almost just as out of breath as he was, watching him slowly let go of the sheets, sliding his fingers through his slightly damp hair and gripping the dark strands.
Aimee was smiling now, feeling completely pleased with herself, his other hand slowly slipping from her own tangled hair and dropping to his other side.
She crawled up the bed, resting her palms on his chest as she laid on top of him. Settling her chin on her knuckles, she watched as he lifted up to look down at her, chuckling softly before his eyes were slipping closed once more, head falling back onto the pillow.
“Did you know you had a biting kink?” she asked in amusement.
Aimee watched as the corners of Juyeon’s lips lifted into a crooked, curious smile.
“No…”
His reply was soft, pulling his fingers from his hair and dropping his arm above his head.
“I had no idea.”
