I know its hopeless telling you now,

With all that's happened and all that will.

But still, here I am, clinging.

Clinging to the faint hope that one day will be my lucky day,

The day that you run to me and profess that I am the one you've always wanted.

I know I'm a fool, you don't have to say it

Taunt me with your endless eyes

Echoing caves I could get lost in if you only gave me the chance.

Maybe I'll finish the book of poetry one day,

Gift it to you with a red ribbon and an effortless flourish of the pen I hide my soul behind.

Cleanse me, Lady Aphrodite

Wash my soul.

Carry me away with your perception of everything

That strong technicolour wave from the dictionary that is your wonderful mind

Take me to that beautiful place you dream of

Where we can be one.

The altar in your eyes will be my resting place,

Let me die

Let me be as close to you as I can be.

Our veins intertwine,

A river of life.

You'll come back. You always did.

Back from school, your backpack dumped by the door though Mam told you to hang it up.

Back from a friends house, your chubby fist clutched around a drawing. Crayola, my favourite smell.

That predictable routine of returning is what kept me waiting for you for so long.

I understand. You've been busy. Haven't we all? I mean you've been out there gathering memories almost as fast as I've been gathering dust, lost and forgotten, trapped in a box in a strange place far from the sunlight. Far from my friends.

But one day, you let me out. And everything was wrong.

Your walls used to be pink. I know they were, I remember how excited you were to paint them. And you had a poster on your wall, just one, with princesses on it. I know you did, you used to whisper into my ear soft innocent fantasies about running through the woods, crown in one hand, basket of blackberries in the other.

But the worst change was you.

You looked old. Tired. You never would have cut your hair like that, you never would have worn those ugly black clothes. No, you loved dresses and pink and listening to pop hits on the radio with Dad. What's wrong with you? Why do you have the eyes of someone different? I know its you, deep down, but the you I know has been buried. Replaced.

Bring her back. Just one more time?

Let me see the little girl again, just once. Let her change my outfit, brush my hair, whisper soft sweet fantasies too me again just once. I know you've kept her safe somewhere.

I'll wait for her. She'll come back.

She always does, right?

So, recently, the UK supreme Court made a ruling that essentially erases trans women's rights to same sex spaces, and declaring that trans women aren't women. I have never been so disgusted in my life. Trans women ARE women. They always will be. This ongoing attack against transgender people, especially transgender women, is getting worse day by fucking day and I'm sick of it. You aren't wrong, or evil, and you do not deserve to disappear. They can make laws, they can make public statements, but they can never take away your identity and our culture. We aren't wrong for living how we want to live. If you need to rant, or scream or cry on my shoulder then I am always here to listen to you. I know making a drawing and rambling my frustrations isn't activism in any respect, but I feel like this is all I can do at this moment. I am always here for trans women, trans men, non binary people, fellow genderfluid people, everyone under the LGBTQ+ umbrella. Always.

And if anyone is celebrating this news, genuinely fuck you. You're a REPREHENSIBLE human being, and the fact that you have such an opposition to other human beings happiness is utterly vile. Stay away from me if this news makes you happy.

You are not wrong for existing.
