Perseus vs Medusa

I don't know if anyone has pointed it out before, but i really like the parallel of Percy holding up Medusa's head the same way statue Perseus does.

Like, the ⭐️symbolism⭐️ of Medusa meeting the same exact fate, despite having her story rewritten and told.

And the foreshadowing of Percy becoming as great of a hero as his namesake.

The only reason I haven't watched Greta Gerwig's Little Women yet is because I already know based off that one scene that I will relate to it too hard and therefore not be able to emotionally handle it

I love that every victor from District 12 won by breaking the rules.

Katniss was proficient with a bow and in a forest because she went past the fence and hunted game illegally; Peeta survived because Katniss threatened for the games to not have a victor after the promised rule (presumably influenced by Haymitch?) if he wasn’t saved; Haymitch won because he used the capitol forcefield against his opponent, bringing their weapon into his game; Lucy won because of rat poison brought into the arena and Snow feeding her scent to the snakes.

There was not a victor from twelve that didn’t backhand the Capitol with their survival. lmao.

Lucy Gray is the songbird but she uses snakes on her “betrayals” and Coriolanus is the snake but he uses a songbird on his betrayal and Lucy can supposedly control snakes by singing but when we see her actually do it on screen is kind of up in the air if it’s her controlling the snakes or if it’s Coriolanus being a snake and cheating the system - which, again, he uses her scent so she is theoretically controlling the snakes but not without his snake ways to keep her alive?????

I love this symbolism so much and I love Hunger Games and I’m going INSANE

Do you ever stop to think about how Lucy Gray’s last act before disappearing from Panem’s history was to go get Katniss. And then 64 years later Katniss comes in, immortalises her songs and adapts her symbol??

Everyone’s talking about how President Snow saw Lucy Gray in Katniss- but do you think he saw Sejanus in Peeta? Do you think he saw Peeta’s will to do what’s right and thought of his long dead friend? Do you think Snow saw Sejanus in Peeta’s soft words, in his gentle smile?

Perhaps that is especially why he hated Katniss and Peeta. The pair of them danced like ghosts before his eyes, two long dead parts of his heart standing before him in the flesh-

The shadows of his past reforming to become his undoing.
