omg omg can you do a omori fanfic? like heromari where mari loves both hero and Y/n? like, they're 14-15 and mari is still alive? sorry if this is too specific but it can be fluff or angst ❤️

Don't apologize, this is the most wonderful request I've ever gotten! I will be glad to write it! I went for fluff, because I have such a soft spot for it. And I wrote this in Mari's POV, if that's okay. I hope you enjoy!

Composing was a lot harder than it looks.

Mari expected that going in, of course. And she knows this is for fun, but composing is almost as hard as actually playing the piano. And she’s scared to mess it up tonight. But, she is determined to see this through and is quite confident in herself! After all, she’s been flooding with inspiration because of… certain people.

She smiles as she thinks about it.

This piece she was writing was dedicated to them.

She then heard a knock at the door, she turned to see her little brother Sunny. 

“The others are here..” Sunny tells her. Mari smiles excitedly. They’re here! She excitedly gets up and heads to the living room with him to greet her friends.

“Mari!!” She hears a chorus of her name being yelled in happiness, there was Kel, Aubrey and Basil! “Hello everyone!” Mari grins at the younger kids happily.

“Hey, Mari,” someone says. Mari looked over, and felt her heart skip happily. You and Hero stood by the door, smiling those smiles that made her stomach do flips. She smiles back, “Well, hello, you two!” 

You told her you heard piano on the way here, and asked her if she was practicing something. She giggles a little, winking at you, “You’ll have to find out~ I have a special surprise tonight, so I can’t spoil it!” 

Kel gasped behind her, “Are you gonna play for us!?” 

“Oh my gosh, that’ll be amazing! I can’t wait!!” Aubrey chimed in, bouncing in place.

“What are you playing?” Hero asks. Which gains a gentle flick on the nose from Mari, a very quiet “Hey!” could be heard from Hero.

Mari puts her hands on her hips, “That’s a secret! I told you, it was a surprise!” Mari says as if she’s scolding him, even clicking her tongue.

Hero rubs his nose, “Oh, okay then?” he says, a little confused. You laugh softly at their banter, then you tell them you and Hero brought some snacks to eat while watching the movies. Hero nods, holding up a bag of chips and snacks. 

“That’s perfect! I made some cookies earlier, too! Don’t tell my mom though~” Mari whispers, wiggling her eyebrows with that mischievous look of hers. 

“Oh heck yeah! Cookies before dinner!!” Kel said, running to the kitchen, “I’ll be first!”

“Hey, no you won’t! Get back here!” Aubrey ran after him.

“Guys.. Please don’t break anything again-” Basil says worriedly, following them along with Sunny.

Hero sighs at all the instant commotion, “You really have to stop making them cookies before meals…” Mari smiled innocently, “Oh, come on Hero! Let them have a little treat!~”

“I cannot believe that twist! I knew he’d save her in the end!” Aubrey grinned, squeezing Mr. Plantegg in her arms. 

“Well, I thought it was lame. She was a jerk! He could do better.” Kel crosses his arms, leaning backwards onto the couch. Earning him a Plantegg flavored smack to the head from Aubrey.

“People change, Kel! You just don’t get love! You are so dense.” 

“Hey! Why you-”

As they argue and the credits roll, you sigh in content. Glancing at Mari, you notice she’s fidgeting. You ask her what’s wrong. She snaps out of her thoughts and turns to you, “Sorry! Haha, just a little nervous for tonight..” She’s thinking about how she’ll be performing, not just in front of her friends, but for the two people she has feelings for! With a song she wrote FOR them! It was kind of nerve-wracking. 

You place your hand on hers and smile softly at her. You tell her she’s going to be amazing, because that’s just how she is, amazing in everything she does! You say you know it will be incredible. 

Her face blushes lightly, “Oh, you.. You always know just what to say, you softie.” She giggles slightly. 

Hero stands up, “Alright everyone. Time to clean up, remember to bring your dishes to the sink!” he tells them. Kel grabs his bowl, blows raspberries at Aubrey and runs back to the kitchen. This gains a growl from Aubrey who chases after him with her own bowl in hand. 

Basil looks over at Mari, “You’re going to be playing for us tonight, right Mari?” he smiles at her, “You’re going to do great, I just know it’ll be amazing!” He takes his bowl and stands up, along with Sunny, “Come on, Sunny!” The two disappear into the kitchen.

Mari knew she had to prepare, so she stood up to head to the piano room, but not before taking her own bowl and handing it to Hero, “Could you please take this too, thank you Hero! My hero~” She winks at him teasingly before skipping away, leaving Hero blushing and flustered, as per usual. You giggle at his reaction.

Mari takes out her notebook where she’s written down the song, simple but perfect, the title scribbled neatly in cursive. She runs her fingers onto the letters and smiles to herself. An image of you and Hero flash in her mind. “I can do this. For them.” She places the notebook on the music rack.

Kel runs in, “PIANO TIME PIANO TIME PIANO TIME!!” he exclaims, and immediately takes a seat, grinning ear to ear. 

The rest of them follow, Aubrey, Sunny, Basil, and finally.. You and Hero. You all take a seat and she smiles. 

She looks over the small crowd sitting on the floor, her special little audience, ready just for her. “So.. I’ve taken up composing.. And I made my very first piece here. It’s very short, and probably amateur, but I tried my best.” She exhales, “I’m getting a little nervous here-” she follows with a nervous giggle.

“You’ll do amazing, Mari!”

“Yeah, Mari! You got this!”

“We believe in you!”

She meets your glance, and then Hero’s. 

“You can do this.” 

She breathes in. And then out. Okay. She’s ready.

“This piece is called, ‘Love Under The Moonlight’,”

And with that, she starts playing. 

Her hands run through the notes like second nature, she had been practicing this for a while now. Every chance she can get. Hero might have heard bits of it from his house, but hearing it here and now… felt real.

Mari had poured her whole heart into this small piece, letting notes flow like her feelings, like her love. So that even if she can’t say them, she can play them.

You listened intently, from the soft melodies, to the quick paced beats, like your heart. Listening to this made it feel like… you were the only one in the room. Like this song was just for you, playing for you, playing for your very heart and soul.

Hero was just as mesmerized, like his whole world just faded away, and all that was left was Mari, her piano, and this beautiful tune.

You didn’t even realize when Mari played the last notes. She called it a small piece, but that felt like it lasted forever and ever, but at the same time too short. You were the first to start clapping, and immediately followed by everyone else. 

Mari let out a breath of relief, happy that she flew through that smoothly. She looks at you and Hero and smiles.

After they had finished clapping, Mari was met with the whole lot screaming compliments.

“You wrote that!? That was so COOL!”

“It was so soft and romantic! You could write for romance movies!”

“That was amazing, Mari! We knew you could do it!”

Hero walked up to her, “Mari, wow.. That was.. incredible! I can’t believe you wrote that. You’ve become so talented!” He takes her by the hands and smiles widely at her, he was in so much awe of her. You walk up next to them and agree wholeheartedly, telling her it was absolutely beautiful. 

Mari felt heat rush to her face, “Aw, I’m so glad you two liked it! I worked very hard to write it. And.. it was inspired by some special people,” she says,  as she smiles up at you two. 

You and Hero glance at each other in silent understanding. You tell her that it was incredible in the end, and you couldn’t be happier. “Yeah, Mari,” Hero says, still holding her hands, “You’re incredible.”

To Mari, it was like that moment could last forever. It wasn’t much, but having you both here, and with her friends too, it felt like it was enough.

Well, that was unexpected!

Mari just wanted to watch TV to pass the time, expecting to find boring news, but instead she finds.. an idol singing on stage?

Wait.. they look.. so familiar…

That's when it dawned on her

That.. that was you! Their beloved partner! On stage! Singing?

She couldn't believe her eyes! That was actually you! She would know that attractive face everywhere…

You were.. a singer? How did she not know this???

To be fair, that did kind of make sense. Being famous is a really tough job. If any fan found out, they'd go crazy!

After getting over the initial shock though, Mari immediately went to admiring your singing. She always thought you sounded like an angel, but seeing you on stage felt… different. It felt special! Because it meant you were special! And that she was quite lucky..

Although, she always knew that.

Whenever she sees you again after that, she gets on to teasing, obviously.

Aubrey was at Kim's house when she found out

There she was, flipping through channels

When a familiar face caught her eye.

She went back, and lo and behold, it was a singer!

But not just any singer, was that… her partner?

She took a double take, making sure she wasn't seeing things.

That was you! She was dumbfounded.

Aubrey's brain was muddled, just in shock from seeing the person she's dating on screen, singing to a bunch of strangers!

"What.. the hell"

It was just crazy to think about.

Why didn't you tell her about this? It seemed like.. a PRETTY big thing to consider. 

You looked perfect on stage, so carefree, so amazing, she had to admit she was in awe.

Someone from the crowd yelled "I love you," she scoffed. 

She couldn't care less about those fanatics

Because they didn't know the real you. But she did.

....Though she was a little jealous they got to be actually there to watch you. But she'll bother you about that later.

When she sees you again, she confronts you about it immediately to confirm. And you do!

She watched your entire show for 2 hours straight.

He’s quite a disaster, he doesn’t say it, but he is.

You’d catch Sunny staring at you every now and then

He’d try to play it off by looking down at his shoes, but he’s not very subtle

He thinks about how easily you could lift him, and with a vivid imagination like his, he sees it very clearly and gets very flustered.

Sunny’s just a mess, in the best way possible.

Kel thinks you are the coolest person ever!

Just look at how easily you can lift those boxes! He’d have stars in his eyes almost every time.

He’s really fond of you and gives you a few challenges every now and then

And when you do he is just so amazed.

Kel doesn’t realize, but he’s a lot fonder of you and your strength than someone normally would.

Aubrey didn’t expect that, and it secretly has her a bit of a mess.

Sure, she’s strong too, but something about seeing you lift a bench without any struggle has her feelings very mixed

“Oh yeah? Bet you can’t throw a stone farther.”

In simple words, she’s impressed, but she won’t say that out loud

She even wonders sometimes if you could carry her.. But she shakes those thoughts away-

Oh, Basil is a poor disaster for you

I mean, he’s a disaster already, but when it comes to you he’s incomprehensible

You offer him to help in the garden, carrying fertilizer and that of the like, and he almost faints

“U-Uh.. S-Sure! I-If you want to… haha..”

The mix of you being so kind to him, and also seeing you work, is almost too much for him-

He’d be the kind to just be staring at you and completely forget what he was doing, or that he was staring until told

In that case, he would panic and apologize a lot, as he would.

All in all, Basil is very much a mess for you. You make him nervous and panicky but oh my goodness do you make him feel safe.

He really likes your presence, if only he could enjoy it without almost fainting.

He acts all calm but wow is he flustered

If you do anything casually, he’d be very cool about it

All she knew was that she understood how it felt, that loneliness, that fear. That nagging feeling of anxiety in the back of your throat when you hear the bottles. The feeling of helplessness as you sit in your room.

After finding out, she took you out more often. 

You know, to distract you or just get you away from that

If you can't go outside, she insists on going in and staying with you.

I wasn't sure if you wanted a fic or headcanons, so I went with headcanons.. Apologies if it wasn't what you wanted- But I did go with both! I hope you like it.

Mari and Aubrey with a reader who got beaten up:

Mari's reaction was almost immediate

"Oh, god- What happened!?! Are you okay!?"

She panics a little, how did you get so hurt!? Who did this and why?!

You try to calm her down but you just get sat down and told to not move too much.

She says she's gonna call the hospital, Hero, anyone-

But you stop her, and tell her it's okay.

Mari takes a moment to calm down and slow down her breathing.

She's just… She was supposed to be there for you.

Someone she cared about just got hurt! She just couldn't sit still knowing that.

She didn't understand why anyone would want to hurt you.

"I'm sorry I wasn't there for you…"

She went and got her mother's first aid kit, quickly bandaging you, fixing up your bruises, and giving you ice where it was needed.

She was fussing the whole way, but it's okay. That was just one of the parts of her that you really liked.

She even got you ice cream from her fridge! She's just amazing.

She sits down next to you with her own cup of ice cream, she huffs and declares that whoever hurt you was gonna hear from her.

You laugh, you were sure a good scolding from Mari would probably get anyone running scared.

She smiled, and swore to herself she'd protect you and be by your side.

Aubrey stares at you up and down with an unreadable expression

She grips her baseball bat. And with her voice quiet, laced with barely restrained anger,

"Who did this to you."

She takes you by the hand and sits you down, and despite your protests, she says she'll fix your wounds herself

She takes her own first aid kit from under her bed, seemingly used often

Even though she's visibly upset, Aubrey's very gentle with your wounds, apologizing whenever you winced in pain.

She asks you questions like if you're okay, if that part hurts more, if you broke anything, that of the like. She seems to know a lot about this, shockingly.

"I'm not as good as Hero, but I have experience so. Yeah."

You do notice how she's trying to hide her frustration. Her furrowed brows, her lips pressed, her low growl whenever she sees more of your bruises.

You apologize, without really knowing why. Maybe she's mad at you for being an idiot?

She looks surprised. 

"I'm not mad at you, dumbass. I'm mad at the assholes who did this to you and ….I'm mad at myself."

She wasn't there to protect you, maybe if she was there by your side she could've prevented this. She could've stopped you from getting hurt. It could've been her instead.

You'd hold her hand, and tell her that it's okay. You're just thankful she's here now. 

Aubrey would sigh, reluctantly agreeing. 

But not without promising to beat up the assholes who hurt you

She didn't think much of you at first, since she had her own friend group and all…

But, in any case of you two interacting, you were always so nice to her.

She considered you a kind person, which she did appreciate. (After all, it was hard for her to find people like you…)

When Mari.. passed.. she felt so alone. 

But you still tried to reach out to her. It was nice.

Though, that was the time when she started to bully Basil, so she started pushing people away.

And then soon after, she started hanging out with the Hooligans

And somehow, even after all that, you'd still smile at her and wave at her like she was the greatest person in the world.

It… confused her. To say the least. 

You were insistent, knowing what she's gone through, you wanted to be there for her and still be nice to her, no matter what she says or does.

She started letting you tag along with her and the scooter gang, keeping you safe from their aggression.

Aubrey realized she started liking your presence, started missing you.. when you weren't around.

She started craving the way you'd see her somewhere, and started smiling and calling her name in that voice that made a smile reach her own lips. 

The way you'd gently touch her shoulders when she's visibly becoming tense, ask her if she's okay so softly it feels like clouds. 

That's when it hit her. 

"Oh. Oh no."

Aubrey had started to like you, like… like like you. More than a friend. 

She internally panicked. Maybe it's just her imagination??? 

But alas, your smile, your eyes, your voice, your touch, just your entire existence- was spinning around in her mind 24/7 since then.

She told the Hooligans because she just couldn't stand thinking about this on her own-

Naturally, the teasing begins.

But after that, they did tell her she should totally tell you how she felt! And, naturally, she's nervous and says she can't.

Now every time Aubrey sees you, she starts to get this goofy smile on her face, but tries to hide it. The Hooligans giggle a little about it before calling you over, and they noticeably get a little pushy with you and Aubrey. 

"Maybe you and Aubrey could go order some pizza together, don't worry, we can wait here! Hehehe."

Aubrey is visibly very flustered but acts cool about it, left to resign to her fate.

She does want to get closer to you though…

So she tries her best to work up the courage to invite you to hang out, just the two of you.

She wants to be absolutely certain about these feelings, she isn't a kid anymore who jumps into things.

So, it might take a little time before she gets the courage to tell you how she feels.

But when she does, you bet it'll be heartfelt, soft, and intimate.

It's not like it bothers him, but it's just a bit strange how it seems like you still don't trust him.

He's determined though, to break down those walls. No matter what it takes.

When Hero uses his charm, he may see you crumble a little, but bring your guard right back up. So that doesn't work too well.

The others tell him to just be himself.

Problem is, he's not sure what being himself is?

But, he guesses not being such a doormat counts. You soften up quite a bit when it's all of you hanging out casually.

When that happens, he makes sure to show you how much he's happy to see your softer parts. That he accepts you.

Hero knows you probably have trust issues, and he really wants to show you that he won't hurt you.

He sees your true self when you're with the others, and he's determined to get there with you.

It'll take a little time, but with enough patience and affection, maybe he can earn your trust?

Kel likes a challenge!!

He's absolutely oblivious to the crush though, so jot that down.

Besides that, when he noticed you acted differently with him, he was down to get you to shake.

At first, he actually thought you were quite a jerk.

But then he saw how you acted with other people. Kind. Soft. Sweet. It made him realize maybe there was more to you.

That flipped a switch in his brain, instead of a jerk, he saw you as a challenge! Someone he had to earn the trust of! 

He liked seeing you happy like that, so now he was hell-bent on being able to make you smile the same.

He counters your teasing, not as bad as Aubrey, but he matches your energy.

He does think it's kind of weird how you seem to be… meaner? Towards him compared to the others.

But Kel takes it as a mission, to get you to trust him and like him!

Because even though he surely doesn't realize it in that meatball brain of his, he might like you too. A lot.

It might just take you softening up to him for him to realize.

A soft sob leaves your throat, tight and sore from crying. 

This was awful, why can't you stop? This is stupid, you have to stop crying. If you don't someone might-

"Hello?"

You practically jump and shoot your glance up to someone opening the door, wiping your eyes violently in a failed attempt to hide your state.

You lock eyes with a girl.

It was Mari.

Oh god, why did it have to be her?

Nobody moved an inch for a millisecond, before it dawned on Mari what was happening, then she reacted. 

"Oh my god, are you okay!? What happened!? Are you hurt??" 

She kneeled in front of your curled up figure, strands of hair in front of her worried expression. You tell her it's fine but your voice betrays you and you stutter. 

"You are clearly not fine! What happened??" She repeated her question. You swallow the lump in your throat, trying to choke back a sob. You tell her it was stupid, that she shouldn't worry.

It came out quieter than you hoped.

You couldn't look her in the eyes. This is pathetic. You can't believe she had to see you like this.

"Hey, look at me.." 

You feel her gentle touch hold your face, and softly turn you towards her. You meet her eyes. Her expression had softened and she had that wonderfully calming smile, the smile that said everything is going to be okay.

"Breathe… In for four… Out for four.. okay? Follow my lead. One, two, three, four…" 

You slowly followed Mari's counting with shaky breathing. Inhale… Exhale… In two more sets, your breathing became steadier.

Mari kept her hand on your face, she rubs your wet cheek with her thumb.

"Whatever happened to you, probably wasn't stupid. Because you're feeling strongly about it right now, right?" You slowly nodded.

You couldn't resist giving a small smile back, and softly agreeing.

She grins and takes your hand, "Now, is there anything you need me to do? Get you some water? Call the others?" 

You thought for a moment about what might make you feel better… 

After a moment of thinking something came to you! It was kind of embarrassing though… You quietly start your request. Very quietly.

"Hm? What was that, sweetheart?" Mari tilted her head, not quite hearing what you said.

You repeated, a little louder, but the stuttering hadn't ceased. You wanted her to sing a song for you... After all, she did have the voice of an angel.

The more you went on with your request, the wider Mari's smile got. She just loved it when you were embarrassed, but the fact you wanted her to sing for you made her heart do little flips. 

"You want me to sing? Aw, well if that's what makes you feel better!" She wasn't that confident in her singing (which you thought was baloney) but she was willing to do it for you.

She took your hand closer and snuggled up next to you. She clears her throat, and starts to sing.

It was your comfort song.. Of course she knew. She always knew exactly what you needed to hear. You relaxed almost immediately.

Mari's voice rang throughout the room in the most beautiful melody, just for you. And the fact that she was singing for you made it feel all the more special. It made you feel special.

She sang the lines perfectly, never missing a beat, and in some lines she'd caress your hand with her thumb and it all felt right. 

It almost felt like time slowed, it felt like it could last forever. With Mari by your side anything felt possible… 

She sang the last lines and it lingered in the air for a moment. She looked over at you and whispered to you soft and sweet words, that you and only you needed to hear.

Yes, with Mari's love by your side, you just knew that anything was possible.

First things first, you get a free punch on the arm.

It's playful though, of course.

You just caught her off guard. She's never ready, neither does she ever know what to do when someone flirts with her.

Especially when it's you.

You just give her that dumb smirk and that smug look in your eye and suddenly she's blushing bright pink, stuttering incoherently.

She condemns you for it though, you are NOT getting away with flustering her like that.

You think you're so slick huh? How do you feel about a kick to the shins, hm?

She does give you a kiss after though, albeit with stubborn comments like,

"I'll give you some credit. It wasn't awful, dork."

If you flirt with her in public though, it's mostly the same reaction, but a bit more aggressive. You aren't getting away with embarrassing her like that!

You were sick of being sick. That sentence wasn’t even funny anymore, since you’ve been sick for who knows how long now! Hours? Days? Weeks, even? You don’t even know, you haven't kept track. Your throat was sore and your head hurt. You couldn’t even groan in frustration anymore….

You wished you could call your friends, do anything, but god knows you were too sick to do it. 

This was the worst.

Then, you heard a knock on your door. It must’ve been your mom or dad, probably with more medicine or something. Whatever, you tell them they can come in.

…To your surprise, it wasn’t your parents at the door. Instead you were met with the handsome face of Hero, smiling at you warmly.

You nearly fell off your bed in surprise. You ask him what he was doing here, albeit it ending in a coughing fit. 

He grinned proudly and placed down a first aid kit, “Your friends told me you were sick, so they suggested I come over, since I am studying to be a doctor,” he then sat down a little bit away from your bed, “They also said you needed someone you were ‘comfortable’ with to take care of you, so here I am! Is that okay with you?”

Your friends…. Of course they would call Hero here.. You realized he asked you a question and you frantically told him it was alright, you were happy he was here! To take care of you… as a doctor of course! 

He smiled brightly at you, “Good, thank you!” You thought to yourself that his smile could probably cure you of all diseases….

You then felt Hero’s hand on your forehead, probably feeling for your temperature. But even then, you melted at his soft touch. You wished he would never let go of you and this would stay forever, but of course not, and he let go of you and opened the first aid kit. He took out a thermometer.

“Alright.. Here you go,” he held out the thermometer for you to take. Okay, don’t be weird, he’s just taking your temperature. Be calm. You took the thermometer in your mouth.

Hero hadn’t let go of the thermometer, this contact was interesting to him.. Intimate even. He smiled a little. “Cute..” he thought to himself. When you glanced back at him though, he blushed and retracted his hand, “S-Sorry! Okay, we’ll have to wait a little..”

He rolled up his sleeves and checked his watch, then he started to look through the first aid kit again. He was kinda trying to distract himself, he has to stay cool. This is the cool, charming Hero. No getting flustered now. No matter how cute you were going to be, he had to be the cool and composed Hero. He then heard the thermometer beep, signaling it was done. 

“Okay, and… there we go,” he took it off of you. He took the glasses that were hung on his shirt and put them on. Wait, Hero wore glasses? Oh no. He’s even more attractive with them on- 

“Yep, that’s a cold alright. 40 degrees celsius.” He nodded, taking the glasses off. Though you honestly wished he’d keep them on. Can’t have everything…

He put the thermometer back, and continued to rummage through the kit, “Tell me, is your throat sore? W-Well, maybe not tell me. Just nod if it is,” he asked you, which you responded with nodding. Yeah, your throat was sore, it was awful.

“Well, in that case, I have some lozenges here!” He passes one to you, “They’re lemon flavored too,” he winked at you. You blushed again and instead focused on trying to open the throat lozenge. Damn this man and his stupid charm…

He stood up, “I’ll come back with some medicine, okay? Don’t move too much while I’m gone, don’t strain your eyes, and just relax alright? The doctor’s got you.” Hero smiled at you, in an attempt to.. flirt? He then left the door before he got too embarrassed. Little does he know… it definitely worked on you.. 

A little later, Hero came back with a bowl and your medicine, “Hey, how are you?” You told him you felt okay, your throat didn’t feel as awful as before. ..And then you started coughing again. Way to jinx it.

He chuckled, sitting back down near you, “Well, I made you some cheddar ham soup! Extra creamy and warm, just for you.” He gave you that award winning smile again… Who gave him the right to be so perfect?

You sit up, thank god your body isn't aching as badly anymore. He hands you the soup, it smelled absolutely delicious… You eagerly took a sip. “I hope it isn’t too hot!” Hero added as you put down the spoon, nodding to tell him it was perfect. 

He was right… this was perfectly creamy and warm. It was cheesy, the ham was perfectly soft, even the vegetables tasted fantastic, you could eat this all day! You told Hero this was incredible, and that he was an amazing cook. 

He seemed a bit surprised at that, rubbing the back of his head, seemingly a bit embarrassed.

“Th-Thank you! I’m a bit rusty, since I hadn’t really… cooked in a while, but I’m really glad you enjoyed it! Cooking was one of my favorite hobbies back then, before I went to college to become a doctor! It’s good I hadn’t lost my touch though, haha!” he started to ramble a bit, your compliment really got to him. He… hadn’t really been complimented about his cooking like that since…

“Ah, sorry- Was I rambling?” He smiled awkwardly. You really did like hearing him talk though, so you told him it was okay. 

You decided to be bold and tell him you found him cute when he rambled like that.

His face flushed bright red at your comment, “A-Ah- Really?” he didn’t know how to respond… Come on, Hero! Calm and collected emember?? He’s supposed to be the doctor here! He couldn’t get all flustered now! “Thank you…” He said, though it was almost a mumble…

He cleared his throat, and noticed you already finished your food. That was fast… Who can blame you though? Hero’s cooking was amazing.

“S-So, are you ready for your medicine?” He asked, holding up the pills and your water. You nodded, taking them from him, as he took your empty bowl. He stood up to probably put the bowl in the sink…

You were really glad he was here… Everything was so much better. Hero was so kind and gentle… It almost made being sick worth it, if he was here to take care of you. 

You coughed again.

Hero came back, and sat back down. “So, how are you feeling?” He asked you, placing a hand on your neck. His touch made your skin burn, in a good way, not because of the fever…

You smiled at him, telling him you were feeling so much better, especially with him being here. You placed a hand on his. 

Hero sort of flinched from your reaction, but only because he was surprised. He then softened again, smiling back. 

“Yeah. I’m glad I’m here, too.”

You nearly slammed the tray onto the counter, groaning in frustration.

You didn't even know how this happened. You mixed it all perfectly, all the right measurements. Yet the cookies didn't spread or rise properly, the bottom was a little burnt while the top was still soft. You didn't understand.

You were so eager. The girls were in the living room waiting and it made you so eager to impress them. To impress Natsuki. And now look where your pride got you…

You placed your head in your hands, completely crushed by this. The girls might as well go home and forget about the cookies..

That was when you heard footsteps coming into the kitchen, followed by a voice.

"Hey, you good?" 

....That sweet voice you'd recognize anywhere.

You looked up to see Natsuki by the door, simply greeting her and.. not really answering her question.

She walked over to you, from the way you were hunched over at the counter she could guess you weren't really doing too well. She glanced over at your cookies then back at you, you didn't meet her eyes.

"Alright, what's going on? Baking trouble?" She sighed, "I told you, if you needed help you coulda just asked-"

You told her no. She stopped abruptly to look back at you, confused. You told her you needed to do this on your own, but you managed to mess this up big time, and you didn't even know how.

You said you wanted to impress her, and the girls. To make her proud of your baking. You've done this before, how could you not now?? Cookies are so simple! You groaned into your hands. You tell her you couldn't do it perfectly like she could, you say sorry.

Natsuki scoffed, "Well, duh! Of course not! That's cuz I have experience!" She said loudly, she just proved your point…

"And in my years of experience, I learned that no matter what you do, you're always gonna mess something up!" She continued, placing a hand on your shoulder. 

"It's just the way it is. Maybe you put a little bit too much flour, maybe you left it in the fridge for too long, hell, even preheating the oven might've messed it up!" You looked over at her, she had a little grin on her face. The kind that was confident, but also telling you that.. you should be confident too.

"That doesn't make you any less of a baker. Even the coolest bakers make mistakes sometimes! It just proves you're human," She shrugged, then took a cookie from the tray. Since it had cooled, the top part was more solid now.

Natsuki took a bite. She hummed in approval. 

"And this is still pretty good! It's chewy, it's sweet, and though it's a little thick, it's still good! No idea what you're beatin' yourself up over.." 

She looked back up at you with a smile, you could tell she was trying to comfort you, but is still genuine. Her words made you smile warmly at her.

Seeing that, Natsuki's face flushed a little and she looked away. "W-Well, it's not as good as my cookies, obviously. But it's still edible at least…." You chuckled at her reverting back to her old tsundere-esque personality. 

You placed a hand on her neck and kissed her on the cheek, you then told her thank you for making you feel better. 

As you expected, she blushed bright pink and started stuttering. You snicker. "Wh-Whatever! Just, stop beating yourself over stupid things, dummy." She punched you playfully on the arm.

"Now, come on. Let's give this to the girls, they're gonna end up watching Twilight if we don't hurry."

You laughed and agreed, taking the tray of cookies and following Natsuki.
