We’d like to thank everyone who attended BlockCon Sheffield on Sunday 25th February, over 1000 of you in all. We hope you enjoyed the models that were out on display. There were lots of new builders featuring in the show, and they really appreciated your feedback during the day.
You might have caught the brief report on BBC Look North about the event on Sunday night, which gave a taste of just how popular our events are. We’re now in full swing planning for the Yorkshire Brick Show, which is celebrating its 5th Anniversary this year, but we’ve just got time to wrap up the winners from Sheffield.
Build Trophies
As regulars will know, we like to have a little friendly competition between our builders, and as such, we have 3 trophies available for our builders to win. You guys help us with one of the trophies, and I’m sure you’re itching to find out who the winners were.
Winner – Public Vote: The Great Ball Contraption, by Macieira Alicio – Voted for by the General Public.
Winner – AFOL Award: Back to the Eighties, by Terry Fisher – Voted for by the builder’s in attendance.
Winner – Critic’s Choice: Ancient Egypt, by Greg McCarthy – Voted for by our independent critic.
  Great Ball Contraption
Back to the Eighties
Ancient Egypt
We want to say a big thank you to everyone that voted in the Public Vote category. As always, we enter you into a prize draw to win LEGO goodies, and our randomly selected winner is Flynn Micklethwaite, aged 7. We’ll be in touch shortly!
If you’d like to see more fantastic LEGO models, be sure to visit us at the Yorkshire Brick Show on the 6th and 7th May 2018. Tickets are available now!

It was a scorching Sunday, but despite the heat, we had a fantastic day at Block Con – Hull 2017. Almost 1500 of you braved the heat to see some of the incredible creations our network of AFOLs (Adult Fans of LEGO) had to show you.
With representatives from at least 6 of the country’s top LEGO® User Groups, the event was well supported with over 35 AFOLs in attendance, and what a variety of displays we had from them. If you missed it, don’t worry, we have loads of pictures from the show in our Flickr Gallery, which you can find at flickr.com
As always, during the show, we run a bit of friendly competition for our AFOLs, and pit them against one another for a chance to win one of our highly coveted event trophies from one of the following categories: Critics’ Choice, which is carefully selected by an independent critic from within the LEGO® Fan community; AFOL Award, which is voted on by all of the AFOLs in attendance at the show; and the Public Vote, which is voted on by you, the public.
This year’s winners were:
Critics Choice – Wacky Racers vehicles, by Martin Redfearn. AFOL Award – Viking Display, by Chris McKnight and the BrickBox Hull team.
and finally
Public Vote – ‘The Olympics’ display, by Neil Burgess

Thank you all for your votes. We entered each and every one of the voting slips we received into a prize draw, in which we selected 1 person at random to win a mystery box of goodies, courtesy of Stackable Toys. We can now announce that the winner is Six-year-old Corey Cummins, who voted for the Ninjago Temple to win, so congratulations to you, and we will be in contact soon.
So that’s it for another year, but we hope we’ll see you again next year, and in the meantime, enjoy the pictures!
